    Grass jelly #2 (first bowl)
    Issan Z.

I tried to go during their opening promotion (50% off!!), but the line up was way too long. So I waited a couple weeks and went today! What a treat!! The weather was pretty warm and we were excited to eat some refreshing desserts. There was no line up and even some available tables inside, so we were pretty happy. We got the grass jelly #2 (toppings: Sweet Potato+Barley+Boba+Mini Taro Ball) and taro ball #4 (toppings: Taro+Red Bean+Boba). They gave me a beeper and I went to wait at our table. Not even 10 min later, my beeper signaled that food was ready. The desserts were absolutely delicious!! The shaved ice was gently doused in brown sugar syrup, which gave a beautiful caramelly taste to the dish. The consistency of the taro balls was great, and the other toppings complemented each other. They forgot to give me the creamer to pour on top of the grass jelly, so I went to ask for it. They apologized for the mistake and offered to remake the bowl! I declined and just asked for the creamer, but they insisted... So I got a second bowl of dessert. I was pretty full at this point so we took the rest home. Really nice service! The menu is extremely flexible, and you can pretty much make your own custom bowl of goodness with their selection of extra toppings. Prices are not cheap, but portions are quite generous and the quality is really nice. I think it's worth mentioning that most of the desserts at Meet Fresh use ingredients uncommonly found in Western desserts (e.g. the "medicinal" taste of grass jelly might be an acquired taste). These ingredients are also fairly unprocessed (e.g. chunks of boiled sweet potato). It might seem unusual, but is quite refreshing! We'll be back for sure! The shaved ice plates look amazing!

I like this dessert place. They have variety of choices. You can adjust the sweetness of some of the items, and most of the bubble teas/ drinks. I found their price is slightly higher than average but the amount of food is not more than average. The restaurant is very clean and nice. Overall I'll go back to try more things.

Overall a good experience. It's a nice place to hang out and honestly the desserts are yummy. My only reservation is that in my dish I got much less amount of taro balls compared to what was shown in their menu pictures.

Meet Fresh has an extensive choice of dessert! It is a great place for Taiwanese desserts! They serve both hot and cold drinks and desserts such as Taiwanese shaved ice and hot red bean soup with taro ball. It is quite pricey, but the portions of the shaved ice are large. You probably need to share one with 3 to 4 people to finish it. The red bean shaved ice was incredible! The condensed milk dripped slowly down to the milk shaved ice and to the red bean from the scoop of vanilla ice cream. Heaven! It was very sweet, however, if you take a sip of the purple rice drink, it balances out the sweetness of the shaved ice. The Gemini shaved ice was very good, not too excessively sweet compare to the red bean shaved ice. The strawberries and mangos were very fresh! I would recommend ordering this one if you prefer something less sweet. The toppings in the Q mochi shaved ice include a scoop of ice cream, taro ball, pudding, tapioca pearls and Q mochi. The toppings were very chewy and my favourite would be the taro ball! The taro balls were soft and chewy with a subtle sweetness. Pleased to find an outpost of this dessert franchise in Montreal! These classic Taiwanese desserts are great for sharing, so go with others. The shaved ice was huge--almost too big! The almond pudding was nice and creamy, and the red bean was a good texture. There were so many drink choices, I just went with one I knew, but you can play around with all sorts of ingredients. The posted menu is a little hard to read, so be sure to pick up a printed menu, but then please, as a courtesy to others, step back from the counter while you decide. I saw a big group there clogging up the queue, preventing others from ordering! The teas you can obviously get to go, but plan on hanging out to eat the shaved ice. They have free WiFi too, so I can see this being a place to hang out for students!

A good place for bubble tea. Lots of selection, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The order took a while, but the place was busy and they offered a buzzer.

A chain dessert bar from Taiwan. Chinese name is 鲜芋仙。I tried it in China before and I loved it. When I heard about it opening in Montreal I was so thrilled. There is always a line when I passed by before. This time I found a late night time 9:30 to visit, and it's still packed. Went to counter to order and got a beeping reminder to pick up the food. We had one bowl of taro and taro balls mixed(#4), and one almond pudding( like a soft tofu) with mochi ( sticky rice cake). They were authentic. We loved both dishes. The shaved ice was poured on some black sugar syrup, so good. Mochi was covered with same syrup too. The texture of mochi was very chewy which was unique to me. Will come back again to try other dishes.

Finally some good traditional chinese desserts. They serve a variety of items, such as grass jelly, mochi, taro, tofu pudding, milk tea, etc. The almond pudding is so smooth and has a strong almond taste. Everything is pretty good. The milk tea tastes a bit ordinary, but adding mini taro balls in it definitely makes it better. There was a huge lineup today for the opening because everything is half price for the first 3 days. The place is nicely decorated and the staff is nice. After ordering, the food came very quickly. Don't forget to get the app to get a free drink and points!

Amazing shaved ice! It looked insane and it takes 4 people to eat, we couldn't finish it all! I wish I could try some of the other things! Also it's not a great idea to eat in the winter, they do have much better options! They also have bubble tea which was good too! Service was quick and it is also very interesting that a lot of people had takeout!

