The atmosphere is nice, it's a long and narrow restaurant. The service is friendly and good. This is mainly a steak restaurant. The steaks are nice and affordable in my opinion. Steaks are good quality, cooked to perfection, there are three main cuts, rib eye, sirloin and skirt steak I think? The prices are around €16-24. The sides are great, usually around €4-6. Drinks are not so bad. And desserts and appetizers are nice. The only disappointment was the burger, the burgers are hyped and when I tried it, it was not bad, but not the best either as some said. Wow! Lesson learned. Listen to the locals when it comes to picking a restaurant. After reading about Featherblade it was one of our first stops in Dublin. Quality grass-fed Irish beef and local produce expertly made with a twist. Their signature dish is the featherblade steak which reminds me of flank steak in the US. The steak comes with a sauce and a small salad. I got chimichurri and my husband got bernaise. We also ordered harissa broccoli. Our appetizer was a crab tostada made with crab caught off the coast of Ireland. We also ordered a couple of cocktails. Everything was wonderful. I'd recommend it to anyone. read more

My friend and I had dinner at Featherblade on our first night in Dublin last week, and, while it wasn't a bad meal, I was a little underwhelmed. I had the ribeye, while my friend had the Picanha steak. We also shared the creamed spinach, truffle mac and cheese, and grilled broccoli with garlic, chili, and dukkah. We had some wine and a Basque cheesecake. The highlight of the meal was the Picanha steak, and the dessert was good. But we didn't love any of the sides. The space is cool - casual and yet a little swanky. The service was pretty good, but they were really busy and seemed it. Overall, it wasn't my favorite meal of the trip, but I love the concept, but I'd be happy to give it another shot if I'm back in Dublin sometime soon! read more

By far the best restaurant we visited in Dublin - Great Food, Great Ambiance, Great Prices, and everything came out quickly! This is review after reopening has started in restaurants after the height of Covid. So a vaccination check was done upon entry. A very nice and trendy place to have dinner in downtown Dublin, recommend making a booking. We drove into town on Saturday night and can report to you one of the easiest parking was Setanta garage, about a block away. Street parking is near impossible. Their signature Featherblade steak which was ordered by two of us at the table was perfectly cooked as if by sous vide it was even throughout with a perfect charring. My wife got the Miso Hangar which also tasty as expected in a steakhouse I had the Fried Chicken, Curry Leaf Mayo which was looks like plain chicken tenders until you cut into it and dip it it with the sauce and it all comes together beautifully. I also had the dressed crab on toasted focaccia. Crab was nice, fluffy and delicate and on a toasted yet soft focaccia We also shared several sides like Truffle Mac & cheese, Creamed Spinach, and Charred Broccoli, Garlic, Chilli. I hate to write tepid reviews, but this place certainly warrants one. We were looking forward to our meal here and hoped the poor reviews we had read were unjustified. For us, the food missed the mark, overall. We ordered crab tostada and croquette appetizers. Tostadas were edible, but croquette was too runny and rich. Steaks were unimpressive: tough ribeyes and picanhas, except for the one picanha which (ironically) was overcooked. Side sauces were disappointing: both the peppercorn and chimichurri were not quite right, flavor-wise. Sweet potato wedges were great, and companion enjoyed mac and cheese. Broccoli was over-seasoned and sauced - would recommend requesting plain broccoli. Desserts were inconsistent: cheesecake was nice; however, toffee pudding disappointed. Service was not what we expected, given others' reviews. Poor descriptions were provided of food (relating to ingredients in tostada and steak cuts). Two of us barely touched our steaks, and this was ignored by waitstaff. Overall, really wished we had skipped this place. read more

Week before Christmas restaurants often only offer a 'festive' menu which tends to be a rip off. Featherblade bucked the trend by offering a prix fixee menu that was very good value indeed. And the food was pretty good too. My croquettes starter was excellent. I had opted for a rib eye steak but they'd run out. They had also run out of our preferred Pinot Grigio wine. A bit disappointing but was possibly due to the impending restaurant curfew so we forgave them. My steak was pretty good if not particularly memorable. The live music was a nice addition, a touch of Ry Cooder I thought so quite acceptable. Would return. Recommended. read more

