We took our dog there on Friday and it was not a good experience at all. They took him back for a triage check and then brought him back out to us to wait to see the doctor. 4-5 hours later, I had to ask if anyone was going to see him. Mind you, he has been getting chemo there and they stated when we checked in, that they would call his oncologist. They did not do this until hour 5 or so. The triage. It's was rude and didn't seem to care. I tried to tell her about the lump nodes not growing and her response, oh was oh trust me, they are still there. I know that. She didn't have to say it in such a rude way. 6 hours later, we leave. We have been up with him all night worried sick. The lack of empathy was absolutely horrible. It was like we were just a bother to them. It was busy yesterday and there were emergency situations and I was asked to feel bad for them because it is rough in them. They didn't care about us at all. Trust me, I know it is rough and I feel bad but yesterday was absolutely awful the way we were treated read more

I'll be brief. I recently lost my beloved 6 year old cat at MedVet after his 4 day stay there. That loss was very difficult and painful enough, but the over $12,000.00 vet bill for his care and stay made his death much, much worse due to the sad simple fact that MedVet does not offer either any kind of a bereavement discount if your pet dies in their care or any kind of a discount to seniors living on a limited income. Those types of compassionate discounts are something that they very seriously need to think about offering. I think it would seriously help with their ratings (and their ratings could frankly use some help). I honestly do trust that they did everything possible to save my cats life and they all appeared very professional, very caring, compassionate and concerned. However, their billing policies shows very clearly that their final bottom line is that they are very much a "for-profit business" and you should have no illusions about that if you take your pet there for help. The first thing they ask about after getting your name and your pets name and why you are there, is your credit card information. One final thought......please carefully look over their other reviews here (I sincerely wish I had before I took my poor cat there) and then think about what you have read in these reviews a bit and then honestly ask yourself: "Why are so, so many of their reviews only one star?" Feb 10th i take my dog into medvet in dayton ohio. Long story short he was brought in for a soft tissue mass under his jaw. $12,000 later and they did nothing for his jaw but give antibiotics and anti inflammatory meds. CT scans, xrays, blood work, fine needle aspiration, 2 days of 24 hour care to be returned to me with a game plan of doing a BE TUBE for his esophageal stricture..again, NOT the jaw issue at all. So I call up to Columbus medvet and they are now saying a BE tube isn't a good option. They want to do another round of ct scans and blood work and 2 more days of 24 hr care. Why? I already paid for ALL of that once but now they want another $10,200 to FINALLY ADDRESS THE THROAT ISSUE I ORIGINALLY BROUGHT HIM IN FOR. I can not be the only one who feels like medvet takes full advantage of the love we have for our pets and I dont say that lightly. Imagine if you hired me to do a brand new roof for you. I get there and start doing your floors, plumbing and electric and after you pay the bill of 12k I leave. You call back and say "can you do the roof?" And I say "oh yeah of course just pay me $10k more and ill do the original thing you asked for........ Greed. It's all about greed read more

Caring, care explained well and options provided whenever possible, clean, this office costs more to be open every day & night & deserves it. Have been there with various pets 5 times over many years & seen a few pet owners drowning in grief & fear. Medvets is for emergencies that most vets decline to see after most business hours these days of super high expectations thanks to TV & movies that most animals can be restored to health after deadly injuries or terminal illnesses, but that is often impossible. Used the one in Renner half a dozen times with various pets of my own & several found roadside that no one claimed. Care outstanding for emergencies your vet may not have capacity or equipment to handle 2p or 2 am. read more

