I have hesitated to review this place for months but I keep getting reminders to do so - so... Extremely disappointing and stressful experience during an emergency We brought my son's cat to MedVet in the middle of the night during an emergency, after speaking with her regular vet and being told she urgently needed IV fluids. We arrived expecting emergency care. We were there for over two hours, and during that time, no treatment was provided--even though they agreed she needed care. Instead, the focus felt overwhelmingly centered on cost. The pattern was repetitive: an assessment, followed by "here's what we would like to do, but here's the cost," over and over. We had already confirmed we would pay and had signed the paperwork, yet the constant cost discussions delayed care to the point that I finally asked them to stop. This process was incredibly stressful, especially for my son, who was simply desperate to get his cat the treatment she needed. Ultimately, they decided to give her fluids and keep her overnight so another vet could treat her in the morning. Tragically, she passed away. I understand that veterinary care is expensive and that transparency matters--but in an emergency setting, urgency and compassion should come first. Based on our experience, I would only use MetVet as an absolute last resort. MetVet saved our dog's life! After a harrowing week of vomiting, not eating, jaundice, and blood tests at our regular vet, we were informed that our 10 year-old pitbull Sonya was in acute liver failure. We immediately rushed her to MedVet for additional testing and treatment. We didn't know what she had potentially gotten into/eaten and were terrified. The team at MedVet was compassionate, assuring, and professional. They kept her overnight for an ultrasound/fluids and concluded that she had a Gallbladder Mucocele - a condition that is often life-threatening. We scheduled emergency Gallbladder removal surgery right away. The team was wonderful, and let us have daily, private visits with her before and after her surgery, which was a massive comfort. We could even call anytime (day or night) to check on her and the staff was very accommodating. She ended up being in the hospital for 5 days, which was expensive (around 12k in total), but completely worth it since our dogs are our babies. The day we went to pick her up, she had all kinds of staff members wishing her well and saying goodbye to her - it was very apparent how well cared for and loved she was during her stay! We could not be more grateful for the veterinarians, surgical staff, vet techs, vet assistants, and front desk staff that helped save our baby girl's life. read more

We have been to MedVet numerous times (mostly for fosters) and they have been great (yes, long wait times, but they take animals in order of importance and are emergency-based, which means they are VERY busy). Our last experience with MedVet was our foster, Wrigley. He had trouble from the start and eventually had to leave this world in the most humane, peaceful manner. After that, we brought in our 15 year old dog who was having issues standing and crying all night (in spite of his pain meds). Our vet wasn't available (we love them as well) so we brought him to the best place we know. I cannot say enough on how nice and understanding everyone is...one of the initial ladies had tears in her eyes when I broke down after deciding to end our boy's suffering. They were amazing from start to finish. They set us up in a private room and we met with their personnel who went over the procedure with us. They had nice girlsl who took him (he went willingly which was a sign of trust) to the back and gave him love and treats (their love for animals is apparent). The moment arrived when we had to say goodbye to our boy of 15 years. The vet was amazing and the staff was incredible. While I don't wish a death on anyone, I realize it happens. This is one of the best places to go to for end-of-life issues if your vet is unavailable. It is CLEAR the people here (front desk, assistant and vets) care about these animals. read more

I don't understand the pricing. Also you do not need to keep my pet inpatient to do an antibiotic IV.. IV antibiotics are not continuously ran 24/7. If it takes 2-4 hours, then offer that. Like offer different options because your pricing is marked up so high and not everyone has a credit card or access to funding like this but they still love their animal and want them to live and it seems like you guys don't really care. It's bizarre to me. One dose of iv then home on orals or one iv dose then come back tomorrow for another. Options man.. you guys need a social worker in there to discuss options of care with customers to figure out what plan can we make that equals this pet living. read more

Unfortunately we had to take our dog here on a Sunday to let him go. Everyone was kind, compassionate and very helpful and they got things taken care of fast so our boy didn't have to suffer. It's never a great experience having to do this but MedVet made it as god as it could have been and we thank them greatly for that. read more

