I wish I could give 10 stars!! My husband recommended Dr. McKenna after I had several bad experiences with other dentists, and I'm so glad he did! From my very first phone call to the office, I felt cared for. Kelly answered my call, listened to everything I was going through, and managed to get me in for an emergency appointment within a few hours!!! Dr. McKenna was absolutely wonderful. He truly listened, explained every step clearly, and made me feel comfortable the entire time. His assistant (I feel so awful forgetting her name!) was just as amazing. So kind, gentle, and reassuring. You can really tell how well the whole team works together. Before starting the root canal treatment, Dr. McKenna explained every step and made sure I was fully numb, something my last dentist didn't even bother with, even though my filling was deep. Dr. McKenna fixed the poor filling from that previous dental office and discovered bacteria under the tooth that was causing my pain. My previous dentist had insisted nothing was wrong and left me to deal with on and off pain and no antibiotics for months!! I then went to another practice, as the pain became excruciating, same thing and said I had to wait at least until the end of the week until next months schedule opens for root canals. However, Dr. McKenna found the real issue right away and treated it properly. While explaining the X-rays and what they show. I'm still healing, but I already feel so much better and finally heard. I can't thank Dr. McKenna and his team enough. They've earned a new lifelong patient! Doesn't not care about his patients. Told him I had bad experiences and was really skittish. Soo you'd think he'd give me some room and space when I need it. 1. He left the room on 3 different occasions to help other patients meanwhile he's removing cavity's out of my mouth. I think that's rude. Then 2. I couldn't breathe I was all numbed up and couldn't feel a thing the assisitant was spraying water in my mouth and I couldn't swallow or breathe and I tried to let them know but shaking my hands but nothing. Soo I had get them away as nice as possible so I could breath. Then he demanded an apology and he said he would leave room and I could go home with holes in my teeth. Jj you do a great job dealing with distressed patients. Maybe don't take out your anger from your home life onto your patients . read more

Don't bring kids here, especially if you have a neurodivergent child. This guy has no tolerance for or even understanding of the concept of demand avoidance. He also was also condescending about my teeth, and I am not even his patient. I am on the verge of writing a letter to the dental board I am so put off by his disdain for children with disabilities. read more

My mom & dad began going to Dr. McKenna before I was born in 1982. They brought me along & had me sit on the floor so I could play with a tooth brush & get me acclimated to the atmosphere, him, & everything else. Aside from regular cleanings & repairs, I've have extensive ortho work (McKenna does that, too!). I cannot thank him & his amazing staff for everything they do. When others brag about their dentist (or orthodontist) they must be lying, because no one beats McKenna! My husband & now even some friends see him, too. I've never known fear, pain, nor anything anyone speaks of when they complain about stereotypical dentists because I have MCKENNA! Waited for over 40 minutes and front desk guy was extremely rude. Guy at front desk quotted me wrong for the retainer a couple of times, and the dental assistant gave me a significantly cheaper price. I told the dental assistant the front desk guy was rude and quoted me a different price... she rolled her eyes then left the room. When I went to pay for it, it was another price all together! How do you not know your products? Should have caught the red flag. Was told my retainer would get here in a week, it got here in two. Which, fine is not in their control, but I had to wait a couple of extra days to see the dentist while he had a personal issue... just a girl trying to get her retainer here, took almost three weeks. WORST part is, these retainers are god awful. They're already breaking and I got them less than three months ago. The plastic is peeling and my top retainer has a huge crack running through it. They're supposed to last five years. Now I'll have to go spend hundreds of dollars on a new retainer again , but it won't be here. There's so many dentists in the area, take your business elsewhere. read more

Went to this dentist for many years and always trusted him. What a mistake. Everytime I went he said I needed a root canal even though I never had any pain with any tooth. Now I realize he was just trying to make money. Everyone I know that went to him, he did root canals on. Now all my teeth are rotted under the crowns, crowns breaking off and I need implants and dentures. Do not use this dentist. read more

I have had many many bad experiences with various dentists in my life. It got to a point where I even quit going to any dentist except in an emergency. I had never had a dentist that put me at ease or did what was needed without lots of pain and discomfort. This all ended when I went to see Dr. McKenna. The office staff has been very personable and made me feel at home since my first visit. Dr. McKenna has done several procedures on my teeth to correct all the years of neglect. Every procedure was as painless as could be and I felt relaxed in the chair. I have referred Dr. McKenna to other friends who have been as pleased as I have. Our family loves Dr. McKenna and his staff. Been going to him for almost 10 years. He's friendly but low key, gets the job done. I've only had a few cavities for him to work on. I'm not a big fan of needles in my mouth, so he drills without local anesthetic. Never had a problem. As I said, staff is great too, Eva is my favorite hygienist. Gotten to know her personally and always look forward to catching up with her on my visits. read more

I've gone to Dr. McKenna's office since I was five years old. I've since moved across the country, and I've never found anyone as good. His office is clean and efficient, and his techs are always wonderful people. Dr. McKenna, aside from being very knowledgeable, is a very calming, steady presence, even when you're like me and have to have holes drilled into your jaw and this scares you quite a bit and ohmygod is that a needle and what on earth is that contraption? Horrible experience. I'm usually terrified of dentists so I was hoping this office wouldn't be a disappointment. Unfortunately it was. I repeatedly told the hygienist that I suffer from anxiety and she would just stop and then continue to clean, telling me that she "couldn't do anything" if I kept moving. Very rude. I nearly had a panic attack when she started the cleaning. Then she told me that the laughing gas would make me feel better but it made it worse (although that was out of her control of course). They barely did any work and they sent me a huge bill in the mail for a whole workup because my insurance didn't pay the rest. This place is just looking to get your money. read more

This is my personal experience. I felt the staff was rude and acted as though I was not even present.

We searched for a good dentist for YEARS. We went to many dentists with fancy buildings and lots of flash, but no substance. We had so many problems that arose from their poor work. We were finally recommended to Dr. McKenna about 6 years ago and I can't tell you what a relief it was to find him. He is a master at his trade. His office is small and clean. His hygenists are all so friendly, my favorite being Jenna. He always walks you through his thought process, and why he's doing what he's doing. We've since moved to Wyomissing, about an hour from his office, and we still make the trip to see him. He's that good. We will most likely continue to see him no matter how far away we move. He's worth the trip. read more

Dr. McKenna's office is amazing! I never had any good previous experiences at any dental office. First,I had a great experience with the dental hygienist, Yolanda. Yolanda made sure to be extremely gentle during my cleaning and was very thorough. After I got my XRAY taken, she explained everything to me while looking at my XRAY. This was great because it really helped me to understand what I was looking at. I then seen Dr. Mckenna for my fillings. He again, explained everything to me and walked me through the procedure as he was doing it. He offered me headphones and I even got to pick the kind of music I wanted to listen to during the procedure. That was very thoughtful because he could tell I was nervous. Weeks later, he took my wisdom teeth out. Again, the experience was great. He let me pick my music and explained every step of the procedure to me. He called me later that evening to check up on me and reassess my pain levels and comfortably. He is very thoughtful, kind, and gentle which is extremely important when picking a dentist. This dental office never disappoints. The staff are VERY friendly and make me feel comfortable when booking appointments. I highly recommend this dental office. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would! This is the worst dentist I have ever been to in my life. They lied about the services they were providing and the cost, they have medical records of all their patients on display infront of you which is completely illegal, and their staff is extremely rude.
