Met up with a couple of ladies for lunch at Mediterranean Kitchen in Burlingame. We were looking for a reasonably priced restaurant kind of between Santa Cruz and San Francisco and this came up as a reasonable choice for all of us. We got here at about 11 on a Sunday and didn't know what to expect, but, given the high rating on Yelp, we figured we couldn't go wrong. Yes, it was pretty good, but it was the service that made it a four star (would've actually been five stars if I was only rating service). This is a casual order-at-the counter dining establishment. They bring the food to your table when it's ready. I ordered the lamb wrap and it was good in flavor, but a bit on the dry side. It could've used a lot more tomato, cucumber, lettuce, and tahini sauce to make it moister or maybe the lamb shouldn't be cooked as long. Regardless, it was a bit dry for me. My dining companions said their choices were "good" too. The thing that made this a four star experience (pushing up to five, even) was the complimentary baklava and tea they brought us at the end of our meal! It was such a welcome surprise and so sweet! Not too many restaurants would do this! The baklava was a bit too sweet for me, but I just really appreciated the gesture and hospitality extended. We came here for first time and ordered two salads with chicken. It took them over 30 minutes to bring our food out (keeping in mind simple order). Everyone who came after us was getting their food. They apparently lost our "ticket" and paid no attention. Water also dispensed too slow, ice in the ice box half melted. Food was just ok. Not worth 50 dollars for bland salad with chicken. Great food and amazing service! We love Burlingame downtown and this is one of our favorite places to go for a no frill but delicious lunch! Also, a healthier choice if you are watching your diet!! Our usual orders are a Chicken Souvlaki plate, salads with added protein, and Turkish Tea. I keep reminding myself to try new things from their extensive menu but always end up getting my favorite Chicken Souvlaki plate! ;) The service is super friendly and fast. One of the best mediterranean restaurants in the area! I had a great experience here. Came here on an afternoon weekend which wasn't too busy. You order first and then grab a seat wherever. I like that they have plenty of seating options, whether indoor or outdoor. The restaurant itself was pleasant and inviting! I like that it's clean! The food here was quite delicious! The meat was very tender and juicy, not too chewy or firm. I enjoyed their Greek salad! It was so fresh. Also ordered their appetizer plate with different dip and I would high recommend! I went for lunch with my family and they gave us pita bread, hummus, Turkish coffee and Turkish Delights on the house to try. All the food was delicious. My go-to is the Beets and Greens salad with gyro meat. The ingredients are fresh and the dressing is light yet flavorful. They are generous with the portions of meat when you add it as an add-on. Let's start with the ambiance. Absolute 5 out of 5. The restaurant is bright, airy, filled with greenery and is clean. Service? Can I say 6 out of 5? The staff is so friendly and attentive and it comes across as genuine. We also got a little Turkish tea and desserts at the end of the meal. Perfect way to end it! The food? So delicious and portion sizes are huge. We also got a pita sampler plate before our food came out with three dips/spreads on a plate. Honestly not sure exactly what they were but my goodness they were DELICIOUS. I cleared them with a fork once the pita were gone. We came with the kids and they enjoyed their food and the TVs that had cool videos about Earth and the ocean. Held their attention and it was really educational too. This place has improved, I think. Had a forgettable moment here, years ago, but went this past weekend-- and it was fabulous. The front patio decor is such a Mediterranean vibe that it transports you there before you even get to the counter to order your food. I loved the food at this place. We ordered the Hummus Chicken Gyro and Hummus Lamb and Beef Gyros. Both of them tasted pretty good. There was a good amount of protein and Hummus in these bowls. We also ordered the Adana plate as well. It is a must for kebab lovers. I loved the Adana kebab and the lavash bread that comes with it. We also ordered the Greek fries. They were okayish. Was craving Mediterranean food so decided to go to Mediterranean Kitchen! (Also, will note that I've had this spot on one of my Yelp lists for a while now so it was great to finally visit!) There were a lot of open tables inside, but the outside seating was super cute as well so we settled on one of those tables. I love that you can either order at the counter or find a table and use the QR to order straight from your seat with your phone. Service was very quick - I don't think we waited very long for our food at all! I ordered the