This is my favorite gym ever. I haven't been able to find a gym like Mecha that offers such a diverse array of classes that are very high quality. The classes are effective and challenging. The instructors are really positive, understanding, and are willing to make modifications. All of the classes offer something different and I loved doing a mix of cardio+, strength, resistance and release. The membership cost is worth the level of work out you get in each class and the incredible people. I'm sad that I can't attend this gym anymore due to moving. Scheduling on the app is easy. The only negative is that sometimes during busy hours parking at the boulder location can be challenging. I hope to go back to this gym occasionally. My favorite instructors are Natasha, Ryan, Raleigh, Bryan, Tess, Adria and Justin. read more

This re-review is long overdue. Since my last review this business has changed locations, added more diverse classes, and changed their name from BOCO to Mecha. The location is conveniently located on Spruce Street in Boulder. Aside form street parking there is also a small parking lot that traces the perimeter of the building. There's a welcome desk when you enter the door and an ipad attached to the wall where you can check yourself in (if you've reserved your space). There are two restrooms, and a set of lockers where you can place your belongings for safe keeping and set your own combination (no need to pack your own padlock for classes at this facility). Last night I took attended a fun HIIT class (high intensity interval training). It was loads of fun and I just adored the instructor, Pavanjeet. I was particularly interested to take this new offering with Pavanjeet as I had practiced Kundalini yoga with him at another local studio). Upon entering the studio Pavanjeet introduced himself to each attendee and inquired about their experience with Mecha and their offerings. This gave me a great opportunity to let him know about my current injuries and limitations. The class offered a variety of activities and movements which kept us engaged and on our toes. I was excited to try some new equipment (SkiErgs and Rope Trainers) and use some oldies but goodies such as the VersaClimers and Schwinn Airdyne. The room was dimly lit and the music was pumpin'! Kind of a club type feel. Don't get me wrong, you could totally see everyone and what you were doing, there just weren't blasting fluorescent lights glaring overhead. After class we all pitched in to wipe down the machines and our instructor handed out chilled tea tree infused cloths so we could freshen up before heading home. If I had been a tad hungrier heading out the door I totally would have purchased a snack or Wonder Press juice from the cooler. So awesome that they have locally made refreshments for purchase! I'm excited to come back and take advantage of their new client special (1 unlimited week for $20!). read more

Mecha in Louisville is SUCH a great place for effective and challenging workouts. The community of students and instructors is amazing - very positive, motivating, and FUN. Although all classes are really challenging, you will still feel successful as a newbie because of the small class sizes and the attention paid by the instructors to make sure you are comfortable and confident during the workout. I've been going to Mecha in Louisville for almost a year and am continuously impressed with the experience I have each time. Highly recommend to ppl who love challenging workouts, athletes looking to cross-train, previous athletes looking for a tribe of positive ppl who want to stay really fit, and those who want to strengthen or repair muscle imbalances. Students range from about ages 25 - 55, men and women but with women outnumbering the men about 8 to 1. read more

Great workout. It is expensive, but I'm definitely noticing changes with my strength and my body in only a few months.

I'm an ultrarunner in Boulder with bad hips. When I decided to have hip surgery, but had to wait about 5 months to have the surgery, I decided to try Mecha and I'm so glad I did. The resistance and HIIT classes are not only injury friendly, but actually helped me target and strengthen muscles that were affected by my bad hips... hello glutes! I felt so strong going into surgery, and my recovery has been pretty seamless. I'm glad to be easing my way back into resistance classes... it is truly like Physical Therapy for me, and I know will help me get back into ultra shape! The instructors are great. I've taken the most classes with Mia and Bri (usually a weekday morning girl). I don't get to Kenda's classes very often but I think she's the best instructor. Victoria is wonderful too. Kari's HIIT classes are also awesome. read more

