I took my dog in on a Saturday evening for an injury. All the staff were great, everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was a bit of a wait since my dog didn't have a critical injury, but they have a really nice waiting room with drinks and tv. Dr Dana Brandenburg saw my dog and I felt like she really took her time looking her over and addressing my concerns, talking about options for care, and sent me home with detailed instructions printed out. I thought they were reasonably priced for an emergency vet. I would definitely use them again (But hope to not have to) ! read more

Absolutely horrible waits. I could understand if they were busy, but they make you wait hours to get a room, you sit forgotten in the room a few more hours, the vet briefly looks at your pet that's now been paralyzed and sometimes seizing, just to tell you they'll get discharge papers ready without explaining anything, then they leave you a few more hours. The absolute least they could do is have an escalating discount for every hour you're there beyond the first 2. 15% per hour discount until your visit is free since they left you for so long. read more

Turned away a dog who was throwing up his seizure meds after waiting 3 hours - was told to go home

Dr Emma Lasley misdiagnosed my dog due to age discrimination even though I repeatedly told her my dog had ingested half pound of chocolate & was suffering severe symptoms of chocolate toxicity which could be fatal. As soon as I told her my dog was 13yrs old, she told me it was NOT chocolate toxicity & after an ultrasound she told me that my dog had a very large tumor & only had days to live. She gave me expensive prescriptions to "keep my dog comfortable," which made my dog so out of it that you'd believe she might be dying. What my dog needed was IV fluids to dilute the theobromine & caffeine which are the poisons to dogs in the chocolate, & IV fluids make it easier on the dog as it works its way through their system. My dog was experiencing every single symptom of chocolate toxicity, including internal swelling & bleeding, which can appear as a large tumor on the liver in an ultrasound! This vet never mentioned chocolate toxicity after I told her initially this is what was happening & she told me it was NOT! Leaving no possibility that this could be anything other than liver cancer because my dog was 13yrs old. This visit cost me $345! And my dog did not even receive proper treatment for the entire reason in which I had taken her. She could have died from chocolate toxicity due to no treatment!! But she did not! Because when she woke up the next morning she was doing much better so I stopped the meds which made her seem so sick & unresponsive. She improved from there & a visit to her regular vet confirmed she was suffering from extreme chocolate toxicity & was very fortunate to have survived without any treatment despite the expensive visit to the emergency vet office, Care Center & seeing Dr Emma Lasley! She does not have a tumor on her liver, that was just swelling from the toxicity & Dr Lasley should have known this was a possibility, but she stereotyped my baby as an old dog who certainly must be dying in her eyes! Thank God I made the decisions I made by stopping the meds so that I could tell that my dog was back to normal, & taking her to an intelligent, PROFESSIONAL vet who ran the proper tests & considered her symptoms could possibly be from chocolate toxicity after ingesting possibly more than a half pound instead of giving a 100% diagnosis of a terminal tumor simply because of her age. If I had listened to Dr Lasley, my dog would've been on these debilitating meds the rest of her life because I could not afford chemo or surgery, which certainly could've shortened her life as one of them affected the brain. Which she told me to discuss surgery with my family if my dog actually did not pass in the next few days. She traumatized me for no reason & completely disregarded not only the chocolate toxicity but the fact that there could be anything else at all that could be the cause of her symptoms. And she was dead wrong! Please DO NOT take your pet to this emergency veterinary clinic because unless you have a lot of medical knowledge yourself, your animal could be misdiagnosed, untreated for what is really wrong, & possibly lose their life because of this! With all my heart I wish I'd held out until morning when my regular vet opened so that I wasn't forced to throw away $345 & get zero relief or treatment for my dog. I'm considering suing them for my money back & what they put my dog & myself through. I took my dog in as an emergency because her chocolate toxicity symptoms were severe & she was even convulsing on & off as well as shaking uncontrollably. I was afraid she was dying from this toxicity but thank God she wasn't because this vet did absolutely NOTHING for her chocolate toxicity because she misdiagnosed her & refused to listen to reason & consider that the toxicity was responsible. Had she died I would have already retained an attorney. But right now I am concerned for all the other innocent animals who might find themselves in need of emergency medical services. They will NOT receive proper treatment from this veterinarian at this facility! PLEASE do your research & take them to a much more professional clinic with vets who won't stereotype & actually consider all circumstances before diagnosing & who will give your animal proper treatment! read more

We have, unfortunately, had to visit this facility twice this summer. Both times we couldn't have asked for more competent, kind care. The facility is beautiful and clean. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They really took time to listen to our concerns regarding our pup. Our last visit resulted in the diagnosis of an autoimmune disease but we left feeling confident in his treatment plan and outlook due to the care we received at Care Center. 100% would not go anywhere else for emergent vet care. read more

