My boy fell sick over a holiday. We rushed him to the closest ER vet. They immediately put him on oxygen but had to wait for the next available vet to see him because they were busy. This was at 5 pm. They did xrays which the vet said showed fluid around the lungs. The consultation was not good, leaving us with little to no options. Looking back I feel we made the wrong decision. We left around midnight without our boy. He was not ready to leave this world and had a lot more to offer. He was only 3 year old. Extremely disappointed!. Went there on a Wednesday at 6pm for a dog bite to my friends dog. We were there for 6 hours. There was one person ahead of us. Cost was over $900. But they did such a bad job of stitching her that my friend had to return the next day to spend 8 hours and over $1400 more to fix their screw up. When my friend called to let them know she was on her way, they said no one was there so,of course, thought it should go quickly. Nope! 8 hours went by as she waited in a room for them to fix her dog. They kept saying that she was next and then they are reviewing her situation FOR HOURS!! The front desk people are nice but it seems like they just have a line to feed you while you wait for ever. And also, you get charged differently by whatever doctor handles your situation. They take advantage of a bad situation and profit from it. In my opinion I felt violated. Avoid the place at all cost or it will cost you more than money. read more

Hello, I hope to add more later, but for now it's enough to write that Fitz was treated exactly the same as a human who was clearly very very sick for reasons difficult to determine, so they did everything they could to treat what they did know and kept at it. I didn't have the heart to take any before videos, and have included here one after video. The cost was, to me, reasonable, although hardly inexpensive. That I can afford it colors my view, of course, but item by item, all the procedures and diagnostic tests were appropriately priced. There simply were a lot of them and many many staff performing them. This review also applies to the Dayton facility from which Fitz had to be transferred for tests not available in Dayton. They were very cooperative in letting me drive Fitz to Cincinnati to speed up the process and Cincinnati held a space, so to speak, for Fitz's tests until we could get there. Thank you everyone! I appreciated having a 24 hour emergency hospital available when my cat suddenly had a breathing episode. They were able to get her stabilized and while we're still working with specialists to figure out the underlying cause, she's now resting comfortably at home. The front office girls who answer phones were very sweet but the vet (Grace) and the woman below her were extremely rude. It appears that this place is all about money and offered absolutely 0 compassion. Took my dog in for an emergency. They induced vomit and ran blood work and said my dog looked normal. From there, they highly encouraged that he stay the night for "monitoring" JUST IN CASE something bad were to happen for $2,000...YES, $2000! I agreed and then changed my mind because of the cost being so high and my dog looked great and blood tests came back fine. When I changed my mind and told the vet I would prefer taking him home (which was never even an option that they proposed to me), she got extremely rude and out of line. She also just kept mentioning like three times that she was going to make us sign an "AMA" (against medical advice) as a way to bully us into paying the $2,000. She then continued trying to force us to keep our dog there to which we told her we would monitor him from home. Once she realized we weren't going to keep him there, she grabbed her phone walked out of the room and literally slammed the door shut without a word. After that, they made me wait about 25 minutes before bringing my dog back to me. Not everyone has $2,000 to hand over to just MONITOR a pet where I could just do that from home. I stayed up literally all night with my dog to make sure he was okay and planned to take him back IF he started showing signs of illness and he was happy as can be and literally nothing happened. Took him to his actual vet the next day and blood tests came back normal. His actual vet was so nice and caring and understanding. The whole experience with the vet at Care Center was super weird and nothing that I have ever encountered before in my life and I grew up with dogs. I am thinking that this was the vets first big girl job so below is some advice: 1) Don't greet your patients while texting on your phone (very unprofessional) 2) Work on your bedside manners- pets are like humans to some people and showing compassion goes a long way especially during a time that is stressful and scary 3)Show that you care without coming off as a bully read more

Been here 2 hours and haven't been seen by even a nurse or vet tech . After their online check , they left us in our car with our pup for an hour . I had to come in and say something to get us in the place then we sat for 2.5 hrs before the skittish nurse come to get Vee and check his vitals , which l don't think they got properly because they said Vee Was scaring them and were afraid of being bitten (he had a muzzle on ). They could have checked them the the exam room we were on with us in there to knee him calm So $300.00 and 5.5 hrs later we left with some overpriced meds and a vague diagnosis of what was wrong with our. The Care Center in Cincinnati is amazing! A 10-pound miniature pinscher/Chihuahua mix showed up on our porch one morning, seriously injured following what appeared to be a vicious attack by one or more large dogs. Little "Buddy", had puncture wounds in his chest, abdomen and hindquarters, one or more of which punctured his lung, causing it to collapse. He was hospitalized, first at the Dayton Care Center for one night, where he also received excellent care! However, the availability of an experienced canine thoracic surgeon was not guaranteed, so he was transferred to the Cincinnati Care Clinic the following morning. We can't say enough good things about the care he received there! The veterinary, hospitalist, and surgeon, or knowledgeable and skilled. Furthermore, they were were great at communicating with us. The veterinary assistants and Other staff were also excellent! read more