My six year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has developed a heart murmur, and Dr. Wright and her assistant were able to give a hopeful prognosis through heart medication and weight control. The Clinic was very clean and efficient -- the receptionists, assistants, and cardiology veterinarian doctor -- all were so kind, professional, and knowledgeable. I wish could put a warning and not a star. Don't take your pets here!! When you are faced with an emergency with your furbaby, you want to trust an emergency vet. After an outrageous bills, abusive care we brought our dog home to pass away. We had the WORST experience imaginable and our dear dog of 12.5 years passed after a fight to get him out of there. He was admitted to get iv antibiotics and fluids over the weekend. After leaving him for 3 hours, they could not give us consistent updates. They ran tests that were not discussed and told us he needed surgery (that didn't align with our vet recommendation). After a discussion to understand the surgery, they said he had less than a 30% chance of survival from the surgery. We requested they follow the plan at admission to give IV antibiotics and fluids. At that time they had already ran our bill up over $3,000 for testing. When we decided to hold off on the surgery to get him stabilized, the attitude quickly shifted. They asked if we were prioritizing cost over care. We called several times and could not get an update on our dog. We were so distraught about what to do and the inconsistencies we decided to go pick him up. When we got there it was a very heated battle to see my dog. They continued to lie about his care. It was clear they had not even given his medication or cared for him. When they finally brought him to me he was so bad he couldn't even walk. He had bruises on his chest and refused to eat. He look like he was almost dead. I couldn't stop crying. I felt horrible for taking him there and trusting him. The day we took him in he was walking, eating and still playing with our family. He never walked again after being at this place. They would not let me leave until I settled the bill. They refused to give me the detailed bill or explain why my bill was over $5,000. They sent me home with medication but found out when I got home the bottles contained only 1 pill each. We called our vet in the morning when they opened. They gave him pain medicine and were so upset this happened. The notes they sent our vet did not align with what they told us or were asked to do. Not even they expected this to happen. Our dog passed away shortly after this with our family including our children. As I share our experience with others, we continue to hear others had a similar experience. So many family pets killed by this place. There was no need for this to be a traumatic experience. This place is the worst. They take advantage of families that love their pets. Abusive, poor care, greedy, dishonest and unprofessional. We are still heart broken over all this. read more

DO NOT COME HERE. Due to the situation I had the state is investigating the incident. The vet and techs were nice but the older blonde woman at the front desk called me a racial slur. Im sure you come to this review due to the video of her calling me a cotton picking moon cricket on TikTok the video was reported and taken down after 800k views. The supervisor is no help so now this has been escalated to a legal standpoint. I hope this woman gets the repercussions and psychological help that are needed. I took my cat to Medvet Dayton before going to the Cincinnati Medvet. And the difference is night and day. The facility is cleaner, the staff is kinder and they are just more capable. Dr. Mueller took time to update me and to really explain everything without it feeling rushed. I have two CKCS dogs that have been patients at MedVet Cincinnati for years, and for various things. The team here has mostly been compassionate, friendly, and as timely as they can be. Being a long time customer of the cardiology department, I have to give a shout out to Maggie Schuckman, DVM. She has been my dog's cardiologist and she is fantastic. She truly cares and has been compassionate through the painful progression of heart disease in both of my dogs (at the same time). My "boys" would be long gone if it wasn't for her expertise. I wouldn't want anyone else on my side going through this. Her assistants are phenomenalI as well. They work to do what's best for my dogs while being aware of the $$ and they advise with compassion. I highly recommend MedVet Cincinnati, and if you're looking for a cardiologist, Maggie and team are sweet and amazing and have given me more time with my boys. I'm forever grateful. read more

