As you walk in the restaurant takes you back to older times, everything seems rustic and classic. The dining hall seems out of 70's movies. Wide center and small boots all over. I've always liked Fat Boys, but today I tried the Senior meal which was 1/4 chicken with 2 sides and garlic toast. I asked for a chicken breast and a wing, coleslaw and a baked potato. The breast and the wing were the smallest piece of meat I have ever gotten in a restaurant before. I was very disappointed. I did not say anything while I was there. It did taste good though. The coleslaw came in a very small cup and the potato was smaller than most restaurants. I just don't remember getting such small portions at this restaurant before. Also, I ordered a soda and it comes in a tall cup. The straw they give you is too small and does not reach the bottom of the cup. I'm hoping they read this and order taller straws. Lol. I will continue dining there because the food is good and the service is good. I'd like to see more reasonable sized portions though. read more

We have visited this location two different times and both times I would give them a 5 star review. The second visit was for our son's birthday party. We secured their banquet room and had a buffet style meal with enough food for several left over meals. The staff is amazing and friendly. This was my first time visiting this location. I was in town, visiting family and decided to give this place a try. The parking lot was full. It was lunchtime on a Saturday. As I entered, into what could be described as a lobby, which had a cashier and a few "country store", looking displays, I approached the entrance to the dining area. A waitress greeted me and sat me at a booth, with a table, that was glued to the wall. As a large person, I could barely fit, into the tight seating area. I should've moved to a table, none the less, I had a little breathing room. The place was about half full. Most of the patrons appeared to be locals from years gone by, which was great. There were even a few actual cowboys and cowgals. The sign out front, did say "Welcome Rodeo Fans". There was even a table full of Sheriff deputies, wearing cowboy hats. It was a nice feeling, as if I had stepped back in time. Unfortunately, the dining room, felt neglected, as if nobody cared. It was lacking some sort of ambiance. There was nothing on the walls, as far as artwork or decor. There was no music and the lighting was awful. I have been eating Fat Boy's (never at this location), for over have a century and I have even broke bread, with Todd and Brian Keller. My waitress, who had been there for numerous years and was an absolute sweetheart, did not recognize the name however. She said the place was owned, by a Mrs. (I didn't catch the name) and was in the family for years. I could only assume, that we were talking about, the same families. As someone who grew up, during the late 60's, in the Orlando area, eating everything, from Fat Boy's, Sonny's, Mack Meiner's (Bubbalous now), Uncle Jone's to Fred's, I consider myself, to be a somewhat "connoisseur", of great local BBQ. Now, let's get to the food. I ordered a combo plate, with ribs, sliced beef, coleslaw, baked beans and fries, that came with a slice of toast. To my surprise, the food came out, within a minute or two. Which, could be a good thing or a bad thing. Sadly, it was the latter. I will say, the ribs were delicious and as expected. The sliced beef, however, seemed as though, it was laying around. from another day. It had potential, if it hadn't been dried out. The baked beans were just okay. The coleslaw, which was a little too sour for my liking, was sent back and exchanged for the Mac and cheese. It was just okay, in my opinion as well. The fries, what can I say about fries? They were crinkle cut, which is what I like and hot. The toast, again, it was okay, for a "Texas" toast. I didn't save room for desert. Well I did, but at almost $24 for that plate, I wanted to get out of there, with my dignity and my wallet. All in all and sadly, I probably will not be returning. For a buck more, I could've waited, until I got back home and went to Sonny's, for all you-can-eat baby backs. It's not on the menu. You have to ask about it. Employees were great. The owner Christy, was extremely rude. My parents placed an order in person and paid for a large quantity of food to be picked up at 3:30 PM on a particular day. They received a call at 240PM saying that it had to be picked up immediately because it was ready since 2! I arrived within eight minutes and tried to explain that this was for 330 and asked how I could keep it warm without sacrificing quality. The owner proceeds to tell me that she knows I told her 2 PM on the phone when we spoke. She is clearly confused because my parents placed the order in person with her. Her advice to me "next time give the right time you want the food ready for and you won't have this problem" mind blown It's sad when the employees are apologizing for the owners behavior as she stomps away. read more

