I don't mind the price, and I don't mind the people, but the service we've had with Mediacom this past year has been really disappointing. We have had no problem with the digital TV, but out Internet has been terrible. It goes out daily (I don't exaggerate) and times out for up to half an hour, sometimes longer, at times. Early on in our service we had to have our modem replaced. While the people we talked to on the phone and our service person were all very nice, they seemed incredulous that the problem could be their modem and not our router. As it turned out, it was their modem. We paid around $80 for the first 12 months of service for digital TV and Prime HSI. The 13th, and final, month of our lease here, our cost raised to just over $100. This was expected because the bundle deals are only for the first year of service--however, I never knew what the cost would be raised to until the last bill came. We lived close to Drury University, and part of the problem with our Internet service may just be the neighborhood--I've never had problem's with Mediacom's internet at my dad's house in east Springfield. There were 4 people living in our house, and we had about 10 devices hooked up at once (not all being used at once). We never exceeded our data allowance though. My only advise: I do believe that Mediacom can be a reliable Internet provider from past experience, but it's painfully obvious that the quality fluctuates for the "wealthy" areas of town compared to the "poor" areas of town. I'll be shopping around more next time I move. read more

This is without a doubt the worst experience I've ever had with any "service provider". Ever. I started with them last July with just the internet, worked fine with no real issues. Then i had TV service installed in October, and it all went down hill from there. In the first week of having the TV service i had 3 technicians out to my house to fix the internet constantly dropping every 20 minutes along with all of the TVs. I have to restart all of my cable boxes, at least 2x a day at minimum. On one of my TVs it keeps coming up with a green screen, audio is out of sync, or just drop completely. They said it was my TV, but oddly enough i had the same TiVo system hooked up to it from Suddenlink and i never saw anything like that.......hmm strange. They would come out and "fix" the issue and by 9pm that same night it started over again. Since then they have been here at least once a month for the same reason. Every time i was forced to call customer service, while the people seem nice, none of them are on the same page. One person said WiFi was free, the next said it was $6 a month. Then another told me i could have a static ip for $12 a month, to be followed up by the next rep saying i can only get one if i have a business account. The final straw was the last time i went to the office and demanded new equipment, as i had been telling them the last 6 months. The rep assured me that a tech would be out to replace ALL of the equipment. While he got there the only thing he replaced was a single coax line, blamed my brand new Cisco router for the TiVos not working and left. With AT&T is a huge pain to deal with, at least their service actually works and when it doesn't they will do something about it and at least attempt to not insult the customer. If at all possible, avoid Mediacom like the plague. I would rather have nothing than Mediacom. read more

Today I'm so mad a Mediacom I called to set up arrangements to pay my past due bill witch was only $23 and I'm only going to be six days late on this, the lady I talked to was so rude to me and told me that even though I called to make arrangements that it still maybe turned off at midnight, this is the first time that I have ever called to to make arrangements these people are so hard to deal with also when the service wasn't working very good I had trouble with these people too, the wifi slows way down sometimes like they are throttling it as well before you get service with these people explore all of your options I won't even give them one star. read more

We are military family and have had Mediacom over 10 years and it's been nightmare after nightmare. Today they disconnected the our home instead of the neighbors. I called and explained that my husband is deployed and I need the internet for work and to speak with him. They said it will take 2-3 weeks to reconnect my house even though it was their mistake. They did not care that my daughter now can't talk to her father. It's shameful that I paid 140 a month for this. This was not the first time they did this. Has happened more than 15 times in the last 10 years. I officially canceled all services today. How can you treat anyone like this. My husband is deployed and you do this to my family. read more

Question for Mediacom...how is it that you will only come to repair your equipment M-F 8am-12pm. That's a four hour window that most every adult works. So, since I can't take off work to be available for your repairperson, I have to cancel my service. There should be an afternoon/weekend appointment available if you're going to offer service in any area. Also, your customer service/escalation dept is terrible. They only repeat themselves and offer no real solution. Very dissapointing. read more

