My mother in law took me here for dinner and it was fantastic! We were sat next to the historical tree which was extraordinary and amazing to look at. We got the tator tots with different sauces. Just be aware the tots come out piping HOT! There were 3 different sauces: wasabi aioli, BBQ, and cilantro aioli. To be honest the aiolis did not have strong tastes to them, they were good but I wouldn't say they WOWed us. For an entree I had the steak and it was delicious with the teeny fries. Mmmm. I enjoyed sour beer and that was amazing too. The service was really good. Our waiter was tending to a large group next to us and made sure we were taken care of.

This place has fell off. From waitress not being attentive. Overpriced food and Manager Joe not listening but have a reason before hand. This place is not the same. Out dated menu and tasteless food. Wish I can give no stars

Medici Menu (as of 2/23)

In town for a meeting and we wandered over from the 2 main hotels in the downtown area, next to the ISU campus. Very busy for a Wednesday night, a 45-minute wait would not have been out of the question had 2 seats at the bar not opened up as soon as we walked in. It's a unique restaurant with a huge Mulberry Tree, right smack dab in the middle of the dining area. Likewise, the furniture is all custom made from the owners farm up in Wisconsin. You'll need to read up on it's story in the menu! Specials abound for each night of the week, so I recommend starting there. The drinks are also rotating seasonally, with some interesting twists on classics and some improvised ones as well. The twist on an Old Fashioned, Nick's Bourbon Vacation is built on Bulleit Bourbon spiced with Angostura Bitters, Lemon Juice, a dash of simple syrup and lovingly adorned with a dolop of Blackberry Brandy and Blueberry apertif. For our meal we chose to share the Beer Can Chicken (how often do you see this on a menu?) that is 1/2 of a roasted chicken with a moderate glaze over a bed of homemade mashed potatoes and a plate of plentiful green beans. As an unique side, the fresh figs add a flavor burst that well accompanies the dish. Subbed in a side salad (the small was PLENTY big enough) for a few dollars more, otherwise you can enjoy what looked like some pretty tasty french fry straws. We really enjoyed the bar wait staff, the atmosphere of a college crowd (probably faculty and staff more than students) and the neat looking environment.

Short ribs with brussel sprouts. 5 stars.

This is the 3rd time I've reviewed this restaurant. And I guess the third time is the charm as I am giving them a 5 star rating this time!! The food was excellent as was their excellent customer service. I ordered the sea scallops with risotto. 5 stars! The scallops were perfectly seared with a fork tender texture. And the risotto was creamy and flavorful. Hubby ordered the short ribs and brussel sprouts. Yum! Gotta admit I ate most of his brussel sprouts... I couldn't help myself. I asked for our server's name to include him in this review but waited too long to write the review. And now his name escapes me. He was a young African American gentleman with a unique name. He was very pleasant and served us with professionalism, promptness, and a smile. We visited on January 14th at approximately 4:30-5:30pm. We sat in a booth next to the windows facing the main college strip. Nevertheless, thank you, young sir! We will be back... Maybe tonight as we are on our way to visit our Redbird!

My sister went to school at ISU and she wanted to meet me here after she'd dropped off some artwork for an upcoming show. This had been one of her favorite restaurants while living here and she loved the little downtown area. I was feeling indulgent and ordered the short rib and it was extravagant. I loved every bite. She got some kind of chicken dish and it was equally delicious. The ambiance is really something as well. I really can't wait to come back for another visit.

Don't understand all the hype. Food was just OK, sadly. Paid a lot for what ended up being an average-good meal. Been here a few times.

The sort of place you have your parents take you. Not really memorable, pricey average food but good atmosphere and decent drinks.

The food is great and the menu is not complex. Great for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Great beer selection along with great bartenders.

Fun place to eat with reasonably good food. I think it is a bit overpriced and caters to parents taking their kids out for a nice meal.

Far away enough from the craziness of the college campus and downtown bars but still not too far away. They have events and food trucks, so there's some good times to be had. A brewery that's located in a shopping plaza with a patio and indoor area. It's bigger than it looks. There's arcade games and even more tables upstairs. For sure anyone can find something fun. It's about $7 a pint. Last time I got the Show Me Your Stem. Good one. This is a pumpkin pie wheat. On the rim is graham crackers. The rest of the beers include IPAs as well as wheat beers in flavors such as blueberry and peach. For sure we could come here again. It's located on Empire Street in a shopping plaza. There's no food menu but usually there's a food truck.

We enjoyed all of our stops, but Keg Grove continued getting recommendations from locals. As a result, we had to stop by. And, in the end, Keg Grove WAS our favorite! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a kind warm welcome from the bartender. The space was also welcoming. It was wide open, clean, and spacious. My husband each got our own flights (see pictured). We loved all 8 of the beers that we got, but here were our 4 favorites: 1. #3 Malo Pina Colada Wheat, 2. #1 Holey Jeans Blueberry Wheat with a sugar rimmed glass, 3. #11 Love is Love Orange Guava Passionfruit Hard Seltzer, and 4. #7 Cornfuzed Corn Ale. There was not a bad beer and there were several more we would have loved to try. We ended up getting a 4 pack of the Hokey Jeans because the Malo was sold out. Prices are great, portions are reasonable, and presentation was solid. There was nothing to complain about and much to praise. We will definitely be back at Keg Grove the next time we are in town! Thanks for a great visit!

Emancipation is a brewery not a lot of people have heard of because it's not close to anything of course. Has a surprising amount of variety on tap and in cans to go. They may not have a whole lot but everything is full of flavor and quenches one's thirst. Even with it being a smaller brewery it still has quite a lot. It's got several of their own beers on tap along with a few others. There's also more cans in a refrigerator. Has the basics along with a few interesting ones. More than just the IPAs and the usual. It's about $7 a pint. The Farmer's Favorite is the IPA and is a pretty good medium one that's crisp and smooth. Has a few things to snack on here. It's about $3 for the Krack Mix. Basically like Chex Mix but it's made locally. They also will let you bring in stuff. Great place that's pretty hard to find the first time going here. It's located on N. 2500 East Rd. a few miles north of Fairbury surrounded by corn fields pretty much. They're closed Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
