Less than 5 minutes later we were lead to a table, not even time to order a drink! We shared everything. Ordered cocktails to begin with. They were ok, two different old fashioned drinks. We tried to order bone marrow, scallops, tuna tataki and a Caesar salad as starters. They were already out of the bone marrow and scallops. It's a holiday, you know there are reservations... what?! Poor management and planning!! They recommended the lamb kidneys... never had them before, super gross. I'll never do that again. It smelled like urine! We ordered the burger and 14 oz sirloin to share, medium rare on the steak. Polenta fries, and mashed potatoes. The polenta fries were outstanding! The burger was delicious! Smokey flavor, it was great. It came with huge steak fries, I prefer shoestring. The steak was not tender. Had a better steak sandwich at the Morrison for lunch. All in all, I will not be going back nor recommending this place. The wine I ordered never arrived, our water was never refilled. In fact, after the food arrived, we never saw anyone again!! When the check came with an obligatory 12.5% tip I missed it and paid. Once I noticed, I flipped out!! This was the worst service ever!! I double check tipping culture in Ireland before I complain. 10% is good for good service and bad service is ok to leave zero tip. So I asked for it back. They gave me credit for the tip but not the tax on tip. Unimpressed. Won't go again.

Also to top it all some other customers who ordered the same thing after us received and ate their meals before we were even able to get ours. I would never want any of my friends to experience this since it tainted my experience in Ireland - avoid if you can :)

Everything looked classy but not intimidating which is why I called it cozy. As a tourist to the area we were dressed casually but we felt comfortable here. Washrooms are clean which is always important. Overall I'd say the food quality & service were worth it. It's across the street from the Gresham hotel so it was very convenient. We had a great experience here. If we ever go to Dublin again I would definitely eat here again!

However, Searsons goes way beyond traditional pub grub. I had a gnocchi dish, with roasted tomatoes, and a little melted cheese, that was delicious. My wife had a roast beef dinner, that was massive. My son had traditional fish 'n chips, so you can go the expected route as well. The pub has their own brews on tap, as well as well known beer and cider brands. I should not forget to mention that the Irish coffee here is perfect. Finally, the service was attentive and very friendly. On a Saturday night, the pub was full and hopping with Men's and Women's Rugby, plus a Premier League game, on the telly. Very fun environment!

While we came early enough to partake in the full menu, it was refreshing to note that a late-night pizza menu is also available (and the way that boat ride went, that was a closer possibility than I think we'd like to admit). I was able to order one of my favorite foods, linguine pasta, and have a couple of decent drafts to wash it down. Service was slow but that's to be expected on a crowded evening. We were surprised to see the check in $USD (no choice of currency offered) rather than in Euros (the coin of the realm), with a 8.75% "exchange rate markup fee" tacked on to the total. We weren't given a choice of currency as stated on the bill (see picture). I've never seen this done elsewhere, seems like a petty way to make a bit of extra money from unsuspecting tourists. We were tired and the place was crowded so we paid and left without comment. But that unwarranted currency fee didn't leave a good taste in our mouths at all.