I hate dealing with cable companies (or satellite, as had been the case for me for almost the past decade). As such, I was hesitant in making the trip to mediacom to get my cable boxes so that I could have more than static and accompanying white noise on my old tv screens. Things didn't improve once I walked into mediacom. I had serious reservations while standing in line because the gentleman in front of me was returning all his equipment and canceling his service. I tried to keep an open mind and just returned my attention to the episode of Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations (plus 1 for keeping me entertained with quality television, mediacom) and managed to do so until an associate was ready to help me. In any case, I was totally forced to eat crow given that my transaction was beyond pleasant. The guy who helped me was incredibly nice, informative, and only bordered on "hey let me sell you some magic beans" ever so slightly, i.e., he convinced me to get starz (I honestly am happy with the add-on too). He informed me of what I need to do with mediacom--if I wanted an HD box, a dvr, etc...--once the rest of my stuff is moved from my apartment in Chicago (along with my good tv, since I kindly left that with the boyfriend). This experience actually made me think, "I wouldn't mind coming back in here again and dealing with the mediacom employees," a sentiment that is quite telling from someone like myself who would prefer to handle every problem online if I can. In the grand scheme of things, having cable with Mediacom is the same thing as having cable with Sunflower in Lawrence, KS and similar to having satellite. There's nothing monumentally better about mediacom than other places. But Mediacom did impress me with their incredibly helpful, friendly customer service. The people on the phone don't care and say everything looks fine on their side. They have me go to the speed test site to check and it is 0.53mps! Sneaky price increases. My bill went up 30 dollars a month after my first year. When I asked customer service why, they said my first year discount is over (did not know that was part of my service). I then asked if this would be my bill going forward and was informed it would GO UP AGAIN after another year. So the same service will cost me almost double after being with this company for two years. Heck of a way to keep customers. Will not be using Mediacom in the future. read more

Terrible, slow internet that always messes up, goes down, buffers, etc. and now it goes down on Super Bowl weekend! We have 3 people living here who need constant, working, fast wifi - 2 of whom work from home. One of whom is a student taking mostly online courses. And they say it will take a week to fix. What am I supposed to do not being able to do my job for a week?!!! We have had regular outages with Mediacom..... very disappointing. If you're wanting an internet service provider that actually provides you internet 5 days out of the week then you should probably search for something else. But, if you're searching for an internet service that gives you half of the downloading capabilities that you pay for accompanied with spotty service, then you're in luck. If you pay for certain downloading speeds you can expect to to actually attain 40% of those speeds. Then, you can upgrade to double the original deal for an increase and obtain a 10% increase but only 25% or what you're actually paying for. If you enjoy disappointment and dissatisfaction then mediacom is the right pick for you. read more

New charges for equipment rental, after 3 years of service, even though equipment had been included in pricing, again with a lame explanation of price increase. All with a rude, condescending attitude. Suffice it to say that Mediacom has THE worst customer service, THE most rude and hateful representatives. I could go on and on about my most recent dealings, but will spare you. Since there is a monopoly on cable service in Springfield MO, you can feel stuck. I canceled Mediacom and chose a packaged Directv/AT&T internet, cheaper than what the new monthly charges were for internet alone with Mediacom. Customer service agents are rude rude and some are just plain nasty also I just payed our bill and because I didn't have my bill in front of me I had to pay with a representative and she was rude and it also seems that some don't even like their jobs. We just got their service as in today we got their service. We haven't even had it an entire day and it has been horrible. They cut all our personal cable lines and direct TV lines in the process of installing internet. They didn't simply disconnect them but cut every one of them. We just moved into our home and we're going to have direct TV out to connect our dish next week since all lines were existing now we have to pay to reinstall everything and mediacom says that's our problem that they can cut other companies and our personal lines and we are responsible to replace them. I originally planned to give Mediacom a good review because the Internet service has been great since I relocated to Springfield a month ago. Then I came here and saw nearly unanimous dissent from other reviewers who claim to have had issues with their customer service. So, I cautiously reserved judgment until I actually needed to call them for something, which happened yesterday. And guess what? They were great, and quickly handled my issue on a Sunday without complaint. The only reason I'm not rating them five stars is that the Internet does experience slowdowns during peak hours, but compared to other service providers, it's still wicked fast and ultra reliable. For the price, I'd recommend them every day of the week. read more

You will regret doing business with this company. Don't waste your time or money. Have not had solid internet for any 24 hour period . Every excuse in the book and each appointment a week apart . Every tech has a new solution and none work. Lots of excuses like last tech didn't do this , should have used different that, my favorite squirrel must have eaten the line .The most they communicate is the endless deluge of texts and calls to see if the problem fixed itself so they don't have to send anyone. This is what happens when the city delegates one service provider. You are stuck with garbage service and support. I am sure they spend more training time on de-escalation and talking over you than they do on tech support. They honestly deserve negative stars . I would laugh if I wasn't so frustrated. I've been paying around $45/month for basic cable and internet with Mediacom. Called to ask price for Internet only, quoted $35/month for 3mbps (3). She puts me on hold for 18 mins, comes back to say her manager said she can't give me that rate, if I drop the $10 cable special, the internet rate goes to $65. Sixty-five dollars a month for THREE mbps. That is ridiculous. I'd expect to maybe pay that if I lived in some Ozark Mountain "holler" near Taneyville, or if I was taking their 30 mbps service, but I live in south Springfield and I was getting rates for the bottom of the line service. I've learned this lesson repeatedly while Mediacom has been in Springfield. I stupidly keep coming back to them, somehow thinking they will change. My mistake. I give Mediacom 1 star for a bait and switch rate plan, and myself 1/2 star for giving them yet another chance to scam me again. Yikes. read more

