They only get one star because I can't do a zero. If you have a vet emergency, DO NOT go to Grady Veterinary. I took Spike on Saturday at 6PM. While I was explaining why we were there, the intake person started talking to someone else, about something else, in the middle of my explanation. Then I watched while people came in with a bowel obstruction and other stuff, and ended up sitting in the waiting room. I saw them triage ONE patient, and those people specifically had to request it. They tell everyone there's a 1.5-2 hour wait, even those who have already been waiting that long. The seats are incredibly uncomfortable, there is no water or anything... We left after an hour and a half. They finally called me at 12 AM SUNDAY to say they had a spot for me. And that's just to get you in a room. Once there, you end up waiting even longer. I know this from past experience with them as my primary vet. I ended up taking Spike to another. Emergency Vet, that was much better, and he was jaundiced and his blood work was all off... He was very sick and Grady didn't do any kind of intake exam, and did not even get to me until six hours after we arrived. Do NOT go to GRADY. read more

This place is caring, professional, and so very clean, Dr. Ward was our dog's surgeon and he was great. I fell he truly saved our dog's life after he was diagnosed with oral melanoma. I created a Yelp account specifically to leave this review. This business has some of the most unprofessional and inconsiderate staff I have ever encountered in the animal industry. My pet had to be hospitalized for an emergency visit, and when I came to pick him up after two days, they had lost part of his files, forcing me to return later the same day. I live an hour away, so this was extremely inconvenient and stressful. Their staff seemed dismissive and disorganized, and the lack of communication only added to the frustration of an already worrying situation. Having dealt with hundreds of similar businesses, I can confidently say this is far below the standard I expect from any reputable animal care provider. After our vet referred us here in an emergency last night, we called ahead only to be turned away without reason. The woman who answered the phone redirected us to places we had specifically said we did not want to go. Our Frenchie had a prolapse -- a condition that does not require surgery, but does require immediate attention. Instead of helping, this 24-hour animal hospital refused to treat our dog, forcing us to drive significantly farther to the next emergency hospital. Thankfully, they treated us wonderfully. But for a facility that advertises 24-hour care, to be unwilling to help in a genuine emergency is beyond disappointing -- it's unacceptable. I am disgusted. read more

The care my cat and I received was over and above expectations. My boy saw Dr. McElravy about a year and a half ago for persistent vomiting. After diagnostics and biopsy, we found out he has small-cell lymphoma. Dr. McElravy and her team are outstanding, empathetic and kind. We need more people like them in this field. My beloved dog was missed diagnosed by my regular vet after spending over $1.500 plus 200+ for special food 2 weeks earlier. We woke up one day and saw that he was very lethargic, couldn't walk, and pure white gums. We took him to Gradys Animal Hospital to learn that he had spleen cancer and that his spleen burst. Dr. Shea was a Blessing! she was very thorough and very empathetic. She spent A LOT of time explaining our options and just being there to answer all questions. Our wonderful boy ended up passing and she gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye to the best dog EVER! We were there for hours before he passed, and never felt rushed. They sent a very thoughtful card afterwards. That he had to pass, I'm just glad we were with Dr. Shea and staff. read more

Our experience at Grady's was not only the worst veterinary experience of our lives, it was the worst customer experience we have ever had with any business. There is not enough space to list all of the things that went wrong with Grady's so we are actually launching a website/blog to detail what happened, and to ensure that Grady's can never do this to another unsuspecting pet owner in the Cincinnati area ever again. The TL:DR is that Grady's failed on every level, from intake to communication, price gouging, treatment blunders and last but definitely not least, customer service. They were the rudest, most clueless and most unprofessional people I have ever had to deal with. We thought our dog was going to die in their care. We are currently pursuing legal action for the damage Grady's caused in this situation. These people are straight from the pits of Hades. I can not understate just how bad our experience at this hospital was. Horrible customer service and will tell you anything to get a quick buck out of you especially if your having an emergency

