I liked the guitars hanging on the walls and the horsehair cushion barstool chairs. The drink I ordered was strong, I only drank half of it, but it was fun that there were popping boba in the margarita. The server was understanding when the steak was too rare and took it back to have it cooked more, and then it was amazing. We spent the night at McCloud RV park. We were looking for a good restaurant for dinner. Discovered The Meat Market on Yelp and decided to give it a try. We ordered the buttermilk fried chicken and the Asian pork steaks. Awesome! We were eyeing this place in the am yesterday so we decided to give it a try as reviews were good. Our host Trevor was extremely informative and helpful, and as we were still full from earlier dishes (thanks in part to White Mountain Cafe, about 50 steps away) we ordered the mussels and steak salad. Both were extremely full of flavor and the added vienna sausage gave dimension to the mussel dish, while medium rare for the steak really meant medium rare (in OC this usually means medium). Lemon mascapone cake with berries to complete the meal which was awesome as well. High recommended! read more

We went here because of the 5 Star reviews. Those must all be from friends or relatives. This place is awful. We had two of the worst meals we have had. My wife had the Elote chicken carbonara dish. It had a very severe lime sauce. It was terrible. I had the spare ribs. The ribs were dry and tough. They layered on the mashed potatoes. Just terrible. And the charged $31 for this mess. We stayed in McCloud for a week in Jan 2023 and there aren't a whole lot of dining options, but this was the one we went back to twice! They had a wide variety on their menu so we felt we could order all the things we didn't try the first time on the second visit. The French onion soup was rich and delicious, the shrimp and grits were great, and we had a few other pasta specials that even our kids gobbled up. The only drawback was that they were understaffed but that's how things are these days. The service was otherwise super friendly and accommodating, and the prices were very reasonable. read more

From the simple style of the building you would never suspect the insanely gourmet food. Patio has a lovely view of the golf course. All the staff was very friendly and we had some of the best dishes I've had anywhere - fried chicken and beef short ribs in particular, along with the paparadella pasta. I cannot say enough good things about this brand new restaurant in McCloud. Our hotel made the reservation for us for our anniversary and Harvest staff went over the top making our evening special. The food was a absolutely fantastic! The plating speaks of upscale restaurants in much larger cities. We learned that they opened during Covid and you would never know they were brand new. The service and staff acted more like a place that had been doing business for years. Our table was set up in an intimate little corner with candles and flowers and a hand-written note for our anniversary. Please make it a point to eat here and support this wonderful place. Harvest adds to the solid list of food spots in town (Axe & Rose, Meat Market) but it brings a welcomed new category. The menu pops with options using amazing ingredients/combinations all over the place - fried brussels with peaches, spicy crema, cilantro parmesan; mussles and chorizo; whole fresh fish; crazy good rack of lamb; buttermilk pie is one of the best comfort desserts. We were in town for a few nights and we popped in for a couple nights to play around with the menu. We'll certainly be back and looking forward to see what's cookin' here at Harvest. Service was slow, with mistakes. Despite us being the only table in the place. Ambiance was fine except it open open mic night for dinner time and super loud. Food was poor. Burger and fried without salt, ordered medium and was burnt and unsalted. Tomato onion and lettuce stacked with the sauce so it just fell apart when picked up. Kids Mac and cheese was Alfredo covered in parsley...what kid eats dried parsley? Fish tacos tasted like mayo and salt. Brussels we're under seasoned and undercooked, super crunchy. We were staying in McCloud for the night. Since Meat Market was the only restaurant open on a Tuesday for dinner, we opted in. And wow, what a wonderful surprise. Super friendly and attentive service. And the food was amazing. We had driven 5 hours and then hiked the 3 falls so we were starving. We ordered the chicken Cobb salad and Fried chicken with Mac and cheese. Best Mac and cheese EVER. Veggies were perfection. The restaurant/patio is very inconspicuous from the outside, given that it's situated on a golf course--but don't let the modest exterior fool you. We opted to sit outside at a tall table for two. Our server Alayna or Elaina (unsure of the spelling, sorry if I butchered your name doll) was phenomenal. She has a lively, bubbly demeanor and was very attentive to her tables throughout their dining experience. Compliments to the cook as well, their Cajun culinary experience really shone through in the scrumptious Spanish spiced mussel appetizer. We were disappointed the pasta con anatra is discontinued. However, the new chef's special, which is a twist on beef stroganoff, is absolutely delectable. The cream-based sauce was god-sent and the steak bits were sooo tender! We had leftovers since the portions were so generous and they were just as good the next morning. Will be returning the next time we visit McCloud. Cheers! read more

We went to the Meat Market last night and after a few moments, the owners recoginzed us. The price of a tito's martini has been reduced and the conversation was positive. They catered a funeral luncheon for our family today, and the food and service was amazing!!! The ambience of the heated patio with Mt. Shasta in the background was just breathtaking! My wife already wrote a glowing review for this terrific restaurant however our experience was so special I felt I needed to chime in. Knowing it was our anniversary and wanting to do something special for us our hotelier at McCloud Mercantile Hotel (also a 5 star review) made us reservations at harvest. During this age of COVID you really never know what to expect even from well established restaurant's. Upon arrival we found ourselves tucked away in a beautiful corner of the outdoor patio. Candles on the table and a special hand written note to commemorate our anniversary. Which regrettably I left there. The service was amazing and not just ours but every table out there. As my wife has background in restaurant management she always picks up on little things in servers that make dining out great, or well, not so great. Opening in July in the middle of rigid regulations you would think that the restaurant had been open for years. If you find yourself in McCloud and are looking for a place to eat that is on par with the best Bay Area restaurants Harvest is your spot. read more

Agree with all the accolades. This restaurant becomes a new reason to return to beautiful McCloud, before climate change heats up again next year. After a disappointing experience at a former sure bet in Dunsmuir we were delighted with a gourmet cheeseburger which was a beef treat better than fillet mignon and a wild king salmon dinner which was perfectly cooked. (I'm a good cook and I know how hard it is to cook fish perfectly, let alone do a delicately fried crust with a moist flavorful interior.) We were surprised and happy on the last night of our too short vacation. The pluses were so great, I'm sorry to add just a couple of quibbles: the Caesar salad was very generous, but the dressing was overly heavy and rich, and we started out with a strangely angry young waitress who, inexplicably, started ordering us around re seating. Fortunately, we were saved by an equally warm and helpful waitress ("just helping out") who added to the pleasure of the meal. We were glad we could sit outside on the veranda and enjoy the peaceful views of tall pines against the night sky, instead of having to sit in the cavernous, uninviting interior. read more

The fact that you can get a meal like this just south of McCloud, CA is almost incredulous. This is 5-Star dining at its finest that wouldn't be out of place in the foodiest neighborhood of a major metropolitan area. Absolutely unbelievable meal. Added bonus - prices are incredibly reasonable. Add Harvest to your list of "must goes" if you're in the McCloud area. A great compliment to the Axe & Rose and McCloud Meat Market.
