I felt like I was in a bad soap opera. I waited to have someone help me or ask if I needed assistance for too long, and got the heck out of there. It felt like I was an inconvenience being there. The clothes were actually cute, I saw many beautiful pieces. The arrogance, unprofessional feeling, the tension in the air.... No thanks. And arguing with a customer, scoffing with the rest of the peanut gallery? Geez! I wonder what they said about me after I left.. The only positive part of my experience: I found the same Dear John flare pants I wanted, online for $92.00, as opposed to the advertised $118.00 at Lily's. You can find them on Zappos or the Dear John website. Overpriced, pretentious, rude, classless.. I'd rather shop back in LA, or online. I brought in around $100 worth of merchandise, including higher name brands like Micheal Kors, but only ended up receiving about $40 after my consignment period was over. What frustrated me the most was how little I was paid compared to what my items sold for. Their communication was also disappointing. At one point, I was told they were going to pull one of my items, but later I was told it had already sold. For example, my a.n.a skirt originally cost over $30 at Jc Penny. They sold it for $11, but I only received about $2 in compensation. I also consigned a Coach banana makeup bag that originally retailed for over $80 and received very little for it. After seeing what I was paid for several items, I felt the consignment process simply wasn't worth it. While a few of the employees were friendly, I left feeling like I didn't receive fair value for my belongings., I would recommend selling your items yourself online instead of consigning with them.

The woman doing the intake told me they were only taking seasonal items (fall/winter) and said that information was available on their website. I checked the website afterward and was unable to find that information posted. I also was not told that there was a "baby clothing buying freeze" or that baby items were not currently being accepted. If I had known that upfront, I would not have spent the time bringing everything in and leaving it for review. I was contacted later and told they couldn't take anything because they were on a baby clothing buying freeze, and that holiday items would not be purchased until September. That information would have been helpful to know before drop-off. I also received my clothes back unfolded and messy, despite bringing them in neatly folded. I understand that resale shops have to make decisions about what inventory they need, but clear communication about what categories and seasons you are currently accepting, especially before customers spend time sorting, folding, and hauling in bags of items, would make for a much better experience.