Our feline, Marley, underwent extensive (and expensive!) tests with Dr. Lane for suspected abdominal lymphoma and for a growth of what turned out to be thyroid adenoma (benign thyroid tissue) on her neck. Marley had been to MedVet five months earlier for a follow up to a dental cleaning and an extraction of one tooth a few weeks earlier. Leading up to the dental appointment she had a complete blood and physical exam which were normal and her hyperthyroidism was under control. Marley healed well from her cleaning and surgery, her weight was good, and she was reported to be in good physical health. So when she started losing weight five months later it was a shock to learn that she had lymphoma and the adenoma. Our phone consultation with Dr. Lane after the tests lasted barely 30 seconds. Dr. Lane didn't recommend any treatment or help for Marley. We had hoped that the adenoma could be removed to help mitigate the effects of the hyperthyroidism and weight loss, but Dr. Lane said that surgery would be "too much for Marley" even though the recommendation in the pathology report was for thyroidectomy. Furthermore, Marley's pathology report was never sent to her primary care providers even though we had specifically requested this be done, so they had no clue about the test results. At the end of the brief call we were invited by Dr. Lane to let her know if we had any questions. Well, I did have a question: what could we do for Marley? After a few moments of dead air, she said that "you could give her steroids". I had studied human health for twenty-five years and instinctively knew that there was indeed more that we could do. I began researching and reaching out to providers through tele-medicine (because Marley's primary care vets didn't help her either). He took the time to explain everything and answered my many questions. I have had both my dogs in need of orthopedic surgery - Dr Maritato performed both of them. I am disgusted I am having to write this review but I am speaking out so others in my situation know to go anywhere but MedVet! I have an English Bulldog she turned 4 in September. Last Wednesday I received a call at work from my boyfriend who came home to Maisie Ann laying in the corner with labored breathing, while vomit, poop and pee was all over the house. I immediately left work and rushed Maisie Ann to MedVet. When we arrived around 6:40pm they took Maisie Ann back with triage after 25-30 minutes someone finally came out to inform us her heart rate was high and she was struggling to breathe. They placed Maisie on Oxygen and kept her in the back while she was monitored. We waited hours before someone came out to give us a simple update. Eventually we were placed into a room to sit for more hours no answers no Maisie. Someone came in to ask about X-Rays and testing. We had agreed, again after more hours of waiting Dr. Neff came in to inform us her chest x rays looked great, while she was back there she did an ultrasound of Maisie's abdomen and seen her right kidney looked inflamed and upset and she felt it was a kidney infection. She gave us 2 options one being taking Maisie home on antibiotics and bringing her in the following day to see the Urologist for a full scan of the kidney or to hospitalize her for $2,500 a night. We took Maisie home around 2am to monitor her and start antibiotics. That was $1,200. Maisie started to decline that morning so I called her primary vet, we went in and they recommended we go back to obtain that full kidney scan. We immediately took Maisie Ann back to MedVet. Again after hours of waiting Dr. Spangler came in to inform us the pricing of this scan $800-$1,000 and that he would do his best to get her in that day. He came back to inform us Maisie Ann would be scanned around 5pm and we could leave and he would call when she was finished. Dr. Spangler called me around 3:30pm to let me know they had finished the scan and there was some serious news. He told me Maisie Ann had an obstruction in her right kidney that was from a lodged stone as well as bilateral kidney infections. He then informed me emergency surgery was the next step. I was given a price of $7,900-$9,000 for this procedure. I asked questions regarding full recovery, what life would look like after surgery and what all the price he gave me included. I was told it includes all pre-op, surgery, post-op, medications and hospital stay. We agreed to the procedure and put down the money which when we came in we were then told again it was a "little bit more" and it was now $8,800-$10,300. Dr. Schwartz came in to discuss the procedure with us and informed us that Maisie Ann would be hospitalized until Sunday at minimum but most likely Monday, but that she was not working that weekend and she would transfer Maisie Ann to internal medicine. She called me after the procedure Thursday night to inform me what she had done and that she would be transferring her over to internal medicine. I visited Maisie Ann Friday morning and again Friday evening. When I visited Friday morning, I was then confronted regarding additional pricing that would then up the price to $10,500 and if she were to stay an additional night, there would be additional charges. Saturday morning I got a call at 9:30am that Maisie was doing amazing and was good to come home, being 2 days prior to when she was supposed to be released. We now had paid $11,685.00 at minimum. Maisie Ann came home and slowly started to decline refusing all medication's and all foods, started with labored breathing again and was lethargic. We called Sunday morning to ask internal medicine what we should be doing because Maisie Ann was not keeping up with her antibiotics and seems to be declining. They said try home cooking and continue doing our best if things did not improve by Monday to bring her back. Sunday night things become increasingly worse I took Maisie Ann back to MedVet around 9:30pm they informed me that she had effusion which is excess free floating fluid in her abdomen they tested the fluid and stated that they believed it was from the inflammation from the infections of the kidneys. I was then recommended to hospitalize her again for $2,500 a night although she was released early postop surgery. I asked for all other ways to make this happen and I was given the option of hospitalizing her or taking her to my family vet for IV anabiotic's. Then Sunday night I paid another $504.00 I have paid this place over $12,000 upfront for them to help my dog and they still are refusing simple IV antibiotics to help assist her without additional thousands of dollars. When they didn't do what they were supposed to. This place is 100% money driven and is actively sitting letting my dog die because they are more worried about money than helping. It's not one of my favorite places to take my pets, but it's good that it's available 24/7. I've taken 2 of my 3 dogs here and while the treatments are good, the staff's slowness in updating or responding to questions from the pet parents leaves a lot to be desired. I understand that they take true emergencies first (obvious wounds that need immediate care, pets not breathing or having trouble breathing, etc). But they could be MUCH better about communicating regularly with urgent patients. I've had 2 experiences with the same pet at 2 different times and it was like pulling teeth trying to get the staff (not the vets or techs) to call me back (not every half hour) after a few hours of observation (would have been the maximum I felt comfortable not hearing from them). So I will use them for emergencies, but I don't have any faith in them communicating with me in a time frame that makes me comfortable with them caring for my pets. read more

