He had a turkey club and I had a turkey avocado sandwich on multigrain. For sides we had cucumber salad, potato salad, and mac & cheese. A word of surprise, the potato salad is served warm, but it was really tasty. The only disappointment was the mac & cheese, which was grainy and soup-like with very overcooked noodles in it. They had no discernible shape and almost seemed like egg noodles oddly enough. We enjoyed our drinks, sandwiches and salads very much.

Followed by a Monte Cristo. The bread was so light and fluffy. The saltiness of the meat with the sweetness of the bread and sugar with a little spread of raspberry preserves delighted the tastebuds. You order at the counter, where I think the owner was taking the orders and the accent definitely sounded authentic German like the name of the restaurant. She was lovely. Everything is made fresh so sit back and relax and the dining area is designed perfect for that with couches, cozy chairs and comfortable seats at the tables. I looked up what the name means: "Drachenfutter" is also a term used to describe gifts or treats that someone might bring home for their significant other when they feel guilty about coming home late or drunk. True to the "gift" part of the name, you can take yummy homemade treats home with you and they do have a section of gifts you can buy. A nice gem of a place along Historic Route 66.

When I pulled up to the ordering menu, it seemed to be broken because it kept repeating, "Sorry, we are closed." It took about 10 minutes for a female employee to ask what I wanted to order. She had a hard time understanding English, and I had to repeat myself multiple times. After my order was placed, there was a long wait. Twenty-five minutes later, a lady opened the side window and, in the most unprofessional manner, said my order and reached out for my form of payment. I requested a receipt, but just like every other time, their machine was broken. The reason I requested a receipt was because the price always changes, and I always order the same items. One person gave me a military discount once; after that, another staff member stated there is no military discount or that the meal value has to be $30 or more for a military discount to be applied. This time, my order was $33, and I asked them to apply the military discount, but she said they don't offer a military discount. I noticed the receipt they couldn't produce was on the counter with a tip written on it. They are giving themselves unauthorized tips. When I returned home, my food was cold. Ive been to good Subways and Ive been to some pretty terrible Subways. This was one of the best Subway experiences Ive ever had. First of all I used the restroom, I have high standards and by my standard it was exceptionally cleanly. No malodor or anything which cannot be said for every store Ive been to. One complaint people make about Subway is the quality of the ingredients you put on your sandwich. Ive worked food service several times and these were some of the freshest and well prepared tomatoes, onions, lettuce and spinach Ive ever seen. This isn't your Mom and Pop deli, but that's not what Subway sets out to imitate. That's all I can ask of Subway because at the end of the day Im making my own sandwich. Finally the staff, working the day after Thanksgiving is never fun Ive done it myself. Everyone was very personable and easily made polite conversation. The staff member who helped me was Jordan, to which I say thank you. I don't really leave reviews much less good ones but when I put this Subway in maps I saw it had 2 out of 5 stars. Edited 1/17/26: I received an email from Audrey Woods, Director of Operations for the owners (Weinbaums) of McDonald's Waynesville. The response was hostile in tone, reinforcing my concerns about a toxic work environment. I followed up to ask why I was blocked from the business's social media page after making a simple inquiry and to address the lack of communication and follow thru on her part. I attempted several times to reach someone from corporate regarding an incident that occurred at your Waynesville McDonald's location and wanted to follow up in writing. I went through the drive-thru to purchase a meal (11/9/24), and my card was charged for another customer's order. I informed the employee that this was not okay and requested that my card be refunded and the transaction reprocessed correctly for my actual order. Another staff member then came to the window and stated that a refund was unnecessary because the difference was only a "few cents". I explained that for transaction and record-keeping purposes, and based on being a business owner with extensive business experience, I preferred that my card be refunded and the correct transaction completed. I asked for her name, which she stated was Ann Horsey. At that point, the interaction escalated by your management Ann. The employee became hostile, closed the drive-thru window, used profanity directed at me and about me, yelling and screaming at staff and myself. She created a visibly hostile environment for the staff present and me as a customer. I was later handed a receipt very rudely after I asked for a full refund. I was then aggressively instructed to pull forward to the first window. I stated that due to the abusive incident, I was requesting a refund for the entire meal as I did not want that meal any longer. Staff was hostile again and insisted I pull forward while also stating that I had already received a refund on the original transaction, though no such refund appeared on my account. Eventually, an employee came outside to issue the refund. I recorded the interaction so there would be an accurate record of what occurred. The video is approximately five minutes long and is too large to send via messenger on Facebook, but I would be happy to email it to you for review if you would like. Additionally, yesterday I tried to reach out about this incident via McDonalds Waynesville social media page. I was blocked from the Waynesville McDonald's Facebook business page the next day. As a customer this is appalling to have customer grievances go purposely ignored. I want to be clear that I have never had any issues at this McDonald's location before. This was my first experience of this nature, which is why I felt it was important to bring it to your attention. I would like to know if any disciplinary actions has been taken for the November 2024 incident because scrolling through my news feed on Facebook to see her being praised was unsettling after what I personally experienced with her at your establishment. I have submitted formal complaints with corporate McDonald's, both owners to their messengers on Facebook, Scott Cone (General Manager) via messenger on Facebook and the Missouri Attorney Generals Office.
