I've had this company for three years and if there's a cloud in the sky or rain at all in 100% shuts down, no Internet no TV. Even if it's beautiful and sunny, it will go on and off constantly. Terrible all around. Even more so now that they went from TIVO to their own little cable box and made even "live TV" go through streaming. Internet is constantly out, meaning no laptop AND no TV. Numerous complaints to no avail; technician admits he can't fix it. Mediacom is absolute TRASH! I am paying 100+$ for a 1 gig internet speed with an upload of 50-60. When I try to stream, I get lag and buffering and when I did a speedtest recently it showed that I was receiving less than 1 mbps and another test showed 15 mbps out of 50-60 and the 3rd test showed 10 mbps out of 50-60. Every week it seems like I have to call them and then they have me unplug my internet and then it goes back to normal until the call ends and then it goes back to crap internet, and then I have to call them back for them to send out a tech, just for the tech to tell me everything is fine or to give me a new modem only for the new modem to be worse than the last modem I was using with even more lag and connection drops. I have been with them for a very long time it really sucks that in Springfield MO Mediacom has no competition because no one else in this area offers high speed internet other than AT&T's almighty 10 mbps of download and upload speed and I am sorry but 10mbps is not even enough to stream with 10mbps is complete trash. Mediacom offers you speeds you hardly even get to use, they try to tell you it's the weather, oh it's the wiring, oh it's the signal, oh it's the modem, whats next? Is it too hot outside? Is that going to be the next excuse? We need a better provider in Springfield for those who do not want to live in the stone age with criminal internet providers who over charge and underdeliver. The installer came to install my 87 year old grandmother's service. He was very degrading and made her cry due to the fact that she was confused and owned a fire stick not in use. He explained everything minimally and made her feel like an incompetent person and after he left, she cried. Luckily, my husband is here now fixing the mess they made and explaining things to my elderly gramz. DO NOT USE these people. Even the reps at the customer service center are rude. This place is more expensive than most competitors and the absolute rudest. He (they) were lucky I was not here when this happened. Please, if you consider using Mediacom for your elderly family, have someone there to supervise and ask questions and ensure they're treated with respect and that they thoroughly explained to on how to use it. Mediacom has the All-Time Worst Automated Voice Payment system I've ever had to deal with. It's moronically slow where it needs to be fast and perfunctorily fast when it needs to be slow. The automated voice *intentionally* gets snippy with you if you don't enter the required info fast enough ... and if even so much as a chair squeak or dog bark is audible on the line, the system takes this as an excuse to scrub all the info you've just laboriously spoon-fed it and announce that it's handing you off to a human being. Beyond that, the actual product is garbage anyway. Are the incessant outages and lag a feature? Or a bug? Over-priced. Slow. Robotically snippy. Not even slightly user-friendly. These are the terms I'd use to describe Mediacom. Currently investigating other options, but they're more than a little thin on the ground. Which may help explain why Mediacom behaves like a company that has no meaningful competition in the area. There simply isn't enough profanity in the English language to give 'em the earful they truly deserve. read more

We moved from out of state and I searched for internet providers before we moved. I seen nothing but horrible reviews but this really was the only option. Had medicom for 6 months now and it's been great. I haven't had any issues with customer service. I have been to the office very nice and helpful. I had a very lengthy talk by phone with a knowledgeable man when I signed up. I have used customer service via texting twice and very quick to reply and fix issues. Only one time was internet out in 6 months and I think it was the result of a brief power outage and I didn't know how to reset the router and it took just a few minutes for customer service to help me fix it read more