He has roundworm, I was pretty certain of that on my own, and yet I still waiting in the waiting room all damn night. They just checked his vitals. That's it. Never took him back to get further examined; never even bothered to give me an estimate of time I'd be waiting. The staff was competent in diagnosing a brain tumor, however they made me wait for over 2 hours (in the waiting room) without updating me. They kept us in the loop as to what treatment he needed and gave us a time frame. They were pretty spot on. Great communication, wonderful care. The only negative was the high price tag. We just moved to the area and had yet to find a regular vet for our 13 year old chihuahua, Chica. She became severely ill quite suddenly on a Thursday. We took her to MedVet on a recommendation from a local vet clinic. We were greeted by the friendly front desk staff and met immediately by emergency room staff who took her back for vitals and triage. As we waited I completed a history for the doctor and we were given information about what to expect every step of the way. We were quickly taken to a consultation room and the vet, Dr Gunther came in to talk to us about Chica and her symptoms. She kept us informed every step of the way on options, procedures she recommended (including cost estimate) and Chica's response to treatment. It was clear that we were partners in her treatment plan. When testing was done, she returned and gave us a detailed explanation of the results, answered our questions and provided options for care. We opted to take her home with new meds. We were given detailed written discharge instruction. Unfortunately Chica got worse overnight and we returned the next morning to have her euthanized. Again the sensitivity of everyone we encountered and the way they dealt with the most difficult decision and procedure a pet owner can have was amazing. The compassion and competence of the staff, especially Dr Gunther, is something I will never forget. Thank you. read more

Mixed experience but ultimately the last one wins. MedVet failed to show compassion and empathy to my pet and the exceptional circumstances surrounding the situation of presentation. While not the most urgent of cases, it certainly was one that required healthcare. Unfortunately 11pm in the evening was truly the only time I could reliably get him to a vet. I tried to explain the situation (and guarantee most people who would've heard this situation would've made an exception). I asked for my case to be discussed given the exceptional situation. The recipient of the situation clearly lies to me, saying she will talk to her supervisor. She takes my dog in and walks out five minutes later with no reference to the supervisor she previously discussed. Absolutely terrible. read more

