    Crab Rangoon's folded with love
    Ashley B.

I'd drink this egg drop soup from a shoe! It's that good. Who gets excited to take their parents to mayo?? Yup it's me...only because i get to come here and devour the egg drop soup, crab ragoons that seem to be folded with nothing but love and chicken lo mein I'd swim in a frozen lake for!

4/5 Staff was nice and food was pretty good. Restaurant was clean. This is a good choice for local Chinese food...

Waited over 20 min for anyone to come to our table. Once a waiter arrived he said, "I'm checking on you... do you need anything?" We said "we have waited for 20 min for water...perhaps? And no one has taken our order". He brought us water and walked away. We waited another 6 min. And then got up and left. WORST SERVICE EVER! Too bad. We are link g forward to good food, but never got to try it.

Excited to have some Hunan-style dishes in town. Staff was really attentive, space is situated in the heart of Miracle Mile, and a menu that leaves you asking for me. We came during the first week of opening, and ordered all the suggested dishes. Overall impression was it was solid. Many dishes were a bit salty which doesn't help with the already favorable punch. Look forward to re-visiting and trying other dishes

This place just open a month ago and I was totally surprised that the food was pretty good! The portions are huge especially the fried rice! The wait staff were very friendly and pleasant! We were there around 5 pm and too busy but by the time we left, the place was pack! We had the following: Salt and Pepper Shrimp (cooked perfectly with awesome spices) Spicy Dry-Pot Beef (spicy and very favorable) Eggplant with chili garlic sauce (great flavor and eggplant was very tender) Sautéed celery with dried Tofu (the tofu pieces were kinda hard and wasn't enough celery) Pork Fried Rice (the pork was very tasty and the rice was perfect texture) Beef Noodle stew with Soybean Sauce (the noodles were cooked perfectly, not too soft, great soup too) Very nice place to hang out with friends! If you're in the Rochester area, you need to try this place!

Super grateful to have come here when this place opened recently. Thank you again to our consultant who took us out to eat here!! Food - amazing!! Great selection of the core Chinese dishes including pork chops and potatoes in a great garlic sauce, an amazing soup that hit the spot, shrimp, egg tofu fried with vegetables and wood ear mushrooms, sweet and sour fish, beef chow fun, and more. Food wasn't too salty and has good variety. Service - Food came out quite quick. Highly recommend getting their coconut drink to sip on while waiting and chatting. They Ambiance - modern with East Asian influences in the art style and seating. Definitely the closest one can get to authentic Chinese cuisine here in Rochester without having to go up to the Twin Cities. Hope it stays around!! Definitely will be back.

Excited to welcome an authentic Chinese restaurant to Rochester!! The flavors are great, food is well cooked and most importantly, authentic! The staff was very nice and service speedy. Everything was decorated meticulously and we really enjoyed the experience. We will definitely be back!

Was looking for a place for a quick dinner after a business meeting in Rochester and I came across this chinese restaurant. The place well decorated with traditional Chinese decor and painting and contributed to a favorable ambience. I ordered a spicy Beef Noodle soup with a stir fry vegetable dish. Both entrees were good. The beef noodle was really spicy but truly authentic.

I always go to Sushi places, but they closed for July 4th so I give this place a try. Disappointed for the following reasons: Ordered ribs. The sauce flavor was fine (sweet and sour plus some garlic taste), but the meat quality was terrible. Not really rib, but meat scraps. Size was not matching the price they charged. I swear you are able to find something better at Rochester with this price. Fried rice had no flavor either. Atmosphere looked good, and waitress was polite, but I definitely do not plan on another visit. Going back to my sushi places.

Friendly service in a nicely decorated space. The lunch specials were plenty of food at a great price.

Great ambiance and food. They have a huge front room and table that seats 13. The food was great, but we didn't do spicy. Our favorite was the smashed cucumber salad. The fish dishes looked good.

