I haven't had a chance to try this meal that I ordered yet, but I had to post prior to that. We've eaten there before and it's always been great, but this particular time someone with our exact same name came in and had the order given to them. I can't tell you how wonderful the staff was to remedy the situation. Some items weren't still available and they went above and beyond to compensate. More like a 2.5. Good but not amazing. Meats were well cooked but under seasoned. Collards were fine but not flavorful. Carolina Pig sandwich was good but again needed more flavor. Their mustard sauce is good but other sauces were just ok; nothing outstanding. Would I go back? Yeah probably cause it's close to the house. Would I highly recommend? Excellent food find! I had a late lunch here, with a colleague, both of us are from out of town. I feel like there was something for everyone on the menu, food was delicious, and service was very friendly. I had the cheeseburger special with fries and a drink ($9.50), my friend had a Cuban, and we split fried pickles. You order at the counter, pay, grab your drinks, and the food is brought to your table. It happened very fast for us, and was very hot and fresh. We stumbled into Meat n Fire accidentally when driving through the area and were very pleasantly surprised! Service was great, the girls working behind the counter were vert kind and helpful. Restaurant was clean and bright. Food was super good and reasonably priced. The smoked chicken was delicious, but the sides were even better. We absolutely loved the sweet potato casserole! We came in late in the evening and was still received with friendliness and fear tasting food. The ribs were so tender and not greasy like other bbq spots. I enjoyed everything on my dish. We arrived after a long day working in the area. I wanted something quick to eat before we got back on the road to head for home. We heard about this BBQ joint near us so we decided to stop by. Immediately my thoughts were, "Aww, this place looks pretty homey." What I mean is I can probably enjoy it, the picnic tables reminded me of a backyard BBQ. The smell from behind the counter was great, the menu looked great, the service was great, but what I can deal without is the amount of flies in the restaurant. The food arrived to our table in a timely matter, our food looked great, but I couldn't really enjoy it because I kept having to shew all the flies from my food, my bbq sauce, and my table. It was really annoying! I ate as much as I could, as fast as I could, and we immediately left. My suggestion to help assist with this problem, cover all the food items behind the counter. Have covers for the BBQ sauce on the table and use a natural cleaner often to all areas. I didn't understand why there were so many flies in the restaurant. I think it would be safe to say, it would've probably been better to eat outside. read more

The food is okay but the service has gone downhill. I waited in line 5 minutes and nobody even acknowledged that I was there. I have been a long time customer and felt very disrespected. Hands down the best family owned barbecue joint in Central Florida. Cooked fresh every day, Meat and Fire holds the record for most days making incredible brisket early in the morning. Stopped in for dinner. I had the 1/4 rack of ribs dinner and my partner had the pulled pork sandwich. The ribs were tasty. The pulled pork was fine. As mentioned in other reviews, the sides are largely tasteless. The coleslaw was super bland; the Mac and cheese was super bland and the okra was also bland. I also didn't necessarily love the corn meal coating on the okra. We did, however, enjoy the desserts. I liked the banana pudding a lot. The service was pretty quick and friendly enough. Order the Banana Pudding! Stumbled on this place based on a colleague's recommendation during a work shift. It is located in a shopping plaza on narcoossee rd and st cloud. I am very picky about BBQ and coming here made me iffy a bit. So as my colleagues and I walked in, Notice there was few diners inside which can be a good sign or perhaps its lunch hour? You order your food and they will deliver where your number stand is placed. They offered lunch specials and combo meals for under $7 with a drink a single side along with your entree which is a burger pretty much. I scrolled the menu and the "Country Sides" interest me. So I opted for the Country Sides Sampler which I chose Sweet Potato Soufflé, Mac and Cheese, BBQ Beans and Collard Greens. That came out to almost $7 with tax and a water cup. As we were cashing out - We noticed some were just ordering JUST THE BANANA PUDDING. A lady spent $10 just on that for her to pick up to go. We sat and waited and we were noticing other peoples food entrees to see what is a popular food item that is being ordered.. Saw mostly lunch specials and lots of basket of fried okra. The lady served us our food and we noticed she already messed up the order, She gave us extra food that we didn't order ourselves.. She added an extra burger and a basket of fried okra! My colleagues ordered the burger lunch special with potato salad and veggie burger with coleslaw. Both my colleagues liked the burgers but the sides they didn't finish. The lady then came up to our table and realized she made an error with the tray of food and she asked about the extra burger.. She didn't grab the fried okra basket and so all of us just ate out of it lol and it was Delicious! Right amount of salt to the fried okra. My Sides Sampler was MEDIOCRE! The sweet potato Soufflé was just boiled and mashed up sweet potatoes and raisins. I couldn't taste nutmeg or cinnamon or any distinctive seasonings like a sweet potato Soufflé should taste like. The BBQ Beans tasted like canned bbq beans and they just added meat in it. I gave that item back and traded it for another item. The lady wasn't happy to grab it from me but I barely touched it. The collards were ok not tender enough for me and needed more smokey meat flavor .. saw lots of tomatoes in it, I never ate collards with tomatoes in it.. The mac and cheese tasted like velveeta to me. These are def NOT SOUTHERN sides that I am used to. The Banana pudding was good! It tasted like it had whipped cream added to the pudding due to it was fairly white and had that whipped topping texture. It had the bananas and nilla wafers and kinda too sweet for me. Great TAKEOUT place. Burnt ends are probably some of the best I've ever had, pulled chicken was excellent, and the smoked sausage was full of flavor. Only fail among the meats was the brisket -- while it was fall apart tender, it was also bland and a bit dry. Wouldn't go near it by "Texas" standards but smothered in their house sauce it was easily as good as any of the other meats. Out of the sides -- Mac and cheese was a skip, but the collards and beans were both good...and the tater tots were a *standout*. If you happen to be in the neighborhood around lunchtime takeout sandwiches would be fantastic from here. You probably noticed I've mentioned takeout a few times now. When it comes to sitting down at the restaurant...Don't. Eat. Here. Seriously. Not for COVID reasons, but because it was FREEZING. Think typical Florida air conditioning with ceiling fans *all* running at full speed. My meal was stone cold before I could finish a third of it. No barbecue is good in those conditions.