I initially requested a burger but they only option is to have it cooked more than I like so we both orders steak's medium rare, they were cooked perfectly. We ordered 3 side dishes, chips, creamy spinach, broccoli cooked with chilies and almonds (absolutely to die for). I had a Spanish red, lovely. If you're over near Trinity College and are looking for a good deal on a steak, then Featherblade is your ticket. During my 3 weeks there, most restaurants that had steaks were for dinner and started at €35. Although the menu is simple, what is served is done very well. I opted for the Miso Hanger and added on some shrimp for fun. The steak and shrimp were both cooked perfectly to order. The Miso glaze was a tad salty for my taste but still delicious. The restaurant is long and narrow with tables on both sides of the aisle. I imagine space is at a premium around this area. Service was friendly too. Lunch was bustling, and I'd definitely come back for dinner. The food portion was just right and the overall experience was enjoyable and a great value for your money. read more

On my last full day in Dublin, I had decided that I had wanted a bougie steak dinner, unfortunately I did not have the foresight to make a reservation at a nearby Michelin starred restaurant, spontaneity and all. For a last minute choice, Featherblade was not a bad option save for one thing. Unbeknownst to me, Featherblade had a rather romantic vibe. I'm all for a romantic restaurant every now and then but when you're a solo traveler, eating without a companion can get a bit sad. Thankfully I had plenty of good food and drink to keep me company! My date for the night was a delicious Lavender Gin and Tonic with some grapefruit in the glass. I felt as if it was a bit too heavy handed with the lavender but still managed to be tasty. I ended up muddling the grapefruit for a better citrus note and it definitely balanced out the drink a bit more. For an appetizer I opted for the Ham Hock Croquettes. Three of them accompanied a nice crisp salad topped with a dried apple crisp. The contrast between the salty and sweet elements of this dish was worth all the jealous looks from the tables next to me (perks of eating alone: appetizer is all mine!) As delicious as the Ham Hocks were, i was especially impressed with the accompanied salad, garnished with a dried mandolin sliced apple. It was sliced so thin that I was unable to teak what it was, I had to ask my waitress (she looked at me like i was crazy). My gluttonous entree was the Featherblade's namesake, the feather blade steak. I ordered mine with a béarnaise sauce accompaniment and some mac and cheese for good measure. I was glad that I had ordered the extra sauce. I had felt as if the steak was missing a bit of flavor, a pinch of finishing salt would have been nice. When I first saw the menu, I didn't think that I could get full of a 9oz steak, but the sides and appetizer definitely filled me up. Although I was craving a porterhouse or something that highlighted Irish beef a bit more, Featherblade was definitely a solid steakhouse for the price. read more

Amazing dinner. Everything was excellent. My boyfriend and I tried both types of steak and both were fantastic. We also got the sides of broccoli and truffle mac & cheese. I don't know which I liked best but it was a nice variety to have a bit of everything. Great value, definitely worth the price. And for dessert they had a chocolate & peanut mouse with creme de leche. It was probably one of the best things I've ever eaten. Every bite was decadent and divine. I think at this stage everyone is familiar with what Featherblade does and believe me: that they do well. Both our steaks were grilled perfectly to our liking, the wine choices were decent, I only should have picked a different side to go with the steak: I went for truffle mac n cheese and sadly they were just... meh. The service was great, really friendly without being imposing, it's easy to see why this casual restaurant is so popular. It's been a while since I've walked out of a restaurant in Dublin and thought to myself, "that's a new go-to." A go-to as in somewhere I know I could bring a whole mixture of people at different times and it would always be a hit. It's not too fancy, not too casual, the price point is incredible, and the food is top notch. I also thought to myself, how the f*&c did I not think of this? Steak at a reasonable price. It actually hasn't been done yet. At least not in this casual-chic type style. Such a simple idea - two or three choices for starters, mains and desert. Comfortable and stylish surroundings but still zero fuss. And a price tag that ensures it doesn't have to be a special occasion to eat there. The lads themselves as well are welcoming and super-friendly. You can see they've put their all into it and it's just lovely to see. I will be back and I'll be bringing others along. Located on a deconstructed Dawson Street sits featherblade. Great to see a simple menu for a change and even better to see the forgotten cuts of steak put center stage. The crispy lamb starter was lovely and served with piccalilli or at least an interpretation of picalalli but very good all the same. The flank steak was cooked perfectly and as tender as some top end cuts that other restaurants charge 4times as much. Not a big desert fan but the beetroot Panna cotta looked intriguing and tasted even better but probably not going to be everyone favourite. The beer selection is limited and woukd suggest they look to adding a few other options. Small but good wine selection. No coffee as of yet but machine due soon. No real fault here at featherblade and I will be back. Vegetarians need not apply.... read more