I would strongly recommend anyone to think twice before visiting this clinic. I do not have anything against the vet. She is actually nice and kind to my pup. It's just the whole experience that made it... meh. So I woke up at 8 am on Sunday, and I had a sudden realization that i left a tomcat poison in the basement, and my puppy was in the basement on Tuesday. When I confirmed that it's gone, I started freaking out since he ate poison!! ( That's totally on me. I should have remembered it's there, and he is not allowed in the basement...) Started Googling, and they were saying I needed to take him to the vet immediately and that he would need vitamin K treatment to counter the poison. So I panicked and called the first vet on Google which is open. I spoke to the receptionist and told her what happened. And she told me it's too late for treatment since it's been 5 days and he's going to die. But I need to take him in for blood work. I asked her again if there's anything I could do to save him, and she told me again he was going to die. There is nothing that can be done, and I need to take him in for blood work to see how much poison is in his blood. So I rushed him there, practically crying my eyes out at that point. He is only 9 months old. He's just a baby, and it's all my fault he's going to die.. but part of me still held hopes that maybe the doctor can save him... we go there. Filled up the form, waiting for about 30 minutes in the waiting room before we were brought to the examination room. We were in the examination room for over 2 hours waiting for the doctor to walk in. During that time, no one came and checked on us or took his measurements like what most vet does. The room was freezing, and my puppy was getting bored and restless. He started scratching the doors wanting out. When the vet came, she was nice and gentle with him. Took his temperature and even apologized to him. So, I honestly feel that the vet actually cares about my puppy. She told me there is nothing she can do to stop him from ingesting the poison at this point. Since it has been 5 days but he is fine, and recovery is high since the amount he consumed is minimal. So he can practically heal himself. If he doesn't show any symptoms within the next 2-3 days, then he is all cured. There won't be any damage on his health. So... over 3 hours wait and a ridiculous $126 just for office visit. For them to let me know he is fine and that he won't die. Don't get me wrong. I am glad that he is fine and that he is healthy. But I feel like all this would have been avoided if the receptionist had checked with the vet and told me that over the phone. Instead of telling me, my baby is going to die and getting me to come in just to pay for this ridiculous office visit price. For real... everyone else charges 30-60 for office visits. Who charges more than double for just an examination... It just feela like their receptionist pretty much tells you your baby will die, so you will come in and pay them a ridiculous amount for an examination... shouldn't they put the wellness of animals over money? read more

I am writing this update as my pup is in recovery from an emergency surgery. Saturday, mid-day, I could tell something was wrong. I rushed my standard poodle to Grady and explained to the receptionist what was happening. Before event asking my name, she yelled "can someone get this dog to triage??" They took Mack back immediately and THEN got my info. They were so kind, but honest about the fact that the sudden torsion he was experiencing could kill him, but that they would do their best to save him. They moved SO quickly. Everyone was working so hard and taking the matter so seriously. They made sure I understood the risks and cost and options. After a whirlwind of phone calls, papers, and hard decisions, my husband and I decided to pay for the surgery. Grady kept my pup for 2 nights and let us come visit whenever we wanted. They brought him to a private room and gave us so much time and space with our boy. I believe that this really brightened his spirits and helped him pull through. Grady staff were communicative throughout the process and were both personable and professional. I know that we got very lucky this weekend, as not all animals survive this type of incident, but I am feeling extremely grateful that my Macklin was in Grady's hands through it all. They saved his life. We are not out of the woods yet as there could be post-surgery complications, so I wanted to write my review without bias from the outcome. Zero stars if I could! If you want proper ethical care for your pets, stay away from this place! We gave our cat his "first" days worth of an antibiotic yesterday to help with his UTI. Prior to this medication, he was eating, drinking and acting totally fine. All night he was violently vomitting. I call them at 3am - and ask how am I supposed to give my cat another 6 days worth of this? He's not eating & his now getting so sick. They tell me just keep giving it to him anyway! There was no way I was doing that. To even suggest that, is obscene. I spent my entire day back & forth with our main vet to get our cat looked at. We find out, that Grady Animal Hospital had never looked at the notes sent from our vet because our vet had started him on a 14 day antibiotic (via syringe) on Thursday. I even told Grady this when I brought my cat in. Their negligence & to do further research on what to prescribe my cat could have left him with toxic levels while they chose to double dose him with an additional antibiotic he never needed. I don't even want to imagine what the outcome could have been had we followed their "instructions". Veterinary medical malpractice at its best! read more

