great food, great vibes, great chef -- this is all you need in a restaurant. we started off with some scrumptious grape leaves which was an excellent beginning to the experience. but before we took a deep dive in the entree, we had fresh baklava which was a bit cold but the flavor was amazing. finally, the maqluba chicken, came delicately presented on the table. the chicken was filled with spices that remind you of hot and musty middle east. taking our taste buds through a wonderful tour of the region, the plate was presented with tasteful sliced potatoes and rice. as gratitude for dining in at the restaurant, we received complimentary coffee which was very grounded and had unique taste. overall my favorite restaurant in rochester. it stands out from the rest of rochesters restaurant scene, and it's a must try forsure.

Amazing food, and you could tell the owner cared about everybody in our group's orders. The food was authentic and definitely worth coming back for!

Clockwise from top left: tabbouleh, olives and peppers, baba ghanouj, hummus, and falafel.

We recently spent some time in Rochester and came across Middle East Restaurant. We tried the tabbouleh, baba ghanouj, hummus and falafel. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, but the food is fresh and authentic. The tabbouleh has the perfect balance of parsley, bulgar wheat, sweet onions, lemon juice and seasoning. The baba ghanouj has the right texture of mashed roasted eggplant and blend with garlic and seasonings. The hummus is big strain that the flavor is very rich and the texture is smooth and creamy. I am not a vegan, but eating food like this would cater to many vegans seeking very flavorful Middle Eastern cuisine. I lived in the Detroit metro area for many years and was exposed to excellent Middle Eastern food in Dearborn, which is home to the largest Arab-American population. The food at Middle East restaurant is definitely on par with that.

I'm amazed every time I come here. I come here very often and have send a tremendous amount of improvement in the food authenticity, friendly staff, and their work demeanor. They do a great job changing there meals/orders according to their customer specifications. I highly recommend the mixed grill meat combo if it's your first time because it has a variety of foods. Enjoy!

Ask the Community - Middle East Restaurant

I understand that they serve Middle Eastern/Arabic/Levantine dishes but from which country? Essentially, I am asking which country (or counties) the owner/chefs are from.

I ordered online and then went to pick up my order. Nupa is staffed by wonderful people!…read more The place is small. In terms of what it looks like, it could be the McDonald's of Greek food BUT the menu is filled with items made from fresh ingredients. The Calamari is lightly breaded and perfectly seasoned. We chose pita chips over pitas. For the additional side we chose hummus. The hummus was good but at the end of the huge meal, it was one of the things most leftover. The servings of each meal were incredibly generous. The Gyro was heaped with so much meat that I was so glad to have spent the $0.75 for extra tzaziki with the Gyro Platter. The Gyro comes with the option of adding a side with it for less than it would be if ordering a side separately, if you want grilled zucchini which had the BEST flavor! Also you could choose fries, rice, or a couple other options. The Gyro Platter comes with gyro meat and a second option. Then there are also 2 sides that you pick to go along with them. If you want additional gyro meat (OMG, most people won't be able to eat it in one sitting!) you can add it here for half the price of getting it just as a side I figured that we needed to try the Baklava. I got one piece for 2 people to share. Looking at the small piece, I probably would have ordered 2. But I am happy to have shared so I did not over-eat too much. After a few hours, the baklava insisted that I try it. The absolute GLORY that is GOOD baklava!!! It did not taste like sugary sweet corn syrup. It tasted like honey and nut and pastry... Everything the best baklava is!

The Lemon Chicken Soup was yummy, tart, but not a heavy base. Typical Greek salad was good. Gyro meat was good, not dry. Great value for the cost. Highly recommend!

I love Beirut. It has quickly became one of my favorite local spots…read more It's great for both sit-down and takeout. Their online ordering system is super easy to use, and ordering in person is just as smooth. The menu has such a good variety, everything from fresh salads to wraps and kebab plates. Honestly, everything I've tried has been so good. The garlic sauce is a must, it's incredible. My go-to is the shawarma unwrapped because you get a huge portion and can build it exactly how you want. The food is fantastic and the portions are very generous. The space is clean with plenty of seating, and the staff is amazing. They're so friendly and always make sure you have everything you need.

Lebanese food is just one of those foods that we can't live without. So while we were sad when "The Port" closed, we were excited to hear they were opening Beirut Street Food. Today we ordered their Kabob family meal. That comes with a lot of our favorites. The choice of 4 kabobs, we picked chicken and kafta, 2 vegetable kabobs, salad, their delicious lebanese rice, bread and the addictive toum. We added a few grape leaves and extra bread to snack with that toum. Those who know love bread and tourm. Everything was excellent! I have tried multiple times to make kafta at home and it never is as good as they make it. The chicken is always cooked perfectly. A nice char from the grill, and tender and juicy on the inside. The grape leaves a nice balance of sour from the leaves filled with savory rice and meat. So good. The vegetables were grilled perfectly. Not overly grilled, sweet with a little crisp. Everything was just as we remembered. They are now located in a strip mall with plenty of parking and a few seats inside. While the Sultan is not on their menu., they do have lots of other tasty options that we look forward to returning for.One of our favorite places!
