We recently celebrated my girlfriend's 50th birthday, and it did not disappoint! We hosted the party with approximately 60 guests at McGonigle's Irish Pub in Kalamazoo, and they were the most accommodating and helpful team to work with--from the manager to our assigned server and caterer. They allowed our party planning group to completely transform the space with linens, a DJ, and even a photo booth complete with a couch. They also noticed our boujee party décor and thoughtfully went out and purchased serving plates that matched the theme. We truly appreciated that level of attention to detail and the extra effort they made to help bring our vision to life. The food was delicious and exactly as expected. Our server and caterer were attentive, efficient, and always one step ahead--no one ever had to wait for a drink. They also did a fantastic job keeping tables cleared and tidy so everyone could relax and enjoy the celebration. Working with the McGonigle's team was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. If I could give them 100 stars, I would! They are truly a hidden gem in Kalamazoo, and I would highly recommend them for any special event or gathering. read more

Atmosphere is friendly, comfortable bar, nice TVs for sports and great service. Beyond just bar food they have an extensive menu. Homemade ranch is a great addition to anything. The Texas toast garlic bread is worth getting the dinner portion. read more

What a find. Kind of hidden . The waitress was do friendly and helpful. We went for lunch on a Friday but excited to try a breakfast

We arrived Sunday afternoon after a long day of travel to get to Kalamazoo. This place is in a strip mall with a nondescript front. We would not have found it except I saw the sign as we started to drive by. The wait staff were pleasant and helpful when selecting tasty adult beverages. The food was outstanding pub fare. The prices were more than reasonable. With an appetizer I ended up taking half of my meal back to the hotel for dinner the next night. read more

I'm soooooo sad!!! This is my favorite restaurant to get a Reuben & French Fries from when I'm in town visiting my parents. I was just in town 3 weeks ago and the fries were delicious!! The Reuben is still the best but the fries were so disappointing!!! Called up and they said nothing has changed she offered to refund but not worth it. A complete anti-customer vibe here. 3rd time in a row the bartender was a joke. Walk in sit down, get ignored for 5 minutes. Then she has to go out to her car to get her cigarettes. As I sit?! The smelt basket sounded delicious, but I won't beg for decent service. This place can take lesson from Louie's,RJs or Brewsters as to how to show hospitality the the paying customer! It was okay. We were told they had amazing fish n chips. It was a long wait (it happens but it was about 45 min ticket times which is pretty slow but again, it happens). Waitress was nice. Best bar food in Kalamazoo.... Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Nice sized portions and reasonably priced too. Bar area gets a bit loud, so I opt to sit on other side of wall. Homemade corned beef hash for breakfast, including 3 eggs is very good. For dinner, the onion rings are a great side dish as well. Saturday breakfast was delicious. We sat on the dining room side. Lindsey was our terrific server. She kept our cups full and our table neat. We had biscuits and gravy with eggs over easy. Perfect. I loved my corned beef hash with crispy outside but hot & soft inside. It was a bit noisy; voices carry in the room. Choices of tables or booth was nice for those with mobility issues. I just recently stopped in for a drink with a coworker after helping him with some errands solely based on location alone (between my place and his). Upon exiting the vehicle I really was second guessing my decision because McG didn't look appealing from the outside but being a Yooper at heart, I had to go in. Not bad. Not bad at all. Sort of a mix between a dive bar and an irish pub. The people inside were nice, bartenders were easy on the eyes, and beer was cold. Pretty much met all my requirements for a local hideout. Next time I will try the food but I did glance at the menu which seemed reasonably priced and had quite a bit to offer. Till we meet again McGonigles. read more

I have been to this pub several times. I really enjoyed the mozzarella sticks, the pretzel bites, and the fish and chips. Also, the waitstaff are very friendly and efficient. I also like the selection of European and American beers. Don't judge this establishment by the fact it is in a chain of different shops; the interior is way better. Anyway, if you ever crave fish and chips or a shepherd's pie, or any other European-style item on the menu, give McGonigle's on East Main a try. read more

My daughter and I came here for dinner. When we arrived at our table, there was still crumbs left on it. I order the prime rib and my daughter ordered a turkey burger with a side house salad. Our waitress came out and told us that they were out of prime rib so I order steak and a loaded potato. Our food arrived and instead of giving my daughter her salad they brought out fries. I cut into my steak and it was still red and raw. I asked it to be sent back and when it did, I couldn't even eat it. It was way over cooked. The only reason I give it one star is for the fact that they didn't charge me for my meal. read more

Good food, terrible service. I don't know how many times our server messed up several of our orders. She was even snarky about the things we wanted like marina for our mozzarella sticks and once she turned around and shook her head at one of the people I was with because she's allergic to onion and she told her no onions... so I can't say I'd jump on the wagon and head back right away. This is a quaint little bar. It is hard to claim it is "Irish" but the food was decent and the staff was friendly.

They have pretty decent food here and decent drink prices but rarely drink specials it seems. I had to take a few stars off because the bartender used her fingers to pull out the olives for my Bloody Mary. Not too appetizing. This place definitely seems to have a lot of regulars. read more

This place has a limited amount of overpriced beers. They claim to have their own micro brew called mcgonigles ale but its Arcadia brewery's anglers ale with a different label. They wont serve people if they look tired. ( everyone who is black and just got out of work) Last week they served me and I was completely sober then they took my beer away because I was tired. I also heard the owners using racial slurs when they were referring to the last time they took someone's drink away. read more

Our ladies golf league had our end of year banquet here. Later discovered that another golf league would be there the same night! The wait staff managed to serve 2 golf leagues of 22 members each in record time. The food was hot, the drinks were cold. The food selections we were provided were excellent as was the food, and you can't beat the price. Will definitely do this again! read more

Normally we love Tuesday evening with the wings and fries special. Tonight though the waitress made everything sour. I asked some questions regarding the menu and she just replied, I don't know, but I don't think so. We ordered the wings and fries and the mile high meatloaf with soup. We began our game of spades as we waited for our food. The food arrived, wings, fries and mile high meatloaf. After I began eating the scrumptious meatloaf, she brings my bowl of soup. No explanation as to why its arrival was after my plate of food, rather than prior. We continued to enjoy our food. Both of us had too much to consume so we asked for boxes, and please a container for the soup. We waited, and waited. In the meantime I took a taste of the soup. Mushy noodles, all veggies were mushy, like it had sat in a pot all day. Still no containers, and no sightings of our waitress, so I got up and got us two boxes. We packaged our food. She appears, and says, oh yeah, you wanted boxes. I pointed out we got them already. Told her there was no need for a container for the soup and explained why. She shrugged her shoulders, took the bowl and left. Wow!!! She brought the bill we paid and left. No have a nice evening, or come back again, nothing was uttered. read more

Mcgonigles is in a terrible location. The beer is overpriced and their house brew isn't even theirs. Its Arcadia brewery's anglers ale. Arcadia is 99% better. Actually 100% better.The food is greasy and gross. The staff arent too bright. I saw them not serve black people and the servers excuse was that the black man looked tired. I could tell he wasn't drunk. I will never go to this racist establishment again and I urge everyone to avoid that place...especially if you are not white and like good food and and atmosphere without lingering negative energy read more
