When it comes down to quality and price Mega Mart would be my first choice as the best Korean supermarket in the South Bay. They have a tremendous 30% savings on kimbaps, japchae, bibimbap, ttekobokki, kimchi pancake/rice and side dishes commonly known as banchan they even have food court far cheaper than dining out at a Korean restaurants. They have fresh produce, veggies and fruits as Bro and I would spend alot on food, beer and snacks best of all it wasn't even crowded on a Friday afternoon though it was still raining. Can't believe I didn't know this store existed until now! Went here due to the hype over the corn mochi - they have a bakery inside the store that has two packs of mochi of different types. I went in the evening, and although the bakery counter was closed, the packs of mochi and other goodies were still out for sale. I got the pack with the corn mochi (the other mochi is potato). I thought the mochi would only look like the food that it's shaped as, but both had a pretty strong flavor of its respective food item. Corn lovers must try this mochi! I love potato, but the potato flavor in this mochi tasted almost too earthy, so I'd probably try a different flavor next time. I asked for a bandaid as she was bleeding along with an alcohol wipe or something to disinfect. The staff there just looked at each other and shrugged. Finally got the attention of a 'manager' who directed someone to grab a band aid. They disappeared and after 5 minutes no show. I then asked the cashier to call and she just shrugged. Horrible customer service. I wanted to check out this store but will never return. They can't even complete a simple task of helping a customer. This is the cleanest and best Korean supermarket I have ever been to. Located in Sunnyvale on El Camino in a private lot, there's plenty of parking spaces. Upon walking in you'll instantly notice how clean, bright, and open this store is. The meats are along the back wall with a huge selection of marinated and non-marinated LA Kalbi, angus short ribs, bulgogi, chicken, and pork. There's also several refrigerated sections of various kimchi brands and variety. Precooked and prepared dishes, meals, and sushi can be found along the left back of the store. I picked up some kim chi, sautéed spinach, and pickled radishes side dishes last time and they were all excellent! I would like to try their bi bim bap, sushi rolls, and nigiri next time. This is a Korean grocery store nicely laid out like Hmart but slightly smaller however they still have a bakery section, cooked food section on top of the regular stuff you can buy at the grocery. This is my favorite Korean market in the Peninsula/South Bay. It's clean, well stocked, and cheaper than HMart for the same or similar items. The meats and produce are always fresh and priced well. They also have small sushi and sashimi section, and the quality is great and very fresh. It's got all the essentials, a great variety of mushrooms that I love and know I can ALWAYS find here (and sometimes at a special price) all the veggies your heart desires and pretty much all your Korean essentials like frozen mandu, kimchi, instant noodles, etc. the best part about the store is their ready to eat lunch options. Since they weren't freshly made, I went home & popped them in the air fryer to get it crisp & warm again. Turned out perfect!! Sweet Potato - Probably my favorite. Super delicious filling that's perfect with the rice cake outer shell. Corn - Second favorite. Yummy sweet corn on the inside! Chestnut - I've never had a flavor profile like this before. Mildly nutty, not really sweet, but I enjoyed it. Pumpkin - I'm not too big a fan of pumpkin flavored things, but this was pretty good. Very earthy & not that sweet either. Finally got the chance to check out this market and was pleasantly surprised by all large variety of groceries and prepared foods. There was a ton of fresh produce and plenty of sales throughout so lots of options if we were to come here for our weekly grocery run. We were tempted by the adorable cream puffs in the bakery section but ended up getting the sweet potato bread which was amazing! Soft milk bread with a ton of sweet potato pieces throughout the bread! I can't recommend it enough, the sweet potato adds a great amount of natural flavor and I could eat this every week. We also got the eel and tonkatsu bowls to go along with salmon and yellowtail sashimi and everything was awesome. Man! I thought the Fremont Mega Mart was pretty cool, but this Sunnyvale Mega Mart is such a vibe!! It's darker with awesome Korean music playing. I ended up buying things I didn't know I needed (story of my life, especially at Target.. ) They food court is so nice and they have the Dubai Chocolate, and it's affordable!! My daughter loves coming here for the hot deli foods (sushi, buns, japchae, rice bowls, chicken wings, etc). There's usually something marked 30% off in the deli, which is always a pleasant surprise when it's something you were planning to get. They have a good selection of shabu shabu meats. And of course there are the usual items like fruits & vegetables, meat & seafood, instant noodles, sauces, soups, bakery items, snacks, ice cream, etc. They have a clean bathroom with a diaper changing station. And I appreciate the "foot pull" on the door, so you can exit the restroom without touching a door handle. There is ample parking in the parking lot. To my surprise they had Korean raw marinated crab here - it's been on my bucket list for a while so I was pretty excited to give it a try. It seems like a newer supermarket - they have a HUGE produce section are limited in some items like ramen noodles. Everything here I found pretty affordable, a tad bit cheaper than H-Mart. The Korean raw marinated crab (soy) - although the crab itself tasted pretty fresh, the marinade had a huge jalapeno in it that overwhelmed the entire thing. I wish I got the spicy one instead! For catering, the spicy tofu and fried egg pancake peppers, white fish and imitation crab were so good. Kimbap was bland. Japchae was mostly noodles. The chicken was dry and needed sauce. Kalbi was dry. I think if they paid just a little more attention to the taste, it could be much better (I think their focus is variety). The prices were very good here, especially for kids snacks! For spending $40.00 on their in-house-made foods, I'd rather go to an AYCE KBBQ place or somewhere else. I had some bad interactions with some cashiers; they're not too attentive or sometimes not too friendly either. When you first walk into Mega Mart, you will be mesmerized by how clean and well organized the store is. As you walk towards their in-house-made food, you want to buy everything because it looks so good, but later you find out that their food is lacking in many ways. Hands down one of the best supermarket I've been. The store is huge, aisles are wide, products are well organized and the place is clean. Lots of fruits and veggies. They have an incredible variety of mushrooms - from the earthy, woodsy shiitake to the dense, firm king oyster mushrooms. Kimchi! Lots of them too and they also carry vegan variety as an added bonus. I heard of this new Korean market opening in Sunnyvale so decided to check it out as a family since we were near the area. Parking is plentiful and the market is spacious. I did not think there was a wide selection of meats to barbecue but my husband seemed to think so. We did not get any this time though. I was very impressed with the premade foods, both hot and cold. I stocked up on some snacks, dinner and lunch for the next day. They have nice premade bibimbap bowls with rice. There is also a cafeteria like area with tables, chairs and even a microwave to heat up your foods if you want to eat there. The shopping market also has a free membership points program. Service was efficient and there was someone handing out samples. He explained what the dish was and where we can find it in the store. I come here pretty frequently and started to notice that some items don't scan as the sale price posted and if l catch it in time they'll honor the sale price but sometimes I don't notice until I'm home! This is a huge red flag for me like it happens once, I'll let it slide but I've noticed this a couple of times now... I don't like to be watching the price list like a hawk during check out and would rather just trust that the store is charging the correct price.