Beef tips, sweet and sour chicken, beef Lo mein, red braised tofu, general tso

AMAZING! I am so picky about this kind of cuisine and this place is the best I have had so far. We got many dishes and they were all phenomenal. The beef lo mein had so much depth of flavor. The Rangoon's were a tiny bit sweet but not too sweet and also had flavor depth. We also had the red braised tofu (which had delicious bamboo root in it), beef tips, general tsos, and sweet and sour chicken. All delicious! The owner is incredibly sweet. It was our first time here. We had our three year old with us and the owner was so sweet to her. Very clean establishment. Highly recommend

Tonight was the first time with the new owner. I asked the wife to recommend a VERY flavorful dish. She recommended the garlic beef ( I wanted beef). It was outstanding and the BEST in Rochester. The seasoning was a 4.5 - - excellent blending of different spices creating a WONDERFULLY delicious light brown sauce, subtle garlic flavor, with Plenty of zucchini, broccoli, little green pepper, onions, mushrooms, bamboo shoots and I opted out of carrots/received more broccoli. Also rare in Chinese restaurants - - the dish was prepared with lots of sauce thus giving the dish even more flavor. Everything was very nicely chopped up in bite size pieces - - super piping hot! If the meat had first been deeply cooked in the brown sauce, and if the pork fried rice had a bit more soy sauce and flavor, I would have given them a Rochester "5". Over the years (25) I have tried a few other chinese restaurants here, and always come back to Great Wall. ( Grew up north of NYC and always ate in Chinatown.) The vegetables are always plentiful, varied fresh delicious. Portion of beef was also very good. EXCELLENT value and quality of ingredients. Restaurant has always been extremely well maintained and clean. It is worth driving over to get it so amazingly hot! Enjoy!!

Having Chinese food in Rochester is still foreign to me. I didn't order any when I was a resident. It's funny how I now have an interest returning as a visitor. I looked at the reviews and they were decent on Yelp. I decided to check out their online menu. One thing led to another. I ended up placing an order for pickup on New China's site. You don't pay through it, but you are prompted to create an account and specify your phone number. You order takes roughly 25 minutes to complete, which was more than enough time for me to shop at Five Below before picking up my order. Their food caters to both Americans who may feel intimidated by Chinese food and, surprisingly, to Chinese folks who want authentic food. My pain point was seeing cream cheese rangoons (wontons) on the menu. First, I can't see my ancestors taking out a rectangle of Philadelphia cream cheese to replace the traditional pork filling in wontons. Second, I find it gross seeing them on a Chinese eatery menu that I will not touch them if they were the last food item available on this planet. My rant is over. The menu item that gave me a glimmer of hope for some authentic Chinese cuisine was the shrimp with lobster sauce. I went for it. I drove over to the eatery after I was done shopping and parked steps away from it. The restaurant is next to a radio station blasting country music. There are stairs and a ramp for those who require accessibility help. You can dine in. I saw a couple eating when I walked in. Dining spaces looked limited. I was immediately greeted by a woman. There were four women in the kitchen literally cooking up a storm. I said my name and she found my order that was already packed. I asked if this place accepted credit cards. Yep, every credit card imaginable is accepted here. I paid and all was great. She handed me my food. I thanked her. She wasn't the friendliest. Come to think of it, they were probably more focused on cooking the food than being friendly. They were highly efficient, though. I drove an hour back to Eagan. My food was still hot when I got back to my hotel room. I was impressed. I got the following items: - Steamed dumplings with garlic soy sauce - Shrimp with lobster sauce on roasted pork fried rice - House special lo mein with roasted pork fried rice Each meal came with an egg roll. Everything was packed carefully. The egg rolls were yummy. They were crispy and packed full of filling. They were perfect. The steamed dumplings were authentic and delicious. They didn't have any fancy crimping. Each filling was packed full of flavourful pork filling. The garlic soy sauce worked well. I had roughly half of the two meals for dinner. Perhaps less than half because I ate all the dumplings. The shrimp with lobster sauce was so comforting. It reminded me of a Hong Kong-style dish where you know there's fried rice, but you can't see it because it's drenched in flavourful lobster sauce. The shrimp were perfectly done. I love barbequed pork in fried rice and it was fabulous. I liked the cubed carrots and pork, peas, onions, and more. I would get this dish again. It was delicious. The house lo mein was a winner. It had chicken, shrimp, barbequed pork, and veggies. The noodles were true lo mein ones. It was different having the lo mein paired with fried rice, but I didn't mind. It was such a carb-heavy, yummy meal. I had leftovers for lunch the following day. It was perfect staying in my hotel room working remotely and not having to think about what to get for lunch. The leftovers were equally as yummy a day later. It was a pleasant surprise taking a chance on New China and discovering that it offers authentic Chinese food. Just avoid the cream cheese appetizers. I'd return for more when I'm back in my old neighbourhood. (26)