Our border collie/black lab mix was having a siezure at 5:00am. We called and they said we could bring him in. This dog had never had any previous medical issues at 11 years old. After Dr Shea applied medication and performed multiple tests - Come to find he had a brain tumor. We had to lay him to rest the very next day. The staff could NOT have been more professional and COMPASSIONATE! They made a terrible situation as humane as any veterinarian facility I have ever been to in over my 50 years! **Cat owners, I HIGHLY suggest you avoid having Beth as your vet** The general staff was kind and friendly it was the vet we were stuck with that I had issues with. We were stuck with a much older redheaded woman who appeared to be in her late 50's early 60's (just checked the website I guess her name is Beth) and she was extremely unprofessional and rude. We took our 7 year old Siamese boy in for something as simple as IBS and she was impatient and aggressive from the get-go. She tried to imply that we needed to do all these expensive, invasive surgeries and to even keep him overnight at the hospital which would have costed us an arm and a leg. Every time we suggested something else or even slightly hinted that we thought what she was suggesting was a bad idea it's like she got angrier and pushier. She even had the nerve to comment "Well, this is what happens when you get pure-breeds" which was extremely rude and unprofessional thing to say to your customers/clients first of all, but completely irrelevant and ignorant because all 3 of them are rescues! :) After she brought him back to the room after his tests he seemed 5x more agitated and upset so I can only imagine how she handled him. She seemed like she just didn't have the patience for cats and outright disliked them which if that's the case she shouldn't be in this line of work but whatever (also saw on the website she only owns two labrador retrievers and no other animals so that checks out). That woman was a nightmare and I plan on complaining to corporate about her because now she's calling us trying to force us back in there by denying him his medicine until he's seen again. We had an emergency with one of our cats after hours on a weekend and ended up bringing him here. They took great care of him and were very thorough. They talked us through each of our care options, and we decided on the most aggressive course of action in hopes of a quicker resolution for our cat. This meant emergency surgery and 24/7 monitoring for several days. They allowed us to call and check on him whenever we wanted and to even come visit once a day. The only reason I didn't give a fifth star was because communication between staff isn't the greatest. We would get different timelines depending on which doctor we spoke to, and now it's over a week later and we still don't have one of the lab tests back. read more

Late last night, my kitten had an emergency situation and all of the staff members and vets were very considerate and wonderful to work with. They took great care of my kitten and in my opinion, saved her life! They were very attentive with giving me updates and made a scary situation so much easier. After 14 years together I had to put my dog to sleep. I called Grady and asked for an appointment. They said they did not take appts. but I would be seen asap. They got us in promptly and everyone was kind and sympathetic. When I was given the bill ( $338.13) , there was a $140.00 charge for not having an appt. I was never told there would be an additional charge for something I was told they did not make. I had to put a previous dog down two years ago and I was charged $65.00 for the exact same service. Shame on Grady management for taking advantage of pet owners at their lowest point emotionally. Two stars only for the considerate staff. read more

My puppy wasn't feeling well so I was advised by my regular vet to bring him here to Grady Hospital. They took us in the room quickly and started with their evaluation. They determined that he got into some kind of poison and started to treat him with blood transfusions and meds but his heart stopped and they were unable to revive him. I do believe they tried everything they could have. Everyone there was very kind, compassionate & professional. Before leaving they gave me his paw print on a card and a couple of days later I received a sympathy card from them, in the mail. I do recommend Grady for your fur babies. read more

