Love the new tasting room in a the same building as Occasio and Nottingham. Just opened this weekend and it's gorgeous. We were hosted by Chuck, the winemaker for a by-appointment tasting that was full of great wine and great conversation that culminated in us joining the wine club. It was unhurried and exceeded our expectations. Chuck has the credentials (Chappallet) to take their wines (mostly Rhone blends heading to exclusively Rhone blends) in the right direction. Gorgeous new tasting room! Love the design and the private tasting room. Also love the wines. They're all delicious. Lots of medal winners. I enjoyed all of them. We started with the 2016 viognier. Light and fantastic. Then we tried the 2015 charonnay- as delicious as I remembered. Next the 2014 Zinfandel, wonderful- very light for a zin! Let's be honest... wineries come a dime a dozen. However, wineries that truly treat you as family are rare. McKahn's is the exception to the rule. An amazing winery that is truly about the "family" experience. That atmosphere really sets them apart from other wineries. We came in with a group of friends and were sold on the wine (amazing reds) and the incredible customer service. We ended up joining the wine club and REALLY enjoyed the private room in the back. A lush place to relax and drink their great wine. We really felt like VIP's. We also joined them for their party last weekend and were treated like royalty. Owners and staff made a point to check on us and we had several great conversations. Denise and Kevin are wonderful and we look forward to seeing them again soon. Im from the region but live just outside of it now. I have a couple "go-to" wineries throughout California And would not hesitate to re-visit!!! We left with a few bottles - you just DO NOT get this kind of price point for quality in the region - as a local Napa can be quite pretentious. It was our 5 year anniversary and this was a solid addition to our celebration. We enjoyed a lunch at oxbow and fieldwork afterwards. Excellent hospitality and 1:1 - which again, DOES NOT HAPPEN. After reading a very complimentary review, we tasted their wines and were also quite impressed. The wine master was described in the review as having been a protege of Phillip Corallo-Titus, the winemaker for Chappellet - an excellent Napa Winery. Upon entering the tasting room, a friendly Charles McKahn greeted us and spent an hour or so pouring the wines and educating us. Chuck, as he is known to many, is the winemaker for the company. We tried about five wines, including a rose', a Chardonnay and three reds. There was obvious complexities on the nose as well as the tastes, and the wines were clearly a cut above most Livermore wineries we've tried. We bought four bottles, which we don't often at a first tasting. I definitely recommend trying their wines! read more

I can only say positive things about our visit to McKhan Family tasting room! This is a pretty new tasting room in the same strip as Occasio and a few others. The tasting room is beautiful and welcoming; the family works that tasting room and is super friendly; and the wines are quite tasty! We came in about 1/2 hour before close and they treated us like they had all day - no rushing, just friendly conversation. Can't beat the tasting fee either! We will be back for sure. read more

Kevin and Denise are simply amazing. Their collective wine knowledge coupled with outstanding customer service, along with some pretty incredible Rhone varietals makes this place a must go! I cannot overstate what a great place this is. The wines here are amazing and perhaps the best I've ever enjoyed. The winemaker is a young man with an obvious gift for creating spectacular wines. If this is how the start of his career is, I can't wait to taste what he will produce in the coming decades! This place was really great. We wandered in after another tasting room and were not disappointed. The space is comfortable and well-appointed, with friendly staff. My husband and I visited recently and had such a great experience! Denise and Kevin McKahn were there and poured for us. They were so knowledgeable about wine and it was so fun to taste in a comfortable atmosphere. They were such nice and genuine people. The tasting room is set up really nicely--love the style and feel of the place. All three wines were delicious! We ended up purchasing and enjoying a bottle with dinner that night. Great small family winery. The owner served us on a quiet Memorial Day and it was a very nice experience and the wine was very good we picked up a couple of bottles of Rose' of Grenache and Grenache. Yesterday, we went there had awesome time. This is one of the newest winery in Livermore. The other new winery is called Leisure Street. Both are awesome in term of wines and customer services. Tasting fee is $5 for 3 tasting. Will definitely come back. Wines: Chardonnay hint of citrus, lightly oak, pear. Zinfandel hint of spices, berries, medium tannis and semi-full bodied color. Our seated tasting at the McKahn Family Cellars was the highlight of our day, and we all felt very fortunate to have found this rare gem in the Livermore Valley! Our host, Marcia, was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We were also graced by Denise McKahn who visited with us and shared some great family stories about their history and the winery. All of the wines we tasted were very elegant, and everyone in our party selected excellent choices to take home and share with their Thanksgiving guests. I personally enjoyed every single wine and my favorites were the Rosé of Grenache, the Petite Sirah, and the Syrah, which surprised me because I usually don't like Syrah!
