At the start of the walkway, it's a bit plain, but as soon as you head down to the trail, the scenery completely changes. There's lots of greenery, flowers, and tall trees. There's even a little seating area with benches, which is perfect for a picnic or bbq with family and/or friends. Thankfully there were plenty of porta potty's and bathrooms as well that were conventionally close. We walked around the trail, but i'd definitely take another visit for a picnic!

There's also a playground. Though well serviced by roads (not all conservation areas are), the trails are badly maintained with many potholes. Walking out of the Boyd Conservation Area is more rewarding as the Humber Trail, which is pleasant and well maintained trail, runs north to Boyd North and beyond. They're open daily mid-June to early September, and weekends mid-May to mid-June and mid to end September.

Since the body of water is surrounded by the park I think that the water would be pretty calm. There's an accessible access point to the beach closer to AE Crookes Park. I didn't venture onto the beach so I'm not sure how fine the sand is. There are some parts that are definitely more pebbles and stones than sand. The park also has a picnic shelter with many picnic tables underneath it and washrooms. Just outside of the picnic shelter is a charcoal bbq grill with a bin close by to put the hot coals in when you're done with them. The Waterfront Trail snakes through this park. It's quite a peaceful and shaded walk.

BOTTOM LINE: A cute little parkette that has good accessibility options…read more PRO-TIP: Parking at AE Crookes Park "next door" gives you easy access to both to both RK McMillan Park and the Lakefront Promenade Park, but the former is definitely the better park for a stroll. If you're out in this end of town, I would still recommend the Colonel Samuel Smith Park first, but this is a cute option to check out. The RK McMillan park has fully paved paths for pedestrians and it's connected to the bike path that winds its way along the lake shore. If you start off at AE Crookes Park, you get a nice loop along the pebbly beach, through the park, and back. If you fancy continuing on, you can visit the Lakefront Promenade Park, but that's much more of a launching point for boats than anything else. Recently both these parks have made a name for themselves for Harlequin duck sightings, so good luck to all you bird nerds!

This beats being in traffic coming back from the cottage on the busy GTA highways, unless you happen to own a cottage! Pay and display parking is $2.50 per hour with a two hour limit. Enforcement is 24/7 as per the posted signage. Huge trees, flowers, Wilket Creek, wildlife, bridges and paved pathways zig zag throughout the forested parkland. The only annoying thing are cyclists buzzing park goers on foot. Yes, we all have to co-exist in our enjoyment of this green space but mine the 2-metre social distancing rules.

There are clean bathroom right at the entrance, the staff maintains the park very well even provide dog bags. There are easy to ready maps everywhere. Terrain: there are different trails that range in various levels of difficulty. The front entrance map provides a details overview of the trail. Some routes are accessible, since do have narrow paths and are more challenging. The park it self features trails, fountains, bridges overlooking falls, multiple look out points, streams & plenty of shade. It's beautiful in the spring, summer & fall. Highly recommend coming by early and enjoying a calming stroll.

Trouble is, where I live is way too busy and even thinking about doing something relaxing seems out of the question. Hence I was so surprised when this park, just a short drive away, came up. Centennial Park is wonderful. A quiet, but not too quiet, little escape. Free parking is a bonus, with a beautiful conservatory as you enter full of lush greenery and plants galore, you'll be sure to spend a couple of lazy afternoons here. You can take a nice stroll around, sit by the river, play disc golf or even have a barbecue with friends or family. Definitely one I will be visiting again. Washrooms are also in the conservatory and are very clean!

Right by the parking lot and washroom facilities there is a small pond with a bridge where many…read moreducks and geese flock to since there's people feeding them bread. The Humber River Recreational Trail goes through this park. It's a nice walk by the Humber River with lots of trees and various trails that stem from the main one. There are 2 paths; one for walking and the other for mixed use (walking, cycling, jogging). Dogs must be kept on a leash and there's plenty of signs posted advising of coyotes in the area.

There are spacious areas of grass great for picnics and photoshoots. I went on a Friday afternoon and amount of people was not a whole lot which helped with social distancing. There are a lot of geese near the pond with the turtle statue so walking in one perimeter of it was not a positive experience.
