I ordered online and then went to pick up my order. Nupa is staffed by wonderful people! The place is small. In terms of what it looks like, it could be the McDonald's of Greek food BUT the menu is filled with items made from fresh ingredients. The Calamari is lightly breaded and perfectly seasoned. We chose pita chips over pitas. For the additional side we chose hummus. The hummus was good but at the end of the huge meal, it was one of the things most leftover. The servings of each meal were incredibly generous. The Gyro was heaped with so much meat that I was so glad to have spent the $0.75 for extra tzaziki with the Gyro Platter. The Gyro comes with the option of adding a side with it for less than it would be if ordering a side separately, if you want grilled zucchini which had the BEST flavor! Also you could choose fries, rice, or a couple other options. The Gyro Platter comes with gyro meat and a second option. Then there are also 2 sides that you pick to go along with them. If you want additional gyro meat (OMG, most people won't be able to eat it in one sitting!) you can add it here for half the price of getting it just as a side I figured that we needed to try the Baklava. I got one piece for 2 people to share. Looking at the small piece, I probably would have ordered 2. But I am happy to have shared so I did not over-eat too much. After a few hours, the baklava insisted that I try it. The absolute GLORY that is GOOD baklava!!! It did not taste like sugary sweet corn syrup. It tasted like honey and nut and pastry... Nice little greek spot. Convenient parking, not a ton of seating and it was busy during the lunch hour on Monday. Counter service, but quickly served as I ate in. The falafel appetizer was delicious and the tabouli salad was almost as good as Emily's Lebanese Deli's in Minneapolis --and that's saying a lot. Wow what a hidden gem in Rochester! We were visiting some friends and wanted a light meal afterwards and came across this place on Yelp. High ratings and lots of reviews, I can confirm that it lives up to it! The person at the front was so friendly and helpful, he explained all the popular dishes to us and what it all included. We weren't too hungry so we decided to split a starter and gyro meal with fries meal. They were so nice, since they knew we were sharing, they split our gyro pita in half and separated everything. Nupa is considered one of best restaurants. It's a fast casual place that serves up fresh food. You need to know what you want to order because it can be busy. While the service was good, I wish the people at the counter were more helpful in guiding people on the choices. Loved how fast the food came out. The calamari was good but a tad fishy, the sauce could be improved to have more flavor. The pita is excellent. We loved our dinner at Nupa and are looking forward to returning. The appetizer variety plate was so tasty. The pita was fresh, buttery, and soft. The steak kabob was cooked well with lean meat. It could have been seasoned more but it was still tasty. The salad was a lot more lettuce than typical Greek salads which can be heavy in tomatoes, cucumber and olives. When you look at this place from outside, you would see a Greek outlook but when you go inside, it's just very homely and a small space with a very active kitchen. The service was super fast and the food was pretty good for Rochester we ordered lamb and beef gyro and chicken kebab skewers both with salad and soup their house soup was amazing. This was my first time trying Mediterranean food and I was pleasantly surprised. The falafel was very good and though I took out the tomatoes everything else was great- especially the sauce.