Let me start by saying this studio is beautiful. the front desk staff is lovely and they have plenty of lockers to store your things before entering the class. I've taken reformer classes before but it had been a while and I needed a quick refresher on the equipment and what everything is called. The workout itself was okay - but the teacher is what made it disappointing. Kenda had very cold energy. The elevator / spa music was not conducive to a hard workout. The instructor was almost mean the whole class. I didn't feel inspired to work harder, i was just angry with her the whole time. she was not encouraging but rather talked to the students with an attitude. Her cues to the next moves were minimal if they even happened. I felt frustrated after the class rather than lifted. Coming from a sports background and having had coaches yell at me to motivate me for years - i found that this was not a productive way of motivation. I don't know if I caught Kenda on a bad day - but it was a real turn off. I would prefer to go a class that I get a feel workout AND feel inspired afterwards. read more

I don't have enough good things to say about Mecha!! I have a serious back injury and the Resistance classes have not only made me noticeably stronger in a short period of time, but they have helped with my pain level and asymmetries. All of the teachers are fantastic and truly care to help you get the best workout for your abilities. Jenny always bring a fun and powerful vibe to class that is perfect for a stress-relieving after work workout. The owner, Rebecca, could not be a more supportive and uplifting teacher. Run, don't walk, to her classes! Cat, studio manager, is so kind and always there to help with whatever you need at the drop of a hat. This workout is amazing! I was nervous to try it at first because it looks pretty challenging (which it is!). BUT the instructors are wonderful at coaching you through each exercise and the staff and community is so lovely that it makes the workout fun and effective! BOCO fit is literally one of the most fulfilling things I have done with my life since moving to Boulder earlier this year. When I arrived here, I felt like I was in reasonable shape and wanted to work on my flexibility. Enter BOCO fit. Although I thought I was in good shape, the instructors at BOCO helped me to understand that my muscles weren't as developed as they could be largely due to my focus on cardio exercises. They were extremely helpful at guiding me into the Lagree method and made the exercise as approachable as I needed. The workout absolutely kicked my butt on day 1 and what's better is that it continues to kick my (better toned) butt four months later. I've noticed differences in my posture, my stability, my endurance, and my overall strength. Please don't hesitate to try this out--after 1 session you'll be totally hooked! read more

I discovered BOCO Fit while I was using ClassPass. BOCO was by far my favorite of all the studios I tried in Boulder. I loved it so much I ended up ditching ClassPass and getting a BOCO membership! The studio is clean and the instructors are really welcoming. The workouts are some of the toughest I have ever experienced. OMG these classes are SO HARD! And that's what you want, right? The absolute biggest bang for your buck? The trainers are excellent, the online booking is easy and if you show up, you'll get fit. The two types of classes cover all bases: Resistance (12 stations) is a sort of Pilates on steroids, with the small, controlled, smooth movements (until you are shaking from the effort) with the goal of working until failure. UNTIL FAILURE! I reach that goal many times in every class and look forward to more of the same. It gets every layer of muscle and gets it good. The HIIT classes are loud and dark! Club atmosphere with a trainer who creates these intense workouts (Mia is an absolute beast) for 18 stations, including bikes, climbers, cables and weights. As you rotate from one station to the next, the trainers come and adjust weights, give personal pointers and keep it High Energy and crazy good. They are very attentive. After the Resistance classes it feels great to move a lot. I am 66 and have engaged in a lot of methods to stay in shape. I know myself well enough (and I'm fierce enough) to push through the blocks my mind puts out to keep me from working hard. Don't be afraid to try it out because of age. I moderate my reps and intensity and it's really good. 60 really is the new 40 when you are fit. Every other activity in my life is easier because of Mecha's workouts. read more

I have never been treated so cruelly. I arrived 9 minutes late in a snow storm and was not permitted to enter the class, for which I prepaid the day before. This was presented as an established rule, but was not included in the fine print where I registered - with ClassPass. The real cruelty is that I was not permitted to tell my partner that I had arrived safe in the middle of the snowstorm and the receptionist also refused to poke her head in and tell him for me. I sat in the waiting room crying for an hour. Shame on you. read more

I have been going to Mecha for over a year now and I have to say it is by far the best whole body workout. I have scoliosis and since going to mecha have noticed I experience less back pain (probably from stronger core muscles). It is a very hard workout but I know I wouldn't push myself on my own without this class. I have tried both resistance classes and the HIIT and love them both. read more