WOW! This is easily a 10 out of 5 stars place! By chance my wife and myself stumbled across this restaurant last night. They had only opened a few days ago so we were happy to try it out. You'll be greeted with an incredible smile and welcome when you come in. The staff are brilliant and they really know there stuff with regards to the steak and wines on offer. Steak. Yes, I said steak. These guys have done something I've not come across in Dublin yet. They offer you a choice of two steaks. Both cuts I've never heard of before, the Featherblade and the special that night the Hanger. My wife had the Featherblade and I had the Hanger. Wow! We were not disappointed. The steaks are marinated for 24 hours and then slowly sous vide over another 6 to 8 hours and then flash fried before it comes out to you on a plate! They were both some of the best steaks I've ever had, incredibly tender and juicy, they were melt in your mouth good! we ordered a side of chips each and we shared the Whiskey Peppercorn sauce! it all just worked perfect. I nearly forgot the ribs we had for starters! 2 huge ribs packed with fall off the bone tender meat, cooked in the same way as the steak - delicious! Warm Doughnuts with Passion Fruit (not sure it really has a place in this dessert, but yummy anyway), Creme Anglaise and the best part for me was the Salted Caramel! OMG! everything is baked in-house, you could tell from how fresh and soft the doughnuts were! They also have some amazing cocktails on the menu, the Berry Fizz is really really nice! Usually when you see cocktails on the menu you thing €€€ but for €7.50 its great value. And to finish off what was already an amazing meal the owner came over with a round of drinks on the house for us! Now that is service! Great guys, great story and amazing food. read more

