And the service was excellent. They sit u at tables with others. But there is enough room so not to worry if ur private. The meat is cooked without sauces and on the table there are sauces you can add to the meat. My favourite sauce was Cherry. My husband liked a combo of bourbon and spicy. In total we ordered meat balls, chrispy chicken and brisket. This was too Much meat for 2 people. The brisket was our favourite. So tender! The chicken was good but a tad salty. Like a few others have said, they really wanted to love Meat. I'm guessing I likely got my hopes up and was a little disappointed. Service was too notch! Our waitress Whitney was informative and pleasant without being annoying. She helped us choose how much food we needed and guided us through the process. The food was alright. Nothing super special. I was hoping my brisket would be a little moister but it was still good. The garlic fries were very very garlicky and greasy, I only had a couple as I didn't enjoy them. I think I would have enjoyed the Mac and cheese better! The ribs were the best part in my option, moist and smoky. They spicy BBQ sauce was the perfect compliment. All in all it was a good value! Came here because our coworkers came two nights in a row when they were in town and this surely didn't disappoint! Place is super clean and simply decorated. Everything we had was delicious but the brussel sprouts were next level. These aren't your mother's hard little gross grenades, these are shredded bits of amazingness. As a native Texan I was delighted to find a restaurant like Meat while visiting Edmonton! To start the service was great the entire time. We had a mixup in the food that was brought to our table but our server immediately acknowledged and corrected the mistake. On to the food.. we ordered bbq ribs, smoked chicken, and burnt ends. The flavor of everything was outstanding. I was a little disappointed with the burnt ends because of how greasy they were. It seemed more like chopped brisket that had been in a warming pan, instead of the actual burnt ends from a smoked brisket. For sides we ordered brussels sprouts and garlic fries. Let's just say the best chicken and waffles I have EVER had, and I'm from North Carolina. The fact that they hit the crunch factor and seasoning on the chicken dead on left me speechless. I have had terrible luck finding any of my southern favorites in Canada and all I have to say is, thank you Edmonton! This restaurant really didn't research. Also, amazing job on all the BBQ sauce . They weren't really classic but they had immense depth of flavor and was finger licking good. Has great patio and the background music is not to loud you can have a great conversion. Parking there's a lot of residential parking. I found mine 2 blocks away. Deemed as a must try by family and friends, we were not disappointed. I am not much of a bbq meat person but my hubby is, so I thought it'd be a treat to take him here. We came at 7:40pm on a Thursday night and only waited about 20 minutes before we were seated. Food came out really fast - we were pleased as we were famished! Between two adults and two kids, we shared 1/2 lb of brisket, 1/2 chicken, 1/2 rack of ribs, large mac and cheese, large beets and small garlic fries. So good. Been twice this month and both times it has been delicious. Long table communal seating, with some tables for 2 thrown in. 1 page menu offering smoked meats and sides, there is usually 1 meat and one side special the server will tell you about. Prices are good, for my wife and I, booze excluded we can dine for $45 including tip. My wife and I choose 2 meats, (small size) small fries and 1 other small side and we leave stuffed. Garlic truffle fries are killer, but this time a bit soggy, may have been doused a bit too much with the truffle oil. Just be aware, when they run out of something, thats it for the night. I had been hearing about Meat for awhile so finally a few friends and I decided to head down to Whyte ave on a Friday night and check out what Meat had to offer. It was about 8pm on a Friday and they don't take reservations, so I was a little worried about getting in, but it was no problem we were sat immediately (thank god too because I was starving!) When we first sat down the waitress came up to us and explained that they like to serve their food "family style", which essentually means you order a little bit of everything you want and share it among the people in your party. I love doing this however we decided among ourselves hat we just all wanted the ribs so we got those and each picked our own side. Our food came out fairly quickly which was a huge relief to me - and among receiving our meals we all dug in! I personally ordered the ribs, the garlic fries (which I had heard amazing things about, and the mac and cheese because I couldn't resist. The ribs were great - but they kind of had a smoky taste to them, as if they were cooked over a campsite. I believe this is the taste meat is going for as they smoke all their meats for hours prior to serving them, but I personally am not a huge fan of smoked things so they were just ok to me. The main highlight however and what made the ribs interesting is that they have an assortment for 3 homemade BBQ sauces - Bourbon, Cherry, and Spicy. YUM!! This sauces were amazing and it was fun t try them all out and get a different flavor of meat with each bite. As for the sides - delicious but oh my god they were NOT kidding when they sid the fries were garlic fries. WOWZA. So garlicy! I also ordered a small and got a TON of fries which was nice but I couldn't finish them all. The Mac & cheese was suuuuuuper rich and cheesy, and I thought it also tasted fairly garlicy but I can't be 100% positive on that because my tast buds were literally covered in the taste of garlic from the fries. Oh! And If you are a pickle lover like myself - Order a pickle. $1 for the biggest pickle you have ever seen in your life. No joke its the the size of a cucumber. Yum! read more

