The girl on the phone was so nice and told us our food would be ready in 15 minutes. After 20 minutes we left and when we got there We literally waited for 10+ minutes in their doorway without even being greeted out looked at. Then, once a server asked us what we needed, he told us to sit and wait for our food even though the girl on the phone said it would be ready in 15 minutes, over a half hour ago. Pretty awful. Terrible service. Very limited menu. Pretty poor beer selection considering the competition (you're surrounded by breweries and you're a pub, and you're charging $3.50 for a half pint of piss!) Fish was pretty awful- the breading was over half the mass of the fish. Greasiest fried fish I've ever had, and I've had my share of greasy fried fish. I have never had anything less than a great time at McMenamins. Whether you're coming in with the whole family or just grabbing some drinks before the Beavers game, this place never disappoints. I have never had great service here, I marked my stamp off my passport before this time but was unimpressed. Today I tried again by trying to order a Togo order of Cajun tots Jamaican bowl and a burger but whoever took the order was too busy to answer any questions I asked (for allergies) and I repeated my order 3 times. Once I got there 20 mins later for the 20min wait I was told, there were only 3 tables and 5 customers in the whole place, my food order was cold and asking for condiments for the tots was not only foreign but took another 10 min to fill only 2 Togo containers. The Jamaican bowl tastes awful cold, and I wasn't anywhere to try to reheat it. Everything was carelessly packaged it looked like and for the price honestly not worth it. I make Mcmenamins a routine thing but they're progressively getting worse. Definitely wont come back here even though it's across the street from my lab. I since went back to reverse the charge of my order since it wasn't what I had wanted (warm food). I may try again to see if it was an off day thing. read more

McMenamins is not known for its service at any of their pubs or restaurants and this location is no different. But they do have a great late night happy hour menu (after 10pm) and the bartenders are more friendly than the normal waiter staff. I like McMenamin's, it's probably my favorite dinner spots in the campus area. However, at this location in particular, the service can be rather slow. Sometimes it takes awhile for you to get seated (although several people obviously see you standing there) and it almost always takes longer for the food to arrive than you would think it should. The burgers are good and Ruby is one of my all time favorite beers. Fun fact: the curry bowl here is one of the best curries in town. Weird I know. But anyway, the prices are a little jacked up and the service is slow but you can definitely get a good meal here. BUT, the other location is better. read more

There is nothing absolutely amazing about this McMenamin's, but I enjoyed my solo date there today, and would definitely return the next time I am in Corvallis. We went to a football game, obviously right next door. I thought this was going to be a great place, we were from out of town and looking for late night eats. Super slow service- I've lived here for 10 years and whenever people want to go here it always takes several hours even if we just get drinks and appetizers. The waitress that is upstairs named Thanh is a complete unprofessional rude and pushy waitress. My friends and I were treated like complete trash when we were not in anyway drunk or acting rude towards her. She rushed the process of asking for our orders and then wrote down something I didn't want simply cause I wanted to know the price; but walked away before I could finish my sentence. When she came back I told her that she didn't let me finish but that I didn't want what she wrote down and she replied "Too bad, it's already being made." I refused to take something I didn't want and it was then that she decided to change my order. She accused my friend of not paying for his beer and made him come downstairs to talk to the bartender who told her that Yes, he indeed paid. She was snappy to my other friend telling him after he asked if the other tots were coming that "If you would just be patient they would be here." And so on and so forth. McMenamins on Monroe is one of my favorite places to go for good beer, food and entertainment. They have a great happy hour menu, pool, shuffle board and an opportunity to purchase a beer passport for all McMenamins locations. Beer: The unique seasonal ciders and ales are almost never disappointing if you are into trying new things, or if you would rather indulge in a cocktail, they have house specialty drinks such as a "Hot Apple Pear" (Edgefield Pear Brandy, Tuaca and hot cider) plus your usual go to, like my favorite, Moscow Mule. They also offer "Brewery Flights" which is six 4 oz. samples of their brews on tap for only $8. I tried their seasonal blackberry hard cider. Usually ciders are too sweet for me, so the waiter suggested I try the seasonal cider mixed with half of their Edgefield hard ciders to balance out the flavors. My boyfriend got the "Ruby" and did not like it because it was a lot sweeter than the description expressed. When the waiter came by and asked our opinions about the drinks, she immediately offered him something different. He then ordered a "Hammerhead" and was very satisfied with the smooth slightly bitter choice. Food: The happy hour menu is one of the best ones in town. The prices start at $3.25 for their infamous Cajun tots, up to $7.25 for a larger dish. Happy hour is from 2pm-6pm and again 10pm-close. My boyfriend and I arrived for a late dinner around 8, and to catch the last few innings of the Dodgers game, but didn't stay long enough to enjoy happy hour. As a vegetarian, the menu choices are very important to me. There were a variety of vegetarian options but I went with the "Hammerhead Garden Burger". This came with lettuce, tomato, onion and their secret sauce. I requested the sauce on the side because I was unsure if I would like it, but it turned out to be really good and one of the best garden burgers I've ever had. It was a great substitute for a beef patty and gave me all the satisfaction of a normal burger. My boyfriend got the Ale-Battered Fish & Chips. The fish was served at the perfect temperature and the fries were perfectly crisp. The fish was battered evenly and made it perfectly crispy and paired well with the side of fries. Entertainment: When we arrived, we asked to be seated upstairs somewhere we could see the LA Dodgers game. They sat us in a booth where we could see both the baseball game, and the big screen downstairs which had football playing. Although we were seated in a loud and busy location, downstairs offers much quieter and private dining experience. The atmosphere in the Monroe location is dark and artsy while still maintaining a sports bar feel. Downstairs, they have large televisions with a variety of sports on at all times of the day, and on game day in Corvallis it is a prime location for Beaver fans to drink beer and get rowdy with fellow Beaver believers. Upstairs, they have two pool tables that you can rent pool balls for and play and a shuffle board table. McMenamins also offers a "Passport". This is a booklet that encourages you to visit all of the McMenamins locations as you earn rewards along the way. The passport costs $25 to start, and you can earn up to $500 worth of prizes. These prizes include free tots, growlers, and tickets to a concert or movie at Mcmenamins Edgefield. At the end of our dining experience we received the bill but it did not look accurate. When we questioned the waiter on the total, he quickly took a second look and realized that he had added three extra items onto our tab, making the bill $20 more than it should have been. Without question, he went back and corrected it. One thing that would urge me to give McMenamins less than a five-star review is the service. Although I have never had a bad experience with any of the staff, and they are always extremely kind and great with recommendations, the service is extremely slow. They will seat you fairly quickly but it will take them a while to come back to ask for your drink order and then again for a food order. I would recommend knowing what food you would like before they come to take your drink order if you are trying to make it a quick meal. Also, I would recommend you order a second drink before you are done with your first one if you plan on having seconds. Overall, McMenamins is a great place to go hang out, shoot some pool and watch a Beaver game, as long as you are in no rush. read more