I wish I could rate specific doctors. I brought my 3yrs old dog here after noticing changes in her effort to breathe as well as complete loss of control of her bladder. The staff at the front desk was welcoming, compassionate and very accommodating for my reactive dog. The nurse/tech was the same... I'd give them all 5 stars. The wait was long which I always understand and anticipate (it's good when you're not the most critical patient!) But after waiting 4hrs I was met with Dr. Michael McGinley. He was dismissive of my concerns and framed further diagnostics as optional and unadvisable. Because my dogs condition seemed better, I showed him videos from earlier that day that proved her struggle to breathe/catching her breath. He told me it was reverse sneezing. It was not. Despite my hesitation and respectful push back, I decided to listen to him and we went home. $200 for a set of vitals. After about an hour of being home, my dog continued to struggle. She couldn't catch her breath, had a persistent and relentless cough and began puking. I took her back. Again all the front staff was amazing, I requested a new doctor and after triaging her, we decided imaging would give us a better idea of what was going on. They took her back quickly, and Dr. Alan Ludwikowski came in with results. Aspiration pneumonia... a diagnosis that if left untreated could be detrimental. Dr. Ludwikowski was amazing. He would have received more than 5 stars. He was compassionate, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything. He gave me options and the risks involved, he told me all the warning signs to look out for and what they meant. Overall the staff were very kind and supportive. But Dr McGinely was dismissive and made me feel like a nuisance. He didn't seem inquisitive or curious enough to put all her symptoms together for a diagnosis. He just kept saying "I'm not sure how it all fits together". I'm thankful for the techs/nurses and Dr Ludwikowski... but I would highly advise against seeing Dr mcginely. read more

Wednesday 5/4 my Piper had boas surgery, she was spayed and a liver biopsy. Dr Kennedy said he could do no problem. He called at 1152 told me surgery was done, Piper didn't wake up well on her own and was put on high flow oxygen as she wasn't breathing well on her own. He said they would monitor her for now and reevaluate. I called every two hours for a check in. She was on high flow oxygen until that night and the was stepped down to regular oxygen. 748am Thursday Dr Kennedy called said they were able to step her down to regular oxygen and they were going to work to get her off it but she could come home she was just a little feisty (she was nipping at them). I said I would be there at 3 he said ok. We arrived, per discharge orders nothing around neck for 2 weeks, soft food in the size of meatballs no strenuous exercise, jumping, etc. she said meds were to be given at 4pm. By this time it was about 330 my other half said we lived two hours away and that incompetent tech said she will be ok until we got home. we were sent to check out where in over paid what they told me the cost was. 6,000-7200. We paid 7640 and change: when I asked why the receptionist called back to a woman who said she wasn't by her computer that it was probably because the high flow oxygen That she would call me. As this was all going down the tech brought my Piper out with a cone and a lead wrapped around her neck And a huge blanket wrapped around her.My finance asked why the cone she said so she doesn't lick her incisions, fun fact she is a frenchie they can't lick themselves. She said she needed to get the lead, it was wrapped so tight around her neck and in the blanket that we had to peel it off. I finished checking out, Piper wasn't herself but we figured it waa from surgery. I ripped the cone off immediately and we got in the car. We got home after 6! I have Piper the prescribed dosage of meds and she started having this panting attack. When I talked to her she acted as if she was able to turn it on and off but it would stop so I gave her some more trazadone as the tech who I then called and dr Kennedy also confirmed was ok. At this point Piper wouldn't take the meds regularly so we had to crush them and put with water and use a syring. Again the tech that I called and I called a lot said that was perfectly fine. I asked about the panting attack and she said to make sure we give her meds to her on time. (completely opposite what the discharge person said, again incompetent) She calmed after 15/20 min. Later that night at 3am I got woke up Piper was doing it again. i Took her out and put a fan on her to cool her down as she panting and it took me about 15min to calm her that time. At 6 was her next round of meds in which she didn't want to take but I gave them slowly crushed in water. She was relaxed, I had my cameras on her all day in my house. I called Medvet at 8am told the person who answered who I was and what was going on and that I was told if there was a problem to call. She rudely told me they weren't talking to me they are only doing intakes to call back and hung up. Around 10 another person called to check on Piper. I then relayed everything we went through over night, I asked how much water Piper needed to drink so she didn't dehydrate and how I was suppose to give her prednisone bc she won't eat. She said she would call em back after she talked to dr. She called back 15min later said dr kennedy said everything i was doing wa weight, not to worry about the water intake as the prednisone would make her thirsty and hungry to jusy crush it up with the rest of her pills like i had been. He also said that these panting attacks were normal as long as she calms we were ok. Piper was ok until 2pm med time. She once again went into another panting attack, she was easily calmed. My fiancé cleaned up the water bowl and syringe and came back in the room Piper was resting or so he thought. Piper raised her head looked at him and that quick died. Through this Piper wasnt able to walk out to the lobby which is why the lead was on her to begin with at discharge and she put the cone around her neck even though the dr said nothing around the neck bc she was nipping. Piper couldn't walk bc she wasn't stable enough to walk, she was struggling to the moment she die! Medvet needs shut down, after reading about other people they gave wrong dosages for meds that could have killed soemone else's animal or they screwed up with others and they also killed their animal. They don't care about your pet, they want you money and only your money. This grief is like no Other and lucky for these people I wrote down everything everytime I called, every hit of water, med, everything . You incompetent techs have no right to give medical advise over the phone or even be there! When I called to tell them Piper died dr Kennedy got on the phone of course said nothing but i went back through his discharge instructions he agreed with everything I said. read more

