This McDonald's is open 24 hours a day for drive thru when the dining room is closed this is nice to know. Especially when you are in the area early morning This one is hit or miss. Been through the drive thru many times. I usually always use the app now. They changed the reward program still good to use the app. Sometimes they get the order out fast other times you sit much longer. Service in Shelby NC is abysmal. No one took my order at the drive thru speaker, nor at the window and then some guy finally opens the window and says hes the only one in the building, no manager, and no one is taking orders. This was 3:30am. No signs in any windows telling customers anything. No signs on the drive thru speaker. NOTHING. Just letting people sit there forever. This rating is for the lack of cleanliness. We stopped to grab lunch and a bathroom break during a roadtrip. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom and someone placed a large industrial roll of brown paper towels (normally used to dry your hands) on the dispenser to use instead. The kiosk was dusty and had greasy fingerprints so we ordered at the counter instead. The floor was quite dirty, as well. We decided to eat in our car instead of sitting down. At that point I was a bit nervous about eating our food, but the kitchen cleanliness looked ok and we were a bit road weary. The food was just ok. I love McDonald's fries and these didn't taste quite as good as our home McDonald's. Same with my cheeseburger. Maybe not as fresh is why. Ours has a high turnover so maybe their ingredients are more fresh. Will skip this location next road trip and will try another since they're a good chain and somewhere I enjoy stopping during our drive. read more

Qtr pound burger was undercooked. Took it back. Got another one that was good but got no apologies even though we had to wait awhile. Fries were not that warm when we got them so after the long wait at the very least, someone should have said they were sorry for the inconvenience. Came here enroute to home from a long drive. This has to be one of the dirtiest places I've eaten in. Came for the select tenders and they were out. Only one or two tables were clean. I have a four year old so, as you may well imagine, we end up here from time to time. Generally we come on Sunday afternoons once a month or so as a treat for the little one. I've never been a huge McDonald's fan but I can't say I've ever been terribly disappointed by the food here. It's consistently good and I've never had anything that wasn't hot and fresh. The Happy Meals options are definitely different from when I was a kid (choice of apples or yogurt, choice of milk or apple juice) but my daughter loves it. Plus, the toys have gotten quite a bit cooler. The staff are usually pretty friendly at this location and we've even had some go out of their way to help my daughter find whatever Happy Meal toy she had her little heart set on. The dining room is sometimes a bit messy, though, it seems it a bit for someone to come out and clean tables. Also, all of the ketchup is kept up at the counter so if you want more you have to head up front and request it. Not bad, overall, though. I've been to far worse fast food places. read more

Wish we'd have looked at the reviews before we went in. Was driving past & needed a quick stop around 6:45 on Sunday. The place seems new - but is dirty, slow and very poorly run. Definitely the worst McD's we've ever been to. Their drink station is as a mess. No napkins at all. None. All the tables were dirty - every single one. The food took a ridiculous amount of time & the staff obviously didn't communicate well. If we wanted to wait 20 minutes for a mediocre burger - we could have gone elsewhere. This was supposed to be "fast" food. We can only hope the franchise owner of this branch sees the horrible reviews of this location & tries to take action - or that corporate McD's does. read more

This restaurant has been a problem for my family for years, back before it closed multiple times for a sinkhole in the drive-thru. They served my poor Mom so many bad cups of coffee. Recently after eating a new 'fresh beef' burger there I got so badly sick. I had more pain for three days than I've had in all my life. I have no doubt it was from this restaurant. The service has always been lethargic--and all the employees always seem so annoyed you're there. The sickness was my last time eating here. The coffee machine is broken. There were 5 errors in two super simple orders. The web site makes complaints impossible. Go. Anywhere. Else.

So the following is the actual feedback I emailed to McDonald's from my experience(s) here. To be honest, this was some time ago, but reading others reviews, it appears nothing has changed... Warning - Do not let your kids go in the play area - I did once and my kids socks and hands were filthy dirty black from crawling inside. BTW McDonald's corporate responded and said this info had been passed on to the restaurant. The restaurant NEVER contacted me or apologized for their poor service. Started at 5:55 AM - left the drive thru order was wrong (also had to wait while they brewed decaf)- came back thru drive thru - asked to have order fixed - long white haired lady at first said "I can't help- pull up to the next window" - when I informed her she was being rude she then tried to help- they make a new sandwich - left drive thru - sandwich was wrong again!! this time went into restaurant - it took three trys to get it right - by this time it was 6:21 am - there are a lot more negative aspects/nuances to the story that I have omitted due to lack of space - have had prob in the past with this McD with orders, staff, etc - twice have not had a salad-twice have not had right dressing- have seen staff(some teenagers) eating behind counter multiple times, pouring themselves milkshake and eating in front of clients - general rudeness - staff seems very unhappy/ not friendly at all - at least 5-6 incidences with me and as many with my wife - general manager or franchisee really needs to be better involved - I am a shareholder and McD enthusiast - have been eating at McD since a child in NYC - have eaten at Mcd all over the world (Rome, Paris, Kiev, Budapest to name a few) - have eaten all over US too - can confidently say this is the worst McDonalds in the world I have ever frequented and have frequented against my better judgement-headquarters should step in and whip this one into shape-it represents our company poorly read more

I used to enjoy the dollar menu at McDonalds, they at least had that going for them at one time. The last few visits I did at the Shelby location were so disappointing. Either the order was not correct or I'd have to "pull up" to the next window so they could complete my order. There isn't any communication amongst the staff. Although there may be a handful of employees really attempting to work hard-a majority of them seem to be there killing time and drawing a check. My biggest pet peeve at any restaurant happens to be when staff members cop an attitude when you question their service. Their management team is inadequate and poorly trained to handle the smallest customer complaints. Another place in Shelby I chose not to waste my time or money on. read more

This is probably the worst McDonald's in the world and I would leave no stars but can't do that. I never eat here and I feel like this is why. First, I got a cheeseburger with onions when asked for no onions and it was on the receipt. Secondly, made us pull over on the side for a "drive thru reserved" spot to wait for our food (let me add that four people already have came and gone while we are still waiting on our food). Third, didn't have a different burger... thankfully I wanted to check everything before we left and I'm glad I did. We started an online order and paid nearly $20 for it. Went through the drive thru as instructed on the app because they won't deliver your food to your car at certain hours (that's not the problem.) We pull up to the window and they get the manager Denise, on 3rd shift, we show her our receipt, proof that we paid, show her exactly what we ordered and tell her twice and she walked away refusing to give us what we paid for because she didn't want to have to remember our order which, may I add again, we already paid for. They made us leave without our money and without our food, which happened to be my dinner for my 18th birthday. As someone who has worked my butt off in the fast food industry it's hard to believe these types of people can past the job interview let alone become a "manager" 100% percent getting corporate involved, which I am not the type to do, never complained about anything because I understand the struggles of working in the fast food industry.