0 STARS. Avoid service , phone, cable and internet are all terrible. My WiFi has signal but if I attempt to connect it says no connection. I cannot do homework from my laptop , extremely unreliable service. WiFi works and then kicks you off and will not let you back on. Cable will go out at the exact same time for hours at a time. A tech comes out to look and will blame it on "building wiring " and say it is not a medicom issue. My landlord sent out our tech and they showed me the wiring, my building was just build it is brand new wiring it couldn't possibly be the issue. I was charged 80 dollars in the past and the problem was never fixed medicom finds excuses to why their service cuts out and never takes fault and remedies the issue. My biggest complaint is they refuse to reimburse me for the service I paid for but cannot get. It will take a week at the soonest to get a tech here so until than I have to relay on other places to do homework , and I'm paying for internet and cable that doesn't work ! I asked to not be charged and reimbursed and it took over an hour on the phone to be told the best they could do is give me back 3 weeks of reimbursement nothing more. If you call after 5 pm nobody answers so you are prompt to trouble shoot with the automated service but that doesn't qualify as calling in and notifying them your experiencing trouble. Ivy the supervisor admitted I couldn't get a tech for another week which makes 4 weeks of no service and medicom would only reimburse 3 weeks of service and I still have to pay half the fee for the tech to come out to look at the problem. I filed a complaint with the BBB . I don't understand how medicom expects you to pay for services they aren't giving you. I asked to be transferred to the dept that could Terminate my service and Ivy the customer service sup said I would have to wait for someone to call me back. We moved to our home in Oct 2022. They came in and hooked up our cable. Our cable goes in and out all the time. We have not had on demand for over a week and they told us yesterday it would be fixed in 24 hours. It was not. This time my husband called back they told him it would be 24 to 48 hours more. My husband also asked for pro.otiond because our bill shot up over 200.00. we are on a budget and this is terrible. We just have regular TV channels, internet and phone. No movie channels and we don't order any movies or things. They told my husband there are no promotions. We have had cable with them over 10 years and they think nothing if their current customers, I am very disappointed in Mediacom, their services and prices. read more

If I could give a lower rating I would. Mediacom is the absolute worst TV provider in our area. Their customer service is horrible, average wait to get an on site tech visit is a week minimum. Even then you can't be sure the appointment won't be canceled. My Internet is out for the third time in two weeks and unfortunately this is par for their service. More problems with Mediacom. Service is out, 24 hours after a tech was on site. It's probably a weather related issue, not tied to the house, but Mediacom won't admit to that. We scheduled yet another appointment, and yet again, it's 5 days until someone can get out to the house. She says that's all they have available, but a business account can have someone out in 4 hours. A business accounts costs twice what I am currently paying, for half of the bandwidth, but they are a higher priority. This is absurd. Don't let public utilities push you around! Request service credits, and don't let their Representatives direct the call. Be in charge, force them to work for you. Tell them that a 7 day turnaround for service calls is unacceptable. Hold them accountable. If you are making a reasonable request, and they don't acquiesce, talk to a supervisor. If enough people push back, they will be forced to change their business practices. read more

Absolute trash ISP. The only reason I'm using them is because AT&T only offers 10 mbps speed. Service is unreliable at best. I have to replace my modem every few months. They're telling me that the modem i have isn't theirs and it must be a third party one but i literally received it directly from their location because my other modem died. I went with the top plan and after 6 months they raised my bill to over $100. I called and told a representative that I was going to switch to a different company. They did not even try to work with me. I cancelled service and took my equipment back on September 28th. I still have not received the over $26 that I was owed for a refund. We are military family and have had Mediacom over 10 years and it's been nightmare after nightmare. Today they disconnected the our home instead of the neighbors. I called and explained that my husband is deployed and I need the internet for work and to speak with him. They said it will take 2-3 weeks to reconnect my house even though it was their mistake. They did not care that my daughter now can't talk to her father. It's shameful that I paid 140 a month for this. This was not the first time they did this. Question for Mediacom...how is it that you will only come to repair your equipment M-F 8am-12pm. That's a four hour window that most every adult works. So, since I can't take off work to be available for your repairperson, I have to cancel my service. There should be an afternoon/weekend appointment available if you're going to offer service in any area. Also, your customer service/escalation dept is terrible.