My first experience with MedVet was Monday, June 16 as my small dog had Syncopal Episodes three days in a row. They were quick to get her in and diagnosed congestive heart failure. She is on Furosemide to pull fluid out of the lungs and Pimobendan to increase heart function. I was disappointed in the lack of explanation of diet or side affects of the medications which should have been discussed at discharge. I had many questions but felt the discharge person was rushed. My dog has not had a bowel movement since Monday. I called MedVet and was asked to wait one more day yesterday. So tonight, Wednesday evening I called back explaining the situation and was told by Crissy, "you're welcome to bring her in to be assessed." Seriously? And would that be another $2 grand through the Emergency Room? In the meantime, at 10:30pm tonight, I called VEG Easton and spoke to Doctor Jordan and gave him my dog's patient history. He was able to answer dietary questions and indicated it was okay to give her pumpkin or sweet potato to help with bowel movement. Unfortunately, VEG Easton doesn't have a cardiologist on staff. Thank you VEG Easton for giving me piece of mind and being professional, understanding and empathetic. read more

As a critical care nurse, I understand the complexity of health issues--whether in humans or pets. I also know that subtle changes in behavior, often noticed by family members or owners, can precede hemodynamic changes. These observations should never be dismissed. On Thursday, my husband brought our 14-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer, Heinz, to your facility for evaluation of a rapidly enlarging growth under his right front leg. Because the ER was busy and he was still ambulatory, he was directed to urgent care. Over the phone, I provided a detailed medical history, voiced my concerns, and requested X-rays and labs. Dr. Montgomery performed an ultrasound, noted fluid pockets consistent with blood, and aspirated a sample for pathology. She mentioned mast cell cancer or hemangiosarcoma--both aggressive and serious conditions. Despite this, Heinz was discharged after sedation and Benadryl, with an appointment scheduled six days later with internal medicine. That night, he did not sleep, failed to recover from sedation, and the mass continued to enlarge. I called again, and he was promptly seen. By the time we arrived at MedVet, Heinz was no longer walking, and his condition was deemed emergent. Dr. Sandridge was thorough and transparent, explaining that this presentation was consistent with hemangiosarcoma. After further evaluation and observing his rapid deterioration, we made the heartbreaking decision to euthanize him. My concern, as both a medical professional and a grieving pet owner, is this: if hemangiosarcoma was suspected, why was Heinz not admitted for observation and stabilization the first night? Earlier intervention might have allowed us to explore surgical options or other pathways. Instead, I was left to advocate for care that should have been initiated immediately. I am deeply troubled by the lack of recognition of serious signs and the dismissive response to an owner's concerns. If this were a human patient, such oversight would raise malpractice questions. I hope this feedback is taken seriously so that future patients--human or animal--receive the timely, attentive care they deserve. read more

Read the reviews and check out the cases against them in Franklin County on case information online. Then decide if it's worth the risk. My dog was losing strength in his hind legs so we thought an MRI would be helpful. Not only was it not helpful, he came out of it in worse condition. There were associated charges, office visit with neurology for example, that added to the thousands of dollars spent. And Dr. Dixon and staff didn't know the cause. So we tried different meds that seemed like hail Mary's. Expensive too, especially Keppra. Desperation and despair set in as we were grasping for anything to help our pup. When we reached out for help the last time, we were told that there wasn't anything they could do, but we could try taking him somewhere to treat his secondary issues, like diarrhea. Also, they said once his disease became serious enough to warrant euthanasia or he passed away from another condition, an autopsy could be performed to try to get a definitive answer. And that was the last time I dealt with Medvet in Worthington. read more