traumatic & tragic, I had high hope this place has standards, but in my opinion & experience , money/profits trumps it all. it's really painful for me to write this, but I will in memory of my boy. I took him to the emergency because of excessive seizures that day and screaming. I called and before we entered the ICU door told me gonna be 500 dollars to examine him and ask me , if that's okay, I said yes. They kept him overnight & the day after for more observation as they able to stabilize him & stop the seizures . And were allowed to visit him the next day later and before that I got an early call from accounting dept. ??....telling me he is good and ready for surgery , they shaved his tummy, then proceeded to tell me that the total gonna be 11 000 something dollars including the surgery, I was kind of shocked. She told it cost over 1,117 for his overnight stays ???.....for a 7 pound dog ???....I told her No on surgery just medically treated. So when , we visited , waited for the vet almost an hour ???. she seem nice and she did few favors for me,i was at ease, I should not let my guard down and pay attention and questions the things she said. The vet said, she didn't recommend having surgery and he barely recognize us as he was heavily medicated. I gave him supplements to help with tumor besides the meds.I want to keep this short. When I took my baby back for the 3rd time, MY FATAL MISTAKE. She ( vet) rushed to have my boy PUT DOWN, after waiting for more than 30 minutes and she administered some drugs to was the pain, but in reality his pain has subsided already .She didn't CLARIFY to me, if I want my boy PUT DOWN. She RUSHED it as , if he gonna any minute from now. I REFUSE to SIGN, but I seen in my MOST VULNERABLE MOMENTS , my husband sign without asking or acknowledging or care about my feelings & existence , as I am weeping/crying . The vet mistook my saying " yes" , but's that to bring him to me not to put him down. If she really CARE and he is STABLE , just a little pain, should have told to take to my regular vet and have him put down there. My conclusion , because , she has lots of patients waiting, tending and probably short stafff just wanna RUSH. I REALLY WISH I WAS ON MY RIGHT MIND, AND PUT A STOP TO IT. My husband , I thought he really loves our dog, I deeply regret bringing him, now I realize his actions before . I felt like I was in a nightmare, like I don't even know or understand what was going on, until we got outside of the hospital, I came to my senses, but too late.I also realize, that all the all the pain happened was due to me over supplementing him ,had nothing to do with his tumor becoz he seizure has stopped, even then , he was not in excruciating pain. I should hv not STOP PRAYING. I I brought him to my VET, he would still be ALIVE TODAY. She don't know everything that was going on, besides she don't even have much time because she has so many patients and if we talked, I already forgot everything , tired, sleepless and waited for her like ETERNITY.I spent more that 4,083.00 plus another 562+++ on his cremation. I don't consider her a good vet, at all, NOT A GOOD COMMUNICATOR either.This will haunt me for the rest of my life. TRAGIC. I also don't need their sorry, profits comes first. read more

these guys saved my little dogs life! The doctors were very caring and their communication with me was top-notch. The only reason I give it a four is for the cost. I wish I could give 4 1/2 because the doctor tried really hard to work with us on options of what we could do to reduce the cost. In the end we did what was best for our little dog and paid upwards of $7000 for a five day stay. Took her on a Monday night and picked her up on Friday morning. our dog is part of our family and she is doing so much better now and we really appreciate the care that these guys gave. What a waste of time. Our Vet referred us to them on a Sunday at 11am and wife called ahead to the hospital. She described our dogs symptoms and they said to definitely bring him in. I arrived and checked in, waited 45mins in the waiting room only for a tech to come out, look at him, touch him with her stethoscope and say "I think he's fine, we are busy right now and if you wanna go on the wait list you can, might not see him until tomorrow though". IF YOU HAVE A BOSTON TERRIER CONSIDER GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE AND DO NOT LET THEM PUT LENSES IN DURING CATARACT SURGERY!!!! Please if you are coming here for cataract surgery for a Boston consider going elsewhere or getting other opinions. My Boston Terrier had cataract surgery here at the end of March and since then it has been a complete nightmare. He is now going to lose both of his eyes likely as a reaction to the lenses placed. We have been to 2 other ophthalmologist since going to Med Vet and both have said they do not place lenses during specifically Boston terrier cataracts surgery because of this known reaction. The ophthalmologist at med vet was obviously not up to date on this issue and placed them anyway. Now my dog has had to undergo another surgery because his pressure shot up to 100 after the initial cataract surgery, he is getting multiple drops many times a day, has gotten several ulcers, his right eye has an infection, and now he will be getting both of his eyes removed. no matter how sick or damaged your pet is, you want a compassionate space. You are brought into a communal waiting room with other apparently healthy pets, getting check ups. In my case I waited 7 hours for my dog to be seen after my vet sent me there with a dog with acute symptoms. The psychological impact of these well pets coming in, going back, leaving, while i was waiting for my emergent dog to get attention was horrible. Create separate spaces for emergent pets and their parents. Eventually after several hours some of us recognized each other by the tears in our eyes from across the rooms and communicated. I've been sitting here for over 4 hours even after my vet called ahead to have our cat admitted to the hospital for treatment. I completely understand that emergencies are prioritized. I've watched dozens of outwardly healthy animals come in after us and leave, tails wagging. After 3.5 hours, I was offered to leave our cat and go home. But without speaking to a vet tech or vet, I'm not confident they even know why we're here. In short, let your boss know you're out for the day and bring a book or your phone charger. read more