Another place that is really hyped but I was not impressed... in fact, I know that Meet Fresh is rather famous in Toronto, but I find the prices rather high for taro desserts. I think that the desserts that they offer do not match with the photos that they show us and when I went there with a friend, he found it too watery and not very appetizing. I think that it would not be a place that I would return.

Stumbled into this place by mistake.. they have surprisingly amazing desserts much better than other options around. Try the shaved ice mango and strawberry, it's huge. Even the bubble tea was pretty good. Next time will try their hot bowls, they look yummy too!

Spacious. Walk in and order, given a number to wait for it. Love the atmosphere here. Can just sit and hang out with big groups too. Was looking for traditional dessert (less sweet) and got just what I wanted! Would recommend -the milk tea with taro and boba: the taro in the drink adds a root-y flavor that naturally sweetens the drink. -The shaved ice: enough to share for 3-4 people to be honest. Was a bit too much but the two of us hunkered down and finished it. The pudding was tasty, the black sesame mochi had filling. The other sides were ok; a bit tasteless but the condense milk made up for that -the hot almond drink to help balance out all that shaved ice!

They offer varieties of desserts from hot to cold. Perfect for every season! I tasted their boba shaved iced, it was pretty good at the beginning, but at the end it only tasted like plain ice. The portions are big, you could share the shaved ice with 4 people.

I have had Le Roi du Wonton on my list of places to try for years now, but they aren't open on the weekends and when we come to Montreal, it's usually just for the weekend. However, we were in Montreal on a Friday and early enough to dine there before they closed at 7pm so I finally got to experience their delightful wontons. I ordered their famous namesake, the wonton soup ($6.99) and my husband got the General Tao Shrimp ($17.99). My husband was so excited to see General Tao Shrimp on the menu. It was our first time seeing such an item. He LOVES General Tao Chicken and he LOVES shrimp, so he had to get the General Tao Shrimp. He loved it! His dish had 10 large and juicy shrimp battered and deep-fried with a sweet, spicy and sour sauce on top with onions, carrots, bell peppers and green onions. The sauce was reminiscent of the sauce on sweet and sour pork, but with a spicy kick. I had one shrimp and agree that it was fantastic. His dish came with a small bowl of white rice. My wonton soup was also delicious. It came with 5 huge wontons. Like the biggest wontons I've ever seen in my life, lol. They were filled with ground pork. The filling was a little saltier than I like, but I don't eat a lot of salt, so I think most people would think it's fine. It had some chopped up lettuce, thin slices of omelette, seaweed, some pickled vegetable that I could not identify, and green onions. Very tasty and such a good price! We got a pot of complimentary jasmine tea to start. And for dessert we were given complimentary wafers. Two sweet little old ladies ran the show when we were there. They were very welcoming. And they practiced excellent hand hygiene. They were both cooking in the kitchen when I went up to pay. One of them washed her hands before and after cashing me out at the register. The place is very utilitarian. You do not come for the decor. They seem to have some faithful regulars though. When we were there a lady who appeared like she perhaps came every Friday as when she arrived she announced it's Friday and she was greeted like they were expecting her. She ordered a dish to eat there and one to take away afterwards. I can see why they would have a loyal following. I definitely recommend! Street parking only, as expected for this part of town. We walked over from our hotel. Oh, it's cash or debit only. They don't take credit cards. (116)

They seem to do a fair bit of takeaway for bubble teas and foods. We were seated quickly and the menu was accessible via a QR code, except the code printed on our table was so faded that our scanner didn't recognise it and we had initial trouble loading up the menu. There was another of the same code printed on a specials menu, which is how we got our menu up. The food took about 10 minutes and there were a few other groups dining in. The vasir rice is something we had wanted to try for a few months, and it was overall worth the wait, although it's still not my all-time fave minced pork rice. The pork was tender and thankfully they serve a good amount of juice so the whole thing wasn't dry, which has been an issue with some other versions of this dish elsewhere. The use of stir fried veggies is interesting and again something we haven't seen elsewhere, and while it's not my fave, it's one of the better versions we've had. I initially balked at the seemingly copious amounts of sauce over the cheese potato korokke, but apparently we needed all that sauce and, while is rather not have cheese in my korokke, it was cooked like it should (crisp on the outside, tender inside) and was tasty. Staff come around with a handheld EFTPOS for payment, and it was all in all a pretty seamless experience. I would return for the same and other stuff in the future.

The general Tao poutine was surprisingly really delicious and unique! It used sweet potato fries and instead of gravy, a sweet savory sauce! The squid tentacles were super crispy. The iron plate noodles were kind of basic. It straight up tasted of just black pepper. The oyakodon was pretty okay too. The beef noodle soup had really chewy noodles and the beef was good but portion was smaller than I thought. Don't order this if you can't handle spice! The drinks were especially good and extremely worth it if you order their biggest size! Love that they come with so many options and toppings.
