Just had an AMAZING birthday dinner down from OC and first time in Alpine never expecting to find such fine Italian and authentic cuisine. We enjoyed delicious eggplant rotini, with delicate ricotta filling and light tomato sauce, exquisite artichoke hearts flash fried with a lemony herb sauce, fresh homemade pastas-- the lasagna was the epitome of fresh, classic comfort food, a beautiful house special of fettuccine frutti di mare -- and a twist that made us smile, a fresh, lightly seared ahi tuna atop a bed of shredded carrot & red cabbage! -- no surprise it's Italian family owned --haven't had this much fun dining out since our recent trip to NYC. My daughter and I had the most amazing lunch today. The bartender, Dana waited on us and was SO kind and accommodating. The food she recommended was spot on. The drinks were absolutely perfect. Service has usually been great. Food is also usually very good, sometimes a bit different than I'm used to, so I have found what I like and the prices on those items seem fair. The bar is complete, but has a bit of an odd feel with a cramped bar and odd combination of televisions, video games and odd seating in the larger area. Came here on Christmas Eve for dinner as we heard a lot of good things about this place. We got a table pretty quick but unfortunately that's where it ended. Recap: took two hours to eat here and they were not all that busy. They tried bringing us food we didn't order twice, drink refills were difficult to get, food arrived and was just ordinary. My ossobuco sauce tasted like it came from a jar. My moms salmon dish was good. Service was awful, sorry but Covid-19 had nothing to do with our lack of service. I don't know if I'll be back to see if this was a fluke but I as not impressed. read more

Food- Hands down was amazing. Fresh ingredients, hot appealing to the eye. Tased very good. We had the chicken Parmesan with pasta and the pear salad! My husband and I shared both. They were really nice and offered to split it for us. I thought that was really nice and they made it look nice as well. Service was ok- our waitress was nice, however she was the only one and it was Christmas Eve. We will try again and see if service is better, my ice tea was empty a few times and so was my water. Food was served hot though so I guess that is the main thing. We would be back we live far from this restaurant however we travel that way sometimes so we will try it again. Stopped here before concery at Viejas. Nice family business with great Italian dishes. I had the swordfish with great tasty potatoes, spinach and tomatoes. Wife had some sort of pasta dish with shrimp. Cocktails were interesting. She ordered the Italian Margarita and ended up giving it to me and her taking my guava mai tai. Service was very good by daughter and dad. Place really got packed after we arrived by what looked like a lot of the locals. So it depends on what you are going there for. If you are going out for a nice meal, you will be let down. At one time the food was excellent and the service was phenomenal but its nose dived since the add on of games. That's the other what you go there for scenario. If you are going for drinks and to play games, then the food is great. Yes it's the same food, but it fits the bar and game side more now then Dining out to eat there. read more

This was just an ok experience. First, we didn't have a reservation so we were sat in the sports bar area. Ok... next our waitress seemed very busy and wasn't extremely hospitable. Ok... then we shared the bruschetta. It was just alright. Not good enough for an Italian restaurant. It needed more olive oil and please salt your tomatoes! It was bland so I asked for olive oil and balsamic. The major faux pas came when my boyfriend's lasagna came out COLD. This is unacceptable. He didn't want to send it back, he's just too nice. The flavor was good but we could not get past it being cold. At an Italian restaurant! This just should never happen. My pizza was ok. Again, good flavor but soggy thin crust in the middle. We will give it another try but these are simple things a restaurant can improve on. Do better :) read more

I have been here once many years ago and I thought that is worth a visit again. I love to focus on the "good" first so here we go: We ordered Med wrap and Crespelle alla Fiorentina. The portions were large; the Med wrap consisted of grilled chicken and lettuce with their signature dressing. The order came with garlic fries which was very delicious. The Crespelle alla Fiorentina was prepared with house made crepes filled with spinach, ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese. The description mentioned béchamel so I had to look that up which was described on the internet as a rich white sauce made with milk infused with herbs and other flavorings. I like it and it was very satisfying. Now let us touch on the "opportunites": The food: the wrap was on the dry side so I would recommend asking for extra dressing so you can dip the wrap or add the dressing as you eat. The service: the place wasn't crowded so I am sure that the wait staff was multi-tasking. There was a sign at the entrance that states "Please wait to be seated". We waited and waited and waited and finally the lady behind the bar said "sit wherever you want". We were about to find a table ourselves but a gentleman said, no let me show me to your table. The server was the same lady behind the bar; I asked her what she can tell me about the Crespelle alla Fiorentina. She basically read the description on the menu, hmmmm. Cocktails are good. Beer selection will get you by but not amaze you. Wine people like the wine. Patio dining is good atmosphere and probably my favorite part. Bar and stage area is fun. Love when they have live music. Worthy of giving you their business, I just personally don't like their food and think it's kind of spendy as well. But the bread is bomb. read more