Where to start... we found ourselves needing immediate attn. for our 9 yr old labradoodle and found ourselves in the emergency vet here. The process of checking was smooth and the immediately took care of our baby. We had to leave him overnight for fluids and assessment as he was unable to urinate and was put on a pain management and catheter to ensure comfort until the internal medicine vet could see him in the morning. In the morning after an ultrasound, we received a call from the vet where in the short time he knew Arlo was a handsome and sweet doggo, even though he had just met him. Unfortunately for our family, the news was not good and we had to make the decision to euthanize our beloved pet. We were put in a room where Arlo was offered a charcuterie board which included chocolate, ability to have our other doggo in the room and take his passing at our pace. We opted for a private cremation and they took care of everything. We were so distraught with the process and in the end were so thankful for their handling of it all... they got paw prints from Arlo before his departure and wrote a heart felt note of condolences. I have had good experience with the staff in physical therapy who helped my German Shepherd rebuild the muscles needed to keep her moving and playing into the 12th year of her life. That said I brought her in on a Sunday only because my own vet was closed. She seemed to be having breathing difficulties and over the week before she was lethargic and not her usual playful self. Given her advanced age, I was very concerned she was not going to make it through the 50 minute trip. When I arrived at MedVet the staff was putting another dog on a stretcher. They hog/tied the do, and when they came to my dog they quickly did the same. I cringed knowing that my dog had spine issues and probably was in pain being held in that position. Certainly that issue would have been in her records. It is important to know thatMed vet does not allow the dog owner be with the dog during treatment, a policy that needs to be changed in my opinion. After about two hours a vet explained to me that they had done a chest X-ray and that they had uncovered growths on her lungs. The vet suspected cancer and asked if I wanted to do a biopsy which I declined given that she already was having hip problems and had lived well beyond expectations for a German Shepherd. Atty was an amazing dog and had a wonderful life full of frisbees and soccer balls. I concluded that euthanasia was the best option given her pre-existing issues and her age. I expected the euthanasia would happen within the hour. Instead I was brought to a very cold room and waited for about three or four hours. They told me I would have time to be with my dog in privacy and I could push a button when we were ready to do the euthanasia. I pushed the button once and was told I should wait until they brought my dog in. The wait was excruciating. Around 4 pm (we had arrived around 12 if my memory serves me correctly) My dog was wheeled into the room. She was hog tied on a metal table. The person who was waiting to do the euthanasia asked me if I wanted her to leave so that I could have a private moment with her. In all honesty at this point I just wanted to end my dog's misery and I reminded myself she was probably heavily sedated. In hindsight I wish I had had the presence of mind to insist that they take the hog ties off. Most importantly, if we were going to wait four hours or so why couldn't they bring my dog into that space, and I could have been with her that whole time? These are the questions that currently haunt me. Given the policy of separating pets from their owners surely raises a lot of questions about what is going on with our animals when they are separated from us. I was unprepared for how bad this experience would be because In 2005 we had another German Shepherd dog who had cancer and needed to be euthanized. The staff and the protocols at that time were very different. We were allowed to be with our dog the whole time. When it was time to be euthanized they took us into a very comfortable room, I sat on the floor with my dog, and the vet/tech explained the procedure to me i.e. the sedative first and then the shot to euthanize the dog. All of us including the dog were sitting on the floor. There was no hogtie, no metal tables, and soft lighting. As a result of my using Med Vet for physical therapy for our dog I know there are wonderful people working there who do the best they can for the animals they treat. I strongly suggest that corporate look at their business model to find a way to deliver timely, humane, and appropriate care for the animals they treat. I have subsequently verified that hog tying a dog is extremely distressing. The bill for this horrendous experience is now $1901.87. MedVet profits in 2023 were 57.6 million dollars. I gave MedVet a low rating but this has nothing to do with the staff failings; Indeed Medvet is probably failing its staff. I strongly suggest they rethink their business model. Hiring more staff would deal with the long waits, paying better salaries would keep consistent staffing and most importantly allowing owners to stay with their pets would alleviate mistrust. With such a policy one has to ponder what the Company wants to hide. read more