If you love your pet(s) as your child, like myself, then I recommend you DO NOT bring them here. I found absolutely no compassion here. It's as if they are programmed to be zombie like. They do say sorry, but I didn't believe they truly mean it. We brought our cat in to be examined and he ended up spending two days in the hospital. We absolutely agreed to this as they presented that they were confident, and they only provided this and another similar option, none of which were euthanasia. After signing, they took away the paperwork for the options and didn't provide us copies of anything we signed (I wonder if this is so we aren't able to prove it need be?). Thankfully we do have an itemized bill we are taking to our vet to review it with them as they referred us here. They really gave us false high hopes for our baby. They claimed things were looking positive and discharged him. When getting in the car, he didn't appear right in his cage, but they are the experts, so we trusted them. 18 hours later my wife called asking to bring him back. They called us back 20 minutes later and "invited" us to come back in. We rushed him back (driving there takes another 20 minutes), dying in my wife's arms, gasping for air. We walked in and a tech ran out saying "Is this the emergency" the receptionist confirmed and she ran him to the back. A Vet came out shortly after and took us back. They told us he barely had a heartbeat and was pretty much gone, therefore we decided to end his suffering. It appears if their number one priority is how you're going to pay. Seems to be all about the money. I understand you are running a business (as I run one myself) but we shouldn't feel scammed and ripped off, especially when we are grieving a child. They gave us an estimate and expect us to sign it immediately, allowing no time to review it. Most likely you're in an emergency state, so you will fall for any intimidation and sign anything put in front of you, so they will go start saving your baby. I can't help but believe they prey on this, given our experience. Even right after the euthanasia, they put us in a room and out comes the clipboard with "how is this going to be paid?" I'm assuming they will respond to this post with their template response, that their lawyers probably wrote up, (My wife works in legal documentation so she is very familiar with this) but, I already took that step and met with Lindsey Stewart, the Hospital Operations Manager. No avail. I'm pretty sure she didn't even review my case. Maybe she'll review it now? "We can't credit your card" Really, because you're front staff said "We will just collect payment at discharge, so we don't have to CREDIT YOUR CARD." Also I've had credits issued to it before, so I know that's totally bull. We understand these tests and treatments cost, but taking my cat in and coming out owning $4,220 without my baby isn't right. I feel like the way they present options to their patients is borderline deceptive. If they were compassionate towards our pet they wouldn't present themselves in such a way. I'm not sure how their employees can live with themselves, working for a company with a business model like this. Maybe that's why the wait times are so long, as many others have already said. We were referred to Care Center from our normal vet when our 2 year old Aussie Doddle developed a limp and X-rays did not show any concerns. Initial consultation for our 2 year old dog with Care Center was an overall good experience. The Vet/ assistant took the time to discuss that this was really hard to diagnose and presented us with three options for treatment/ further evaluation which include medication/ rest, CT scans, and then a referral to The Ohio State University for further evaluation if we were open to the travel and experience. We asked the vet for their recommendation, which ended up being to try the medications/rest as well as get scheduled at OSU. We agreed and the Vet advised he would submit the referral online to OSU and we would hear from OSU on scheduling. Since then (2 months ago), we have literally heard nothing. We called Care Center for an update and they said they would check and call us back. No call back. We called OSU direct and tried to schedule, they stated they have never gotten a referral. They are now scheduling into July 2022. We have called Care Center back 3 times over the past few weeks and each time they say they will check and someone will call us back. No call backs. We don't recommend Care Center as this time as their blatant disregard for follow ups is discouraging and their overall professionalism is lacking. read more

