The new changes they've made to this place are stupid and ridiculous. Instead of conveniently filling up your own drink you have to go up to the counter and bug someone to fill it up for you. They also got rid of the pumps for ketchup and you have to tear open packets. This location has employees that don't work to meet the needs of their consumers. The managers and employees are untrained and will benefit from having HR or the district manager come to provide the training they need to enhance their working ethics. Multiple times I have left with negative experiences from this location. Things such as fries served cold, and the manager being rude to customer complaints - even when McDonald's motto has been the customer is always right. I used to be a McDonald's employee in the past and in my site location we were trained well to be professional and to meet the needs of customers. I can tell that this location lacks the training and education to be professional. HR and district managers please look into the work ethic of your employees and managers in this location site. What happened was I was ordering a combo with medium fries and a small drink. The employee wanted to charge me for each item separating: the burger, friends, and drink. I told her it was a combo with a small drink so she didn't change it because she said she couldn't give me a small drink. I asked her if I can talk to the manager of her site and she ignored me and told me that was my total. I had to tell her again I want to talk to her manager. She refused. I mentioned again, I want to talk to your manager, I used to work for McDonald's so I know that I can talk to your manager. She told me to pull to the first window. I talked to the manager but he was rude and was also charging me extra. I told him it was a combo with a small drink. He said he can't do that because of the way the machines are programmed. I knew he was lying because in the past when I was an employee if a customer requested a small drink with a combo we would manually do that for the customer. He told me I was wrong and that that is not what they do in his location. I was honestly shocked at the way he treated me. First, I have experience managers and employees going out of their way to help make the customer happy but in this situation, I can tell they are just lazy. Also, the manager seems to not have educated in English spoke the language. He didn't care about me as a customer. This is not the only time I have experienced bad service here. In the past, my order has been given wrong, and my fries have been served cold or soggy. The employees have been rude while taking my order and I had to double-check to make sure I wasn't charged incorrectly. Today's experience really just drew the line for me. At first, I thought maybe the employees and managers are new but after being a customer here for over a year, I realized the service here is just really bad and really a negative experience. Would give zero stars if I could. The employees here are poorly trained and the provide poor service. I have experienced the same issue on many occasions. The staff doesn't listen or comprehend well and when you ask for basic things like butter for your hotcakes, they act as if the cost is coming from their paycheck and try to avoid giving you what you ask for at all costs. Would be 4-5 stars for food if they would just get the orders right! No one there seems to understand that plain, no cheese, means no cheese. It can be repeated to the order taker and show up on the board, but they still put on cheese. OR the order taker doesn't include "no cheese," though we've learned to emphasize it. This location has messed up my (drive through) order the past four times I've visited. Several times simply leaving items off the order and I'm not aware until I get to my office to eat. Today the order was completely wrong and I had to go inside to get a refund and reorder. This McDonalds just opened! They over exceeded my expectations. I thought I was going to get the expected McDonald's service where an employee takes your order with no enthusiasm. I got a lady through the drive thru who was very polite, nice, enthusiastic, and was eager to help. The food was fantastic. My nuggets were crisp and THEY INCLUDED THE SAUCES I ASKED FOR at the speaker box. That was the most exciting part! This is by my college location, so I come here for food all the time. There was an awesome new concept in McDonald's. They have sauce pumps now. Why this wasn't invented years ago, I don't know. My generation suffered through countless, "you'll have to pay extra" or flat out denials when asking for more than one nugget sauce. I mean, really! Lady, it's not your restaurant - so why give a damn about a $0.10 packet of hot mustard??? McDonald's isn't going to die! Your career isn't in jeopardy! I swear they won't dock you below the minimum wage that you're getting now! 3. Screaming kids. Makes me want to go get a vasectomy sometimes. Overall, not a great experience. I pretty much use a standard ratings system for the fast food / chain establishments. The goal of any chain establishment is consistency across the brand, so theoretically my star rating should be the same for each branch of said chain establishment. Of course, it doesn't always work that way ... if a particular location is notorious for poor food quality or service, I'll knock them down. And if they excel over their counterparts, I'll bump them up. Whether we like to admit it or not, almost