The worst part is that my car was in perfect condition when I dropped it off--no unusual noises at all. When I picked it up, they told me there was a noise, suggesting it was the power steering pump and belt tensioner. They claimed they didn't notice it earlier because they couldn't test drive the car due to the coolant leak. However, the noise was obvious as soon as the car was turned on, a loud whining sound, and even more noticeable when accelerating. How could they have moved my car without noticing it, but suddenly it appears after they 'fixed' the coolant leak? Now they're saying it needs additional repairs costing $791, for issues that weren't there before. The front desk person, Joe, always says, 'I wasn't here when that happened,' but he was the one who quoted me the initial price and charged me the extra $100. He was also present when I returned to complain about the new noise and tried to cut me off, clearly not wanting other customers to hear our conversation. They told me to bring the car back the following week, supposedly to address the issue. After dropping it off, I received a call saying I needed to pay $791 for repairs to something that wasn't broken when I brought the car in. There's zero accountability here. I took my car to another mechanic, and they suspect the water pump was installed incorrectly, which could damage the tension belt--exactly what's wrong with my car now. They messed up my car, plain and simple. And from I read from previous reviews here, this is not first time they do shady stuff. Everyone beware!

I've been a customer here for almost a decade, but I am FIRMLY committed to no longer doing business with anywhere that charges this 3% fee instead of simply including it in their prices. Also, the 3% surcharge is not mentioned anywhere on the written estimate I was given, and wasn't point out until after the work was done and I was about to pay. Then, after I indicated that I wasn't happy, I was told by the guys working the desk that EVERY shop in the area is doing this. So I decided to call, and after 5 shops that are all within 1 mile of this shop, literally NONE of them are doing this. Don't get me wrong. I like the guys at Douglas. But Even more than that, I really don't like being lied to. I won't be going back.

Friday morning I called the dealer and they said they couldn't even look at it for three weeks. So here's the deal - our daughter was supposed to drive Sunday to stay with us in Tennessee for her two week Christmas break and we were watching her dog while she flew to meet friends in another state. Even if her vehicle could be fixed (bent lower control A-arm) somewhat quickly, the timing for her to still drive to be with us for Christmas was very tight. She is a teacher and she had to work Friday, so I was calling places from Tennessee. Another shop said they couldn't get to her vehicle for at least a week. I was thinking she would have to rent a car for two weeks to still make Christmas and her vacation she saved up for all d was looking forward to all year. The second shop recommended Gages Lake Auto & Light Truck. I called and spoke with Todd. He listened to our trouble. Then he said he'd go tow her vehicle from the dealer to Gages Lake and look at it and call me back. That same Friday at 2pm, he called and said they got the parts and would have our daughter's vehicle fixed by closing at 5:30!! She went with coworkers to an after school get together at a local restaurant and then got a ride to the shop where she paid and picked up her vehicle - all fixed! It was a Christmas miracle!!! She drove here (534 miles!) on Sunday as previously planned and everything worked out fine. With all the thanks to Gages Lake Auto!! Her friends and coworkers couldn't believe it and they all asked for the shop's name to put in their phones if they ever need service. We are very thankful for Gages Lake Auto! We will be back whenever we need something!

While changing my oil, Dan and the tech, Nikolai, were able to find some other issues including my brakes, egr valve gasket and camshaft plug. They were honest with me regarding what they found and gave me a decent price without tryin to run me up which I appreciated. Overall, they did a great job with my car and they didn't try to push unnecessary work to be done on my car. I will continue to use them and I would highly recommend everyone else to as well.