My husband and I were traveling from New York to Dayton, OH back in November 2023 with our 11-year-old mini aussie, Cassie. About two hours into our 10-hour drive, she started vomiting, was very lethargic, and could no longer walk. We immediately registered her online at Dayton Care Center to be seen around our estimated arrival time. When we arrived about 8 hours later, they were ready for us. The women at the front desk looked at her gums and told us that because her gums were pale, they suspected internal bleeding. They immediately took her to the back room and started working on her. I wish I could remember the woman's name at the front desk - she had very short buzz cut hair and kept us updated while we sat in the waiting room. She was very kind, but also made sure we understood the seriousness of the situation, asking us if we wanted to sign a DNR for our dog. After maybe 30 minutes in the waiting room, we were bought into a private room to meet with Dr. Colvin about the bloodwork results and possible diagnosis. It turned out our sweet girl had hemolytic anemia; they said she'd be there for a few days so they could do blood transfusions and try to determine the cause of the anemia (cancer, tick related, etc.). They let us see her again before we left than night and gave us as much time as we wanted. The following morning, I called to check in on her. The nurse that took my call was very kind and said Cassie was resting peacefully while in line to get an abdominal ultrasound. About ten minutes later, Dr. Ernst called and told me that they gave Cassie a light sedative prior to the ultrasound and that her heart stopped. He gave me time to grieve and called back a few minutes later to speak with my husband about next steps. We were only in town for 4 days, but they made sure to have her cremated before we had to leave back to New York. In the short 16 hours that Cassie was in their care, I felt that she was always in good hands. They did everything they could to save her, even though it ultimately didn't work out. I will forever be grateful for the kindness that they showed us. After we got back home, we even received a card from the Dayton Care Center, signed by the staff that worked on Cassie. They saved my dog's life. In August they discovered an enormous aggressive cancerous mass growing inside my dog. They were helpful, not pushy, kind, gave me options and were very informative with my dogs diagnosis. The mass was successfully removed along with his spleen. He was treated with love and respect and they continue to do so during his visits with oncology. Obviously you're paying specialty prices and emergency prices. Don't be surprised at your hefty bill. They do have payment plans though to help ease the blow a bit. My dog wouldn't be here today without the care center staff. I am so forever grateful. I don't know how much longer I have with my boy - but I know it's a heck of a-lot longer now than it would've been if I hadn't taken him here in August. Forever will recommend! I pushed some water into his mouth with syringe that day, but he was getting worse. Dr Dana Brandenburg took care of him, she is a vet. We came with food poisoning. He received pain medication - that completely knocked him out & he was gasping for breath!! and nothing else. I had to ask several times for Liquid iv for him, and he was not treated for food poisoning! After labs were run, his platelets were low, and low BP. Plan was to treat underlying condition, not the food poisoning that was killing him at the moment. Am I missing something? Our emergency experience was Fearful, my dog was suffering and nothing was being done to help with his food poisoning, Nothing. Perhaps it was salmonella, or not fresh fish he ate,, Dr Brandenburg came to educate us, How low platelets effect his body, and what can be done to discover what kind of cancer he might have, While my dog was laying flat, struggling to breathe & dying . . She told me his BP was 80, I asked her is that systolic?, dog has passed. This place is called an emergency hospital, but my dog was not treated as an emergency case. The day had come for our 17 year old kitty and we hadn't established a vet since moving to the area. We were hopeful we were going somewhere compassionate and we couldn't have dreamed of a better experience considering the horrible day it was destined to be. Sat around for 4 hours thinking our dog was being looked at after being told the doctor would be in within 30mins to give us an update. Fast forward an hour and were told the doctor would be in shortly fast forward another hour had to go out and ask if the doctor was coming in. When the doctor finally arrived we found out that nothing has even been started on our dog. Second update: My cat won't stop licking the area where they gave him unnecessary subcutaneous fluids. Update: After receiving antibiotic and anti inflammatory injections, as well as fluid under the skin, my cat is very touchy and in pain. The skin over his back ripples and shakes, and he gets very upset if I touch him. He's been walking around calling/crying out all day too. My cat is never like this after regular vet visits where he gets vaccinated. I don't trust this place because it seems like he is responding badly to how he was handled by them. This place makes me uneasy for some reason. Something is just off. Meeting with the doctor felt like being sold a used car. She kept mentioning prices even after I said that my concern wasn't cost, but rather what was best first my cat. She ignored me and kept focusing on the total price of various components of treatment. It was a bit bizarre, and Dr. Miller didn't seem to have much of an interest in animals or humans, unlike typical veterinarians. I also don't feel good about a place that separates you from your pet for the entire visit. read more