A new steak restaurant on Dawson Street you say? I'm there! Tried here with my brother a couple of weeks ago before a gig and we were raging we didn't have more time to sit and enjoy a proper three course meal as everything looked so good. At Featherblade they specialise in unusual cuts of meat, the namesake itself being their centre-piece. Our server explained to us that the meat is marinated for hours on end before being slow-cooked and then finished off to your liking. The menu is small but well-balanced, with just enough choice to give you a little bit of a dilemma. We both opted for the featherblade with some beef dripping chips and truffle mac n' cheese to share. The steak was really tender, cooked perfectly and was a fairly decent size too. The chips were really tasty but the mac n' cheese really was the winner for me, I would literally eat it by the bucket! I really wanted to try the squash arancini to start but we were pushed for time so had to go without. I did see somebody else get them though and they looked delicious. We shared a chocolate and almond tart for dessert and it was yummy too, really rich and creamy! This place is a must-try for me. I haven't given it 5 stars as I've had better steak in Dublin but for what they do I can't knock them. So how much did it all cost? For two steaks, two sides, two beers and one dessert it came in at just under €50. Not bad for a really good meal, the steaks particularly good value at €13 each. The staff are really friendly, the decor is nice and simple and it's perfectly placed in the heart of town. Stop what your doing and get your ass down to this new heavenly place! Stumbled on this great find, only 2 days open... Hot New Business, yes it is! From the moment we stepped in to the time we left, the staff were super friendly, offering great information on the very simple but amazingly well thought out menu. Featherblade is doing steak, fantastically well and when I say steak we're talking about them using the most unusual cuts of the meat so their show stopper is the Featherblade Steak but special on was the Hanger steak... Both for €13 each, I kid you not... It is the best value and most delicious steak I've had in such a long time. Natalie who took care of us explained, the cuts are unusual but if prepped well, all parts of the cow/beef can be made so juicy and tender so these are marinated over night and suvee the steaks for like 8hrs or so, and then pan seared before being served on your plate. The simplistic approach to their menu is awesome it means all the love from the kitchen are invested into a particular thing and by god, you sense the love on your plate. So we kicked it off with the beef ribs for starter which was on a specials board, the meat was slow cooked to perfection, melted off the bone and flavoured really well; they were big, juicy and tender! Mains, the hubby went for the Hanger steak and I opted for their menu show stopper, the Featherblade, the idea was we would swap it up and so we both got to try each, adding on fries and their whiskey peppercorn sauce it was truly a foodie's dream. Both steaks revealed different textures but both were, 100% delicious. A beautiful plate of food... Featherblade, what a brave move but you are bringing something awesome and new to the Dublin Food Scene and I applaud you! Tossing over dessert, could we fit it in... Before I knew it I was ordering the donuts which are created for 2 people to share, the donuts are made in house along with their dips, the mini donuts came with passionfruit curd, creme anglaise plus salted caramel. Holy devine, let's all just take a moment to salute that salted caramel dip - yumtastic! We also had Jamie, one of the business owners come by our table with a surprise complimentary drink for us, so using our earlier order they surprised us with a red wine for the hubby and another one of their refreshing Berry Fizz cocktails. He talked about how just opening and how quickly they've got the place up and running plus also really keen to get our opinion what we liked, didn't like (the great playlist... ha ha) and areas for them to improve... I swear, for a place only open 2 days they've nailed it and I wish them all the best. I've been already raving about the place and spreading the word, we'll certainly be back regularly. Only one slight, niggly thing from me... the bench seating is great and makes awesome use of your space but if they tables were spread out a little more. I think diners are always a little uncomfortable trying to squeeze between little gaps and as winter sets in we'll be contending with bulk coats/jackets and sense some embarrassing knocking stuff off your neighbours table... I want to write a One Star review because I want to slow down the popularity of Featherblade- I know in just a couple of months its going to be impossible to get a reservation here. Great location. Great (simple) menu. And Great staff. If you were trying to find fault with this place you might wonder why it is so dark inside but even that works so well. The menu couldn't be simpler- pick from two steak options and pick a couple of sides. The starters weren't on our menu but our server / owner of the restaurant did a great job of explaining the options. I highly recommend trying the chicken starter. Although personally have never heard of a featherblade steak I would definitely buy it again. This restaurant is up there with some of the best steaks I have had in Dublin and the best part is that it is a third of the cost of anywhere else. You can get a great meal experience for €20. We did have some wine at the table which again was super reasonable. The cocktail menu looked good but unfortunately at this visit we didn't have any. We did speak with the owner and his personality certainly added to our experience. Can't wait to go back. read more

I'm really glad to have visited Featherblade this week as I predict it will start becoming difficult to get a table soon once word spreads! This place is going by the motto of "do one thing and do it well" - it has a single permanent main course, the 9 oz featherblade steak, with one other steak cut (the hanger) on the menu the night we ate there. The menu is simple but it works as everything on it that we tried was done so well. My starter of slow-cooked braised beef croquettes were really tender and flavoursome. The highlight had to be the main event, the featherblade. The meat was beautifully cooked and insanely good value for €13. We also ordered a selection of sides, all of which were good but particularly the truffle mac and cheese and the tenderstem broccoli. Our waitress was also very friendly and attentive and knew the menu really well, providing some good side recommendations. The only fault I could point out is with the restaurant layout - the tables are very tightly packed and it could do with some more space. Overall a great concept and really well-executed.
