Talk about nostalgia! I was in Washington looking for food recommendations when I was led to Smack Town. It was only after pulling into the mall that I realized it was inside the food court. Normally I would've tried to find something else, but to be honest, I wasn't mad about it. Surprisingly enough, Oregon's capitol city of Salem is smaller than I'd expected before making the move. There are a couple of what used to be thriving malls that have dwindled down to host small, lesser known businesses. I grew up in the 80s when malls were the social hub and all the rage. Walking inside, I could see the adaptation to today's consumers with remnants of days gone by. Poised right by the entrance is a K-Pop store and adjacent Anime Town. The little kids play area was just as obnoxious as I remember, all screams included. Upstairs was a bungee style trampoline for bigger kids wanting a little more thrill. There was a Hot Wheels vending machine and fresh fruit dessert stand featuring the ever popular Dubai chocolate over strawberries for a mere $18 (ouch!). Perhaps it was the season, but the parking lot was packed. It was nice to see some of the favs of my youth; PacSun, Vans, and Hot Topic, and FYE. There were also some cool shops I'd never heard of. We enjoyed our lunch and had to depart with little time to spend browsing, but I really want to come back. If there was a deterrent to be mentioned, it's the 8+% tax, a significant hit when you're used to zero state tax. read more

There's really a great variety of shops, entertainment, and eating establishments at this mall. I was pleasantly surprised to find they even have a library branch that is located on the second floor near JCPenney's. After making some purchases at Macy's and walking both levels of the mall, my family had dinner at Outback Steakhouse. I hope the mall will continue to attract businesses as this is one of the few traditional malls in the entire area. Very clean facility. I don't know if this was just a one off, but the restroom I used had two out of the three sinks and one of three stalls out of order. Hopefully that's not the norm for them. read more

This is mall is just a normal mall. Nothing extraordinary and nothing that stood out that would lead me to not return. I did think it was weird that Sephora is considered a part of the mall, but you can't get to Sephora by going inside of the mall. Sephora is stand alone in my opinion. There were many stores to choose from. The value depends on the store. I would go back, but as an Oregonian, I hate the tax. read more

