A friend and I were in the area for a convention and feeling like for some lunch and were happy to see a McMenamins in the area! Unlike the other locations, this one is a little smaller but it was really personable. The bartender was great and let us split fish and chips into two servings with the pretzels appetizer. It was perfect and just enough for us both! The pretzels were warm and had a fluffy texture, with a delicious cheesy dip + the fish n chips were just enough freshness and not too oily at all. We also came shortly before happy hour closed which gave more options for our food and drinks! read more

Lunch in the Queen Anne district of Seattle, Washington... My high school classmate suggested meeting at McMenamins because she and her husband have patronized many other McMenamins except this one. This chain has a passport that will be stamped after you find its mascot. The mascot here is a "merman". I'm not telling you where it is... in case you want to join the fun! Besides having a reputation for good food, McMenamins also is known to take historical buildings and renovate them into their restaurant. For example, they changed a school into one of their establishments where you can have a drink in the Principal's Office! Cool, huh? I arrived early and found free street parking! It was chilly outside, so I went in and was greeted right away by Leslie, the server. She let me select any table. I asked if I could use the restroom and start eating before my friends came because I hadn't had breakfast yet. She said, "Sure!" I ordered the Aztec Salad because of the corn, beans, and tortilla strips. When I asked for no jalapeños, she warned me that the Chipotle dressing would be spicy and suggested that the dressing be switched to Ranch... great idea! With those adjustments, I devoured the Salad! Yum!!! My friends arrived and I ordered the Dungeon Burger (with Swiss cheese and grilled mushrooms). It was delicious, too, but I was kind of full, so I took the leftovers to my niece's apartment. (The fries were so crunchy and tasty with the Portland ketchup... I ate them all up!!!) I knew zero about this restaurant apart from seeing other Yelpers talk about it. That's what made me want to check it out. I'm so glad this was the first McManamins I visited (I mean, I'm sure many others have awesome things to recommend them as well). They pride themselves here on being the location where Grateful Dead fans congregated after the final Grateful Dead show in Seattle. The decor is pub/whimsical/somewhat morbid carnival-esque, all at the same time. The menu offers lots of options as does the drink list - including several different kinds of flights. We got the wine flights, which featured Oregon reds, and they were delicious; the presentation was also fun and creative. Our server was fantastic. read more

This is our go-to spot whenever we head to Seattle for an evening event at the Center. It's less than a block away from the garage we park in and, thanks to a fairly generous happy hour menu, we can enjoy a couple of burgers, split an order of fries, and drink a beer or two each for around $60.00-$70.00. The best part of the experience, however, is the friendly and welcoming wait staff, who are always glad to see us and are attentive to our needs. One in particular, a dark haired woman with a round face and a ready smile (whose name I really should have written down) is a real pleasure; she's fun to chat with and we're always pleased when she's our server. One tip: if you can, try to get there between 5-5:30 before the dinner rush that starts around 6:00. Otherwise, you'll likely have to wait for a table. read more

Excellent experience and one I have come to expect from other McMenamins locations. We went on a rainy Saturday afternoon after checking out the children's museum. It was a fairly easy walk and kid friendly! The service was good and our waiter checked in enough times where we never felt forgotten but also never felt we were being pestered. The menu in typical McMenamins fashion was a blend of different types of American gastropub food. But lets be real, one of the reasons you come to any McMenamins is the beer choices. My personal favorite is the Hammerhead IPA. I actually ordered an old fashion in addition to my beer because of how generous the pours were when I saw my friend order it. I can only assume that the bad reviews for McMenamins on here have never tried their Black-and-Tan Brownie Sundae because it is absolutely life changing. The brownie comes out hot and gooey, with the cold ice cream to balance out the flavors and textures, and topped with absolutely decadent chocolate and caramel sauce. Every time my boyfriend and I order it I have to stop myself from licking the plate clean. I will admit that the rest of their food isn't the most outstanding, just pretty typical bar food. The tuna sliders, their burgers, and their fries are good options if you're wanting more than just drinks and dessert. As far as drinks go, you can't go wrong with their Ruby Ale, an espresso martini (perfect to pair with a brownie sundae!), or any of their seasonal drinks. My boyfriend loves a berry flavored beer but hates ones that are too sour and the Ruby is right up his alley. If their Ruby Royale is available while you're there it's even better. Last time we were there I ordered some kind of cucumber cocktail and loved it. It was super refreshing and perfectly balanced. read more

As always - the beer selections were awesome, almost too many to choose from so the flight gave us some good variety. The space wasn't busy and our waitress was fairly attentive. We popped in for a quick bit, and that was not an option at McMenamins. It took 10-15 minutes to get our order in, and then another 40+ minutes for the food to come out. When it did come out, it was disappointing. They were not busy, they just didn't seem to care. There are so many better places to eat within easy walking distance, you should check those places out. read more

Being from Jersey I had never heard of McMenamins. My boyfriend and I were staying in the Pineapple Hotel just down the block. When I searched up places to grab a quick bite this showed up and I'm happy we went with it! Our servers were fantastic. Super helpful and friendly. We just got a flight and their delicious Scooby Snacks and sliders. I especially loved the Portland ketchup and mustard - both delicious. The food was great, the sliders were absolutely fantastic. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. There's attention to detail everywhere you turn. The ceilings, corners, windows, the plants. Everything is beautiful and well thought out. I couldn't stop staring everywhere. I'm glad we made a stop here. read more