: If I could give negative stars, I would. Similar to other people's experiences, my dog left this place in worse condition. I paid thousands of dollars on a deposit for my dog's overnight stay and procedures, then was notified the next day that I was "misquoted" and forced to pay thousands more before they even began helping my dog. After delivering the results of the MRI & spinal tap in a text message, the doctors offered no real solution after telling me the scans were clear, saying it must be idiopathic. I hope nobody has this kind of experience when dealing with a sick or injured pet. read more

Every single person that works here is amazing! My dog had a very big double surgery on her leg. They followed up and I had concerns multiple times after that and called them. They always put me on the phone with someone on the surgical staff. I can't say enough about the care they gave us and our pitty!. BTW...they love every single animal that comes through those doors. And a big surprise....my Pitbull loves them. And she doesn't love anyone but me! Are they expensive? Yes, but worth it! It's the price you pay for specialized surgery care and emergency services. If I could take away all the stars I would. They did an ANOTHER ultrasound 2K even though it was pretty clear that she had a tumor from the initial ultrasound by her vet. Our 2.5 year old puppy had surgery and I told the tech she was very timid and afraid. The pup in fear snapped at the tech bringing her to surgery and I got a call from a resident who said we will report this to Franklin and if she dies on the table we will need to cut off her head for research~!!!!! I nearly drove off the road. Then after the surgery despite several phone calls to follow up on biopsy no response, Tghen 8 weeks later over 10 days she developed a large lump in her belly and she was lethargic and hiding and not eating. They said it was a hernia. They wanted to do another ultrasound but I declined due to expense. In the end they performed the surgery and the cancer had taken over her body and we had to put her to sleep. They now want another 3K! Stay away I much rather OSU read more

Our senior kitty had been having breathing problems we were treating with recommendations from our vet. Late at night, she was suddenly in distress. MedVet was able to immediately help us although they already had a number of other pets they were treating. The staff was very thorough and kind and took extremely good care of our kitty. Ultimately, we had to euthanize our kitty that evening, but we were impressed with the level of care and speed with which they were able to assist us. Absolutely amazing service, front desk was so soft spoken and kind/gentle when my big baby boy suddenly passed. I chose to cremate him and they got his body home immediately with a clay paw print, the wooden box also had his name engraved on it. Would absolutely recommend!!! read more

Had to bring my cat in after my veterinary provider recommended it about a month or so ago due to abnormal labs with some incontinence. While I really did not want to have to have an emergency visit, we went in on a Sunday morning and they got us right in (which I know isn't always the case). Everyone was very kind. I did feel a little guilt tripped when I opted out of the some of the recommendations from the ER provider due to financial difficulty. I wish that it didn't come down to money to save my pet but on the other hand I completely understand the difficulty of high cost. The initial estimate was nauseating for a couple day stay with some radiology testing and specialty evaluation. I told the tech (while I was absolutely sobbing because I thought my fur baby wasn't going to make it) that we could not afford the estimate (since have or the estimate is due when you leave that day). The tech was able to talk to the doc and able to make a plan a bit more affordable. My cat ended up staying a few days and the doctors called me every day with updates and thoughts on the next step. I really appreciated that. I wish I could remember names to give specific call outs but overall everyone was very good and I appreciate the assistance caring for my baby girl cat. I hope I never have to return though (meaning my fur babies don't get sick again). read more