My, how this place has changed over the years! I remember the days when there was no food court (all the dining options were scattered about everywhere), and my favorite place in the entire mall was an ice cream shop on the upper floor, where they would dip bars of vanilla into hot fudge, and roll them in toppings of your choice (sprinkles, nuts, candies, etc). That was back in the 80s, so the "kids these days" have no idea what they are missing. Some things that were lost (like our youth!), we'll never get back, but that doesn't mean that all changes are for the worse. In fact, Vancouver Mall, for the most part, has generally improved in almost all aspects. It's cleaner, more vibrant, better lit, with modernized décor, and reasonably well-populated with stores (compared to most other malls in the area, anyway). The *one-and-only* elevator is still trash; probably the same one from when the mall first opened, creating a bottleneck for people with strollers or in wheelchairs who aren't willing to risk a tricky ascent/descent on an escalator. Unlike most metropolitan malls, Vancouver Mall has a somewhat home-town feel and flair: I mean, it boasts a branch of the local library, for God's sake(!), as well as a children's play area and a private lounge (I don't know much about this, yet...seems both intriguing and ridiculous at the same time). There's even a parlor/studio devoted entirely to the taking of selfies (ugh), complete with several different stations boasting mirrors, ring lights, a ball pit, etc...perfect for the narcissist in us all (for a modest fee, of course)! Community events are frequently hosted here, including all of the traditional holidays you'd expect a mall to acknowledge: Halloween, Christmas, Easter...basically, if you can get a picture of your kids sitting on the lap of a stranger in a furry suit, they celebrate it. Conversely, many of its anchor stores have abandoned their massive retail footprints (as they've frequently done in malls elsewhere), giving way to new tenants not typically seen in suburban shopping centers, such as an AMC movie theater (its glory has diminished somewhat from its Cinetopia days), a Gold's Gym, a massive arcade (Round One), and a Hobby Lobby (which, due to a quirk of the layout and renovation process, cannot be accessed from inside the mall - it has its own entrances and exits). The food court itself is lackluster these days, with nothing truly compelling within, and there are a few options outside of its borders that are above average, with one exception being Los Pepes, directly below. Even the satellite buildings surrounding the mall's exterior have morphed, expanded, or changed tenants significantly in the last few decades. Many of the chain restaurants remain the same, while also welcoming newcomers such as Voodoo Doughnut, Chick-Fil-A, Five Guys, and more. The bus depot/transit center has moved from the north side to the south, and the inclusion of a Tesla charging station helps reinforce its attempts and modernization and relevancy in a society that increasingly shirks the terrestrial retail experience in favor of the (arguably) dangerous convenience of Amazon Prime and other online storefronts. The shopping mall will likely never regain its former glory as the nerve center of the American shopping experience, but as these storied structures continue to struggle and persist in an increasingly online environment, a few of them have managed to carve out a niche intriguing enough to draw in enough commerce to keep themselves alive. Vancouver Mall has managed to hold on, white-knuckled, as the rest of the mercantile marketplace crumbled around them. Without the advent of a new retail Renaissance, it may not be long before it too succumbs to the same disease that has eroded the foundations of Lloyd Center, Mall 205, and many of its other neighbors. It will have to continue to evolve, without losing (any more of) its soul; and if taking a picture does steal souls, as some cultures believe, then that selfie parlor is a portent of its encroaching doom! Don't get me wrong, I still love walking its halls and plazas, but I have to wonder how much of it is nostalgia, as opposed to any particularly relevant retail reason for visiting. I keep returning, but it's never the place I remember from my childhood, and sadly, it probably never will be again. read more

I won't lie, as a child of the 80s I ****ing LOVE malls to the max! I remember watching the 1978 Dawn of the Dead when they get trapped in the mall and thinking 'those lucky, lucky, survivors'! This one? It's like stepping back in time to when malls were the happening place to be. It's got LOADS of interesting little shops along with the big box places you expect as anchors, an AMAZING arcade, and a movie theater that serves beer (thx Pacific Northwest!) If you're a frugal mall shopper like myself who loves a good stroll surrounded by the best and shiniest of rampant consumerism, I can't recommend this place strongly enough. The people watching is ON POINT and there's so many unique shops that I always find myself browsing things I had no idea were so fascinating. Hang it out in Vancouver Mall. Malls typically, especially if they're indoor has never been my favorite place to be. But every now and then you gotta walk through and see what's what. They seem to be well stocked with everything you might be looking. It does seem to cater to the younger crowd. You won't find many high end stores but it will suit the everyday ordinary person like me. read more

Very nice mall. Open, clean and plenty of shops to browse through. Its definitely not a dead mall. Ok. So the mall wasn't packed with tons of people. That's FINE for me since I dont like walking in huge crowds trying to fight my way through to see anything. Yes, the dying mall epidemic is happening all around the US, but at least this mall is still living. I didn't see many closed shops or elderly people just walking around using the mall for exercise. Tons of young families and even teens acting as if mating season has started. Oh yeah...I guess it is almost spring. Anyway. I think it is a very nice mall. Even the pet store that someone complained about...is a nice store. Ya know...they dont keep those pets in there all day and all night long. It's not like a rescue place where they eat, sleep, poop in a kennel all day and always look miserable. No. These animals are well cared for. Super clean and not a poop in sight. They just have them in there a few hours at a time. No cruelty is happening there. So yeah...go walk around. Enjoy the shops. Sniff some candles. Play some games. Eat and be merry before the coronavirus attacks everyone and your stuck inside doing nothing. read more

