After touring Paisley Park, this was exactly the kind of lunch I was hoping to find. I ordered the Spicy Choice Kabob Plate, and it absolutely delivered. The grilled chicken and beef were tender, well-seasoned, and had a great char from the grill. Tucked in a little mall is a fantastic place for Mediterranean food, wow on the rich deep flavors, the grilled kababs were delicious in our bowls and plates. We had Falafel Wrap, Shrimp Kebab Skewer Plate, Shrimp Kebab Skewer Bowl, Chicken Kebab Bowl several came with Turkish Rice, which is out of this world delicious, and some chose fries. The fries are good also. The staff is excellent, very friendly and helps understand the menu if you have any questions. The owner/chef wondered around and made sure everyone was enjoying themselves. The seating area is very comfortable, and the decor is nice with the Mediterranean lamps/decore all around. I love Greek salads so we were driving through the area and decided to stop here. It wasn't quite what I was looking for. You order at the counter, grab a number, find a table and your food is brought to you. Despite that, I was so glad we stopped here. My salad was delicious. I got the large and it was a titch big but I managed to scarf it all down happily. I wish they would have served it with a piece of pita but as it happened, Husband's meal had ample pita so I stole some. I also stole a few fries which were crispy and yummy. Service was great. While I didn't think anything was mind blowing, the ingredients were fresh and had decent flavor. I like their fries a lot, they are very crispy and I love the sauce that comes with them. The staff were all friendly and did a good job running out the drinks and food to our table. We ordered two apps for the table - the humus and the grape leaves. The report on the hummus was that it was excellent! The grape leaves were OK but they are not my thing. For my main I ordered the gyro wrap - it was large and very good but a bit odd with the lettuce. The meat was tender and juicy. I got the chicken kebab plate, and it was fantastic (5/5). Everything (chicken, Turkish rice, hummus, pita, and salad) was great, and there was a ton of food, especially for the price! You order up at the front of the restaurant and fill your own drinks, but they get your food to you almost instantly (under two minutes) since they have most of it prepped. Wow, wow. This place exceeded my expectations. When you first walk in, you will notice two sections of seating. There is bar seating tables, and in the back there are some window and booth seating. The whole place is decorated with beautiful Turkish lamps and other decor. They play very relaxing nice music and I just love the ambience of the restaurant. The staff is friendly. The owner is super nice and will have conversations with the customers. We ordered a lamb shish kebab plate that says we'll feed 2 to 3 people and I think it's very accurate. My husband and I eat a lot and for two of us the plate was perfect amount of food. You get to pick a side with your plate and it comes with a variety of different things, such as salad , rice fries, and of course the shish kebabs. The food was outstanding. Everything taste so fresh and hot which indicates freshly made. The food came out relatively fast too. We didn't have to wait long. The lamb just melts in your mouth and their rice is flavored with butter. One of our favorite things is that they have these cold pressed extra-virgin olive oil on the table for you to dip the pita bread in. The whole experience was five out of five. When you walk in, it looks like a order-from-your-table kind of place, but they actually took orders at the register, which was a little chaotic with 4 groups trying to read menus and figure out who was ready. Looking for a go to Greek/gyro place in the SW Metro? THIS IS YOUR NEW FAVORITE! Its tucked away amidst a ton of restaurants in Chanhassen, but well worth exploring to find it. I've created a list of Greek places to try throughout the Twin Cities and this place came highly recommended. Surprise surprise - it has a PERFECT rating on Yelp. So... Twist my arm! I got the gyro lunch special (with fries) and on a tip asked for them to make it "spicy". The service was great and the space was really big (could get a big group of people together). They brought my gyro out really quickly and right away I could tell I was in for a treat. It just looked good. You know how you can tell sometimes that you are going to enjoy eating something? Well, I could. Lets start with the sandwich. It was killer. So good! The meat was super tender and the other toppings complimented it perfectly (onion/tomato). I will say I went ahead with the banana peppers, which I'm