The worst thing about this place was not the cost (I was willing to pay for the best care), not that it didn't give my cat good care(hospital staff was courteous), the worst thing about this place is that it sold me hope... they told me my cat was in the best care available and made me believe that if I threw money at the problem that I could have my cat home again in my arms within a few days They couldn't tell me what was wrong with him I asked the vets and they COULDNT FIGURE IT OUT let alone fix his underlying issues. I can't imagine what was going on in my cat's mind after he was getting blood transfusion after blood transfusion sleeping in a metal cage for weeks. I burned through $20,000 and only to have my beloved cat put down. I feel burned out holding on to hope, calling multiple times throughout the day and waking up and calling at night asking if there was any update. And being assuaged things were under control when they had no idea how to treat him and kept making excuses they've "never seen a case like this before." When I'm burning through thousands of dollars the least they could've done was give me an accurate prognosis. They did not set realistic expectations and just kept asking for more time which was 1500 a day. Know that if you go here, you could be charged an arm and a leg, sold a pipe dream and walk away by yourself instead of with your pet you adopted as family. What are you willing to pay for that dream to do everything for your pet? Because whatever you're willing to pay they will take from you.. I hate that I agreed to everything under duress at the height of panic, I was painted a picture that I could go home with my beloved pet but I went home with an empty wallet, a broken heart but worst of all I came home to an empty cat bed.

Goody recovering from stomach surgery!

This place saved my baby goody's life. The only negative thing is they take FOREVER. I am sure there is good reason for that so I will let that go. They were all so sweet and answered any questions I had and did not get rude when I called multiple times to check on my baby. Thank you for making sure I got to bring my baby home.

Milo Lee

I lost my son Milo Lee on 12/01/2024. Dayton MedVet was the most supportive, caring, and overall wonderful people I could have asked to be there. They were fast, efficient, and made sure to communicate to me each step of the way. They tried everything they could to save my son. We were hopeful that Milo would pull through this urinary issue, just as the staff was. To hear the disappointment when they called us and to see the sadness when we got there truly showed me they cared about my babies life. I will forever be thankful for the staff for helping me through the worst moments of my life, I will forever be thankful for their wisdom and their honesty with his condition. Thank you for caring for my boy and I in his last moments.

I Took My Baby Boy Here On Sunday December 29th. I was completely devastated and emotional with him being so sick. The total lack of empathy I received from the male worker here was unbelievable. We were approached with a dollar amount to even start any kind of treatment and find out the issue he was having. Me and my husband were told we could be given a moment to discuss our options and what we wanted to do. Within literally 2 minutes the same gentleman ( and I use that term loosely) Came back and said we need to get in a room to start the process of helping him pass. We had NEVER even said that was our decision. I felt so rushed and confused. Sadly we left that day without our baby and I was never even given an answer to what was a wrong with him. We did choose to have him cremated so he could always be with us and the lady that helped us through that process was very patient and helpful. My mind was in such a fog the days following that I didn't or couldn't process the experience but now I am thinking back and I would NEVER RECOMMEND anyone taking there pet here. Our dog was our family. He was 10 years old and we had picked him from his litter at 7 weeks old. He was with us everyday for 10 years. No different than a human child. This whole experience has left me beyond devastated.

Our little Winnie will always be with us everywhere we go.

Where is the best place to take a dog that may have back trouble? in Ohio

I ended up at Care Center after I thought my 4-pound Yorkie had gotten into the trash and was worried about a blockage in his intestines. After several hours of waiting for an ultrasound at MetVet, I was sent home and told to "monitor" his behavior. Long story short, he continued his symptoms and I took him to Care Center (after a less than satisfactory experience at MedVet), where Dr. Raghu not only comforted me, but discovered his symptoms were actually from a pre-existing condition. Since being treated, he's gained almost a whole pound to finally reach a healthy weight, and I couldn't be more grateful for the internal medicine staff (they even provided an email address which I used frequently during the early days of his treatment). I cannot say enough good things about Care Center... And I know my little pup feels the same!

We left around midnight without our boy. He was not ready to leave this world and had a lot more to offer. He was only 3 year old. Please do not let someone talk you into something you feel in your heart is wrong. I miss my little boy everyday.