i can't even rate this place because they let my Bella die. Just because she didn't have an emergency that you could see like a broken leg you could not see she was not as important as the other dogs. we had been waiting 6 hrs for service. i told them that she thrown up all over the house and made her drastically ill. what is wrong with these people. why couldn't they open her up? The wait here is ridiculous! I understand it is an emergency vet, but really?!?! When I got there tonight there was only one couple in the waiting room. A long while later, they called the couple back. A long later, I noticed the last it in the hallway with her pet still waiting to see the doctor. This was probably about an hour and a half after I got there. 2 different sets of people who came in after me left. Not long after they left, I left. I got there at 6 and here it is 9 pm and they called me and said a room was ready. Thankfully I did not answer the phone as I would have said unpleadant things. I've learned in my old age, it's best to just keep your mouth shut. I really have to find an emergency vet. To add, if the waiting room was full of people, I would totally get it. It wasn't. Even with one vet there, which I believe there is, why would it take over 3 hours to even get me in a room if there was only one dog ahead of mine? It is a blatant disregard for people's time. With 3 different sets of people leaving within 30 minutes of each other, they should really ask themselves what they can do to change! If you love your pets do not take them there. We lost our fur baby due to misdiagnosed in this place, they opened my baby for a surgery and needed to close her since the Dr was not able to operate in that location, tomorrow night started with another DR. After surgery our baby still showed all the symptoms she had as before. we wanted answer from internal medicine but she was refusing to talk to us. every time she referred us to Mr. Grady who is more of a business man than a concerned Vet . he had no answer for us. we moved my little dog to Medvet and they informed us that Gradys needed to do more tests before choosing other options. Medvet did a lot to save our baby, but unfortunately damage done by Gradys was beyond repair. aweful place. every time I visited my baby in Grady's hospital she was dirty and broke my hearth. I tried to find a vet closer to my house but decided to bring him back to Grady vet because they have 24 hour care . My cat had cystitis and the regular vet advised me to take him to an Emergency vet which I did. The one I found was 25 miles away . The doctor at that certain ER took care of my cat and prescribed antibiotics and a new brand of food. My cat now only eats Royal Canine and he seems to be doing well with it. I think we'll just stay with Grady . He's had good care there and they even do long term boarding. read more

Open 24 hours and there are many vets so if you need a second opinion or like variety for your pet's care, this is a nice place. We moved here after the vet we used for the last 13 years started to go downhill with service and care. So far it's been great care for our senior dog. The vets return calls, they have reasonable rates for visits and follow up visits, and the medications are easy to obtain either on site or over the internet. For emergencies, we have had very short wait times. Our dog had a bad cough and was struggling to breathe so we Came In after midnight and got care within 10 minutes of arriving . For scheduled appointments, we have had a good experience as well. They have two staff members along with the vet when measurements need to be taken and our dog is unhappy about being poked and prodded. The vets are happy to show us all the testing results and discuss differentials for possible causes for our dog's symptoms. We appreciate the openness. The boarding area in case your pet has to be hospitalized is very clean as well. read more

A big thumbs down. Took my cat there. He was very lethargic. His tongue hanging out. Just not acting like he was going to make it. They did take him right back and checked his heart and lungs which were ok and brought him back to us. Five hrs later we were still waiting to see a Dr. I questioned the wait and was told we were next only to find out they took a lady with her dog that had only been there about 2 hrs. When that was questioned we were told they call you based on the severity. Really? How severe could it have been if she had already been waiting 2 hrs and if they knew her animal was in more severe condition than mine why did they look at the charts and say we were next. Had a visit awhile back and was scolded for not telling them my sister's cat can get scared. Thing is he hadn't needed to be sedated the past few visits our parents took him. Also didn't help when they took over 45mins to call us back which the catnip had worn off completely by then. The lobby was practically empty and it sounded like staff was having a good social chat in the back the whole time. Don't even bother if you have an emergency or want to do a quick walk in for a concern. You'll be waiting literally (yes literally) hours just to be told you have to wait longer. Dr. Hogan is my regular vet at Grady Vet Hospital. She always provides informative details and gives suggestions during my visits. I always feel informed after leaving with my cat and never pressured for unnecessary procedures. I adopted my cat when he was 5 years old in September of 2018 and he was severely overweight (~20 lbs when he should weigh no more than 12 lbs). I have been taking him to Grady since the adoption. Each visit for his annual, Grady Vet has helped me through my cat's weight loss regimen and his overall health, shots, and other care. Most recently (on Tuesday 01/05) I took my cat in for his dental cleaning as discussed during the last annual visit with Dr. Hogan. Now that my cat is at a healthy weight and I had saved up funds, we felt it was safe to go ahead with the cleaning. The basic dental cleaning is ~$300. Unfortunately during the procedure, my cat had to have 4 extractions and Dr. Hogan called me to explain the situation and asked what I wanted to do. I felt her concern for my cat and went ahead with the extractions. When I picked up my cat, I was given detailed instructions on how to care for him with the medications and how his after surgery care should be that night. The total cost with prescriptions, extractions, and the cleaning was ~$900. Which after speaking with a family member and a couple coworkers, seems to be on par with what they paid for their pets extractions at other vets in KY and OH. The vets and vet techs are superb! I highly recommend this vet to everyone. read more