Our new vet referred us here for a pulmonary specialist. Our vet ordered a bronchoscopy but when we arrived we had to have a mandatory general exam (super redundant and expensive at $150 since they had our dog's chart from her vet visit last week!) Rather than proceeding with what our vet requested, we were told to do a CT scan and then 3 possible tests depending on the findings from the CT (think fancy x-ray). Here's where the logic fell apart. The doctor was willing to move forward with the 3 possible tests after taking a CT that day. However, embedded in the CT cost was a radiology reading where the results would not come for 3 days. Why pay the extra $600 for the radiologist to review if you're already going to proceed with what you see from the CT yourself? When asked if we could remove the radiology consult, they refused. Why would it matter if you've already taken action before a radiologist confirmed the diagnosis? Makes no sense. It gets better. 3 days later when we got the results back, the vet at Care Center thought it was a fungal infection in our dog's lungs which, when mentioned during our first visit, she didn't bother testing for. Turns out that requires a urine sample which is ~$250. So she made us do a $2200 CT first when we could've ruled out the fungal diagnosis with $250? Absurd. This place is out to nickel and dime you at a vulnerable time (our dog is 14 and has been coughing and wheezing ). While the staff is friendly and kind, their practice and the logic behind the steps they take to provide care make zero sense. Wish they would've just don't the broncoscopy if they were going to charge that much. It would've been about the same cost as the CT and we would've known what type of infection she had given that a cell culture would've been taken and analyzed. I would take your pet elsewhere unless you absolutely have to come here. We liked the place on Redbank a lot better for specialty care but the wait for an appointment at MedVet was a week longer than here (we wanted our dog to be seen ASAP to alleviate her symptoms). ... just stinks that we learned the hard way and now know why this place had so many open appointments!) read more

Charged us $2000 and did absolutely nothing for our dog except take xrays . I called the next morning and stated I was picking our dog up to take to our vet . Upon arriving they said I owed an additional $400 . Then they changed their minds and said they owed me $400 . When the worker brought our dog out she said he had the cone on his head due to the surgery . First of all our dog is a female and she didnt have surgery . After listening to this confusion we took "her" to our vet . He stated he would give her fluids and she should pass it quickly . Four hours later the vet called daid had passed most of the blockage and the rest would follow shortly , which it did . The only response from the care center was she would need surgery . User beware it's not about the care of your pet , it's the $$$$$$. Left a survey and received no response . read more

The care we were shown today was exceptional. Our dog's heart stopped as we walked in the door and the staff went straight into action. Although he sadly did not make it, they were able to resuscitate him so we could say good bye and love on him one last time before we put him to sleep. this place is a joke and a nightmare, and they gouge all there about is making money!! They lied to me about how long something would take so they could keep the dog longer. Their goal is probably to keep the dog overnight. They keep you there as late as possible so you're tired. When I was arguing with how long it would take, the veterinarian repeatedly told me it "was an ER, and she literally had dying dogs. She had to take care of.". I tried to explain. I understood that but in an ERU triage once you take a patient back you finish that treatment in a normal ER, but she wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise. She was mad with me from the beginning because I wouldn't take some of the products she tried to sell me so from the moment I wouldn't take everything she tried to sell me she treated me rudely Then she tried to convince me to keep my dog overnight. When I told her I had to go home she told me how long and excruciating the discharge process would be. I explained to her that I wanted the dog released, and that I agreed to the medication's to take home and not stay and she told me that she wasn't gonna treat my dog and she hung up on me read more

We took her to Care Center and we were greeted by Ashley F who listened to us, assed her needs and quickly jumped into action to have her seen by Dr. Ferrell. We spent our last minutes in a comfortable room giving Fibbs lots of love and belly rubs. Ashley kept coming in to check on us- she had such a loving Demeanor- and created a calm environment where we could cry and even laugh about all the love we got from our old girl Fibbs. Dr. Ferrell was super sweet and compassionate, too! He made us feel like our decision was the right one to take the pain away from such a good friend!!! I can't thank this team of professionals enough for everything they did for us!!! We sure do miss our girl- the pain is brutal... but Ashley and Dr. Ferrell will forever be in our hearts!!! read more

