This is the cutest store we've visited in awhile. Its decorated really well, nicely organized and easy to shop. Prices were surprisingly low, which was a refreshing change. Eccentric is absolutely the right word for this fantastic little vintage boutique on Main Street, that has been here for...quite some time. The hand-selected articles of clothing, hats, jewelry and accessories available here are certainly quirky, but also fashionable and functional. Whomever curates the collection here has an eye for the theatrical and flamboyant; many of the items here could easily double as Halloween costume components. There's no shortage of vintage clothing stores in the Portland metro area, but many of them charge truly outrageous prices for scraps and rags that only the most unaffected urchin would be caught dead wearing. Thankfully, that's not the case here: there's something for everyone, from casual to formal, grounded to glamorous, simple to sophisticated. I have purchased so much from Urban Eccentric that it is almost a guarantee that I will be wearing something from there on any given day. There is such a wide variety of clothing in regards to era, pattern, shape, size, and so on and I rarely walk out empty-handed. The employees at the shop are absolutely lovely people who have beautiful, unique style and you can tell they authentically have a passion for clothing. I have nothing negative to say or could say about this spot and I've told everyone I know about it. I love to see them get more and more business! Great place with some cute vintage items! I have been here plenty of times & enjoyed taking my sister when she's in town. We always leave buying something because they get in some great pieces. However after my visit today I don't feel like coming here again. I asked to have an item off a mannequin to try on knowing I want to buy it. Girl at the front told me I would have to leave my purse with my bf & dad or at the front with her. It just changed the whole dynamic of shopping there. I asked her about it and she was kind and told me they have had issues with theft recently which is sad to hear. I don't think that should change the fun and enjoyment of shopping for others who come in regularly. I bought my skirt without trying it on and left. Debating on if i will come back again. read more

First stop in my Vintage Clothing Store hunt; since moving to the area. I absolutely love the decor! It has a great vintage feel to it, and the prices are VERY reasonable. I found a dress in the discount section. The two things I wasn't too fond of was the limited selection in clothing; especially in some of the larger sizes. Also, I asked the owner if I could purchase the Flannel Shirt she had behind the counter, that just came in. She said no, that i had to be cleaned. I would have took it regardless and washed myself. Perhaps it was a store policy, but she didn't mention if it were. Will definitely be visiting again, and recommend to any thrifters like myself! read more

When you need the perfect sweater, 50's flair dress, leather jacket, bowling shirt, derby hat, or want to create a unique outfit, this is the place to look. The store is beautiful and has a boutique look and feel with reasonable prices. Plenty of plush chairs to sit and relax, and friendly staff. When I asked how I could further accessorize an outfit, the ladies were great at recommending ideas. I left with several new looks and a few new ideas how to turn those into more outfits. I didn't go to this store to shop, but I was at a nearby tattoo parlor waiting for my wife to get a tattoo. My car battery died and it was super cold out, so I needed to change into pants (I was in shorts for my tattoo). I figured this place would have a changing booth, so I stopped in to ask if I could borrow it for a moment. The staff there allowed me to borrow their space even though I wasn't a paying customer. I would highly recommend this store for the sole fact that their staff are kind humans. Their stuff that I quickly glimpsed also looked really neat and their whole store layout is very cute. read more

A nice selection of clothing from across the ages. Have come here a couple of times and have been greeted by very amiable customer service. The selection of clothing, from what I have seen, is primarily centered around female vintage clothing but there is a small selection of clothing from men. According to the owner, she looks for things that are interesting, fun or just have something of a cool factor and that is what I have found coming in here with my daughter. The items I have seen range from vintage 50's dresses to 90's sweatshirts and everything in between. If you are just looking for a flash back or something cool to distinguish your wardrobe, this is a great stop while in downtown Vancouver. read more

This experience happened many years ago, but was so upsetting finally decided to write a review about it. Grew up in Vancouver and shopped here often. Love her clothes, but the owner has been rude/cold to me almost every time even though I purchase an item every visit. One distinct experience with the owner. I made a simple inquiry if she had more summer items. She proceeded to walk me around the store telling me where the "LARGER" and "BIGGER" sizes were multiple times. I never asked her about sizes (though I'm a size 8). I looked back at my boyfriend as the owner said this and he literally dropped his jaw to demonstrate to me how shocked he was that she said that. I felt it was done in malice...not sure if she was having a bad day or what. So insanely inappropriate, hurtful, and very shocking. Happened 4 or so years ago, so distinct had to write about it in today's intolerance for body shaming. read more

I suppose good vintage in Vancouver shouldn't be THAT shocking, right? Actually, I'd expect there to be more of it, but frankly it's hard for me to spend that much time driving around the suburb (ahem, i reserve the right to say as much...i DID go to high school there). I think this store has been here about 5+ years and is really cute (despite the unfortunate name...yikes) and the owner's a gem. She has many many things in her store. Lots of clothes of all eras in all sizes. Tons of hats and shoes and jewelry too, for a fairly small space. There's also a smattering of local artist stuff like some screenprinted tees (woohoo!) and jewelry and so forth. It's a nice little store on the road to downtown Vancouver; it's worth a visit if you're in the 'hood. read more

Nestled along the hodgepodge of Vancouver's Main Street shops is Urban Eccentric, a nice, well stocked and fun vintage shop. The inventory has a wide range of 1940s to contemporary garments, with most of it being from the 1970s and 80s. But there are gems to be had!! You may just not find one on every visit. Not all of the items are perfect. Careful inspect of garments should be done before purchasing. I found several pieces that had small darning patches. Prices are very reasonable, being about level with shops such as Buffalo Exchange. There is a good amount of jewelry and accessories as well. The store itself is large and brightly lit with fun and eclectic decor of mannequins, pin-up pictures and the inventory itself. I've only been in a handful of times, but each time the gal working was very pleasant to chat with and kind enough to let me take a closer look at the more delicate items that hung on the wall behind the counter. One thing that is really swell about this place is that there is a child-designated dress up box. Parents can let their child play with items that are approved for play, instead of having their kids grabbing at the shops inventory. read more

I love the Urban Eccentric! You find mostly vintage and some faux vintage but the shop is attractively laid out and decorated, kind of kitchy but in a cute way, not cheesy. I always walk away with something I love from Urban Eccentric and I send all my girlfriends in here. The person that does the buying has great taste because the shop is full of terrific things every time I come in. if only it were all in my size! Haha! read more

Growing up in Vancouver there was a lack of vintage stores until Urban Eccentric showed up back in the late 90's. I remember loving it so much and wanting to work there and be a buyer for them. I have since moved away to Seattle then San Francisco, yet every time I go back home I stop in to check out the store, they have great vintage for so CHEAP!! Last time I was in town over christmas 08 I bought a gorgeous 1920's lace bolero jacket in perfect condition for 20$, what a bargain. I love this place and it always makes my trip home fun to stop in and buy something great. read more

This is one of the best vintage stores ever! You will never find this kind of variety and for the affordable prices. (I'm including Portland and LA in this declaration) Seriously where else can you buy a cute vintage dress that doesn't need to be altered for $12? It's not one of those store you need to dig through either. You can tell the owner carefully selects each and every piece saving you time sifting through junk that you'll find in other stores simply because it came from a certain era. If you go in twice you'll recognize the owner and chances are she'll recognize you too. Its a really nice change from moody histers who you'll usually find in most portland stores. And for those of you who enjoy a challenge or simply need some fabric for sewing projects, check out her $1 rack out front. I gladly make the trip from Portland just to shop here. It's really not that far, just right over the bridge. Think of it as North-North Portland. I promise it's worth it! read more