Great little local bar. Stopped in before going to the Cornish playhouse. Kat was our waitress and bartender when we sat up at the bar. She has such a great personality and was really fun to chat with and she gave great recommendations. We had the trucker burger and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked with nice accoutrements including the pimento cheese and potato chips. Had a nice crunch. Paired it with a nice white wine, it was their house, white rabbit, Sauvignon Blanc. We recommend McMenamins Queen Anne before the Ballet at McCaw Hall. We had parked in the garage then a short walk to McMenamins for lunch before the ballet and it was just right. The atmosphere is fun and the service was attentive. My spouse and I shared the Twin Rocks Tuna Melt Sandwich with fries, which was very good and the kitchen even plated it for each of us. Our friend ordered the Tuna Sliders for a second time, which she had one and took the other two home. Only downside was my spouse ordered a Soda Pop, which wasn't very large and never refilled for $5.00! For that price, he won't order a soda again. Stopped by with some friends lately for a drink. Early in the evening and the place was not busy. We got sat quickly and the waitress took our order. Food and drinks came quickly. Had the Cajun tots and they where ok. Drinks where ok, not great. The décor is fun as all McMenamins is. Very eclectic. The reason for the 2 stars happened after we got our food and drinks. The waitress informed us she was off shift and needed to cash us out. We planned on ordering more food and drink but she insisted. We paid and then promptly where forgotten by the staff of the restaurant. No one came to check on us, or take another order. We sat for a while and watched other tables get service. Seems for a place that is not very busy they would want to help customers order more. With the plethora of choices in this area I really doubt I'll come back. read more

My boyfriend and I absolutely love the McMenamins properties and we had the chance to stop by here before a recent Kraken game. I had no idea there was one in QA, so I was so pumped! Since this was before a Kraken game and after a nearby holiday ballet, it was absolutely insaaaane. Line of people bunched up near the bar and I was certain we wouldn't be able to get in in time. Luckily we were one of two groups of two and we got in within 10 minutes or so. However, there was zero communication from any employee to the group of waiting people and we went five or so minutes with no groups being called despite tables being open... However, everyone was patient and giving them grace because it was absolutely packed that night. We got seated and service was great from there on out, albeit a little rushed (understandable). To start, we went with some hazy IPAs that were delicious, as well as some shots of our favorite tequila that they happened to carry. For food, my boyfriend got the Kraken burger and absolutely loved it. I got the seasonal tuna melt and it was SOOO good. I absolutely love tuna melts + tuna sandwiches, and they knock theirs out of the park. I'm sad that it's seasonal, because I would 100% order it again. And as per usual, the tots on the side were delicious. Happy to have knocked another McMenamins off the list and I'm sure we will return in the future. read more

After a few visits to McMenamins for drinks, we finally tried their food and were pleasantly surprised by the flavors. We tried the fish & chips, chicken tenders, and cheeseburger, and all tasted great with flavorful sides and sauces. The best thing for us was the seasonal Seoul City Crispy Chicken Sandwich. I think our server did not get the memo that you have to be aloof and cold to work at a McMenamins (my experience from MANY of their restaurants), because he was bloody fantastic! He had dark hair, a beard and a pony tail. He worked the corner section closest to our hotel (the Staypineapple Maxwell). I am directionally challenged so I'm not sure which direction that is (I think it's the east corner of the restaurant). We were there late night of Dec 8th (after the Ricky Martin/Pitbull/Enrique Iglesias concert). We were rowdy and took 2 tables of 6 guys and 8 girls. Not only did our server let us have 10 separate tabs, but he was able to keep track of the girls at one table and their hubbies at the other table - who were on the same tab. Our server was friendly and got everything correct. That is a tall order, when you have 2 combined tables of 14 people. He even split some of the food orders for the husbands and wives. One couple even wanted to share a beer and he brought them out 2 small glasses! McMenamins food is always the same but the Ruby ales and tater tots tasted a little bitt better than usual and I credit the awesome service we got from our server for that! read more

Within walking distance of Seattle Center and Key Arena (or whatever we are calling it now). Definitely a pub we come to every time we are in town. read more

Back for more while visiting the Seattle center with friends. Fun and casual spot for lunch. Happy hour starts at 3:00, we got there at 2:30, should have ordered a cup of soup, one drink and waited for happy hour prices as the food took longer than expected to arrive. No worries. My sandwich was just ok, the toasted bun was cold. Weird. The chicken was real but the fries were not hot. My friends tots were clearly freshly fried and delicious. Their sliders looked good. No photo. The server gave me two tasters before I decided on a beer which was good. The speciality drink was also delicious. No phot but my other friend got the cider flight and enjoyed it. I was in the Queen Anne area on my way to an event and stopped in to McMenamins for a burger. I like a good salmon burger now and then and they had one on the menu with tots so I gave it a go. My husband and I stopped here for McMenamins stamps and to check this place out. We went around 1pm on a Tuesday and it was dead in there, we were the only customers for about half an hour.