I can't tell you how badly I wish I could give them zero stars. I went in with my father to take his dog into the vet after we were recommended to go there after having been to our personal veterinarian our dog had a mass on her side that balloon up overnight was drinking profusely and acting lethargic and also had bruising brought her in even with our vet calling. She still waited well over an hour and a half to be seen by a vet and my father was well overcharged by at least $400 one of our medication's that was put onto the bill was a $250 medication that once they gave us the prescription print off to try to cut the bill down after we complained over the fact that we were being overcharged, took it to Kroger's pharmacy where they charged us $25 for the same medication. When I called yesterday to try to get the issue resolved with how upset we were over the situation we were given runaround I dealt with a woman a first name Olivia, who to be honest, seems like she was very stressed out and had very little support from her company, but overall, I could tell she was at least trying to do her job and cared however, when we were transferred to Julie, as soon as I was on the phone with her, I could tell she was incredibly abrasive and defensive. It's appalling that somebody in her position has such a disgusting attitude towards the public. I originally tried to reach out to the social worker who's supposed to be amazing named Jess however I won't be able to hear from her until Monday. Almost a week later we will absolutely be going elsewhere oh, and by the way at one point, Julie tried to blame us for the fact that "you should be her advocate if you felt she was waiting too long". On Tuesday, I had one of the worst days of my life. The day started with taking our beloved 9 year old Goldendoodle to our local vet because she seemed a little off - something wasn't quite right. The day ended with my daughter and I sitting on the floor in a MedVet room, cradling our lovely Autumn as she was compassionately euthanized for an inoperable, basically untreatable type of cancer. We are shattered. Dr Maderia at MedVet was amazing. So compassionate, caring, professional, knowledgeable and full of empathy. He helped us understand Autumn's condition, took time with us and helped lay out the kindest course for her. Do we wish our day had a better outcome? Of course. But if this had to happen, I'm glad both Autumn and we were in such capable, caring hands. Thank you to Dr Maderia and the wonderful lady vet tech who helped us after Autumn passed. Words of advice to anyone considering taking your pet to Medvet in Worthington...... Do NOT allow discussions regarding test results to occur over a telephone call with the vet. Only discuss findings of test results face-to-face with the vet AND with a hardcopy of the results of actual test in hand. I strongly recommend that you record the conversation too. The vet never disclosed the full results of my pets test and even claimed that a prior test completed at Medvet was inaccurate and no longer showed findings of cancer. I was led to believe it was nothing more than back issues, which resulted in more diagnostic testing being recommended, which I agreed to. It wasnt until I read the results of the test (I requested that Medvet email to me) that I found out there was a new cancer finding noted on the report. It's obvious their sole focus is money - adding on more "secondary" testing and not disclosing the primary issue. This was intentional and a money grab! This location has several customer complaints regarding the same issue, as well as negative reviews from former employees (Indeed and Glassdoor). Common complaints of unnecessary diagnostic testing, commission-based testing, pets being left in the back for hours upon end, long wait times, inadequate staffing, upper management issues, and excessive turnover rates. This place of business has a habit of providing quick cookie cutter responses to complaints on BBB, Yelp. They will respond asking you to reach out to them to discuss further. My attempts at trying to discuss my concerns prior to this online review resulted in no one ever calling me back after several daily attempts! A facade! Then, an employee who you have never had any communication with will eventually respond to your online complaints, while this same individual fabricates and gets the actual conversations mixed up (purposely?) in order to make the business look better. I will be sharing my experience with friends, family, in facebook groups, total strangers. read more

