Zero stars if I could! Mediacom is easily the most frustrating service I've ever used. For the 'premium' price they charge, you'd expect a stable connection, but it's the exact opposite. My internet drops constantly--sometimes five or six times a day--making it impossible to work from home or even stream a movie without it buffering or cutting out entirely. The pricing is outrageous and seems to climb every few months without any actual improvement in service quality. It feels like a total rip-off to pay top-tier rates for service that is bottom-tier in reliability. Every time I call, I get the same scripted 'restart your modem' advice that does nothing. If you have any other option in your area, take it. This service is a headache I wouldn't wish on anyone. read more

we signed up for this service after frontier raised their price to almost $300 we were told our 'bundle' would be $169. It has since (2+ yrs) risen to over $300 They said they would be back within the week of hook up, to bury the cable. During hookup I asked if they could use existing cable, but he said they had to install their own. While he was drilling yet another hole in my wall, he hit a stud and didn't stop til I told him, "you're hitting a stud!" The cable is STILL laying on top of driveway. Internet CONTINUOUSLY goes out, as so does TV. Been ongoing ever since we got service. When you call, you are on hold for a MINIMUM of 15 minutes. I could go on FOREVER about this place, but I'll just say "SAVE YOURSELF, and look somewhere else!" I think at this point, even an old school antenna would be more reliable. Mann I dont even know where to start,..... I choose on PURPOSE NOT to use their cable TV service ( I'm currently using DIRECTV STREAMING) BUT I could not get around using them for my internet and telephone provider because, I reside in the 55 Plus communtity of Sun City and the HOA's only allow MEDIACOM and FRONTIER for internet services in the community. We've just been with this company for a year and maybe 3 months and within that time I had to call 4 times regarding issues with the service. Each time Im on the phone with a customer service rep and/or technician for well over 90 minutes tell me to do the same thing over and over, just for them to tell me that they can't resolve the issue over the phone and a field technician has to be sent out!!!! Here's the kicker........ They cant get you a technician for a minimun of 4 days to a week!..when asked why so long of a wait, it was always due to COVID-19! My current situation they are saying its due to being short staffed...smdh! I called last Saturday when one of my TVs loss internet connection, tried to reconnect to the internet and it said that the PASSWORD was incorrect, now here I am AGAIN on the phone with a "CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERT" minimum of one hour verifying that Im using the correct password and "GUILDING" me to log in over and over and over again, just to...... YOU GOT IT.... They cant resolve the issue and now have to schedule a field technician to come out!...smdh!!! Now having a total of 4 operable televisions in the household only ONE actually worked with no problems, but as for the other 3 the system said that the password was incorrect. Let me remind you this was last saturday evening around 7pm. They couldnt get a field technician to come out until.....wait for it......WEDNESDAY between 8a-12p!!!! This is sooooo unexceptable and disrespectful to your paying customers...... it should NOT take no more that 24 hrs for a field technician to come out. Well after the visit from the technician everything is working properly, but he did inform me that the wifi extender is out of date and that was a contributing factor to the issue at hand, and to contact MEDIACOM to ship out new ones ASAP! otherwise I could have this issue again!...smh I told the tech..." Well let me get on ordering the wifi extenders today so I can get them hopefully by this saturday and you'll be back to install them in a week next wednesday! We laughted at how rediculous the timing is. AND wouldnt you know.....when I called customer service with my request of updated devices they told me that Id receive the device on SATURDAY and to install the devices would be next WEDNESDAY between 8a and 12p. My service install was cancelled the day of installation by Mediacom. They made me wait two extra days for internet and tv. When I called all I heard is "we are the only cable provider in your area". Then they disguised the local channel monthly charge when quoting a monthly price for service. Their tech guy was an independent contractor who couldn't figure out that my router wasn't working properly due to a wrong power cord. After setting up my termination of service they then tried to give me my loyalty monthly discount. Why did it take me leaving to receive the discount? Lastly when I tried to return the equipment to their one offices, there was a note on the door saying they were only open Monday and Friday. They failed to update the store hours online and I had to make multiple trips. Stay away! read more

