Nick has been available through the years to answer questions and to help our friends with home remodeling needs. Don't hesitate to choose Firth Construction. You can rest easily knowing that Nick will care for your house as if it's his own and he knows his stuff. He will solve issues that arise. You won't have to intervene and you will be very glad that you chose the right, conscientious contractor. In contrast, we undertook a major remodel with a different GC over the last year. We didn't use Firth Construction because of our scheduling and timing needs; however, we have major regrets that we didn't wait for Nick and his team to be available. We have had numerous headaches with the other company with many things having to be redone and having to settle with "good enough" because we had no choice. We had to bring in our own sub contractors to complete some work so we could feel comfortable that it was done correctly. In fact, we are still waiting for the GC to finish major work and are sitting in limbo with only one (of three) fully functional bathrooms, which is the bathroom Firth Construction did years ago. It's been extremely stressful, frustrating and disappointing. Renovations aren't always easy and unexpected things will happen; however, you can give yourself peace of mind and less stress if you choose Firth Construction. I wish we had and we are paying the price now.

The company did the classic thing of taking twice as long and costing twice as much as quoted but when they were done, the work was terrible too! The walls began cracking almost immediately and we had to have other contractors in to fix all the errors they made. Their people smoked on the job site (so, in our home) and whenever we would try and talk with company representatives, they would try and gaslight us into believing it was somehow our fault. I cannot say strongly enough that you should hire literally anybody else.

We were extremely…read morenervous and overwhelmed because our baby had tested positive for lead, and making sure our apartment was safe for our family became our top priority. We had so many worries and questions, but John took the time to listen, explain everything, and put our hearts at ease. From that first conversation, I felt like we were truly in good hands. John and his team went above and beyond to make our home safe and beautiful again. The work they did transformed our place and made it feel brand new. What impressed me just as much as the quality of the work was how incredibly clean everything was when they finished. Given everything we had been through and how worried we were about our baby's safety, that attention to detail meant more to us than I can put into words. There were also a few areas we reviewed that remained potential concerns, and John and his team didn't simply walk away once the main work was finished. They made the effort to come back and address those areas on their own time because they genuinely cared about making sure everything was taken care of properly. You can truly tell when someone puts their heart and soul into their work, and that is exactly how I felt with John and his team. Their professionalism, compassion, integrity, and commitment to doing things the right way are exceptional. I am so thankful that our landlord chose this restoration company to work with. I would wholeheartedly recommend John and his team to anyone looking for a company they can genuinely trust. They didn't just fix our home -- they gave our family peace of mind during an incredibly stressful time. For that, we will always be grateful.

Fahan Construction, quite simply, did an incredible job. That's the long and short of it. They…read moreimpressed, whether it was with the handling of inspections and inspectors, the transparency with financials, or the simply trade itself, John Shaw and his team were always on top of our renovation. Professional, respectful, and highly communicative, he was always there whenever we needed him, by text, phone, or in person, if we needed reassurance, advice or progress reports he always seemed to be right on the ball. It's hard to communicate just how important this is to keep the blood pressure down while undertaking something as life altering as a major home renovation, but we always felt Fahan had it under control. Our project was completed on schedule, 7 months to do a new kitchen, master bath, staircase installation, family room and deck, plus electrical and lots of small detail work around the house. Seven months is really something considering how easily big renovations like ours can go off the rails. Horror stories abound, and we, quite literally, had none. What a huge relief. In terms of costs, Fahan was transparent and upfront with us. They estimated and invoiced all expected and unexpected costs up front, and clearly stated any potential overruns. There were some, but none that we felt were from left field, and for each one we were given options to keep in line with what we were comfortable with. We understood and signed off on everything before anything moved forward, with a comforting degree of transparency. The only downside we could see was that the pricing tended to be high. It's not entirely clear however if this was due to the current economic conditions of '22-'23 or if it's just what quality work and workmanship costs. But as they say, you get what you pay for. Overall, we felt well-taken care of throughout the process, like there was an insider who knew the business, the pitfalls and the tricks. "I trust them", were words we uttered more than once. Most of the time we weren't even at the house, only catching up on the progress on weekends, but we always knew that the work would get done and with little to no issues along the way. THe house turned out amazing. We really couldn't be happier with the work they did. Fahan's just a quality outfit, contractors and subs, that you should trust with your house too. Just top-shelf all the way. Two thumbs up.

We hired Fahan for a number of projects at our home in the Outer Sunset of San Francisco: building a new deck, extending power and plumbing to the back yard, replacing our leaky roof, providing access to the new deck from our bedroom and a number of other misc projects inside our home. All of these projects were completed on time and with superb quality. John was incredibly friendly, professional and responsive throughout the whole process. He was extremely thorough: from working with the architect to co-ordinating with all the inspectors, to introducing us to all the members on his team and what we could expect from them on a regular basis. He managed the whole project effectively by providing us with timely quotes, invoices and being diligent about addressing any follow up questions we had. If there were any unforeseen issues with the weather or supply chain issues, John kept us informed and worked around each of these issues while keeping the project on time. Every single day, his team would show up on time and work diligently while keeping us posted if they needed anything. When we wanted something updated or changed, they obliged us immediately. What was particularly impressive is that they pulled off a number of different projects working across 3-4 different groups of people! I will definitely miss them around our home. And will reach out to them we need anything built or fixed moving forward.

How many people say they still really like their contractor when everything is said and done? Not many, I'm sure! As well as being responsive, Arthur stayed on time and budget throughout the whole process. When there was a question or change to our plan, he put serious thought into it and gave us responses that were clear and straight forward. (We even added another bathroom!) Arthur frequently suggested a good solution that improved upon our original design, and even saved us money! There is no question about the quality of work Arthur does. He is a master at remodeling in every sense and a true professional able to offer multiple contacting skills doing whatever was needed -- tile work, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, you name it. Everything was completed professionally and to code. Arthur is a highly skilled, knowledgeable, professional who insists on performing high-quality work. He took the time to understand the scope and prepared a clear, well thought-out and solid estimate that qualified any areas of uncertainty he needed to address during construction. We were given the opportunity to approve all changes in advance--there were no surprises. He showed up when he was supposed to and completed the work timely. The final price was very fair, especially considering how well the work was done. Arthur and his crew were very easy going and a pleasure to work with. They kept us apprised of progress and any issues encountered. We were away while some of the work was being done. During that time, Arthur provided daily photo updates of progress, which allowed us to enjoy our vacation without worrying. They were flexible to accommodate changes we requested and demonstrated ingenuity in their solutions, for example, rebuilding a French door that was a nonstandard size. We have worked with several different contractors and Arthur Remodeling was by far the best. We recommend them.