My sister and I stopped in for dinner here after visiting our parents' graves. We both grew up in Alpine. Back in the day--Alpine has only ONE restaurant. It only made burgers---not much else. We sat out on the patio and had dinner here last weekend. Their patio is protected by an elements curtain and has heaters. We were comfortable. Our waitress, "Angel", was the BEST part of our dinner here. Angel is kind, bright & gracious. Our meals were okay---some items better than just "good" but overall way overpriced for what was delivered to our table. Our busboy dropped off a bag with a few slices of cold bread in it. Their bread is nothing to crave. Just cold standard focaccia-like bread with little flavor. We shared a Caesar Salad. It was standard for a Caesar. Nothing remarkable. Our iced teas were delicious and refreshing. I ordered their Capellini Alla Checca. It was unlike any other Capellini Alla Checca we've ever tasted: very watery and swimming in what seems like chicken broth. Lacking in discernabl My sister LOVED her plate of Spaghetti Marinara. We ordered a second plateful (made with Penne noodles ---"to go" for my daughter. She HATES spaghetti noodles. Unfortunately, they just boxed her up a package of the noodles she hates. We didn't notice this fact until we got it home to her. Their food is ridiculously overpriced for what you get. I kid you not---they charged us $16 for each plate of their Spaghetti Marinara----the SAME price they charge for a plateful of Spaghetti with large homemade meatballs. We were given NO option to have the meatballs we were cheerfully charged for on the side. This place has amazing food and great people who works there. I'm more writing this review about the treatment our waitress had towards the bussers and food runners. Our server Angel was verbally harassing both of her bussers the entire time we ate dinner, in front of us where we could hear the entire thing. Very unprofessional and made us feel super awkward. Sunshine kept refilling our waters and brought us more bread when we asked. She was more attentive to us than Angel was, so unsure why there was such a huge attitude problem towards her. read more

Came here with my boyfriend and a friend. Had their bruschetta with prosciutto and linguine with seafood and it was DELICIOUS. I have no complaints whatsoever. Food was great. Wine was fantastic and service amazing. We met the owner John Paulo I believe and he was such a sweet guy. I asked for a wine recommendation because he is so knowledgeable and he gave our group a mini wine tasting with description and a little history of each. It was so nice! There's ultimately three sides to this place, one open room with fun old school arcade games and pool tables, one room that's more of just the bar, and then one more fancy, quiet and classier sides. I've been here several times as I live in town. The service is usually very good but the overall experience a hit or miss. Do not allow the hostess to seat you in the dining section on the far side of the bar. Twice now it has been so loud that you honestly can't hear the conversation at your own table. The Cadillac Margarita I ordered was horrible, very sour and didn't taste like a margarita at all. The food was good but took 45 mins to come out. Well I used to love this place but it always seems to be an issue "depending on who you talk to". Today, I called at 11:50am, knowing full well that they don't open until 12pm (which is ridiculous in itself because of all the lunch traffic they are missing) but apparently they can't even take my order until 12pm now. I've eaten here many times and the service is excellent, the food is good and very consistent. Last night I went out with a few friends for dinner and we sat out on the patio. There was a heater so we were nice and warm. We started with bruschetta for the appetizer and it was delicious. They have a full bar so all of us had something different from beer, to white and red wine, to cocktails. All of us were pleased with our drinks. They have a nice variety of food items and their pasta is made fresh. They are a Sicilian family owned restaurant so most of their meals are Sicilian inspired. They offer really good daily specials too. Their cheesecake is amazing. I prefer the traditional one but they also have another one with ricotta and chocolate chips. After we had dinner, we moved over to the bar side of the restaurant and they had a really good live band playing. They also have an outside area that has couches, a fire pit and if you're cold they have blankets! This is one of the best restaurants in Alpine and we love it! read more
