If you want to scratch the occasional "I-want-to-eat-Mediterranean" itch, then Mean Grille can scratch it for you. The mild red sauce I had with my Doner Plate gave me that garlicky taste I love about Mediterranean. Food is a bit pricey for me to give it a higher rating, especially considering the plate orders. I'd be inclined to shop around for Mediterranean restaurants with more bang for my buc

This place is tucked off behind the movie theater and such a gem. The only thing that kinda sucks is the Richmond/Weslayan intersection. But it's worth a little defensive driving. The chicken wrap was delish, the chicken was juicy and very fresh the veggies were packed in the pita. The juices did shoot out the bottom, needed a tighter tuck. The spicy cilantro sauce was really good. It wasn't too spicy and had a nice kick, although I am a spice lover. The wait wasn't long and the staff was friendly. I thought the decor was welcoming. Will definitely be coming back.

Was pretty excited to eat here because of the reviews. The staff was helpful with our order since it was our first visit. The Babaghanoush lacked any smoke or roasting flavors. It was basically just baked, cubed eggplant flesh with fresh onions and red peppers minced on top. It came with no chips or bread. The staff did give us bread when we asked. The pita was cold and lackluster. On to the main - ordered the chicken and beef mixed grill with spicy hummus (up-charge). On the positive side the beef was cooked to order. All was a proper temperature. The chicken and the beef were BORING! No flavor - even for Mediterranean. The spicy hummus was the highlight of the lunch. The interior was pleasant but the outside seating is really not good - uncovered and on the street. All in all - given the price, variety and quality of the competition- will not be back. In Houston, you had better bring your A-game or you will not make it. On this dish these folks clearly have not. We had baklava :(. Not to our liking. The food was a 2-star, the service was a 3.5- star and ambiance a 4. Note - no alcohol!

This may not look very appetizing, (trust me, it's delicious!!) But this is day two of my dinner from Mean Grille and the rest is for tomorrow. Best meal prep in town! This place is yummy. I ordered The Governor's Plate, (I chopped everything up. It doesn't come that way), extra side of grilled veggies and an order of fries bc their crinkle fries are delicious! And a perfect vehicle to shovel that yummy house-made spicy cilantro sauce down lol. All their sauces are amazing! One is better than the next. Get them all and a lot of it! You'll use them on everything. Great salad dressing, marinade, pasta salad sauce, etcccc! Honestly, it would take hours to meal prep this and yet a click on DoorDash and I've got healthy, delicious food for 3 days. Well, the fries weren't healthy. Everything in moderation, amirite? Thanks Mean Grille. See you soon

Highly recommend. Perfect for after the gym!!! I'm thinking I go back tomorrow too. I'm here on travel. Shame we don't have one of these spots back home

After having been to Mean Grille twice now, and trying just about 1 of everything on the menu, I can for certain tell you that this place is legit great! Bright spacious interior, made to order fresh Turkish food, and the friendliest owner that is truly passionate about his restaurant. This place is a MUST try! Mean Grille is everything you could love about a small family owned business. The service here is top notch and so inviting. Food wise, I recommend their Adana kebab plate with extra spicy cilantro sauce, pistachio cake, and Turkish tea to wash it down. The beef/lamb kebab is just so flavorful and juicy. Then their spicy cilantro sauce would be great on just about anything. The side salad that comes with the kebab plates is super refreshing too, I believe they use a pomegranate citrus vinaigrette. Please give this place a try!! I came here for lunch on a Saturday and it wasn't busy. I truly think if more people gave this place a shot, they'd always be crowded with their big portions and tasty made to order Turkish food. 10/10 recommend! Enjoy!

Stopped by early Sunday and was greeted by the owner. He was so warm and inviting, taking his time to explain the menu. Because I was so early, slow cooked meats like the doner and steak weren't ready, but again, I was there shortly after opening. I saw there was tea, and after a thorough explanation on flavors and how to prepare, it was purchased. I got the Mediterranean Shrimp with cilantro sauce; great, balanced portions size, well cooked shrimp (tails removed), fresh veggies; the sauce was the perfect accompaniment. Dessert was good, not too sweet. I think I got hints of rose water? Clean, vibrant colors, lots of seating. I loved it.