I absolutely love BOCO Fit and Lagree fitness. I've worked out avidly (practically 7 days a week) for many years and have always been relatively thin but never as toned as I wanted to be. I always stuck to cardio, pounding pavement for miles and miles to the point I hated working out. For the past 4 months, I've been a regular at BOCO fit, joining class at least 2x a week. I'm blown away by how much more toned I am and how my body doesn't ache anymore since I'm doing low impact workouts now. My core is toned, tight, and strong and I have improved posture and minimal back issues. BOCO Fit's instructors are all amazing, friendly, and always give me an added challenge in every class. I am visiting from Cali for a wedding, and do Lagree fitness there so I was looking for a studio here, and Boco was amazing!! The class was challenging, well cued, and fun. I loved the look of the studio and the energy that was there. If you have never done megaformer, this is a great place to experience. I can't say enough good things about this place. I originally discovered BOCO Fit because it was on Class Pass. The first time I walked into the studio I was impressed. It is extremely clean and everything looks brand new. The owner has essential oil diffusers, so you are immediately hit with an invigorating peppermint smell when you walk in. It's awesome. The class itself is very challenging, but I never found myself dreading it. I am always really sweaty at the end and the class goes by super quickly. The instructors are fantastic and motivating and the music and overall atmosphere in the studio is great. I noticed a change in my body after going for a month. The customer service here is also unparalleled. I had some issues with my account and not only did the owner take care of them quickly, he extended my free week deal. I go to the Bar Method and the YMCA so I can't always afford to do the unlimited monthly, but if I could I would be there 5-6 times a week. It is not cheap, but it is sooo worth it. Out of all the studios I checked out in Denver and Boulder while doing Class Pass, this was by far my favorite all around, that's why I dropped CP and started buying classes directly from the studio. read more

Purchased a new member week trial, and wasn't impressed. I only got to attend ONE class, apparently, you have to book your class online waaaay ahead of time, otherwise there are no available spots. This is my favorite whole body workout done in 45 minutes with AMAZING instructors who LOVE what they teach!! It is done on a megaformer (similar to pilates reformer but so much better!) with resistance to condition the entire body in a way that doesn't put stress on my joints. You WILL become addicted once you try it!! I have worked out with every instructor and each one brings something new and their own twist on the workouts, it is never boring. I think it is a great way to supplement running/biking/hiking/anything!! read more

Best lagree I've tried so far in Colorado! After moving from LA and having a ton of amazing studios around me, I was struggling to find a good lagree fitness studio. All of the places in CO had the M2 which isn't my favorite. Well, I am happy to tell you that BOcO fit has the M3 machines!!!! The instructor I took (Amy) was the best I've taken so far in CO as well. Unfortunately it's far from me (I'm in Denver) but until there is a studio w M3's in Denver, I'll be driving to Boulder on the weekends! read more