Mall would be decent if they didn't have those darn shoe cleaning people always harassing people. I literally always wear sandals to the mall now when and if I have to go and they still bother me. "Aye let me clean you slides" "Cmon, come over here" "It'll take 5 minutes" No leave me alone, I'm just trying to get in and out. I don't want to be bothered every time I go. They ask and bother so many people that they don't even know they already asked you. You can literally buy new shoes from the mall, put it on, and they will say hey let me clean you shoes for you. If I wanted shoe cleaner I would buy it. Those guys remind me of Jehovah witnesses. read more

A few months ago I visited Vancouver Mall for the first time in at least 5 years. I was shopping for an outfit for an upscale event I was going to attend and did not have much time to devote to shopping. Upon entering the mall I was approached by a man selling skincare at a kiosk in the mall. I was rushed but feeling as if I could use a refresher in my skin routine so I started listening to his sales pitch. Instantly I was made to feel uncomfortable as he kept referring to my age and my skin in a negative way. He put some treatments on my skin and started really pressing me to purchase the items. I had questions about the products and he gave evasive answers while continuing to refer to my age and implying I had not taken care of my skin and had used cheap products. He had not even asked what products I used but somehow felt insulting me was a selling point for his products. I asked him to remove the face mask he had applied so I could continue my shopping. He said he needed to remove it in the salon. I was directed to a shop within the mall. Saffron. Things became very comfortable as he was pressing me to spend thousands of dollars on some kind of apparatus to remove wrinkles. He was extremely pushy and rude, desperately trying to convince me to make a purchase right then. He would not let me think about it and kept saying the deal was going to expire. I felt preyed upon and was making excuses and trying to remain friendly as I extricated myself from the pushy salesman. In the end I had to become very firm and practically push him away to make him stop. He realized he went too far and relented standing aside to let me pass. I was so exhausted from what felt like an assault on me not only emotionally but physically that I left the mall without even looking at an outfit for my event. I called the Vancouver Mall management the next day and relayed my experience with Saffron and the salesman expressing my feeling of unease of being accosted in a public space by an aggressive salesman and how excessive and predatory my experience was in hopes they would speak with the Saffron company and not allow such predatory tactics to be used on shoppers. I spoke with a receptionist. She was very sympathetic and horrified by my experience, she took notes to relay to her manager and promised I would at least get a return call to address my concerns. That has never happened. It's been at least three months. Needless to say I will never shop at Vancouver Mall again as I do not feel like management cares for the customers shopping experience. I will take my business to where I am not accosted by pushy rude salesmen that prey on unwilling shoppers. read more

I swear that I did review this place but apparently that's not the case! I LOVE this mall! (As much as I can like malls!) It's a great size and has a great amount of stores with a nice variety in my opinion! I think the food court is exceptional! There's several big name places while also having small name places and mall exclusive places! (Plus there may be a local place as well but I don't live in Vancouver so I'm not completely sure!) Of course this has AMC (used to be Cinetopia) connected to it/basically an actual part of the mall because there's no entrance straight in from the outside! It's also got the big banner stores like JCPenny and Macy's which is nice! It may not be on the same level as some Portland malls (which can seem disappointing because 10-20 more minutes gets you to Portland!) but I think it holds its own well enough! Vancouver mall has a great space for families there is an indoor toddler play area and a nearby family bathroom and nursing space (next to JC penny's). There are two individual family bathrooms each with a big toilet and small toilet and big and small sink. There is a bottle warmer and changing pad and even a fenced in area that has two nursing spaces behinds curtains and a big climbing toy and a locked up tv tuned in to nick jr. Perfect spot to take care of your babies. Such a nice feature to the mall. read more

I am a bit old fashioned when I say I miss the games that used to cost a Nickle, quarter, or game token but it was perfect for my son and fun for Me and hey my son got to drive a car before going into the arcade that was super cool read more

