Cute little spot but not a fan of the customer service or customers who shop there. Decent selection of a range of brands and decent pricing for some items. Randomly came across this spot today and decided to go in. I wasn't greeted walking in but everyone after me was. Customers will literally shop right directly next to you like you aren't standing there. I was standing next the fitting room waiting for someone to acknowledge me so I can ask to try some items on. Cashier wouldn't even look my way until I said something. Couldn't help but feel so unwelcome here and noticed I happened to be the only person of color in this store.. I did end up buying a top but will not be coming back here. read more

not even sure why 3.5 stars! This place should be 5 stars! I have taken my items here and I also spent hundreds at the store and never once had an issue. You can always find that one gem at such a good price and enjoy it. All the ladies are super sweet and welcoming. The ones who left a bad review were probably too entitled. read more

I LOVE getting my work clothes here. The vibe is neat, clean, and very high fashion. I especially like their teacher sales and special sale days/times. They have great quality clothing. There is always a shop worker to greet me with a smile, and they're so helpful and offer some great advice and compliments regarding the clothes. read more

I usually use The Real Real for consigning- that really is the gold standard for resale. I've been burned by Bailey in the past- giving me $75 for a pair of $700 new Tods loafers because she "thinks" she might get $100 for them. I went back the next day because I had forgotten some things, and they were front and center with a $225 price tag. i should have learned my lesson, but recently I gutted my closet and took some really great stuff up to her. "reminder to self: use The Real Real. i had a rack of beautiful, expensive, and desirable items. Total for about $6000 origin retail. She offered for a Versace purse about $40. Retail $995! check out the selling price and you will get an idea of why you should never sell her the good stuff. ive learned my lesson read more

Their website specifically says: "If you feel like you can't get in because of your schedule, or ours, feel free to give us a call and we'll try to accommodate you the best we can!" In fact they do not do this, I've called several times and they are always booked and never accommodate to the time I can come drop off. Lost a customer and would not recommend to anyone. read more

I love Modao! You get great deals on high end clothes that you wouldn't get anywhere else. I recently lost a lot of weight and needed to replace my entire wardrobe so I was VERY thankful to have Modao nearby. I will agree though with some of the comments about the consignment process. When I was losing weight I would buy items from Modao and then bring them into consign 3-6 months later and they would tell me "we don't take this style anymore, it's a strict rule that we don't take XYZ style. They don't sell" but then I would turn around and walk over to their racks and see a host of the same style and they've continued carrying them for the next year. I think it all depends on who you get reviewing your clothes and honestly how they perceive you when you walk in. A little "pretty woman-ish vibe". So I'll continue to shop there but I won't waste my time consigning. No point. read more

Modao has a lot of variety in styles, which is really nice, but don't have too many sizes, mostly S-L which is fine, but for someone who is extra petite, it's really annoying. I also tried to donate 3 large bags of clothing, and they only took 4 items, even though all of my clothing was bought in the last 2 years and with little to no wear and tear, and are very sought after brands. Really frustrating since a lot of what they have currently displayed or for sale is currently not in style and has not been for several years. Overall if you want a mediocre selection and want to walk out with most of the items you donate, then this might be the place for you. But really I think you're better off trying to sell items on poshmark or other going to other consignment shops in the area. read more

Modao and I have an interesting relationship. I only shop here for my wife but my wife absolutely loves this place. So I do on occasion buy gift certificates/gifts and speak with the staff and let me say.... they are all amazing! Super awesome to deal with, they have amazing deals and also "specials" that gave me some extra bucks on my gift card purchase. My wife always looks amazing in the clothes she gets from there. She saves a ton of money as well. The owner is very nice and extremely helpful, even offers live online sales for later pick up which is very convenient. If you are looking for amazing customer service, amazing high end products for a fractions of the price, and super easy transactions then you found the right place. Highly recommended! read more

This is the best consignment shop in Portland/Vancouver area. Not only do they have beautiful clothing, accessories and shoes but you'll also have a great experience! Grab a friend & go to Modao. Won't take my clothes here as a consignment shop again. After a positive start it was a poor ending. Rude comments about some of my items (yet they purchased them), some comments she made that were untrue about the ones they didn't purchase. The amount they bought it for was unreal. I've been coming to Modao since it opened, and I can now safely say half of my wardrobe comes from this store! I'm always impressed by the selection of items I browse through (brands from stores such as anthropologie and Nordstrom but at less than half the price) as well as the top-notch service I receive when I go. Even when I'm away at college, I let them know I'm looking for a dress of some sort, and they will keep an eye out for me. I also enjoy their community events, and how involved they've gotten with other local businesses such as Glam Bar, and Barre3 Felida. I support this small business, and even though I consider it a "secret gem", I'll always recommend it to everyone I know. read more

I have enjoyed browsing & buying, since Joanie & Bailey opened...(3or4years ago). Their Shoppe makes me wander around, feeling like I'm in a French boutique...or beautiful vintage; & newer Treasure trove! I love relaxing there & always find something special for someone I love, and/or Me too! Their Ambience is Impeccable & they know their fashion trends & high end Names & quality...very affordable & also expensive purses etc, at consignment prices! I recommend Modao to everyone I like! I drive from out of town to shop specifically at Modao. I always find something fun, whether it be a cute pair of shoes, modern great fitting jeans, new workout gear, stylish jacket, or trendy handbag (among others). It almost feels like a treasure hunt! I don't like to spend a lot of money on fashion so this store is perfect! I get compliments all the time on the things I find at Modao (and love to share my secret with everyone!). read more

According to other reviews: It might ? be a good place to shop .....but you don't want to try to sell there. I buy most of my clothes from Macy's and order the rest online. When it comes to consignment: I only try to sell clothing that still have the tags on, or are in new condition. I also had several pairs of expensive un-used shoes from the walking store to sell. What happened: It was a rainy saturday.. when I entered the store with 2 large sacks of clothing & shoes. The handles on 1 of the bags had broken just before entering the store so the salesclerk noticed and told me to leave them with her in the back and then go to the front and look around at their other items for sale. Not even 2 MINUTES had passed before she called me back....I was stunned! All that there was time for and what I found was that she had put my 2 sacks just as they were, into 1 large garbage sack w/o going through any of it ! *I was told they only buy clothes from Nordstroms & other top-of-the-line designers. She then continued to say...she didn't know of anywhere to send me and then recommended one other shop in town with the disclaimer "she didn't know what CALIBER of clothing they accepted"! WOW !! I drug my pathetic "I can only afford Macy's self" out of the store feeling like I needed to leave by the servant's entrance! Moral of the story: It's not just the message - it's all in the delivery ! It could have been said in such a way as not to make another human being feel like a second class citizen. read more