Three weeks ago today my wife and I took our collie Macy to the Care Center on Clyo Rd. in Centerville. Brought her immediately from the Waynesville Vet Hospital, due to her being suddenly anemic. The Care Center diagnosed her as having Anemia (suspect IMHA) and Thrombocytopenia. Only a 50% chance of surviving, even with a blood transfusion. We decided to let her go, and not suffer any longer. She went from a happy healthy dog to painful suffering in two days time. When the Vet (Ellen Quigley) came and euthanized Macy, she stated that they could provide a complimentary paw print and a clipping of her hair for us to keep. They never followed through on that offer, and after checking with them three times, they could not come up with the print and hair clipping. They would keep telling me to check the mail and post office. They have no proof that they sent it out. I DO believe they "dropped the ball" on this and forgot to do it! Very disappointing!! Really cannot recommend this Emergency Vet Center, period. read more

Brought my 13 year old Siberian Husky, Boomer, here for cancer treatment ( anal gland and splenic) and to correct an abnormal heart rhythm. Initially I met with Dr. RePasy who was his oncology vet and then Dr. Cook, his heart doctor. I can't say enough good things about these two vets. Each one spent time with me explaining Boomer's situation which I desperately needed. They were so professional, informative, kind and compassionate up until the very end of Boomer's life. We were making trips here from January until July 9 when Boomer passed. The office staff were always so kind and helpful. It helped me cope with the reality I was facing. On Boomer's final visit on 7/9, the ER vet spoke with me and explained in detail all our options. I can't recall her name but she was equally professional and compassionate. The staff helped Boomer and his doggie parents to a quiet room where we spent our last evening with him. They were just so kind. I feel very blessed to have had Boomer under their care. The entire process was costly. But even at that, Dr. Repasy always explained the cost throughout our visits in detail and helped me make the most cost effective and ethical choice given Boomer's prognosis. I am forever grateful that we had extra time to enjoy our precious husky. He had a good life. I remember watching him as he slept at home on his last night-feet moving, tail wagging. Couldn't help but wonder what he was dreaming about. Thank you Dayton Care Center for giving Boomer the best care possible. read more

Yes, it's expensive. But at 430 am I had a choice...watch my beloved pet suffer or bring her here. She was perfect last night...this morning she woke me crying. When she tried to crawl away by pulling herself with her front paws I knew she had,a blood clot and we wouldn't be bringing her home. Glad I hadn't read prior reviews. They were so compassionate...and didn't hold out false hope to pile on charges. They asked permission to give her pain meds before meeting with us. And when I didn't want them to bring her to me to say goodbye because i didnt want her moved because of her discomfort, they let me into the treatment area where someone was always with her. I thanked them for being there. It was expensive and stressful...but so much better than waiting for our regular vet to open. I am grateful she didn't suffer longer than necessary. Dr. Halpin was great, caring, informative and stayed in touch. Unfortunately the people at the desk SUCK and truly need more customer service training. Told the dr I would be there at 7pm to pick up my dog got there 5 minutes early told the man at the phone I was here to pick up my dog he told me to have a seat and he would let them know. Took him a couple minutes to call someone. Dont understand why he could pick up the phone immediately. After waiting 25 minutes I said what taking so long "oh were busy " 3 people sitting at the phones didnt at all look busy plenty of people roaming the hall didnt look busy Finally a girl came out with medicine instructions went on and on with hyperbole about if I gave meds with food he would never eat that food again. went on about the faces he makes and how I should use the syringe. Said she would get me a syringe but never came back after standing there a while the rude man who checked me in said " what are you waiting on" Im waiting on the lady who forgot to bring my syringe " Oh she wouldnt forget yet he was the one to come back with the syringe. Next day I called to speak with the doctor Lady who answered the phone had to know what it was about I said about my dog I argued with this rude person(trying to be civil here because I had a few other names for her) for over ten minutes about I just want to speak with the doctor Im not exaggerating she just kept repeating herself and arguing with me She said well we have three dr. here I dont know who it would be and yet the dr name was printed on my bill. Hung up found the dr name and called back was then told by office manager who was at least polite explained the dr only here a couple times a month which is all the first lady had to say. Dealing with the phone people was more stressful that my dog being sick I would either give your phone staff some sensitivity training or fire them all as its obvious they act like they dont want to be there or they are very burned out!!!!! read more