Got the Adana Kebab Plate and Mediterranean Shrimp Plate. The servings are lunch style and portion so they are good for a quick bite. Adana was so incredibly juicy, tender, and flavorful. Really had that Turkish flavor and spices. Shrimps were huge, perfectly cooked, and also very juicy, but the stir fry and seasoning reminded me more of Asian cooking. Overall, the food is amazing, but I think some extra spices or seasoning can be added to either the rice, the protein, or the sauce to give it an OOMPH! For example, the Turkish tea was so fragrant and filled with complex spices that the moment you take the first sip, you are instantly enwrapped in the richness that Turkey food culture has to offer. I would like to see the same reflected in their entrees. Will be back to try the Doner!

New Turkish cuisine in town and we need more of these. Food was good and service was awesome. 1st time trying Turkish tea and I love it. Maybe a bigger glass would be nice

I fell in love with doner kebab traveling in Europe and ever since it's baffled me why it's not more common place here! It's so delicious. I was really excited to see doner on their menu and while it's different than what I've had, it was really good. The spicy cilantro had a great kick to it and I could drink the garlic sauce. The red sauce is a bit salty. It's a great location, I'll definitely stop here regularly before a trip to AMC or Costco (keep me from overbuying ).

    Beef Tenderloin Plate*

Went in for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised. The dining area is clean and very well kept. I'm guessing the manager of the place was the one working when we went and he was very friendly and told us what comes on each plate. The food was SO GOOD! My husband basically licked his plate clean! The cilantro spicy sauce was delicious if you like a kick. The garlic sauce wasn't too garlicky either it was absolutely perfect. The beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection and was so juicy and tender. We will definitely be back!!

Mean Grille serves perfectly balanced plates. This time I tried a chicken kebab plate and it was delicious as expected. Chicken was juicy and seasoned well. I love the spicy cilantro sauce, it ties everything together well. Pita bread was fresh and the vegetables were much needed for a refreshing side.

The chicken shish kebab, falafel, lamb kebab, and menemen were all well seasoned and paired nicely with the many dishes of rice, salad, and flatbread they all came with. The lentil soup was also delicious. I was with my parents, who really only have a desire to eat East and Southeast Asian food, but they still enjoyed our meal here, which is saying a lot.

The place is new but not recently new, so I was impress that they were still attracting a crowd. The place was packed and busy but the host was still able to seat us immediately. With reservation, of course. Our seat was a banquet seating and when the host directed us to our table, we notice the party seated next to our table had placed all their personal belongings on our seats. We had to ask the host to ask them to remove their personals so that we can sit down. I felt that the host should have done that and not upon our request. Our server was Keamogetswe and she jumped right into explaining the menu since it was our first time. I am used to ordering drinks first and while waiting for our drinks, explore the food menu. That way, we can ask questions about any item we were unfamiliar with on the menu. Anyways, we ordered our food and they came out very fast. For starters, we had the grilled shrimp which was just two shrimps. They were not prawns so the size of the two shrimps for $18 was not worth it to me. We also tried the Rumi's wings. They were average to me. Nothing to brag about. For the main course, we wanted to try several dishes and settle for a family style meal. We had the braised lamb shank, chicken kabob and the Koobideh Kabob. Since all plates came with rice, Keamogetswe suggest we try different rice options which was a great suggestion. So for the rice, we had the Adas, the Baghali and the Shirin. I have to admit that the braised lamb was amazing. The stew it sat in was very flavorful and the meat melted off the bone it came with. The Koobideh was also another favorite of mine. Both, I highly recommend everyone to try. And my favorite rice was the Shirin. As we moved on to dessert, we had the burnt honey & pistachio cake and the persian ice cream sandwich. Both taste great but the persian ice cream sandwich itself was vanilla wafer. Different but it made it easier to eat with your fingers. The weird thing was when the dessert was served to us, so was the check. I am used to us eating dessert or just starting to enjoy dessert before being handed the check. And when they do hand me the check, they would mention that it was no rush and when I am ready to take care of it. But that didn't happen and I decided to get it out of the way so I can just enjoy the dessert. As we were conversing and finishing our drinks, they started to clear our table and even picked up the signed check or tab. It felt like they were hinting us to get up. I feel that if there was a time frame to dine with them, they should have made us aware of it before dinner or when we made reservation like how Toca Madera does. So that made me feel uncomfortable. But this could just be me.