I love this place! The trainers are great! The class is small so you won't get lost and really no one cares if you're not able to do the moves just work to make you stronger!! The only thing is that it's WAYYY expensive. I would love to shed the dollars but I was only able to do the special the had... Hopefully I can come back because it's a great workout to tone your body! It's mostly female dominate but it's a shame because I brought my weightlifter guy and he loved it! If you want to have that muscular look this is great burning fat and gaining muscle! Add this once at least once a week with your weight lifting routine and replace abs with this!! I'm a Lagree Fitness instructor in Los Angeles. I've been teaching since 2011 and taking since 2007. I have taken A TON of classes of Lagree Fitness over the past decade, at ALL of the studios in LA (where the workout originated). And I just want everyone to know, that BOCO Fit is a really great and exceptional studio. My parents live in Boulder, so whenever I visit, I go to BOCO Fit. This is why the studio is great: (1) You can tell that the emphasis of the studio is making really good, solid, effective routines. When you walk in, on the mirrors, they have different routines etched out, that I'm assuming teachers wrote down to share with the other teachers of really effective routines that they have created (I'm assuming this is why, I don't know for sure)...which is brilliant. There's some teachers in LA that won't allow other teachers to take their class, in fear that they'll steal their moves from their routines and the combination of moves. Who cares! A high tide lifts all boats. I love when teachers take my classes, so that they can learn from me, and I love taking other teachers' classes, so that I can learn from them. And it's great to see a studio that understands that. (2) SUPER clean. Which is really important for a pilates studio. (3) Really friendly with no ego. I have some weird back issues, and have to modify when it comes to core work. Some teachers I've run across take it personally, and think that I'm modifying because I don't like their routine. That's not it at all. It's because I literally can't do some stuff! Every time I've taken a class here, I let the teacher know prior to about my back, and they totally understand and don't take it personally and don't call me out in front of the class or any nonsense like that. Super professional and understanding. (4) Super good pricing. REALLY good pricing. Google and compare. The best deal for any lagree studio that I've ever come across (comparing it to LA studios and Denver studios), so Boulder should really taken advantage of it. (5) The studio is beautiful. It's decorated really well. Not too girly, not too drab. A really great atmosphere they've created. (6) The machines are really being taken care of well. They're only 2 years old I believe, and seem like they're one day old. No wear and tear on them. Also, they have one of my favorite versions of the Lagree machine (Sebastien Lagree changes the machine once every 2-3 years), which is the m3s. (7) They provide a towel to use during class. That's not a norm in LA, and it means that they really care about their studio and their clients to go that extra step. (8) I've never taken a bad class here (and I've taken a lot of bad pilates class over the years). The teachers are all really on their game. Really effective classes. I just wanted to address the one negative review on here: NONE of the Lagree Fitness studios in LA have showers. None of them. Also, I can't even think of a non-Lagree/regular Pilates studio in LA that has showers. It's not because it's not hard. Lagree Fitness is the hardest workout you'll ever find. Bar none. But unlike say, CorePower Yoga, a place that has showers.... there's air circulation in the room for Lagree Fitness. So, you'll sweat a lot, but you're not in a 90 degree room, like a CorePower Yoga. So, that might be one of the reasons. Also, at CorePower Yoga, they can fit up to 30 people in one class. This studio has a strict 10 person limit. So, the revenue is not coming in as much to provide showers, and employ a staff to maintain the showers, and rent out a space that has showers in the first place, etc. Again, it's not the norm. It has nothing to do of the difficulty level of the class whatsoever. Also, I've only experienced very nice and positive teachers at this studio. In conclusion, Boulder should really take advantage of such a great studio that they have. If it was in LA, it would be cherished among us Pilates junkies. So, I hope Boulder cherishes it, because it's a diamond in the ruff. Also, quick side note, if you've never done the workout, it's amazing. I lost 7 pounds in my first 2 weeks, coming 3 times a week (disclaimer, I really needed to lose weight though). Also, check out http://www.thestudiomdr.com/transformations/. It's VERY hard, especially the first couple of times, but it's hard for a reason. You get quick and amazing results. Also, if you have an injury, it's so injury-friendly. I tore my meniscus a year ago, and for several months, it was the only workout I could do. Couldn't do yoga, of course couldn't do cardio. It's really a godsend for people with different injuries. And people without injuries alike. And for all ages, which I love. I've taught 18-72 in my 6 years of teaching. No age discrimination for this workout. I've taken SO MANY DIFFERENT TYPES of workout classes in LA and NY, and Lagree Fitness is absolutely the most effective of them all. read more

I wanted to give this studio a try since I work nearby and it would be convenient. I walked in after making an appointment and the instructor was not very friendly. She was working on the machines and barely acknowledged me. I didn't see anywhere to change and had to ask. She sent me to a restroom in the back. I did not see a shower so I came back out and asked where the showers were located. She said that showers are not available and most people don't need them. I decided I didn't want to waste my time on a workout that isn't hard enough to work up a sweat, along with an unenthusiastic instructor who clearly didn't care. She did nothing to make the program appealing to me so I'm sticking with my current gym. read more

I think Mecha is an amazing fitness facility for anyone that needs a low impact workout. I injured my ankle last April and was told I could not do anything with high impact (running or jumping) for 1 year. This was hard for me because I enjoy exercising outside and have never been into yoga or machines at a large gym. The megaformer classes are an entire body workout that will leave you really sore the next day (in a good way!). The instructors are amazing at helping with any modifications or adjustments during/or after class. The new cardio classes get your heart rate high without your joints hurting the next day. I highly recommend this facility to anyone that likes small group settings. read more