Called at 11:30 PM due to a "delicate issue" only a male animal could experience. Showed up at their door at 12:30, at the start of a severe thunderstorm. Front staff was kind, caring and professional. Tech who came out to get my buddy was so sweet, understanding and compassionate. I was in and out in less than a half hour. They took the time to explain the issue, what they did to fix it and gave me instructions on how to fix it myself if it happens again (I hope it doesn't). I've taken two of my furbabies here for emergency treatment. My first emergency was my newfoundland who got bloat in the middle of the night. I rushed him there and I was told that he had about 30 minutes to live. Yes, it was pricey, but he was priceless to me. I agreed to the emergency surgery and they saved his life. He went on to live 6 more years. The second one and the one that is currently ongoing is my baby girl, Halen. She is a 3.8 year old German Shepherd who went there with heart failure. They immediately started treatment and it was discovered that she has endocarditis with aortic valve damage. Her life expectancy was initially 3 days. Well, we're 44 days in and she's still going strong. Dr. Cook and her team have done a tremendous job with both her and her neurotic Mom who bugs them constantly with questions. If I lose her tomorrow, I will still be forever grateful for what they've done for us. read more

This place SUCKS!! My cat has been there for 8 hours and just now told that a vet would see him within the next HOUR!! I have been a pet owner practically all of my 79 years and have had 15 dogs, this is my first cat, but I am no stranger to emergency pet situations, but unless I thought for sure my cat might be dying I would wait until I could take him to my vet! They tell you they had a lot of critical patients, blah, blah, but even if that's true, it shouldn't take 8-9 hours to see your pet who may not be critical but is having problems or he wouldn't be there! Just had to get this off my chest and make people be aware of how inefficient this vet is!! read more

This is hard for me to write this. But February 21 we took one of our cats obsidian to the Clayton animal hospital because he wasn't peeling. Turns out he had a blockage. So they were worried that he was going to make it overnight he they cared for him because they aren't 24/7 and also said if he didn't get better we would've had to go to care center anyway. So we just decided to rush him out to care center to get treatment we thought we was giving our buddy the best possible care. So we get there they quoted us for 24 hours 36 and 48 we asked questions about if the 24 hours is effective because that's the only one we could scramble up the money for. Which was $1,995 just for them to start treating him. So Saturday February 22 they were keeping us updated and saying he's doing fine he ate for them and all this stuff so when it came close to the time to pick him up now all of sudden they just now run his blood test and seen his kidney levels were very high. So they said he would have to stay again for another 24hours which was another $1,000+ dollars that we didn't have we struggled to pay for the first treatment. So we ask for another 12 hours which would've been the 36 they quoted us for and they said that was realistic he needs to be there another 24hours and they needed the money before continuing treatment . So we went to get him. But before they handed him over to us they make us/ people sign a form saying they can't be held responsible if anything happens to your pet since you refuse treatment. But it's like we got what treatment we could afford and it shouldn't be a issue to take your pet somewhere else that's cheaper. So then later that night into Sunday he got worse he wouldn't move eat drink anything but they claimed he did it for them and they didn't give him any antibiotics talking about no infection showed up but how when y'all said his kidney function was still off. So we couldn't get him to a vet again until Monday because vets are closed Sunday . We took him back to the Clayton animal hospital in the 24th which I wish I would've just kept him there Friday 21. But he's heart rate was slow and kidneys took a hit and his bladder started to expand because he couldn't pee. So they got him in started treatment. So we left and called them around 5pm to check on him they said they were able to get some urine out but it had mucus in it. So they were doing another catheter. About 5:40pm they called and said he wasn't going to make it. He had blood clots from care center poking him with all those catheters and since he never got antibiotics he's kidney infection spread fast. So we was left no choice but to put him down. These people don't care they all about money they don't work with people they don't have any type of payment plans or anything just want people to give them all their money at once before they do anything to your pet. I've also seen similar stories. These people are heartless and don't care about you or your pets they are just money hungry and show no type of compassion or sympathy towards people who have to struggle on getting money to pay for care. I also feel like they give people animals something before they leave their care so they don't make it afterwards. Because how can you force someone to sign a paper to pick up your animal and saying they can't be held responsible for your pet after they leave because you denied care. But people don't deny care people simply can't afford it and they know this. They are just evil people who just looking for a check. As long as it's not them they don't care what so ever. Overall we scrambled up almost $3000 to try and save him and he still dies after they lied and said he was doing fine until we wanted to pick him up. And they neutered him while experiencing a urinary obstruction. They should't have done that until the obstruction was cleared it even says that when you look it up online that a cat should not be neutered until the obstruction is cleared because it can put the cat in more stress and cause further damage and complications to the issue already happening on top of that they didn't even call and ask us if it was ok they just texted us with a update and said that they neutered him without even asking us first like they are required to before doing anything and especially since we was already going through a financial situation anyways to get him treated. read more