I paid over two weeks ago to have it installed July 13, 2023. The next day it's going out. I did all I could do and finally called to be firstly up selled a package Including technical repairs because it doesn't come with the service. Secondly, when I said they only installed it the day before she told me I will be charged &49.95 for a technician to come FIX what ever the issue THEY installed the day before. UPDATE: Upgraded to Mediacom 1Gbps service to see if that would help - NOPE! It still has starts and stops. Sometimes I can run Speedtest and I'll see the high-speeds but often during the testing you'll also see the signal hiccup. I still can't hold a teleconference (let alone VTC!) for over ~10 minutes without a dropped call. I still can't stream to one TV (let alone two or three) without frozen screens. Reliability is still ridiculously bad. The service goes out often. Wish there was at least 5G cell sites in the area (or 4G!). The service is so bad I'm going to change to AT&T DSL and their MAX speed I can get to my house is 25Mbps. It'll be 40x slower than Mediacom but hopefully it'll 40x more reliable too m! I'm getting tired of driving to a local dog park just so I can get reliable cell service! I telecommute from there so often that my co-workers have suggested that maybe it's time for me to buy a dog! read more

Welp! Here goes a follow-up review. I still without internet since 12-26-22. When I contacted customer service, their representative basically said it could take 6 months until service is restored. I'll say it again 6 MONTHS! And the representative was rude about it. On top of all that, I am the only residence affected. How does that happen. I guess when you're the only one they don't give two rats about restoring your internet. I would have changed carriers however Mediacom is the only one available. read more

Last summer Mediacom salesmen Kevin Adair (Menifee CA) rang my doorbell to pitch me a promotion called "Switch and Save". The catch is when you sign up, just hand him over a bill from your current service provider which I did for a discount. I did so and made him put in in writing. That was last August, 2017. My husband and I signed up for media com last October when we move to Valley Center we had nothing but problems through January when one of their techs completely knocked out our cable and dropped our Wi-Fi to barely working, we then were waiting for 2 months to get a new line run and once that was done I was promised 2 months credit full bills the 1st month they took care of, the 2nd month I'm still waiting for 8 months later constantly not allowing me to pay my bill because I was told not to until it was taking care of because they can't credit if there's not a bill owed on. I call every month to get this fixed and every month the same failure I just spent another half an hour waiting on hold going through the situation with collections, only to be passed through to someone who's supposed to help me only to get disconnected after wasting a 1/2 an hour waiting for somebody to fix this. This is the worst company I've ever dealt with in regards to Internet service the do not take care of their customers they don't give a rip. I've called over 100 times, Took 3 months to get boxes and labels to return , cable boxes that were replaced. Then asked for replacement remote , only sent the wrong one, charged for shipping it. MediaCom is the absolute worst company in the world. We stayed with them for SIX years because our choices were so limited. What a mistake. For six years they lied to us, gave faulty equipment, constant outages etc. if you have any other choice, go with a different company. (They are currently charging us for an extra week. Why? The guy left wire clippings all over the place and didn't explain how to use the equipment. Recently, by bill went from 88 to 128. After they told me it was only promotional, I decided to upgrade so I can get football. I told the rep what I wanted and it included TiVO, so I can record. Yesterday the installer called telling me he was going to be late and yet again, they left stuff a mess. Today, come to find out they didn't include TiVO. This company sucks. The internet is the worst! Unreliable and the absolute the worst customer service. I am writing this review on behalf of my Mother that lives in Sun City/ Menifee and she has been trying to cancel service, but every time she calls they send her a bigger bill and blame her for the problem. My Mother as well as all of her neighbors live in that retirement community and Mediacom monopolized the business in that area and are overcharging and taking advantage of the elderly. I am thoroughly disgusted and plan to escalate this as far as I need to go. This has caused my Mom so much financial stress and mental anguish. Mediacom is the worst. We live in a 4 resident HOA. I looked out the door one day and there were two guys with orange wire stretched down the middle of our joint HOA back yard. I asked them what they were doing and they said they were laying wire from the street to a pole on the opposite end of the lawn. They were sticking their shovel in the grass a short depth and lifting it up while shoving the wire into the opening. I said we didn't want them to do that as we were going to plant trees in the future and didn't want to have to call Mediacom and ask where we could dig every time. They called their boss and he told them to leave, so they did. A couple weeks later I spotted another guy walking around our back yard. I asked him what he was doing. He was checking for access for a Mediacom line to be buried. I told him there was an access at the back fence and he agreed that is where he would put it. Two weeks passed and two guys came to the front door saying they had an order to bury a wire in our back yard. I asked them where and they indicated the middle. I said they weren't going to do it, so they left. Another week past and a guy in a suit was in our back yard. I confronted him. Once again he agreed it should be in the access at the back of the yard and about six inches deep. All was well. Two weeks later I looked out and saw a shovel handle sticking up in the middle of the yard. I went out and they had already buried the cable halfway through the yard....right down the middle. I ended up telling them to get off the property with a few choice words. The one worker got very mouthy with me and I threatened to call the police. They called their supervisor and he came out. He asked the one guy why they didn't put the cable back at the fence. He said the ground was too hard. I told them that was not my problem. Anyway, a lot more was said and they ended up pulling up the wire from the shallow trench and leaving. These guys are relentless and may be back again. Mediacom is rude and very aggressive. I am preparing for another battle very soon. I would never do business with them. I've also heard from our neighbor that their service is horrible. read more

