The best of the best is a high honor to achieve in Brian's burger world. I visited on a Sunday late afternoon. The sunday after Pride Day. It was quiet, and there were many open tables. The servers were both really nice, and the food was cooked perfectly and delivered swiftly. I can't say specifically why I can't give it a 5/5; my burger standards are high. It was right up there knocking on the door to a perfect score. To each their own, but it *just* missed the mark.

Ordered a double cheeseburger, and hand cut fries, with mayo, mustard, and onions. Honestly, I would put this burger up against anything I've had in the States. Cooked perfectly, cheese melted well, and just delicious. The hand cut fries were very good as well. I know Five Guys has invaded Belfast, but Bunsen cooks!

The flavor and the char on the meat is kinda nice, but the meat is cooked to hell and dry as a desert... that's desert, not dessert. The sauce had to do that work, and even with 'extra sauce' requested, it was not enough make up for the dry burger. Staff is friendly, but to my palette, the food was barely acceptable and reminiscent of the pre foil-wrapped burgers you get at a hospital or school cafeteria. There's a time and place for that type of burger, but not at these prices.

It's nice to find a place that has big windows for looking out at a gorgeous day and also patio seating for those who want to feel the sunshine on their face. I decided on the tempura-battered cod fish tacos and they were really good, especially the chipotle ranch sauce (or whatever creamy spicy something was on them!).

Trying to work out what I liked better, the service or the food?! It's a tough call…read more Let me talk you through it. I walked up the dark stairs to be greeted by one of the most friendly waitresses you are ever likely to meet. She sat me at a table of four even though I was on my own which made me feel less of a loser. I sat down and browsed the menu made up of various burgers. I was going to go for the double cheese burger when the waitress came over and showed me their offer. A double cheese burger, fries and a drink for £8! Unreal! I obviously went for that deal, helpfully guided by the waitress. The food took about 10 minutes to come, the chips were served on a tray and the burger dame covered in foil. Packed lunch style! The chips were deep fried but still had a potatoey consistency. The burger was American style just the way I like it. A soft bun and a tender burger patty with plenty of fresh salad. Incredible! The decor is dive style! Think graffiti! They have an alcohol licence too so if you fancy a beer and burger knock yourself out! Easy five stars, for service alone. This is my kind of place, can't wait to go back with some company!

I sort of found it strange that this place opened around the time that Five Guys appeared in Victoria Square, given that it has basically the exact same menu as Five Guys, with the exact same idea of it being a sort of "build your own" with as many toppings as you want. Kind of felt like they were trying to ride the coat-tails of Five Guys, but unfortunately they don't seem to be doing a very good job of it. It has the same high price as Five Guys (for 2 people, one having a double burger with bacon, the other having a single burger with cheese, some angry fries to share and two milkshakes, it was £24), but unfortunately it doesn't quite have as much of an appeal in terms of the quality of the food. The burgers are quite dry, they're extremely messy, which isn't a great thing if you're trying not to spill it all over yourself, the redeemer is the crack sauce which is pretty great. The fries are strange, they're the same quality as you would get from a good chip shop, but I don't think they goes very well with the whole American restaurant aesthetic they're going for. Really, if you're wanting to support local, eat here. If you're wanting to have something a bit more put together but for the exact same price, go eat at Five Guys.

I've had my fair share of memorable burgers from coast to coast in America, but just glancing at a picture of the beef shin burger transports me back across the pond to the Barking Dog. I remember the few days I spent in Belfast fondly and of the many memories, my meal at the Barking Dog was a definite highlight. In a rather quaint and charming neighborhood, I took a nice short stroll from my Airbnb and came across this gem of an establishment and decided I had to check it out. I had a nice beer to start, and it wasn't a Guinness because stouts aren't my thing, but whatever it was I remember it being excellent and local. Undoubtedly you could make this place a regular haunt and there is no shortage of drinks and food options to make this a go-to for a date, celebration, or a quick meal. The staff are welcoming, kind, and helpful and the general atmosphere is chill. The food for me was ethereal - a burger isn't just a burger here and what you get when you bite into the beef shin burger is a little slice of Heaven. Moist and tender are a given but the taste is just so divine with the caramelized onion, cheddar, and horseradish mayo melding into an union of perfection. It's hard not to describe one of the most memorable meals of my life in such hyperbole but the vivid recall I have of this particular place is uncanny and merits all the praise I can heap upon the fine folks that run the place. If timing had worked out, I would have eaten as meals here as I could have but I'll thank my lucky stars for at least giving me one opportunity to eat such a wonderful burger at such a wonderful eatery. A+ and a definite must when visiting Belfast.

First there's so much that's right with the place. Their attention to detail is magnificent. The look and feel of the interior is modern industrial, they've really focussed on the decor and it shows. The presentation of the food is another element that they've obviously taken care over. As an example the mushrooms on my large fry were in a separate ramekin to avoid the juice dampening everything. Price wise it's relatively cheap, my large fry was only £6. So here's what's wrong...firstly, I ordered a flat white, it came and tasted like milky water. That put a bad taste in my mouth from the outset, excuse the pun! Next up the food came and although well presented it just wasn't great tasting, the bacon was overcooked and the staff didn't ensure we had sauces etc. In defence of Sozo, it's only been open for a few weeks and it's inevitable that they are going to experience teething problems. I spoke to the staff and they said this was the busiest day since opening so perhaps that explains it. As mentioned there's so much to love about Sozo (Draft Beer, desserts, a great menu) but my experience just wasn't top notch! So I'm giving 3 stars but hopefully when I try dinner in a few weeks we can add a few stars!

We were surprised at how busy Sozo actually was given that it had just opened. At one point every seat in the restaurant was taken and when people left the seats were taken almost immediately. This may have been the reason for the 3 star review. I ordered a caramel latte which was nice, served in a good sized jug/jar although the flat white that we ordered wasn't great. I ordered pancake stacks, bacon and maple syrup. The top pancake was nicely toasted but the two underneath were cremated, actually uneatable. The bacon was also over cooked. Although, the presentation was great, the syrup was served in the Lyles Golden Syrup tin which was quite cool. Sozo has just recently opened so I understand this may have been just teething problems and I would maybe go back in a few months time and maybe update my review then. At the minute it's 3 stars which isn't bad but isn't great!

One of only a few in Ireland ER's is already proving to be a big hit on the Lisburn Road. Yesterday when I paid a visit it was absolutely jam packed. But the pin striped, attentive staff managed to deal with the hoards of burger lover admirably. The whole restaurant follows the USA diner theme, red tiles, bold brash posters with American slogans and red leather booths. Right down to even the tiniest details this place is perfect - they have mini duke boxes (50's style) where you can pay 20p for your choice of song. Right on to the important bit, the food. The menu is full of tempting delights but I went for the Smokestack burger upon a recommendation. I have to say I was not disappointed! The Burger bun was soft and fluffy, the burger was meaty and the extras combination were sublime. The best part of the burger was definitely the 'secret' sauce - sort of like a vinegary mayo. I'm underselling it with that description. Burgers will set you back £6.45 but they are not small and you certainly won't be hungry after eating them. I loved Eddie Rocket's - the only tiny thing I would mention is that it took a while for us to get our food which made us rush eating it. I will put this down to how busy it was. The place certainly isn't understaffed. Top marks from me - there's so much on the menu to sample that I will have to make a trip back soon!