Just had my 18th Party there today and the service and food were so amazing!! We held it in the giant banquet room and had plenty of space to do games such as corn hole and other things! However, the food is just as good and the waitress an older lady we had today was beyond sweet and great waiting on us. I ordered their st Louis ribs lunch special with garlic bread, macn cheese, and the legendary beans. My food came in reasonable time. The garlic bread was delicious. The beans were out of this world. The mac n cheese was just ok. The ribs, oh the ribs were so dry and lacked much meat at all. Stopped in on a Wednesday evening. I'm not even sure where to start with this review...the restaurant itself is basically like an old fashioned supper club (dark paneling, animal heads on the wall, a self-serve salad bar - you get the picture). I ordered a half rack of ribs meal and my partner ordered a pulled pork sandwich combo. The ribs were tasty and fall off the bone. The pulled pork was reported to be "good" but not life changing in any way. The sides left a lot to be desired. They were all served in these little plastic portion cups (why not just put them on the plate?). The Mac and cheese was "meh"; the cold slaw wasn't great; the beans weren't great. Most of the sides seemed like they had been left simmering on the cooktop too long (or had been over-microwaved). The selection of beer was terrible and disappointing. Service was fine. We visited Fat Boy's Bar-B-Q for breakfast on a Sunday morning. After looking at the reviews I was not expecting much so I was surprised that it didn't even meet my low expectations. I tried to play it safe and just order the blueberry pancakes but they were flavorless and gummy. The others ordered the eggs, biscuit & gravy, waffles, sausage and a breakfast hamburger patty with cheese. The eggs were greasy and the waffle was thin like a pancake but with square indents all around the top. I'm still perplexed by the breakfast hamburger with cheese. I never heard of that before and it did not look appealing. The coffee was super weak. The waitress did a good job. She kept the drinks filled and had a pleasant attitude. After the near-miss health code shutdown facing Catfish Place (another Saint Cloud staple), not too long ago, you'd expect other local businesses to actually take public health and safety seriously. Especially during a global epidemic, and moreso with a large clientele of senior citizens with fragile immune systems. Nope. Not good'ole Fat Boys. My mother is immunocompromised, and wanted to celebrate a family event with her first dinner excursion in months. From being sat, to ordered, to served: not a single food-handing employee had any kind of hand or face protection on, whatsoever. Only one busser had gloves, and only because she was spraying tables and chairs... Spraying. Not wiping or actually cleaning. Just spraying, and walking away. Upon inquiring as to why there were no precautions taken, to ensure customer safety. The server casually stated that those were not mandatory; not actually designated as necessary. After finishing our time, with most of our plates ending in to-go boxes to cut the obvious anxiety, we made our way out. Only to see a large number of tables sat, behind us. Well exceeding any acceptable capacity limitation. Thankfully, there are other local options for BBQ. Even after this stress and risk have subsided, they'll be the ones seeing our business in the future. Southern hospitality and asinine ignorance don't belong under the same roof. In true Saint Cloud stigmatized fashion, Fat Boys will clearly take any monetary gain they can get. No matter who they might endanger, in the process. My family won't be included in that, ever again. What a great find! My wife and I were out and about and, since it was lunchtime, we stopped at Fat Boy's Bar-B-Que. What's not to like? Service was great, the place was comfortable and the food was terrific. I had the pulled pork lunch special and my wife had the sliced B-B-Que beef lunch special. What a deal. There was plenty of food and all of it was excellent. My corn bread and baked beans were excellent. My wife's cole slaw and garlic bread were likewise excellent. We kept on saying, "Why didn't we find this place earlier!" We shall definitely return, again and again. read more

I've been hearing about the legendary breakfasts from Fat Boy's for a while. This past Sunday was the day to test this claim. We were seated without any wait and the menu was fairly filled with regular breakfast items. I tried the sausage and cheese omelet. You could tell the sausage was pre-made and reheated...bummer. Our kids had pancakes and sausage/bacon. I don't think I've ever seen my daughter clean her plate, but she did. I'm not sure if I would crave coming back here for breakfast, but I liked it enough that I will try lunch or dinner again. read more

Fat Boy's has been around since 1982 and it's easy to see why. Old fashioned BBQ the way it's supposed to be. They even serve breakfast here, Southern style. Fat Boy's has a salad bar, lots of sides, burgers, steak, BBQ and ribs. With so many options, I didn't really know what to pick and ended up ordering the BBQ feast for 2 ($22.99). This consisted of St. Louis Style Ribs, Bar-B-Q Chicken, Sliced Pork, Beef, and Smoked Turkey. The sides were Bar-B-Q Beans, Cole Slaw, Corn-on-the-Cob, Garlic Bread. You also had the option to choose a baked potato or french fries. I opted for Mac-and-Cheese while my friend got a Baked Potato. This definitely was a feast! The bbq sauces available were Original, Sweet, or Spicy. I made a mix between the Sweet and Spicy. My favorite meat of the whole platter was the sliced beef. It was pretty much like rare roast beef. The runner-up was the St. Louis style ribs. Nice and meaty, flavorful ribs. Put some of the sweet and spicy bbq sauce, it's a winner. The other meats were good as well, such as the chicken. You could taste the smoked flavor in it. The sliced pork and sliced turkey were okay. The sliced turkey tasted like sliced deli meat. The sides were really good. The cole slaw was very chopped and tasted like KFC cole slaw. The bean were very hearty and you could taste the meat in it. There are some all-you-can-eat platters if you solely want to eat just one type of meat. All this food is super filling but I had to save room for dessert. The Kentucky Pie ($3.95) looked interesting. I can't say I've had a chocolate chip pie with pecans before. It was a bit rich for me but I liked the warm chocolate chip pieces. It was a piping hot pie! I rarely eat the whip cream on anything but I really enjoyed the whip cream on this pie. Overall, the pie was good but it would have been certainly better with ice cream on top. Fat Boy's is very family friendly and great for large groups. My boyfriend brought me here because he's been coming here since he was a kid. It was amazing from the service to the food. Loved the camouflage carpet and thought it was cute. The place has a real hometown feel and it seemed that everyone knew each other's here. Our waitress was at one point literally running to the kitchen to put in orders for her large tables and that makes me feel like they really take care of the customers. I had the lunch special wings and I learn they smoke them and then finish with a deep fry, this gave them the most amazing crispy outside texture all while having the moist chicken in tact. Prices are reasonable, but breakfast menu is very limited. The decor probably hasn't been updated since the 1980's. Food comes quickly, I ordered an egg and cheese omelette, it came with shredded cheese that wasn't melted all the way and a square slice of american-cheese on top. The biscuits are phenomenal, but that was about it. Everything else was..meh.