If I could give mediacom 0 out of 5 I would. When we first got mediacom we had multiple issues daily. Multiple technicians came out and said that we would not have service during peak times because our area is not equipped for how many people are utilizing their service. They did state that they were working on fixing the issues. Then for a little while we maybe lost service once a day. Now we are back to having issues anytime we want to watch tv, or if someone is on the internet and someone else is watching tv the service goes down. I'm not really sure how they can continue to charge people when more often than not nothing works. Very frustrating and upsetting. Worst ISP I've ever had the displeasure of using. Some highlights of times they've screwed me over: -I was moving to a different part of town and needed them to come set up internet in the new place. I called ahead and they confirmed that they'd send someone out within the next 3 weeks. 3 weeks roll by, nothing. I call them again and they claim an appointment was never made, and blame ME for them not scheduling it. So I had to go another 3 weeks without internet while they took their sweet time. -I cancelled my internet in the place I would no longer be living. They confirmed on the phone that my account was cancelled. (I made sure to do it before my billing period was over). Fast forward a couple months when I receive a notice from a debt collection agency. Turns out Mediacom decided to wait around for over a month after telling me I had successfully canceled my account, to actually cancel it. So they billed me for a full month of internet at a house I was no longer living at. On top of their general incompetence and horrible customer service, their Internet is disgustingly overpriced and slower than advertised. I cannot wait for Google Fiber to come to my area. I hope once they have some real competition, they'll either change their ways, or go out of business. I'm eagerly awaiting to dance on Mediacom's grave. read more