On Monday when we got home from a lunch out we couldn't find our Chloe, we looked everywhere, hearing little whimperings we tracked her down and she had somehow wedged herself between a chair and a table and couldn't get out. She was disoriented and not really responding to us. We decided even though it was Labor Day we needed to get her too a doctor. so we chose the veteran emergency group in Oakley as they were a 24-hour a day clinic. We gave a call first to make sure they were open on a holiday. they took some basic information. told us to come over and sent a link to my phone so I could pre-register. When we arrived we were ushered in and although they were busy, Dr. Irene came over and started reviewing what the situation was, because of pre-registering everything went quite efficiently. They took Chloe's vital signs and put them into the computer and then when Dr. Irene was completed taking care of another patient, she came over and we discussed potential options. At Chloe's advanced age there was very little that could be done other than painkillers, but it was obvious that we had a very big decision to make. Irene, showing immense compassion led us through our options, and Pam and I made a tough decision to have Chloe go gently with us by her side.

Extremely disappointing and stressful experience during an emergency We brought my son's cat to MedVet in the middle of the night during an emergency, after speaking with her regular vet and being told she urgently needed IV fluids. We arrived expecting emergency care. We were there for over two hours, and during that time, no treatment was provided--even though they agreed she needed care. Instead, the focus felt overwhelmingly centered on cost. The pattern was repetitive: an assessment, followed by "here's what we would like to do, but here's the cost," over and over. We had already confirmed we would pay and had signed the paperwork, yet the constant cost discussions delayed care to the point that I finally asked them to stop. This process was incredibly stressful, especially for my son, who was simply desperate to get his cat the treatment she needed. Ultimately, they decided to give her fluids and keep her overnight so another vet could treat her in the morning. Tragically, she passed away. I understand that veterinary care is expensive and that transparency matters--but in an emergency setting, urgency and compassion should come first. Based on our experience, I would only use MetVet as an absolute last resort. There are other emergency veterinary options in the area that provide far better care and communication during crisis situations. Edited because I had a typo in the name of the clinic. This is the MedVet in Eastgate on Red Bank Road.

I ended up discovering it myself once we got home. Additionally, some of the front desk staff showed a complete lack of empathy and did not take concerned pet parents seriously. The interaction was dismissive and lacked basic compassion. Overall, this was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. I strongly recommend going to a different MedVet location. The front desk staff here seem overwhelmed and in need of a break, and unfortunately, it shows in the level of care and compassion provided.

From the moment I walked in, no one even took me seriously. They asked me why I brought him in and I told them gastrointestinal issues. They asked if he was urinating and I was like "ummmm maybe?" The person at the front desk called for a tech "stat because the cat isn't urinating." We get into a room and they come in a few minutes later after examining him wanting to ask some questions. I told them another cat in my house had just had gastrointestinal issues and been sick (brought it home from the vet's office the week prior we think). That wasn't even a question in their mind. The doctor who came to talk to me wanted to focus on "stress at home" and asked about his litter box and food. Then brought out an estimate for $1200 to have an x Ray and bloodwork done even though he had JUST had his wellness check at the vet within the last month and he was given a clean bill of health. They said "well things can change in a day." Ok fine - you're the professionals so I trust you. Nearly two hours later they come back and inform me that the bloodwork was normal and his x Ray was negative for blockage or abnormalities in his abdomen (thank goodness!) but said they could keep him and hospitalize him and send him for additional testing with an internal medicine doctor if I "really wanted to get to the bottom of things." They gave me NO answers and guidance about what was likely the problem and the doctor actually said "it could be cancer. We don't really know," and urged me to hospitalize him for what I'm sure would have been thousands more. I opted to get them to give him subcutaneous fluids and an anti nausea medication so I could take him home and pursue care with his primary vet. Turns out: virus. Thanks for the nice scare throwing out cancer for a 5-year old healthy cat with normal bloodwork and exams. Way to live those core values of caring about your patients and customers. I will NEVER use MedVet ever again. It is the biggest ripoff and runaround.

I recently lost my beloved 6 year old cat at MedVet after his 4 day stay there…read more That loss was very difficult and painful enough, but the over $12,000.00 vet bill for his care and stay made his death much, much worse due to the sad simple fact that MedVet does not offer either any kind of a bereavement discount if your pet dies in their care or any kind of a discount to seniors living on a limited income. Those types of compassionate discounts are something that they very seriously need to think about offering. I think it would seriously help with their ratings (and their ratings could frankly use some help). I honestly do trust that they did everything possible to save my cats life and they all appeared very professional, very caring, compassionate and concerned. However, their billing policies shows very clearly that their final bottom line is that they are very much a "for-profit business" and you should have no illusions about that if you take your pet there for help. The first thing they ask about after getting your name and your pets name and why you are there, is your credit card information. One final thought......please carefully look over their other reviews here (I sincerely wish I had before I took my poor cat there) and then think about what you have read in these reviews a bit and then honestly ask yourself: "Why are so, so many of their reviews only one star?" T.S.