Terrible product and service is not much better. We suffered with them for years with no other options to go to that wasn't sat service (which we did for TV but couldn't deal with on internet). Their internet service went out all the time and when it worked was slow even when we paid for higher end service. Even the service reps would tell us they refuse to upgrade the infrastructure in our area and that's why everything was so problematic all the time. Years later on AT&T Uverse and I'm still thrilled to finally have an alternative to go to.... sooo much better. read more

I unfortunately have been stuck with mediacom for some time. Their service constantly goes out and you have to call and get a service ticket which can be up to a week or more away just for them to come out and tell you " We can't find anything wrong,call us back if it happens again" REALLY ? ? And that is if they even show up. I had a scheduled appointment once that I had to miss work for, I sat here all afternoon and he never showed. I finally called them and he reported that he came by our house and rang the doorbell and no one would answer. I walked out my front door and rang the door bell so the representative on the phone could hear that I was home. She instructed the tech to turn around and come right back to my house as he claimed to have just left and only be a few blocks away. So I sat outside while on the phone with her as he sends in a message that he is standing in front of our house and the lights are off and no one is home. She double checks the address and I even give her directions to relay to him, he claims to be at that exact spot. She tells the tech she has been on the phone with me for the last ten minutes and knows he is not there and instructs him to return to the office. Do you know what I got for all of my troubles ? Another appointment and a $10.00 credit on my bill. They do not care about their customers, only their bottom line. Oh, and if you signed up for service, be sure and double check your bill at 11 months of service ! All of their prices are set on a yearly contract, and it will expire and the price will almost double without any notification to the customer. Plus, you have to pay that doubled amount in full before they will let you resign a new contract to lower your price ! Mediacom has the worst customer loyalty program that I have ever come across. I've used the company for over 9 years, and they keep upping their prices. The only way that they give any type of discount is if you are a new customer or if you want to sign up for one of their other services. All I need is their internet service; as it is all that is available with high speed capabilities in my area. Any other company that I've used has always rewarded their loyal and long-term clients. Nope, not Mediacom. They could care less. I would advice anyone that if there is another provider in their area to always go with the other rather than Mediacom. Mediacom does a bait and switch on your internet. The internet service itself is sketchy as I have had it for 18 months and have been given credits, however the internet does not come in well especially for streaming and I called them out on it but they refused to admit it. I still have issues right now. Lost internet connection for the weekend. They get you in at a low rate but when it comes time to renew, there is no more decent fees and they flat out tell you they don't care. Cannot believe this company takes all of your information including SSN, and can't give you an account number over the phone. We've had trouble with our local post office since we moved into our new house, and can't get a paper bill from them, and even though I can verify every single piece of information on my account, INCLUDING my social, they can't give me my account number to register online. One star because that's the lowest it will let me go. Worst service I've ever experienced with any internet provider. I pay for 50mbps and on a good day only get about 4. Have called mediacom on multiple occasions complaining about their service. They have sent technicians out on 5 separate occasions and every single one that comes out tells me about something the previous technician did wrong when "fixing" my internet. I had trouble with my internet I called the representative was great and happy to help scheduled a time for a technician to come out . the technician came out today after he was done he left we went to turn on our tv and had no picture we have dish network so I called and sort of explained what happened she was EXTREMELY Rude and hung up on me . then my husband called and the representative told my husband that it was our fault. They raise your price but they don't tell you, until you find out they tell you it's because you only have this discount for a year. Then I figured I might just as well disconnect/cancel it, then this process take a whole month, then they tell me I need to pay the late fee but they still don't tell you, until you return the remote. When I go home, I got another bill, says there's 170.10$ bill, but I disconnected before they mailed me this bill. How does that even happen? I seriously regret switching to mediacom. This has been the worst service, by far. We have both the cable tv and the internet through this horrible company. A day doesn't go by when we don't have some sort of issue. In fact, I don't remember a time when all of our services worked. Currently we are experiencing internet issues. We have always had to reset our modem a few times a week, but we have recently had very little internet service. We have talked to customer service 4 times, have had two service techs out and have a new modem. It still doesn't work correctly. I would never recommend this service. I think Mediacom is overpriced, they try to make you think youre getting a good deal in a bundle, but the internet and basic cable runs $106, but get very few actual TV stations that show new stuff, all the others are talk politics and old shows and music, which I don't use but a handful of stations from channel 2-12. but by dropping cable the bill is still going to be $91 plus tax. I would like to see them offer a certain amount of stations selected by the paying viewing they want for a set price along with the internet service. I feel they need to be more flexible in what they offer. read more