My dachshund Billie had an injury to her back. They suspected a herniated disk for she was paralyzed and informed me she would most likely need immediate surgery. They were apparently so busy at Worthington that they couldn't see my girl UNTIL THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY. I had to pay $1400 for an overnight stay at Diley Medvet which is absolutely insane because of Worthingtons availability I had to put off life saving surgery and had to fork out $1400. Then I am updated that before Worthington would even consider seeing her, they need another $7,000. I had scrambled and could come up with $6,000 of the $7,000 until literally I got paid within the next TWO DAYS. They denied seeing her unless I forked over ANOTHER $7,000 ONTOP OF THE $1,400 I ALREADY FORKED OUT. I was furious angry hurt all the above at the fact before they had even LOOKED at her they required 7 THOUSAND DOLLARS. Absolutely disgusting at their ability to NOT work with you AT ALL. I was denied by care credit. I had to borrow money from family and friends in order to get her seen there. After mri they had confirmed our fears that she had a herniated disk and it could potentially paralyze her further from the neck down so they prepared me for the worst (euthanasia) if they had gotten in there and found the damage to be too far gone. (NOTE-Had they have seen us right away, I could have saved $1400 and they could've prevented more damage from progressing but that's besides the point) She made it through surgery, and miraculously the damage was fixable and they pretty much saved her life. It's now been two weeks and I've now forked over another $600 for rehab sessions that were recommended twice a week for 5 weeks for her recovery. She has started wagging her tail again, has way better bladder control, and is starting to use her legs again. The surgeons were absolutely amazing, kept me informed, and saved her life. I'm very happy and pleased with them. The rehab team has also been wonderful in her progress towards getting better. Pros overall, im very thankful to have Billie alive and well thank you to Medvet. Cons overall, I was NOT impressed with being told she needed life saving surgery but they put her off until the next day. I was NOT impressed to have to fork out money at diley because of THEIR availability at Worthington. I was NOT impressed at the insurmountable cost they needed UPFRONT before they would even CONSIDER LOOKING at her. That to me is disgusting. After offering every penny I had of $6,000 and them denying me was also disgusting. For I got paid in TWO DAMN DAYS. Their money hungry attitude was absolutely disgusting and had me taken aback and it also made it very difficult for me to move forward with putting her in their care and to trust them because it definitely seemed they only care about draining every penny from you. All of my savings are gone, I also now owe thousands to a family member, I also still have to pay another $600 for her next 5 rehab appointments after the $600 I already paid for the first 5 rehab appointments, but I am very thankful to the surgeons for saving her life and doing such a fantastic job during her surgery. read more

When I went to bed last night, little did I know I would end of here by 6 AM this morning. Thank goodness they are available! So it was a little after 5 AM when my little Marvin woke me up with his wheezy, choking noise. Marvin is about 6 months old and is the light in our house. He entertains us and keeps our other older cats young at heart. Occassionally annoying as he gets into EVERYTHING - we love him dearly. AND I've already dropped a lot of $$ adopting him, getting him current on his shots and getting him declawed. I thought we were past the expensive phase of pet ownership for him. NOT SO. BUT, when he was suffering horribly this morning, drooling and heaving, it brought me to tears. We have worked exclusively with the Animal Medical Center in Gahanna where we adopted him from - and they have great hours - but even they didn't open until 7 AM. And I couldn't watch him struggle to breathe for that long. I ran down and got my phone and Googled the closest 24/7 animal hospital. This Medvet was mostly highway driving and I knew traffic would not be an issue that early. I called and they answered right away. They offered to put me through to a tech, but I asked if I could just bring Marvin in - they said absolutely. Just what I wanted to hear. As soon as I walked in the door, they were ready to have me fill out paperwork. Before I finished page 1, they have someone take Marvin back and begin to care for him. Immediately I felt better. I had to complete a couple other forms, but shortly after that, they took me back to a private room to get more info and talk to a tech. It was that much longer that the doc spoke to me and put me at ease. It was likely something Marvin ate and he probably would be OK. She went through some different things and gave me the option of doing xrays. Because I didn't want to make multiple trips - I authorized them to be done. Better to know right away if there was something horribly wrong with him. This took a bit longer - but I had my phone to play with. The doctor came back and showed me the xrays which looked mostly promising. She suggested some additional care (water, anti-nausea meds, etc.) and I said yes please. Soon enough I was at the front desk, paying the pretty big bill but certainly happy that things were looking up. They brought Marvin out in his carrier with written instructions they had reviewed with me and a CD with his xrays. 12 hours later, Marvin is ALMOST back to his weird normal self. He slept for several hours (or tried to - his wheezy and drool would choke him) - and then all of sudden, he started to climb all over me and my laptop and got annoying - much more like himself. He's taken some food, engaged with the other cats and is now wandering around the house. He's not attacking the other cats yet - but I think we both need a good night sleep before we're fully back to normal! I so appreciate the level of care, the wonderful staff, the convenient location and excellent service. It made a bad situation so much more tolerable! read more

MedVet Columbus - Marvin, when he's feeling ornery - Veterinarians Near Me - Worthington, Ohio