The only reason this place even deserves one star is because of the nice lady I dealt with when I took my dog here at 4 am. FRIDAY MORNING: My dog had lost all ability to walk with his back legs, so we rushed him to one of the only emergency vet clinics in the city. Upon arriving, Chase was brought in and checked out by the Dr. on at 4 am. She recommended surgery due to a possible herniated disc in his back. She claimed that the prognosis was good of him walking again (90%). They sent two estimates for this, one for medical management (which she said wouldn't work) for 1200$+, and then one for surgery that was estimated at 5200$+. She urged us to go the surgery route for our pet, with a reminder that they couldn't perform anything else on him without the full amount of the estimate up front. We scrambled around and 3 hours later, called back and paid the 5200$ for him to have the surgery. Two hours later I received a call from a surgeon (Dr.Rowe) who confirmed that he believed surgery was the right option, but in his opinion we needed to take the dog to DAYTON to do an MRI instead of a CT Scan. It would be another 1500$. I opted out on the MRI, and they made do with the CT Scan just fine. I received a call back from Dr.Rowe about an hour and a half later, telling me that Chase was non-operable, but he was enthusiastic about medical management for his condition now! Told me that he believed Chases chances of walking again were still 85-90%! He also told me that since it was the weekend, another Dr would be on call (Dr.Muldoon) and I should hear an update from her around 9:30 am on Saturday. SATURDAY MORNING: 9:30 comes and goes, I hear nothing from CARE-- so I decided to call. I was told the vet would call me back within the hour, she was just finishing up her rounds. No call comes. At 11:30, I call back... I'm told that there was an emergency she had to deal with, but not to worry.... a call will be coming soon At 12:45, I finally receive a call from Dr.Muldoon, who has the worst bedside manner phone manner I have ever experienced in the entirety of my life. She completely contradicted Dr.Rowe at every turn. Made me feel like I was a complete bother to her for calling and ended the call with "well it's your prerogative to come get your dog, I wouldn't recommend it, but I'm not holding him hostage" At 5:30 I call back, only to be hung up on once, and then left on hold for another 6 minutes by Ben the Receptionist. Finally I hang up and call back, and talk to a wonderful vet tech, that gives me an update on my dog. SUNDAY MORNING- We wait for a call again, and finally end up calling in around 11:00 because once again, we haven't heard from Dr.Muldoon. She tells us we're able to come pick our dog up at 3:00-4:00 pm. He isn't walking yet, and it will be a long journey to that, but still has great odds (85-90%!), she confident we've done the right thing. Tells me all of her discharge info, tells me that a vet tech will show me all of the stuff I need to know once we get there. 3:30, we show up... and around 4:30 they bring Chase out.... he's in a harness to help him walk, and they're going to show me how to "express his bladder". They're unable to do so, but send me home anyway... total of my bill at CARE for their services NOT INCLUDING SURGERY is $4100.00 MONDAY MORNING-- After 3 failed attempts of "expressing his bladder", and knowing he surely has to pee, I take him in to my personal vet at 7:30 in the morning for them to help me. They aren't able to get the job done.... they can't believe CARE Center sent me home without being able to show me how to do it/to ensure it could be done. My vet tells me that she's appalled that they have given him such high chances of him walking again.... she couldn't in good conscience give me half of those odds. My dog is put under, a catheter is put in.... I take him home after making another vet appointment for that coming Thursday. Total for my bill $313.00 TUESDAY & WEDS- I take off work to care for an animal that means a lot to me.... i change his catheter bag-- I give him his meds 3x a day, I set up a puppy ICU. THURSDAY MORNING- I take Chase in for his appt at 8:30 and am told my vet that she believes that chase will not get better contrary to CARE Centers opinion. He isn't moving his back legs at all, he seems to be in pain when they said he shouldn't be. We've done all we can she says, she recommends Euthanasia to end his suffering. --------------------------------------- CARE Center prays on people when they bring their animal to them. They charge insane amounts of money and give you false hope that you're doing the right thing to make your animal better. Once they have your money in hand, everything changes and they are suddenly too busy to call, diagnoses and action plans change and the staff has a terrible attitude. Avoid at all costs. read more

I took my 13 yr old dog to Care Center at 4:30 pm on Sat. That was his third day of not eating and was lethargic. He was taken to the back within the first hour of our arrival. I told the vet tech that I wanted x-rays and bloodwork taken. Throughout the evening, I was told he was being given fluids and was on oxygen. Before retirement, I was a vet tech so I was confused by the need for oxygen but if they felt the need for it, ok. About 11 pm I was finally told the results of his bloodwork which showed extremely elevated kidney levels. Why did it take so many hours to be told these results? I chose to take him home as I knew the results showed he was in kidney failure and I didn't believe he would make it through the night. The next day since he was still alive I made a last ditch effort by returning to Care Center. Whether it's for their pets or a loved one, people will grasp straws for a miracle. I arrived at 3:30 pm, told the receptionist that I was there the prior day and his elevated levels. With no expression, I was told to take a seat. I sat in that seat holding my dying dog until I was the only one in the waiting area. It was 1:00 am. My dog had then started labored breathing. I went to the front desk, said I knew it was then too late to do anything for my dog and why had I been ignored for nine hours? Twice during that time, a vet tech came out to "check vitals" on him and I was told each time, we were fourth in line. When I finally confronted them, I wasn't shouting but I admit I was "vigorously" informing them about their inhumane treatment of me and my dog. I was then told the police would be called on me if I didn't leave. Monday am when my regular vet opened their doors, I had my baby euthanized. I'm sure this will elicit a seemingly caring response from Care Center and my misinterpretation of events. My major regret is not complaining and being threatened with the police several hours earlier. read more