Chicken Gyro Plate, my husband ordered the Lamb and Beef Gyro Plate, and my friend ordered a salad with salmon. We all decided to get Baba Ghanoush, Falafel, and French Fries for the table to share. Everything was delicious and serving sizes were generous for the price. My favorites were the Baba Ghanoush and Falafel! The Falafel perfectly crispy on the outside and so soft and fluffy on the inside when it was fresh - definitely best eaten when it's first served hot. Came for an early weekday dinner pickup and there was no line around 4:30PM. They told us the food would take about 10-15 minutes, but I feel like it came out in 5 minutes. The menu on the wall is huge, which made it super easy to review -- loved that. Staff was very friendly. Restaurant looked clean. There's both indoor and outdoor seating. It's kind of like a mix of fancy casual. Fancy enough for a date or group meal spot, but casual enough for families and drop ins. Everything we ordered was tasty, fresh, and the pita was fluffy. I really liked the thinly cut meat. It was cooked well, flavorful, and not greasy. I will definitely be back for hummus bowls. I love a good giant bowl of hummus with yummy toppings. I would caution about the lentil soup. It's tummy, but spicy. Considering most other dishes are non-spicy, this one caught me by surprise. Awesome restaurant with plenty of seating, indoors and outdoors. The color schemes and decor were beautiful and very akin to those I experienced in Chicago's Greek Town. For my main dish, I had the Mixed Grill Combo Plate just to try all the meats and it did not disappoint. The grilled chicken was very tender, moist, and flavorful and I especially enjoyed it with the a splash of olive oil. I enjoyed my Kofta patty as well, with alot of the plate's lamb flavors really shined through. Also appreciated that it was a well balanced meal because the meat came with hummus, pita bread, rice, and salad. It did not feel heavy at all, and I scarfed down the whole plate. Accidentally found this little gem after walking out of a close by restaurant. The sidewalk dining was the first attraction. The dining area was laid back and the food looked great. We ordered at the counter and we're given a table number. The awesome server brought us our food in no time. My coworker and I each had the gyros combo (chicken and lamb) with rice, salad and pita. Everything was absolutely delicious. We felt welcomed and continued our table talk well past our meals. The server then brought us some baklava on the house and we talked even longer. Then the server brought us some tea, also on the house. He was a great server to begin with but the hospitality he gave us made us want to go back. Also got their fried cheese rolls because I'm a big fan of sigara boreli, esp. when it is served with a side of more tzatziki sauce :) For dessert and to go, I got the kunefe. The gentlemen who waited on me was not only handsome was so sweet to bring me a small dessert appetizer with two sweets made of pistachios. It came in a cute little Turkish dish covered in evil eyes. I didn't plan on eating everything but it was all so good that I didn't have any leftovers. The tzatziki was my favorite; the labneh was so creamy and perfect-paired very nicely with the warm pita. Wow. We noticed this place a few weeks ago but it was packed so we went to the little Burmese joint around the corner and made a mental note to get back to this adorable little spot. First, I wasn't excited about having to order at the counter, I didn't realize they had the app ordering at the table. They have an extensive menu and some GF options (although I just took my digestive enzymes and had the gyros) but I knew what I wanted so the choice was easy. Dolmades Greek salad Gyros plate (lamb & beef) Everything was fresh (yes, I ate the pita bread and I don't care if you judge me) well seasoned and delicious. The salad was truly a meal in itself and for $10 worth every dime. We didn't get any grilled shrimp but I would do that next time. The DOLMADES! YES! Excellent, seasoned rice and the tzatziki was delicious. Now, the main event! The gyros meat was chopped and a bit crispy! HOW? The meat was accompanied with rice and a small salad and hummus (the smoothest ever). Just when we thought we couldn't love this place more, we asked one of the gentlemen (pictured here) what he was carrying and he said "Turkish tea" we made a mental note to try that next trip and behold...he came back with tea for two and baklava (yup...ate that too...Judge away!). I had a delicious lunch here. You order at the counter, then they bring the food to you. I had the Alexander - gyro meat over toasted/grilled pita squares, covered in a tomato sauce and a side of yogurt sauce. It was heavenly. My only wish is that the tomato sauce was warmer. I had to eat it really fast before the entire dish went cold. The chicken lemon soup was perfect, with lots of chicken. Service was prompt and nice.