Was disappointed with my last visit here as the quality has gone down significantly since my last visit. We ordered a full rack of ribs, 1/2 lbs of brisket, and several sides. The ribs were straight up overcooked. Hard bark on the outside and not a drop of juice left in the meat. The brisket was also not as tender or juicy as I remember and it was cut paper thin? (think roast beef). I would have much preferred thicker slices, perhaps even 1/3 of an inch please? The sides were not great either. Mac n' cheese should have been cheesier, it seemed more like an alfredo sauce coating. I was perplexed at why they SHREDDED the brussel sprouts?? Can you believe this, the consistency was gross and was very watery... Hard to beat a nice roasted brussel sprout but you had to go and macerate them to a pulp? I personally will not be returning here anytime soon. The decor is cool and servers friendly but for BBQ the food has the be #1. read more

This is one of my favourite places to grab a bite in Edmonton. The food is fantastic, and if you're not wanting to pay a fortune, it's well priced. It's more of a relaxed type of restaurant. Their menu is good - salads, appetisers and then a range of different meat options. The meat is served on a board mostly and is tender, juicy and well cooked. Service is good, although this place is basically always busy and it's pretty noisy inside. It would be good if they could put some sound boards or something in there to absorb the noise a bit. Saying that, it's not a big issue. The drink menu is great, they have some nice beers on tap. Overall a good experience and I will continue to visit! read more

No delivery options other than them, on the website it says they don't take reservations but when you call it says press three for reservations. You don't get through to a real person easily and if they pull their heads out of /&/$@ they may see that on the very first page of the website they are open from 11 PM to 10 PM. Over salted and overpriced food with mediocre service. This is the second time I've eaten here. The first time was nothing spectacular, this time was altogether disappointing. Everyone at the table agreed this place was not worth another try. See the rest of the review for details. The table ordered a platter to share. Brisket, fried chicken and garlic fries. The brisket was okay, and the BBQ sauce options were mostly tasty. The fried chicken was moist, but didn't have any spices to make it interesting. Additionally, both the chicken and the fries were so salty, that they were almost inedible. Sometimes we'd try to take a bite and have to spit it out, because there was literally a pocket of salt stuck to the bottom. They must have dropped the salt shaker over our food or something. It was more 2x more salt than cheap fast food places. When the server asked how our meal was, I looked up blankly thinking of something nice to say. One of the other people let her know the brisket was okay. But we thought they accidentally over salted our fries and chicken. No apologies or response from the server to improve our experience. We didn't see her again until it was time to pay the bill. At the end of the meal we had over 2/3 of the fries left over and a pieces of meat we couldn't stomach trying. When the waitress came to get us to pay the bill we mentioned again that we had trouble eating the food because it was not seasoned to our liking. The waitress only responded that most people liked the food that salty and next we needed to ask the kitchen ahead of time to use less salt on our food. Considering she knew we were struggling to enjoy our meal, and she did nothing to improve the dining experience, I'm not sure why she thought we would ever come back. If this meal was at a fast food joint, I might be okay with a mediocre experience. But when you pay for a nice meal you expect quality food and service. Maybe Edmonton has low enough expectations for BBQ that his place is passable. But you can get better bbq at any American BBQ chain for half the price. read more