Funny only 2 people in an entire hour after we were there came in with animals with "critical" injuries. Guess what? My animals issue was critical also... The next day after being seen by his regular vet he was dehydrated and needing meds and follow up. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had dealing with a veterinary hospital. Very disorganized and most of the employees were honestly just not very productive in their jobs. There was a lot of extra talking and goofing off going on while only a couple of people seemed to be doing the work. We finally had to go pick him up at 10PM that night and he still hadn't been seen by a Dr. 11 hours after the first contact with care center. My dog was getting sick and throwing up blood. Since her vitals are stable "right now" and she doesn't need medicine like other dogs she doesn't need to be seen. We've been here for 2 and a half hours and nothing. Don't recommend this place. read more

From the minute we walked in, to the time we checked out, we were treated with incredible kindness, compassion, and an extremely high level of care. We were actually there 2 days in a row, and all of the above was true for both visits. The staff there are truly angels on Earth. I came to this place when my cat was quite ill. We had had her not yet 2 weeks and I knew something was wrong, but not sure what exactly. From the moment I walked in to the moment we left the building, everyone was WONDERFUL. The ladies at the front desk were extremely quick in triaging my little girl, polite in discussing paperwork. Someone came out to take my cat within 30 seconds of checking in (also keep in mind that it depends on how sick your animal is). They were compassionate when they had to tell us how sick she was, offering a range of cost for basic stabilization. About 20 min after taking her back the vet came out to talk with us directly. She was extremely caring, explained things well, and allowed us a chance to ask questions. Ultimately after working her up, it was going to be more money than we could spend on a cat. If you go to an emergency vet, expect to pay emergency prices like any human ER would also charge. We had to put our little girl down. Even with that step they were very accommodating, allowing us to be there and hold her as she passed. The vet was sensitive and let us go out the back door so we didn't have to go back out in the lobby. They have many options for cremation and walked us through all of it. I would highly recommend their emergency services. I would come here again. Side note: We paid $800 total for the ER visit, imaging, medications, and euthanasia. If you have an emergency with your pet that apparently is not extremely critical expect a 3 to 4 hour wait for your pet to be seen. Then expect that you probably won't get any service for a good 12 hours afterwards but you can always count on a bill just shy of $1,000. My dog was hit by a car and luckily he had no broken bones but a very big gash and open wound to his front left paw. I immediately took him to the Care Center in Cincinnati and they turned him away and said that he was stable enough even though he was bleeding profusely and that they would not be able to help him and turned me away and said the could not help me! They said he was not critical enough and turned me away.. Now any pet owner who is historical and in tears scared out of their mind for their pet to be turned away was devastating. Especially because I was so worried about infection. They said I had to go to the Dayton location which is almost an hour away from where I live. They didn't even offer to simply just put a bandage around the open wound which was the size of my fist. I decided to hell with it I'll go home and bandage him up as best I can, and take him in the morning to the Dayton facility. I have been here since 10 AM after I submitted their form online, they sent me a text message and said I could come in to be seen. I drove all the way up there and they told me while my dog is now limping cannot put pressure on his foot and it's swollen that they will take care of it and call me whenever he's ready. I left my dog there for 12 hours and it was 9:30 PM when they told me that they finally put him under sedation and I have another roughly 3 hours to wait for him. Due to the fact that I live so far away I sat outside in my car waiting for my dog. For a pet owner this was the worst most traumatic experience I have ever had in my life. read more

I would do zero but that's not an option. Went in the morning- sat 1 1/2 hour before they told me that my dogs heart rate was ok and they would text me... some people were waiting 24 hours to be seen?! I left and they text me 12 hours later and said they were ready to see my dog. Waited 30 minutes to be taken to a room to then wait another hour to be told that the wait could be even longer!! You text me and tell me to come and then make me wait .., literally maybe all night? Totally ridiculous ! My dog was never seen. Horrible customer service read more

Overheard her telling others on the telephone that it would be a 8-10 hour wait at 8PM on a Monday. There were only 2 other patients in the waiting room. Wasted precious time with our cat getting worse and needing oxygen treatment. Arrived at MedVet in 20 minutes and the vet tech took our cat in straightaway and put her on an oxygen treatment until the veterinarian could see her. Lesson learned, a new facility = no staff to provide necessary care for your family members. read more
