The day after my first post, McKim reached out to me and sent out a crew prepared to address the issue. I give them credit for that.

McKim was hired to inspect the soundness of our properties drainfield. The report stated substantial damage based on them scoping the drain field. When this was mention to others in the industry we were told to verify it because "they have a reputation" of doing this. Our first red flag. We called in the installer that upgraded the inlets/outlets/dbox/etc. (not McKim). He arrived to do the repairs, however before doing so, we asked him to rescope the lines. Thankfully the county inspector was also onsite to make sure the projected repairs were accurate. Line one was scoped, two, three, etc. to our astonishment there was absolutely NO DAMAGE! The county inspector was composed but noticeably not pleased. He was provided a copy of McKims report that specifically stated the damage and that they had scoped the field. With this said, I understand mistakes are made. We contacted MCKim to get an explanation and work to fix the error. After all we had to pay for this second inspection to confirm this error so at a minimum we expected to be reimbursed for this expense. Not so. All they said was "sorry". The supervisor could have easily owned the error and worked to fix it but they have doubled down on the lie. In further attempts to contact them our calls go unanswered. The county has reached out to us and encouraged us to not let this go. The county was able to observe this first hand onsite. It is sad to say that there truly are businesses that still try to prey on homeowners. Please take our advise here and steer clear of MCKIM, they are not honest and have no integrity. read more

I used McKim Construction and Septic to have my septic pumped out. Before selecting McKim, I called and spoke with 5 septic pumping companies. I selected McKim for a couple primary reasons: they are local and family owned, and they had the best price with the lowest cost escalation risk for me. They also told me right up front that they would handle filing the required county data for the septic system. I will continue to use McKim because they are friendly, did exactly what they said they would do, and minimized the mess required to dig up the septic tank cover, which is unfortunately smack in the middle of my backyard. McKim is a great value for septic pump out, and they do what they commit to do. No surprises. read more

Do NOT recommend!! Our builder used McKim to install the bio-microbial septic system in our new construction home. I was not impressed with their basic knowledge or service of the system. Not professional at all and charged us a high fee for coming out to address our concerns and questions (which they had no idea how to answer) even though we had a service contract! They do not follow through with any request and act like they can't be bothered. read more

They don't answer the phone, when they call you back they don't listen to what you're saying. Sent someone out just to tell me the part I told them was broken was broken. Said they'd call back with prices to fix it but never did but still sent a bill for the "service call". So I gave up and went with a competitor who does actually answer the phone. read more

Either the poor maintenance or poor inspection caused me nearly $2k in repairs. Per county records, they provided septic inspections for the previous homeowners. Shortly after moving in I called for an inspection. They never returned my calls. When a different company did an inspection they found screws installed in an outside electrical box were too long and moisture was getting in. This caused the pump and the electrical board to fail. After sharing my experiences with other local homeowners I have not heard one positive experience. read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY PLEASE!!!! They are horrible, the worst nightmare ever!!! McKim did installed a new septic system in our home, and their job is so sloppy, careless, and unprofessional. They do not give you warranty for what they do! I called them few months later after the septic was installed because the septic was already failing they just ignored my phone call, and was told that they do not repair septic systems! all the money we paid them wasted!!! read more

We have used McKim Construction since 2012. They perform our annual septic tank inspection and have maintained our system for the past four years. Here's what know about this company: their service people arrive on time, are friendly and professional. They are honest and competitively priced. But most of all - they are responsive and go the extra distance to help you out - especially during a crisis. I'd left a voice mail on the weekend thinking they would call back on a Monday. Instead, Mr. McKim returned the call the same day and walked us through the problem. When you call them - they are responsive and you feel like you have a friend in the business.
