recieved cpm machine 4/16/25, it quit working on 4/18/25. I have been trying for 25 hours to get the on call service person but they wont answer the phone. the one in austin answered the phone but cant fix it he emailed the managers etc, but noon has returned my call. i have called the insurance company and told them not to pay because they wont service the machine. I am looking at suing these people. there is no reason not to answer the phone. the on call tech should be available. i have left message after message to no avail/ horrible company read more

They bill you upfront for Medicare covered items and then are extremely slow to submit billing to Medicare. Good luck getting your money refunded once Medicare pays. read more

Had a service in September 2022, paid my bill in October. Received a second bill 16 months later in January 2024, because apparently the original claim was processed incorrectly. Billing department refused to acknowledge how ridiculous this was and wouldn't write the balance off. The worst of healthcare inanity.... in what other type of transaction are you allowed to change the bill 15 months after it's been paid.... yuck. read more

I was desperately in need of a pair of crutches, called just about every place in Austin, but i either found every place to be out of stock or to have turned their answering machine on early as it was close to 5 PM. Not only did the great staff here answer, confirm they had them, but they held a pair at at the front desk for me, they even unlocked the door for me when I arrived at 5:04, they checked me out quickly, adjusted the pair to my height and grip and made sure I was set up properly before helping me out the door. The sales rep delayed delivering a tens unit until the day after my insurance expired from turning 26- October 1, 2018. He flat out lied and said that this was already covered by insurance since I'd cleared my out of pocket max that year and wouldn't owe a dime. I asked him multiple times if this would be an issue since I no longer had insurance coverage on that day and he assured me the day he delivered did not matter because the order had already been cleared with my insurance. He made sure I put October 1 and not September 30 on the page I had to sign to receive the unit. I got a call December 3rd telling me I owed them $130 on that unit. I informed them that I was told something completely different, what happened, and that I wanted to return the unit since it was defective and shocking me.. making it absolutely useless. The girl I talked to said she would handle this and to keep the unit, that there was no need to return it.. also that I couldn't because it was past 30 days. Had I known I would be billed for this garbage, I would've requested a return immediately. Fast forward a year later, I get a phone call demanding I pay them $130 for this unit ($40 everywhere else and defective) or they're sending my bill to collections. They told me they ran my insurance and I hadn't met my deductible so I owed them for the unit.. funny how insurance I didn't have told you my deductible hadn't been met. They keep sending me bills to pay for this unit and I will dispute this until I die. I spoke to the sales manager - Beth I think- and she was the one that actually authorized them to process this unit. She did ABSOLUTELY nothing to resolve the issue, but called me plenty of times to set up purchase of another unit. Got another brace from my doctor and this got tacked onto that bill as well. These people are complete liars. You're better off getting your stuff online that being threatened by these crooks. read more

I originally chose Medical Express because of the Ben white location. Which has been closed for a year. My orders had that address and when I made the apt they failed to mention that it was closed and it would be at their north location. The man who attempted to help get my brace was very unprofessional and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I lost all confidence within 3 minutes into the apt. I was wearing scrubs and he insisted that I need to change or raise the legs to an uncomfortable height. The brace that was shown in my doctors office was nothing like the brace he showed me but he insisted it was the best one on the market. At this point I was so uncomfortable and no matter what brace I needed I was not going to get it from them. I am writing this review because as a female I do not wish anyone how I felt at this apt. I am not one to be bothered but there were things at this apt that should not be allowed and no one should be uncomfortable. I strongly advise you from going to this establishment. read more

Staff member Blanca persevered over four weeks to finally obtain specifications from my orthodonist for a knee brace that met Medicare requirements for coverage. And the person who fitted my brace, Scott, was thorough. Both were also supportive. read more

Needed a brace for drop foot after surgery. Hospital ordered it from Medical Express PSI. The cheap plastic brace is sold online by other suppliers for $38.75. MedEX charged $472.24. They also supplied a cotton sock for my foot. The charged $91.83 for that. Insurance refused to pay over inflated price. Med Ex was paid $186.00 for the cheap brace and $13.02 for the sock. And at that they made a nice profit, but it wasn't enough. They billed me the other $365.05. I paid $200.00 and contested the rest. Instead of offering mediation, they told me my balance was overdue. This company is a prime example of what is wrong with our medical system. read more

I'm a breast cancer survivor - and it is important to have a compression sleeve for the arm on the side that was affected by the cancer to prevent a condition called lymphadema. It's not like I always need to wear it, but in circumstances like flying where there's a change in altitude and compression, a sleeve is a must. Of course, dummy me - I forgot to take my sleeve with me while on my flight from California to Austin. So, we ended up locating a medical supply distributor that specializes in orthopedic appliances. We called and they were very accommodating. Tracy Nix was professional and efficent in measuring my arm and choosing the correct sleeve for my needs. I now have a sleeve to wear on the plane for my trip home. Thanks so much Tracy and Gae for being accommodating and taking care of me! read more

Not sure why this place is listed as closed, as it very apparent that it is open for business. Now onto my review....I came to the Shoal Creek office for a ankle brace. My experience was wonderful! I was fit for my brace and had my insurance coverage explained to me in a very clear and concise manner. I would recommend this place to everyone in need of DME or Orthotics. FYI-the copayments are a percentage based on the rates of your individual insurance that they have a contract with. There is nothing fraudulent about that. read more

