Along with Brian, the estimator, she came up with an ingenious use of the existing small space for an expanded walk-in shower and vanity area. Zoriana created a CAD rendering of the project, so we were able to clearly visualize what it will look like. Monks met our budget, and we are excited to proceed with the job. After a year of being a loyal customer, this store has replaced every single unhealthy option I've had in my home. They sell zero waste products. What does that mean? Well I'm no expert and man I'm probably going to get some if this wrong. We went a couple weeks ago and I was just reflecting on how I had not written. A review because I've been so busy writing poetry and fiction but more on that later. Yeah, so turns out they have these big containers of things like soap, shampoo, detergent, housecleaning products and basically you bring in your own glass bottle or you purchase a bottle one time, and then instead of continuing to buy plastic bottles full of housecleaning products you just come back to this store and refill them. I could honestly walk here it's probably around a mile from my house and then I would be buying this stuff and not driving so my carbon footprint would be nothing. I feel like we've stopped talking about carbon footprints. We should probably start talking about that again. Also just lovely housewares. We bought these little towels to use instead of paper towels. I was skeptical but they've worked great. And I have stopped buying so many rolls of paper towels which I feel good about. Especially since I'm so bad about recycling. I'm sorry I just think it's a scam. We bought a really nice cutting board. I feel like we bought something else. The people who worked there were delightful. Very knowledgeable and friendly. Lots of nice houseware items. I feel like my reviews are usually funnier than this one but I have a sore throat this morning and we have company and I woke up and I'm like oh no I hope I don't have Covid because a month or so ago we had Covid. Home test said no Covid but you know how these ADHD brains can spiral. But I did want to mention my book which is more specifically talked about in my bio. Please buy a copy it's funnier than this review. Or read some other reviews most are hilarious. And if you're wondering if it's appropriate for me to bring up my book here just check out Mark's review of this place where he brings up his 3 year old twins. It's like we get it Mark you have 3 year old twins. Which of course does sound adorable. And the hyjinx. Just think of the hijinx. Wow I spelled hijynx 3 different ways and I'm getting no autocorrect suggestions but apparently all of them are wrong. Anyways check out this adorable store. As adorable as Mark's kids.

When he came to the house, he was able to personally check the situation right away that afternoon and has given us his input, in which he was really very helpful to our situation. Since the damage affected the second floor as well as the first floor, We also decided to do the renovations for the 2nd floor bathroom/living room as well as the entire kitchen on the first floor including 1st floor main living room space. The process from getting rid of the damaged areas, demolition and to the renovation were consistent, efficient and done with quality work in mind. His staff/workers were very respectful, friendly and really knowledgeable on their craft. Special mention to Steve, the project manager! And to Matt and Jason , plus the painter and the tiler that are so meticulous with their work! And the good thing to point out is that Michael will work with your budget, your design ideas and input and will also give you suggestions/pros/cons that will help you decide on design plan, materials and products to be used on your project. The ability to have that kind of communication between you and the contractor is important to make the project a success. It was definitely a big project on the house but it's all worth it. He was so knowledgeable about kitchen design, bathroom design, and tiles. He helped us choose the perfect tiles, cabinets and countertop for our kitchen. With Express Union Tile, you truly get a one-stop shop. They put together a design for the renovation, came out to do measurements, connected us with a contractor, and sold us the tiles, cabinets, countertop and handles. They go above and beyond. Mike personally made sure that everything was done to our satisfaction even going to the extent of coming to our home multiple times to oversee parts of the project. We were so impressed with his work ethic, calm demeanor and attention to detail. Here are some specific things we loved about our experience with Express Union Tile: High-quality products: The tiles, cabinets, countertop and bathroom vanity that we chose from Express Union Tile are beautiful and durable. Their large showroom makes it easy to find the products you want. Their prices were always more than fair, reasonable and competitive. Fast and efficient service: Mike and his team were able to get everything we needed for our kitchen project faster than we even thought possible. Everything arrived on-time or earlier, which of course, reduced the stress level for the project. Excellent customer service: Mike and his team were always available to answer our questions and address our concerns. They were also very patient with us, even when we changed our minds a few times! Overall satisfaction: We are so happy with the results of our kitchen remodel, and we highly recommend Express Union Tile to anyone looking for a reliable and professional kitchen redesign company. We would definitely use Express Union Tile again for any future tile projects and think you should too. They even came to our house twice to measure everything to make sure the design worked and the size of kitchen cabinets to make sure our built in refrigerator and pantry cabinets were the right sizes. HOWEVER, after sale and delivery the nightmare started! Our carpenter showed up to start the project and looked at the design that Express Union Tile gave us, and the design was missing a whole section above the stove! Then came the pantry installation. He noticed that the design they gave us was missing an entire floor to ceiling panel! So mid project I had to call them to show them the flaw in the design..... of course they didn't apologize and instead charged me to have new panels ordered. We had no choice but to pay. THEN, after we finished the pantry installation, the refrigerator came and the guys couldn't get it to be flush with the cabinets. Turns out that the depth of panels they ordered for us was actually less than the size of the panels that was on their design and what we paid for! I called them multiple times and even spoke with the owner, Mike. He didn't accept any responsibility and blamed our carpenter, wall, and pretty much everyone except themselves! We're now having to call the cabinet manufacturer, Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs, etc to recover.

This was the second time I've used Monk's for painting projects at my home in Morris Plains, and…read moreonce again I was extremely happy with the results. The first project, several years ago, involved painting multiple interior rooms and crown molding. Most recently, I hired them to paint three new structural porch columns and my front door. While that may sound like a straightforward job, it really wasn't. Black structural columns are not something you see every day, so preparation, product selection, and attention to detail were critical to getting the look I wanted and ensuring the finish would hold up to the elements. Bob came out to provide the estimate. He was professional, easy to work with, and, most importantly, took the time to listen to what I was trying to achieve and the concerns I had about the project. He was also able to get the work scheduled within the same week. I worked closely with Ron, who I believe was the lead painter on the job. He was incredibly knowledgeable and detail-oriented. I supplied the INSL-X primer recommended for fiberglass columns and discussed paint options with him. He agreed with the approach and helped ensure the project was done the right way rather than just the fastest way. The work took two full days and exceeded my expectations. The crew took great care to protect my brand-new porch, covering the decking and railings thoroughly so there was no risk of paint getting where it didn't belong. What really stood out was the follow-up. Both Bob and Ron checked in independently after the work was completed to make sure I was satisfied. They also made it clear that if any issues came up, they would come back and make it right. The pricing was fair, the workmanship was excellent, and the customer service was outstanding from start to finish. It's refreshing to work with a company that still takes pride in doing quality work and standing behind it. I plan to use Monk's again next year for additional interior painting projects and would not hesitate to recommend them.