I was working out at Golds Gym on Tuesday Feb 20th from 9am to 1130am. When I came out I noticed someone tried to break into my gas tank by breaking my locking gas cap. Broken gas cap in the ground. Also needles on the ground my my truck. I reported it to Golds Gym and I spoke to security later about it. The security guy hasn't written a report or even spoken to Golds Gym. Isn't that his entire job is to provide security and find out the details about it? Look At security cameras, etc. Not just ignore the situation. read more

If you live on the Mainland, a mall is probably just a mall. Having visited from Hawaii, this is a mall unlike what we have. We have big name stores like LV, Gucci etc. You know, lots of designer stuff. What we don't have is stuff the average mo joe likes. And this mall has it. There is a bowling alley, theatre, axe throwing, laser gun all in the mall. Like I said, HI does not have this. They also have Hobby Lobby and lots of shops that carry anime stuff that my kid liked. The mall is one long rectangle with 2 floors. Lots of walking. I had to take a break and sit in one of those massage chairs and get a cheap $5/20minute massage. It was worth it. They also have a massage place in the mall, but didn't want my kid waiting around bored. Macy's is the big departure store along with JC Penney's. They also have all kinds of retail, shoes, anime, and eateries. We came on a Wednesday and despite everything being open, it was not busy which is great if you hate crowds. Everything looked cleaned and organized. Many stores still require masks so be prepared. read more

Wow, talk about a dated and depressing mall. Poor lighting, awful stores (some that i recall being around 20 years ago so I guess they come to the Vancouver Mall to die) and just an unpleasant experience all around. The ONLY stores we liked were "Ulta" and "Victoria's Secret". It was practically empty with store employees just standing around in many places. This mall DESPERATELY needs an overhaul...I have NO intention of going back (heck, I'd rather just bite the bullet and drive to Portland where they have good malls-this place is a total dump.) read more

I went here on Friday around 8pm. I went over to the sprint store (ste 9125 first floor) and got the best service from there sales associate Jacob D. He got me a wonderful new phone and got a great deal for me through their manager. I now have the Galaxy Note 8 Paying 33$ a month. I am beyond grateful for his help! He stayed till after closing to make sure he could get me the phone I wanted! I have never had such great customer service with any other company. We just had a very negative encounter with the manager who either runs the Santa Booth or is affiliated with them all she is a young smaller woman with lots of piercings she was extremely rude to us in front of my young daughter and cut us off at the Santa line at 7 when they close at 9 and was extremely rude change language in front of my child that I wouldn't use in front of my own mother I will be calling headquarters read more

I LOVE this mall. From previous reviews I guess it used to be called Westfield Mall and wasn't very nice. It's amazing now though! There were so many stores that appealed to me, the budget geek shopper. The list of stores include: Old Navy Food court with diverse options Cinema (cinepolis) Forever 21 Francesca's Brazanga (boba!!) And many many more. My favorite part? There is a LIBRARY. Its smaller than your average standalone library but there's a great selection and great staff. Its new and beautiful to boot. Its the closest library to me and I love how convenient it is. Parking is super easy. There is never difficulty in finding a spot. Mall is very beautiful, modern and clean. There are escalators at both ends and staircases throughout. The staircases are the modern type made of glass and steel- my favorite! Overall I highly recommend!! Look at their directory for a full list of stores. I may be overcompensating, but it's much better than I expected. When I had heard Nordstom was closing like in Lloyd Center I assumed the malls were similar. The reality is it is a nice mall with its shops full. It even has some highlights like a Cinetopia and of corse a food court, Macy's etc, Its a good size mall and there are more shops surrounding the mall. I've been to Cinetopia a couple of times, It is nice and the mall is actually fairly good. read more

I came here while I was visiting the area with family. We had come here to see a movie, but had some time before to eat and look around. There is a good variety and selection of stores and food places in this mall. It is a large mall, with parking all around it. We came on a weekend night and there was some difficulty finding parking by where we needed to walk in, but it was not too bad. Next time I'm in the area I will stop by. read more