$1000 well worth it. I was referred from my local Vet to Columbus for an enlarged liver of my 14 year old cat. Cat needed an ultrasound to diagnosis what was going on. Med Vet could see him quickly. After Receiving the records from local vet, I was told it would be an ultrasound and to expect a bill around $1000-1500 payable that day. I met with Dr. Sarah Holm who reviewed history, med records, listened patiently and examined my cat. He would need sedation for the ultrasound. I could check back/ return in 5 hours. Afterwards, Dr. Holm explained the findings, gave various treatment options and respected my decision. it was well worth the $1000 as my vet and I gained knowledge of his condition. Consult $246, patient care $81, ultrasound $544, sedation & meds $109. read more

The cardiology department gets 5/5 stars. They are always a o helpful, friendly and kind. I really feel like they listen to me and my concerns about my dog. They love and treat my dog as if he was their own. The neurology department gets 2/5 stars. They blow off my concerns about my dog without reevaluating him. They don't follow through with the care they say they are going to provide. They seem next to impossible to get in contact with. read more

8/12/2025 I have to start off by saying if your pet is ill please wait til day shift , if possible, before you bring your pet here in the evening . We were treated very rudely, after driving an hour and a half to get here , by tech (Lauren). Our beloved Izzy was bleeding rectally and we were told by her we couldn't even get Izzy out of the car to use the restroom until she was tested for parvo first. I would maybe understand that at our local vet , but this is an urgent care?? This woman wanted to argue with my wife about how she wouldn't allow it even if she were to go in our car??? she said we had to wait in the car until they was ready to take of her? During the time I was waiting in the car I saw several dogs relieve themselves on the property before coming , without the poop police ( Lauren ) could catch them. Her repore was very awful. This was awful all the way around , tears on the way to the clinic , about the unknown.. was just wondering if she tested positive what would've happened?? Maybe left in the car and told it wasn't her problem?? This lady is in the wrong field or shouldn't be chosen to greet people when they arrive. Thank you read more

I'm going to be blunt. MedVet is divisive. I think a lot of it comes down to money. For others, it comes down to the coldness of systemic, precision medicine. I get it. I do. I think the emergency vet, and other forms of advanced veterinary medicine, can be an emotionally charged and operationally complicated field to address in a moderate, objective fashion. Particularly when it can be a stressful experience where minutes can stretch into hours depending upon situation and circumstance. Especially across an electronic public forum. We all love our pets. I was raised by cats, but I currently own dogs, myself. I think you've probably seen my review of my normal vet where there's a photo of my dog included. I think it's almost disingenuous to suggest any of us care any more, or any less, than anyone else. So when it comes to reviewing care, I want to tread lightly. But I want to be clear too based upon my own experience. So here goes. I came home last Friday night to my floor covered in vomit, bile, and blood. One of my dogs was suffering from acute pancreatitis. It was bad. He was going to die without care. We took him to the Med-Vet in Worthington becasue that is the location my regular vet's phone dialed to when I pressed "2" for emergency, so to speak. They got him in quickly, tested him quickly, and diagnosed him quickly. They look, act, and feel like a hospital for humans, and it shows. He's 13 years old. I harbor no illusions, but they gave me a frank assessment about the nature of the disorder and that he was worth saving if we could accommodate the cost. I charged it and said he's worth it under those parameters. I can save his life. Or, more aptly put, THEY had a chance to save his life. He's got more years on him. Let's see how those years unfold. At the very least, I'm going to try. (As an aside - I appreciate the structured payment solutions they offer through Care Credit, but speaking as someone who works in banking, I would highly suggest you use your credit card, or speak with your financial institution. The interest rate will be gentler on you.) He was admitted as an in-patient under the auspices of the Internal Medicine department. He was put on fluids and cared for across the span of about 2-3 days. He was given respect and care. I firmly believe he would have died without them. They called us every night *and* every morning with his progress. We were never left wondering about his condition. They gave us updates on cost and were matter-of-fact about what was required to keep the tab paid without being disrespectful. (Oh, and in case you couldn't tell, they don't close. They *NEVER* close. It's 24/7. Like a real hospital.) They were consummate professionals. Is it worth the cost I paid? You're right in assuming what I paid was worth at least a month's pay or so. So, that's up to you. But I'm not going to sit here and pretend that these kind of institutions need to be maligned becasue we cannot accommodate their accordant expenses. That's a conversation we need to have institutionally, as a society, and also with ourselves when thinking of insurance for animals - which do exist. I also think that there's a lot of debate, and anger, and grief, surrounding decisions that are exacerbated by that accordant cost. Or, alternatively, the reality of a diagnosis or prognosis that is not what we want to hear. I understand that too. These are difficult choices. These are HARD decisions. Moreover, I know I was lucky that what transpired was within the scope of reason, AND I had the capacity (if debt is capacity) to indulge my love for an old dog by giving him one more shot at a few more years with me. So, all I can say is that I believe this place is worth it's price. They know what they're doing in executing the advanced care of the creatures that reside along aside us. You can disagree, and I'm sure experiences can differ. But this is MY experience, and I offer it to you for consideration if you are facing an unthinkable situation. In the interim, let me render to you my testimonial, my truth: I'm on my way to pick my dog up, and take him home. There's your review. read more