LOVE!!! We ended up taking our boy Maverick to Pet Vet Urgent Care Blue Ash around 1:30pm due to his worsening swelling in his leg. Was told there was a wait until initially 5:30pm, which then turned to 7:40pm by the time they checked us in somehow, and ended up being 8:09pm by the time we ended communication with them. We notified them around 6pm that his condition had worsened, had multiple pockets of fluid throughout his body, was very warm, and his stitches around his neuter were red. They then told us that we needed to find somewhere else to take him and we couldn't be seen at all by them tonight. Understand the need for priority of urgent animals first, but at least have the decency to tell us earlier or give us an accurate idea of when he can be seen. Very disappointed to say the least. We then called basically everywhere from Cincinnati to Dayton that was open and got responses that they all had between 5 and 12 hour wait times. Eventually, we decided to just take him to MedVet Cincinnati to be seen and have vitals taken asap and they could let us know next steps. He had a temp of 103.3 and she agreed that it's most likely an infection. They were so caring and loved him almost as much as we do and got us in and out within 30 minutes. We are now home, waiting on their call to bring him in to be seen by a vet and get a clear diagnosis, but it is most likely an infection from him licking his neuter site, and now there's fluid spreading through his leg and now a visible pocket in his stomach. They also offered to do a full blood work up to make sure there isn't anything else wrong given his length of stay at the shelter and how malnourished he still is and the fact that he was a stray. UPDATE: We never received a call that night and had to call them the following morning to get any kind of response. We then went to other vets in the area and also couldn't be seen due to being booked. Finally at 10am we get a text that they're ready for us so we drive over in 15 minutes. We get checked back in, vitals retaken, and then sat there for over 2 hours while everyone else who comes in is seen and taken care of except us. At that point, we got in contact with Wyoming Veterinary Clinic and they got us in within an hour and we were in and out of their clinic in under 30 minutes and for much less money than MedVet would've charged us. If you need emergency care - DO NOT go here. Call around and worst case scenario, walk in somewhere and they can take a look. HIGHLY recommend Wyoming for any of your pet's needs!!! read more

Our fur baby got very sick so Sunday at 3am, we called MedVet and explained symptoms and they said to bring her in ... when we got their they took her temp, heart beat & checked gums and said they would call us the following day when a vet was in the office. There was NOT a vet there when we went so I don't see how this is advertised as a Vet ER open 24/7/365?? I will NEVER go to this place again and I'm going to tell my regular vet about this experience so they DON'T recommend their clients going there after hours! read more

MedVet... just wow These people have officially saved my dogs life.... TWICE!!! The staff is super sweet and helpful!! They were patient and accommodating to not only me but my pup! He has anxiety around other dogs and really loves being with people but he had to stay over night, so they let him stay in the break room because he was crying!!! Just sweet people who actually are about animals and helping. They were very understanding about budget and payment planning. I called before I went there and asked a question regarding to the process for my dog. I told them I would be on my way very soon. I arrived at the facility at quarter till 2:00 PM. Upon getting there a veterinary assistant, "took my dogs vitals" but upon bringing my dog back, informed me that she didn't even bother looking at what I had brought my dog there for in the first place and that she couldn't because she is not a vet and currently no vet was at the facility. The place is called MedVet. It's a medical emergency place for dogs That's open 24/7. That's an Oxymoron in and of itself. Like I said earlier, we talked on the phone and I had told them I was on my way. I should have been told at that time that no vets for available at that moment so I could have made an informed decision and taken my dog somewhere he could have received proper care. Going on seven hours later as I type this, I'm still sitting in the lobby of MedVet. My dog's scar has reopened, bled all over the floor. They put a band aid on it up and sent him right back out to me and said they'd get it to it later. My dog has not used the bathroom because I'm scared of his bleeding getting worse. He needs to take his medication for his wound with his food and that's at home. My other dog is at home starving and hopefully hasn't used the bathroom in his crate. A multitude of people have come and gone while I remain. When I brought this to the attention of the person at the front desk, they barley would look over their monitors at me and pretty much ignored me. I had over $600 I knew there was no way so I went and got cash and made the payment. Come to find out they charged my card twice and REFUSE to give me back my cash.