This company failed miserably to provide commercial services for one of our clients. After six months, MediaCom still has not completed this task. Their communication has been atrocious - when they say they'll call, they don't. We have had to chase them every week (I have the notes to prove it). Even with all these calls, not once have we heard from our pseudo-sales rep, Angie. We are tired of trying to establish services with them so we have decided to cancel it completely and keep the client with AT&T. This company likes to play games with their customers. Paying $90 just for junk internet that goes out every single day. Of course they want you to unplug your modem. Not a solution for everyday especially when half the time that doesn't fix it. So schedule a service appointment and they say the technician will call 15 minutes ahead. I myself have been in service for 15 years. That's for the customers convenience not as a reason for the tech to bail. First day my phone didn't ring for whatever reason and second day they texted and because I didn't reply to the text immediately they said my appointment was again canceled. I have had problems with the internet turning off and on ever since I decided to get their service. If you have Ring (doorbell) you count on internet working 24/7. Especially while you sleep. Working from home makes it frustrating and tough when signal completely drops. The TV/cable internet seems to have outages at least twice a week lately. I think it's time for me to search for new services. When I was bamboozled into trying this service I was told that this was going to be great because the cables run directly from their office here in Sun City lol! I recommend bypassing this service. When I call customer services they don't know Jack S! They tell me they will call me when it's back up and running:/ Don't you think I'd know that if and when it turns back on? I was very reluctant to try Mediacom due to all the bad reviews, however I was so fed up with Frontier FIOS and all their BS I had to give it a try. First the best part, they have a local office you can go speak to a rep face to face. This is a game changer for me, I don't like the phone menu hell of Frontier. Next the installer came at the time promised, was friendly, knowledgeable and took about 35 minutes. I paid him and I was up and running perfectly. I should mention that I am using their internet only so I can't speak of their phone or TV service. I have joined the ranks of the "cord cutters" and now for $39.00 per month I have internet to watch all the streaming content on TV I want and use my Google Voice VOIP landline phone for free. read more

During a storm last week, the cable cord was torn from the pole in my alley. I told MEdiacom about it within 3 minutes of the occurrence. It is now day 8 and it still hadn't been fixed. I have talked to customer service almost every day. They have NO information beyond 7-10 days since customer service doesn't have access to maintenance orders. How does a technology company have such poor technical service that: 1) They can't fix a fallen cord in under 2 weeks 2) A customer cannot get any type of accurate information on when it will be repaired Mediacom had better hope an alternative way of getting internet to rural Illinois never appears or they'll have a mass exodus based on their service department alone. read more

I've been with Mediacom for quite some time 9 years. The one feature that I really liked, enjoyed, needed is the caller ID. After the outage last month, it has not worked at all. Mediacom has put me on the back burner for so long until they finally admitted that the problem was beyond their control they can't make it work. Meanwhile the bill is the same enormous rate. AVOID THIS COMPANY 0 STARS I requested internet service from this company on 07/01/2021 I was asked to pay upfront for the service that would be on Saturday 10 July 2021 between 1 - 5 pm. Technician called me at 10:02 am to tell me that he was in the area and could he come and do the job. Unfortunately, I could not be there in 15-20 minutes as he requested, and I told him I could be at the property @ noon. At 11:11 am he called again and told me that he would not be able to do the job as he had to dig a trench and asked me to reschedule. I told him that I did not want to reschedule, I asked that he wait to take back the equipment that they had delivered the day before, I was 15 min away when I got there he had already left. I called the company and told them I would like to cancel the service and requested labels to return the equipment as they would not refund me until they receive the equipment. I have been given the round around with the company and since Saturday I have them calling me to reschedule the appointment. They transfer me and then the call conveniently drops, twice this has happened and they have a call back # but don't bother to call except to try and reschedule. I wish I had checked the reviews before I called them but the seller and neighbors had MEDIACOM yet they needed to DIG a TRENCH?????? I do not want to continue with this Company as their customer service is 0 stars and I don't want to move forward knowing this. read more

Been a customer for a number of years, OK service with its share of random black outs on service, mostly internet failures although at times cable failed too, nothing horrible but you must know this. The phone customer service is much better, I repeat, much better than the front staff at the Sun City location, at least for the staff manning the desk on the date of this review. Rita and some other lady. The staff manning the office on the month of this review was, shall I say, less than accommodating and that would be a generous statement. The lack of knowledge, apathy and very poor customer service was really a slap in the face after years of service. Everybody talks about years of service, loyalty, etc, etc,,, it means nothing, nothing at all but I thought that I would mention it. Rita Rodriguez, the lady at the desk could not do a single transaction without making mistakes and giving misleading/false/erroneous information, the other lady had to constantly correct her and help her with her computer operation, unfortunately, the other lady's customer service was only a little better than Rita's, which it isnt a good thing.