Then they turned around and sent his paw print and his little nose print to the wrong address. When I asked him about this they said well that's something you have to take up with the postal service we can't do anything about it. This is a very bad place. I am so glad I listened to my intuition and did not listen to the staff here! Otherwise we would have euthanized our cat for no reason. A few weeks ago we brought our cat here for shallow fast paced breathing because our regular vet was full and couldn't take him. $850 dollars and a few hours later they couldn't tell us what was wrong with him, just that they were very concerned and suggested we start exploratory treatment that would just START at $4000. We told them we would not be paying that. They replied with, "well what CAN you pay? What's your budget?" red flag! When we told them $1000 they said then we need to discuss euthanasia for him. Again, they didn't even know what was wrong with him and gave us no answers except we needed to put him down! I told my husband that something felt very wrong. We told them, please stop everything you're doing we are coming to get him. After waiting another 1.5 hours just to discharge him, they gave us our bill which had X-rays listed twice (an extra $400)! Thank goodness my husband caught this "mistake" and had them take it off. The next day our cat was literally fine and acting normal. Now it's been two weeks and he is 100% fine. I am SO glad we didn't listen to them and put him down! Please be cautious about this place and go with your gut. read more

She really made me feel as if my pet and me as a client were the most important things to her at that moment. Thank goodness for my regular vet stepping in first thing Monday. Sadly, many positive Yelp reviews of this operation involve nothing more than compassion for deceased pets. A review of negative reviews on their website reveals lame excuses of being more busy than usual. With the prices charged, they could certainly hire additional staffing. My sweet chihuahua, Oriya, was hit and killed by a car under a Rover dog sitter care. The sitter brought my pup's body to Care Center Cincinnati and these people have been so wonderful. We were in vacation and they were able to keep her body for an extra day. They cared so much more than the Rover dog sitter. They gave us a private room to see her and grief. Then today, we received a card unexpectedly from them with my pup's foot and nose prints. Those are so beautiful that made us ugly cry. We miss our baby so much and Care Center Cincinnati made the experience a bit more beautiful. read more

I had to take my dog of 16 years into Care Center on Kemper Rd. I was hesitant because of some of the reviews I read, but they were great. First, I love their process of filling out info online then the call u in. No sitting and waiting around the waiting room for hours. Dr Koether was very nice and took her time explaining everything and answering all of our questions I never felt rushed or persuaded one way or another. She acted like Nikko was the only patient she had and we could spend as much time as needed to make our decisions and she would be there for any questions. We opted to let Nikko go because of his age and other health issues, the whole staff was very compassionate. We were put in a nice room and able to spend as long as we wanted with him. I held him through the whole procedure. We were from out of town and I told them we would only be in Cincinnati another 2 weeks and asked if the cremation would be ready by then and she said yes, they would make sure. I received a call the very next day that he was ready, along with a clay footprint, I had ordered. They also included paw prints and nose prints in a nice card. Highly recommend! read more

I usually don't write reviews but I felt very strongly about writing this one. Doctor and staff were very nice when we took our pet in for an emergency visit. We have a nine year old Dachshund that had been to a previous doctor when she was having trouble walking and they felt she needed rest and it was a nerve. She then fell down our steps and was not walking at all. When we had her checked out by a doctor at Care Center she told us after the examination that she was paralyzed and in pain and she was worried about her quality of life. Needless to say we were upset and told her it wasn't an option to put her down. After she left and I pulled it together I told my husband I didn't see any signs of her being in pain. We took her home, bought her a wheelchair that she did well in and gave her plenty of rest. After 5 weeks she is now walking on her own. My video was to big to attach to this review. Please, please think about and go with your heart and not necessarily what these doctors are telling you. An MRI was not recommended and I don't feel that putting $2000 to $2500 out would have changed her diagnosis but she was terribly wrong. I was very impressed with care center. Originally, my appointment was a couple of weeks out but they had a cancellation and called and got me in the day after I initially called them. The entire staff was fantastic and explained everything to me about my dog's diagnosis with heart failure. Dr. McLane took her time and explain things to me. Efficient, and great explanation of diagnosis and treatment plan. It is definitely not inexpensive, but to me, it was worth the money. read more