Almost a month ago our cat had a sudden complete urinary blockage. He was what appeared to be fine when we had gone to sleep however, I awoke to him trying to relieve himself anywhere and everywhere. We reached out to our regular vet, one that makes house calls as Henry is quintessentially a scaredy cat. Much as we had expected they told us to get our cat to MedVet or a brick and mortar vet quickly. We had experienced a less sudden blockage with our previous cat so we knew the importance of getting him to the vet ASAP. Henry had a complete blockage which meant that he had to be put under so that a procedure could be performed. After the procedure he needed at least two nights at MedVet which would be dependent on how he recovered from the removal of the blockage. The doctors were wonderful at communicating what was going on with Henry regarding response to treatment, his bathroom usage, temperament and more. Even if we missed their call and called back it was always just a short wait to speak with the care team or Dr who called. Several times they even went to go check on him as we were on the phone. The level of service received, as we were instructed that we could call at an hour and get an update, was impeccable. Henry was discharged after a two nights in a very groggy state with several medications. We were given an estimate for the cost of treatment up front. The overnight stay portion was the largest cost of Henry's treatment. We put a deposit down on the treatment, based on the estimate. However, the actual cost of treatment was less than the deposit we were reimbursed the overpayment. I am ever grateful that we are so conveniently located in relation to MedVet. The level of care we've consistently received at MedVet is what I would hope to experience from medical staff who are serving humans. MedVet is a place that I would recommend without hesitation to others who need urgent care for their fur kids. read more

Through no fault of theirs, my outcome was not the desired one. But they were kind, respectful and professional. I was shocked by how much the vet was part of the process from beginning to end. Dr. Jefferson was very helpful, thorough, and compassionate during one of the most difficult moments of being a pet caretaker. I cannot imagine that's an easy role. But very appreciated. I will always miss my Doug. I would recommend this facility during any challenging health issues your pet is facing. read more

I took my cat there who spent 3 nights and cost 8,500. He had an ulcer and kidney issues. I could see he was worse after the time there and I took him home. I called them after I got him home several times, left messages and even sent photos and no response from them. He died two days later. Horrible place. Ever time I visited him there they would always come out with increasing the cost and I paid them. All they want is your money. I will never take another cat there. read more

I can only speak of the cardiologist, Dr. Aona, as MetVet is not my regular vet. I took my dog to MedVet for the annual physical for therapy/service dogs and he caught something small in my dog's heart. I have had several vets (as I have moved a couple of times) but he was the only one that caught the slight (and very mild) murmur. He examined my dog and explained everything to me in a very simple, easy to understand way. He took his time and stayed with me to make sure all of my questions were answered. He assured me and my dog would totally be fine and he told me to give him a call any time I have any questions. He was very compassionate, knowledgeable, kind and I can not thank him enough! The cardiology department is on the second floor of the building. It is clean, quiet, has free WiFi and plenty of plugs for your devices! They also have Keurig coffee/tea maker. read more
