I was fine at the end but would be cautious of cross contamination with a severe allergy. East Meets Wings is Playground ATX's current concept. I knew I was in for a treat when I learned that the food was the successor to Fil'N'Viet. Order at the counter and food is brought to your table. Water is also brought in a carafe. Service here is very fast. We got our food less than 12 minutes after ordering. Note that they are cashless. I got the Mala Whole Wings with Tater Tots and Goi, with calamansi mayo and a Filipino barbecue skewer. Highly recommend the calamansi mayo - a lime, tangy mayo that's perfect for dipping. The Mala Whole Wings were a great level of spice. I wasn't as big of a fan of the goi (used to more fish sauce and more carrots) but it was okay. The tater tots were excellent, perfectly crispy. I got to try my friend's sinigang wings and thought they were decent, but I liked the Mala flavor better. Finished the meal with Ube soft serve - 5/5 would highly recommend.

Chicken and wings all ways, this place brings big flavors onto big wings, with delicious sides and desserts. It's sort of half service where you order at the front and they bring/bus your food/trays. It's a simple but nice interior with a little bit of outdoor bar seating as well, definitely better if it's warmer out. We got three different styles of wings and a couple of sides to see what they offered. I liked the VFC and AG the best as they had nice flavor and weren't too salty. The tamarind was a bit too salty for me, but with the brussels, pickles, and slaw, there was some much needed acidity to balance things. I think the pricing is a bit high on the wings for how much you get but it's a fun concept and we need more Asian food in Austin. Hopefully they'll stick around and open a food truck somewhere in town.

A manager kindly helped seat us at the last table that could fit a high chair, and our server was perfectly pleasant. Then we watched an older Uber Eats driver ask for an update on an order after being told it would be ready in five minutes. More than ten minutes later, when he checked again, the assistant manager was openly rude and dismissive. He told the driver he could not make the kitchen move any faster and then said, "Why don't you leave and come back then if you're in such a hurry." That interaction was bad enough that we canceled our food order, paid for our drinks, and left. When asked why, I explained exactly what we had witnessed. The response: "Don't worry about that, he's just an Uber driver." That told us everything we needed to know. We do not want to support a business where management treats people that way and then defends it. We will not be back. John, you should be ashamed of yourself.

I was in the area for work and looking for a relatively local place. Another Broken Egg is a chain,…read moreyes, but only in the sense that they have other locations in Texas. This trait is both an upside to the local vibe and quality, but a detriment that it is so far from where I live. Because I would definitely be a regular. There were lots of folks waiting on this Saturday morning as I had time to kill before flying home, after visiting the area for work. But, the host station handled everything well, quickly acknowledged people coming in, communicated clearly, and added folks to a text-based notification system. I opted to wait for the bar area and it proved to be faster. The bar staff were phenomenal, friendly, energetic and perfectly attentive. It's a modern cafe in a "strip mall" shopping area in a sense, but still, worth visiting. For the food, I had the coffee. OMG great Colombian coffee, so good. I drank it black - it needed no help. Adding cream or sugar would be an insult. And it was served in a beautiful stoneware mug. I ended up buying one as a souvenir ($23 at the time of this post). I also had the lobster brie omelette. I wasn't 100% on it by the name, but wow - it was amazing. The lobster was just right, it blended with the brie very well, and the eggs and other additions made a beautiful omelette ensemble that hit the spot.

On this visit, the ideas were there, but the execution felt like it took the morning off. The Lobster & Brie Omelette sounded like it was aiming for a little coastal glamour, the kind of dish that should feel light, silky, and just a touch celebratory. Instead, the Brie came in like it had something to prove. It sat on top in a thick, molten sheet that never melted into the eggs -- it just smothered them. Pair that with cream cheese inside, and the whole thing leaned dense and sticky on the palate. The lobster was tender, but it didn't stand a chance under all that dairy. In Austin, where chefs know how to let a star ingredient breathe, this felt more like "we had Brie, so we used Brie" than any real culinary intention. The gumbo missed the mark in a different way. The first spoonful tasted thin, like the roux never fully committed. It didn't have that slow‑built depth or warmth that makes gumbo feel like it's been tended to. The seafood didn't bring much character because the base wasn't there to support it. Honestly, the focaccia on the side had more personality than the gumbo itself -- and that's not the hierarchy you want. Service was warm and the space pleasant, but the food felt like ambition without follow‑through. In a city where brunch is practically a competitive sport and where balance, technique, and restraint are the norm -- these dishes needed more refinement and a clearer sense of flavor priorities. With a little more intention, they could be far more compelling than they were on this visit. Tell me this, Yelp fam... what is your fav brunch spot? Write a review about it if you have one.

We arrived and they have a great patio, had live music and there were quite a few people there. We elected to go inside since we had been out all day and we ordered beers, some deserts, and I ordered an 'Ol Fashioned. Oddly enough, great chocolate and a fantastic 'Ol Fashioned go well together. However, the brownie was really dry - seemed to a a few days old, and the drink was just OK. They indicated it would be made with a mix so that probably my bad. My friend had a couple of beers and another dessert but his feedback was the same. I would have liked to stay longer and come back on another night to see if my first visit was an anomaly. I would think they normally have better drinks and food than we had on our first visit!