all of us go to McDonald's, and we all think it's "OK". Otherwise we wouldn't come back, no matter how convenient it is. McDonald's is a 3-star kind of place. But I'm giving this McDonald's an extra star because they are amazingly fast. This place gets slammed pretty much all day from all of the nearby Reston offices. During the week, the lines for lunch can be 10-12 cars deep. But no worries - regardless of the weather, they have extra personnel outside taking your order, getting you through and back to your desk to slave away for the man. Even at 2PM there will be a line here ... but your food is ready as soon as you have paid and hit that pick-up window. No fast food establishment is error free, but out of about 50 times I've been here, I can only recall one time they made a mistake. A 98% hit rate is, in my book, pretty darn good. This Mickey-D's is a shining example of excellence for the franchise. read more

I've been to this McDonald's several times now before I decided to write a review. Overall, it's pretty mediocre. More often than not I have a sub-par experience here. Now this is McDonald's, so I'm not expecting them to roll out a red carpet for me, but I do expect my order to be correct, to go through the line at a reasonable pace, the food to taste consistent with other McDonalds', and to be treated as a human being. The majority of times I have gone several of those expectations have not been met. Here's a list of things that have happened: - Employee grumbled into the drive-thru box, so I said "Hello?" and he impatiently said "Yes can I help you?!" My bad. Didn't know your garble sound meant I was supposed to order. - Paid for my order in cash and was not given any change. The employee who gave me the food tried to give me cocktail sauce when I asked for my change (she was not the cashier). Eventually the cashier gave me the change, but it was for the wrong amount (didn't notice until I drove away). - They almost always fill the fry box halfway and you have to ask them for more fries. - Usually at late night, they take your order, but don't ring you up until you're at the window. Several times I've had to re-order for them or correct the order they thought I placed. - I'd say 9 out of 10 times when I say hello or thank you to them, they say nothing back. Not a you're welcome, not a thanks for coming, not a hello back. I'm not asking for a conversation here, but it'd be nice if you acknowledge that I'm a person trying to be polite. Look, this is McDonald's -- nobody is expecting to get top-notch service and, frankly, people don't really care. They just want cheap fast food and the taste of McDs. I visited the drive-thru on Saturday, July 9 and placed and paid for my order. When I got to the pick-up window I was asked to move forward since my order was not ready, which I did. Before I left the window I asked for some sauces since I had ordered some nuggets. I guess they must have forgotten my order as I was waiting at the window for 10 minutes. I am using crutches right now, otherwise I would have gone inside, but I called instead. Whoever answered said he was sorry and sent someone to the window. It's a good thing I checked the bag because it was NOT my order, so I gave it back along with my receipt. Another 5 minutes passed and I was finally handed my order. When I got home I discovered they had not given me any sauces, plus, the little "sorry you had to wait, have a free item" coupon they gave me expired over a week ago. This is the most horrible McDonalds I've ever been to. You would think that at night with less customers and nothing hectic going on workers would be able to perform more efficiently and accurately. I didn't think it was possible to watch a place attempt to improve, yet steadily and consistently go backwards. Of course, it's McDonald's, so you can't really expect that much. But how about having two people work the speakers instead of one when it's busy? Or how about making sure employees aren't playing on their phones in the drive thru window? I stopped getting the fries a while back because they always came out stale/cold/unsalted/gross, and switched to the hash browns because they were made fresh especially after breakfast hours. Well, it seems they caught on to my trick because the last few times I've been and ordered breakfast after hours, my hashbrown tastes like it was dropped in the fryer hours ago, and popped back in to reheat for my order. All I got were two sandwiches, a hashbrown, and a frappe today. My food was ready to go, but I got asked to pull up to the next window for my frappe. No big deal, they're probably busy. Well, after watching multiple cars pass through the drive thru, waiting between 5-10 minutes, and listening to my infant wail in the backseat, I tried to call them to see what was going on. Easier that way when you have an unhappy baby. Surprise: no answer. I gave up and pulled into a parking space, and started unhooking the baby to go inside and find out what was going on: do I get my drink or a refund? That was when the girl came out with my drink and goes "we told you to pull up over HERE!" No shit Sherlock, you took too damn long that I was about to come in and see if you were milking the fucking cow to make the cream for my drink. Wasn't even offered as much as an apology for my wait. Poor service, poor food...wouldn't recommend it unless you're absolutely starving. And even then, there's a Taco Bell or Pizza Hut right there, reconsider your options. read more