not used to, and I did end up picking them off. Not bad - just not for me. The real home run here was the sauce. The tzatziki was delicious. Absolutely brilliant. The "spice" was some red saucy addition to the tzatziki that added a little flavor, but not much in the way of heat. All in all, this is one of the best gyros I have ever had. We have eaten here many times. When we have eaten at the restaurant we love the decor and Turkish lamps. There is always parking even when it's busy. We tried getting takeout tonight and they forgot to give us fries. They called after we left but unfortunately my phone was on silent. Found this place online and decided to try it out. Nice location and welcoming ambience with ample menu options and readily available seating. Be sure to order when you arrive. Don't go sit down ( like we did ). They don't provide table service. The hot food (we ordered a meat sampler) was above average with a generous serving size but the salad was completely tasteless (tasted like they maybe just drizzled olive oil on it?) -this caused a 1 star deduction. But exceptional customer service might have saved this review... It didn't. Two young ladies were busy pretending to work, but generally doing not much of anything. This might be a result of the talent shortage, or bad training or inattentive management but they obviously didn't care much about who was coming, going, or staying to eat...they were more concerned about gossiping and looking at their phone. My wife and I were out and about Friday evening, so I used Yelp to find a restaurant in the Victoria, Excelsior, Chanhassen area and came across the Turkish Restaurant, Med Box Grill. The reviews were good and we both like Turkish and Greek food, so we decided to give it a try. Even though Med Box is located at the end of a strip mall, it was attractively decorated, yet casual. Med Box sounds like a first aid kit, but it was an excellent, family run restaurant. Go up to the bar and grab a menu, and come back to the bar to place your order (this was not very intuitive). You will receive a number and the food will be delivered to your table. (This method of half self-service/half waitered service is becoming more common, but how do you tip?) On to the food... The food was excellent! I had the lamb shish kabob plate ($26.95), which included three skewers of lamb kabobs; very flavorful "Turkish Rice" (flavored rice and pilaf); a decent size, better than average salad; hummus; pita bread; grilled tomatoes, and a stuffed grape leaf. This was a lot of food and all of it was excellent. My only quibble was that the lamb was rare instead of medium rare, but it was tender, flavorful, and not at all gamey. I did not feel the need to send it back for more cooking. My wife had the Doner Gyro plate ($17.95), with was identical to mine, except that it had very tender and excellent Gyro meat with Tzatziki sauce. She ate about half of the meal, and I got the leftovers for lunch the next day. Even reheated, the gyro was tender, which is often not the case. For dessert, we split the baklava, which was less dry than other versions (a good thing!) and a pretty good deal at $4.00. If you like baklava, I think you will really enjoy this version and I highly recommend it. When you order, there are bowls, wraps, and plates with your choice of protein. The quantity of meat varies, and so does what it includes, so be sure to look carefully. For example, the plates include hummus and pita bread, so you don't need a separate order of that, if you get it with your meal. Of course, you don't need it at all, if you don't like hummus! All of these come with either chicken, beef, gyros, falafel, or lamb, plus one combination "Feast for two." The owner took the time to visit each table and he was quite genuine. He really listened and was quite friendly. My only complaint is that Med Box is in Chanhassen and that I would like to see a Med Box 2 closer to the metro area because I would love to make return visits more often than I am in Chanhassen. It's hard to forget the restaurant next door to the amazing Prince mural, especially when you experience a fantastic meal. It's an interesting setup where you order at the counter and get a number for the table and they bring the food to you, even though you get the feel like it's a waitress type of restaurant. It still felt comfortable. I got to share the meal with my family enabling me to try all the things I wanted. We got the lentil soup, the 3 appetizer plate where I chose hummus, grape leaves, and baba ganoush to start. I also ordered the 2 person feast that included the steak shish kabob, gyro, and chicken shwarma, rice, and salad. We also got the spicy chicken wrap and the falafel wrap.