You my friends are what is wrong with the American healthcare system. $257 for a brace that lists at a local pharmacy or Walmart for under $10. I received the bill after breaking my finger and having gone to the doctor where they sent me home with the brace. Big mistake. When I called to find out what their outrageous bill was about they were not only rude but threatening. I asked if I could return the product because in no way is it worth the price they are charging, they said no and if I refuse to pay it it is going into collections. Terrible business practice Price gouging both insurance companies and patients. I would be more than happy to pay a fair price for it so I hope that you see the review and we can settle this fairly. read more

Total rip off, they make money off of people who are injured and in urgent situations. Totally immoral. They won't tell you how much the device costs but make you sign a statement saying you will pay for it regardless. You then get a bill for 5 to 10 times the amount you could buy the exact same piece of equipment on Amazon for. Avoid like the plague! Really disgusting. read more

This place continues to harass me over a $11.24 copay which I paid at the time of service, via a credit card. After speaking with the A/R person (who was incredibly rude and inept) she said that this would be taken care of (I showed her my proof of payment). It wasn't taken care of, and I continue to receive letters threatening collections if I don't pay this amount. read more

I got a breast pump here through my insurance plan. It was a relatively simple process. I was able to talk through all of my options over the phone and then chose to pick up the breastpump at the North location (North or South options). I had several breast pumps to choose from and did a little research on Amazon before I chose one. I was happy to have a local option - otherwise I was going to have to get it through a national supplier who would ship it to me. The woman at Medical Express who helped me spent a lot more time with me than the National suppliers. I felt like they really cared about me, which sounds silly, but I felt rushed and as though I was a bother when I called the National suppliers that are contracted with my insurance. read more

I got a breast pump here that was billed through my insurance. I had several pumps to choose from and decided on an Ameda pump. Service was great and everything was explained to me before I picked up the breastpump. I am enjoying my new (free!) pump, at least as much as you can enjoy pumping. ;) read more

BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!! I had surgery in Dec 2009 and when I was released from the surgical center I was given 2 pieces of equipment to take home and work with during my recovery. Sometime during the first of 2010 I rec'd 2 invoices from this company for a fee of about 35.00. I called and left a message at the number provided on the invoice. No return call. I called my insurance co and they advised me that the had paid both claims submitted by this co. I rec'd 4 invoices on the same day the next month. I tried to call again and left another message stating that I spoke with my insurance co and they had paid their claims. Today, I rec'd a call from a collection agency trying to collect this set up fee. I told him the same story and advised him not to call me again regarding this issue. I Finally spoke with a manger in their Austin office, who proceeded to tell me that this was never filed with my insurance co, because the insurance companies do not pay set-up fees. At the time I was released from the surgical center the man that gave me the equipment said nothing about me being charged for him to deliver this equipment, nor did he mention it when he came to pick up the equipment. When this same man called to ask about the equipment, he told me that I was supposed to return it myself. This was rather large piece of equip that weighs about 40 -50 lbs, and I told him that since I had just had knee surgery, that I was not going to carry this piece of equip down 3 flights of stairs and load it into my car. He said that he would come pick it up when he was in the area. Also, when I spoke with him about picking up the equipment, I told him that I did not want to be charged a fee for him coming to pick it up. He advised me that I would not! In speaking with this manager she first stated that they do not invoice the insurance cos, because they do not pay set-up fees, then she said that had I spoken to her earlier, that she could have filed it with my ins co., but we were past the 92 day filing limitation. WHAT??? She just told me that they didn't file with the ins cos because they wouldn't pay, then she couldn't file because we were past the filing deadline!!! this is nothing more than a way for this company to gouge patients for fees that are not necessary. Also, she told me that they just started charging a set-up fee less than a year ago to try to recoup some of their expenses!!! read more

Their ramp is too steep to use if your disable There nice when you come in but they have a very bad attitude when their product doesn't wok in your home they threaten you they will charge you to pick up their wheelchair. I picked up a breastpump for my wife from MedEx. It was a really easy process. I coordinated everything with Aleks in the South Austin office, but chose to pick up the breast pump from the North Austin office because I live much closer. Aleks checked my wife's insurance benefits and told us which pumps were available through her insurance. We chose one and they set one aside for us at the North Austin office. Once the baby arrived I was able to go pick it up (our insurance didn't allow us to get it until the baby was born). My wife delivered at Seton main, so it was super easy to hop up to the North office before she even discharged from the hospital. Easy experience and nice to have a local alternative so we didn't have to do "mail order" from a supplier out of state. read more

---0! Horrible. Monica the customer service representative just THREATENED and HUNG up on me. I am in complete and total disbelief. She was very rude and unprofessional. I returned a phone call (phone call, not a message) and she said Maam.. you are being sent to collections today. I asked collections for what??? She said a past due invoice that we have sent out 6 times. I still had no clue what she was talking about. Then she explained and provided me with an incorrect address and I said, "Well that explains why I didn't get it... Can you tell me how to set up payment? Do you all just send people to collections without calling? She said, "if we called everyone that owed us money, we'd be on the phone all day". And we don't have time for that. Her smart remarks did not help the situation or the fact that I was being sent to collections. She said that she would email me a invoice and that I can make a payment online then hung up. I have called back numerous times (before 5pm ) and she has not answered nor have I received an email. I am so upset right now. I am going to call the doctor that works with this Medical Business and let him know how I am being treated so he can spare other patients the unprofessionalism. Yes, I am aware its Friday at almost 5 Monica and you probably want to go home but being rude and messing up someone's weekend is totally wrong and uncalled for. She is still not answering the phone nor have I received an email. This is so sad, I am so disgusted. read more