They get two stars only because they helped our dog a few years ago after she ingested chocolate. I tried to go there with my dog today because she hasn't been feeling well and having lots of vomiting and diarrhea, and I was worried she may hve a blockage or something that could turn into an emergency later. I called ahead to get an estimate and was told 1-2 hours for that time of day (9:00 am). I don't mind to wait, I understand there are people with appointments and other things going on, but the experience was one of the worst I've ever had. They took us to a room immediately, which was nice. The only person we saw in that room was the receptionist who led us back there. At no point during the more than 2 hours that we waited did anyone come in to check up on us, give us an update on when we'd be seen, nothing. It was freezing in that room and there is nothing but cold tile, a slatted bench, and a block of wood they use as an exam table for your pet to lay on. My poor dog wouldn't lay on the floor despite being obviously tired because it was so cold. When I sat down on the floor with her to try to get her to lay down and rest, she started shivering from how cold she was. Again, I understand that there was going to be a wait. I understand that there are people who have appointments and other things, but everything could have been better. Why wasn't there a blanket, or at the very least sterile paper on the exam table, for my dog to sit on? Why wasn't I updated on where I was in "line" to be seen? Why did my dog, who was heaving in the room as we waited, not receive any kind of care or attention despite my concerns being made? She's obviously going to be dehydrated - why did I hear the vet go into the room to offer one dog water, but mine didn't get that offer at all? I really don't want to give a poor review, but I just can't let this go. If your pet is sick, or honestly in the early stages of an emergency, there are better places to go and get your pet treated. had to come to the vet here on an emergency visit. My Pomeranian decided to trip my yorkie down the stairs. Never before have I had to use anyone but their normal vet. As soon as I got there at the front desk there was 3 very cheerful smiling women ready to check us in. My Yorkie was even thinking he could run around on 3 legs and all. There was nobody in there at the time. I had called ahead of time since I was given a couple different er vets my vet works with on an emergency basis. Grady had told me the wait would be about 1 1/2 hours if I were to come in now. Since I live about 45 min away I knew I had to get moving. My time waiting ended up being 5 hours. No good for a diabetic. I had to end up asking if I could go next door for food. They had us in and out of the room within 15 min. It was about 350.00 for a soft tissue tear. They were nice, not sure If I would go again. They did take many people before me and had I not already been in line I would have left. They could have had a customer for life if it were handled differently. read more

Thank you Grady Vet Hospital for giving my cat a second chance at life! My experience here was wonderful! I came home from work and my cat was screaming in pain. It was a Sunday so we could not go to his regular vet. This animal hospital was open so I filled out a questionnaire and took him here. Within 5-10 minutes of arriving, my cat was taken back to triage and, with our permission, given pain medication. He was unable to urinate due to a blockage and was at immediate risk of going into kidney failure if they did not sedate him to catheterize him and restore urinary flow. The staff was very thorough in explaining the procedure and acted quickly. I am a critical care nurse and the staff is very knowledgeable! They allowed me to call in to check on my cat. He spent 2 days in the hospital and he came home his usual happy and healthy self! The discharge instructions were clear and he was given adequate medications to reduce the risk of another blockage. We took our dog to Grady's for emergency care for bite wounds. After examining him, there wasn't much to explain other than exploratory surgery was needed on his neck wound and would shave around his wounds when he was stable. Our low estimate was $950. They asked for a $900 deposit. How's that a deposit? We left and didn't receive any updates. We called to check in every couple hours. Our last call was before bed because he was supposed to have surgery. A different vet said that he didn't need the surgery after all and said that she couldn't believe the other vet left for the day without informing us. Next morning, we call for an update. Our dog is outside eliminating and ate some chicken. We called back at 12 to be told that he can't discharge because he hasn't eaten?!? They also told us he had abnormal bloodwork that would be reviewed with us. We picked up our dog at 5pm. The bill was now $1125 even though he didn't have surgery. They reviewed suture care with us. He didn't have sutures. They brought him out to the lobby before going over lab results. His jaw and neck were very swollen and he started bleeding onto the floor. No one offered to help. We ended up leaving after waiting another 20-30 minutes for a vet. We called our vet to have him examine our dog to make sure he was going to make it. They sent us home with huge chewable meds. My dog couldn't even drink water due to the swelling. We had to crush his meds, hand feed him wet food, and syringe water into his mouth to keep him hydrated. None of this was covered in the after care instructions. Absolutely furious!!! read more
