This was another refresher stop for us while out exploring. After a day of running around we needed to get a drink before we got a bit hangry. We weren't looking for food, but we definitely needed hydration. Using the app we opted for the drive thru. Placing the order on our way here, was a smart move, we just entered the drive thru line first. Pulled up to the kiosk, told them our order number, and just waited. The wait here was not long. It was quite the easy wait. Pulled around, our drinks were ready as we pulled up. Drinks handed to us, order was correct, and we were on our way. One of the quickest stops at a McDonald's I have ever had. The biggest gripe here was access. Sitting right off the main the drag through the area, it can take some time to get in and out of here. Especially during the season. There is a constant flow of traffic and sometimes it might be easy to just turn right and fight your way back down. read more

Not sure why this McDonald's has such poor ratings. Although I found only two employees working in this store, I found the store to be very clean, the orders prepared and delivered quickly, and the two employees to have a very positive and customer oriented attitude. Not sure I would be some joyful considering this is a very busy location. They made it work, and with much hustle, customers seemed very pleased. Not screaming at customers when they've waited for 20 minutes in the drive-through and they politely ask you to either refund their money or they would rather wait at the window. The male manager on duty at the McDonald's in this location for June 1, 2025 at 8:40 pm screamed at the top of his lungs. When I said I would rather not move up and that I would rather have a refund or cancel my order and then he screamed again that I had to move up or he wasn't helping me. Threatened to call the police which I encouraged him to do so as I wanted a refund and was being refused even that bare modicum of Service I decided to leave and dispute the charge on my credit card and I am awaiting a response from McDonald's customer service. We've tried this location a few times over the years and every time has left something to be desired. Granted, it's McDonald's, so I never have high expectations. But waiting in the drive-thru line for LITERALLY 25 minutes before even ORDERING and then waiting another 15 to get to the the window, 10 at the window, and then pulling up to the "waiting" spaces for another 10 minutes is unacceptable. I felt awful for the employees because it was clear they didn't have enough training or help and the boy who handed our food out the window was almost in tears apologizing all over himself. It seemed like a really rough night for him and I could see he was on the verge of walking out (I wouldn't blame him). After almost an hour of waiting for McDonald's food, you would think it would at least be edible. The fries were cold, limp, unsalted, and tasted like old dirty grease. The nuggets were no better -- they were rock hard yet cold. The mocha frappe I ordered was literally just dirty water. When I brought that up, it turned out they had been out of the mix to make the frappe so it actually was just dirty water. They gave me a strawberry banana smoothie instead since I had already paid for the completely unconsumable drink. The smoothie was fine but it was the only part of the meal we didn't throw away. Ended up going to Food-a-Rama up the street and just buying groceries to cook ourselves. It was disappointing and gross. Definitely won't be back to this location read more

Where can I even start? Lousy food, lousy service, atmosphere sucks. This being one of two fast food restaurants here in Manteo. We would be better off closing this place down than having it be open. We need new management & new workers here if this place will even last in the next year or two. Just about the most rude people you could ever meet, they can and they will get nasty. Wait times 20-40 minutes in the drive thru without one car in front of you. When they finally take your order they 9 times out of 10 screw it up & sometimes purposely. Being a local I have seen the new scene of workers, don't know where they are from. Sure as SH!!!!T aren't from here. But almost every one of them are rude, do not care about your order, don't care how long you gotta wait. This place is a FAST FOOD RESTAURANT & AINT NOTHING FAST FOOD ABOUT THIS. More so slow and garbage food. If I could leave 0 stars I would. The credit card machine was down for the drive threw, no big deal, but they continued to take orders, and did no tell anyone until they were at the window. Then anyone paying with a card had to go in and wait in line all over again to reorder and pay. Such a waste of time. If I could give them 0 stars I would, because we never even got our food. Leaving OBX with family someone decided on this McDonalds for breakfast. We don't usually eat fast food but wanted to be with the family. Upon arrival I needed to visit the rest room. On my walk to the rest room I observed trash cans over flowing with trash. There was trash on the floor underneath every table. The rest room was absolutely disgusting. My wife said the women's was just as bad. It didn't even have a trash can in it. We should have left but stayed with the family. I ordered a chicken biscuit add cheese(.39)and egg(1.89!) Got to our dirty table and no egg on my biscuit. Ugh! Just couldn't go back up there to deal with it. Surprisingly the place was packed! I just can't figure that out. Food was average. Excruciatingly slow. It was so frustrating. The line went to the door. And in the 20 minutes we were standing in line, I saw 3 girls take turns at the cash register. If you've got 3 people who can run the register, OPEN ANOTHER LINE. The tables were almost all dirty. And the iced coffee literally tasted like it was 1/2 water. This was single handedly the worst fast food restaurant I've ever been to, and I do not say that lighltly. I'm all for diversity in the workplace, but none of the cashiers knew enough English to put in our order. Our cashier rang us up for an extra drink and the wrong sandwich. Then rang up a combo as all separate items. The wait was ridiculously long and there were only a few people in line. Everyone in line had something wrong with their order. There was no sweet tea when we got our drinks and when they did bring it out it was disgusting and we had to dump it out and get a fountain drink. The lady next to me asked for2 half & half teas and the cashiers gave her two half full teas. The toilet in the men's room was literally covered in feces, seat and all (I have photo proof) and when I spoke to the manager about it, she said she was on break and dug a cigarette out of her purse while still inside to go smoke (also photo proof). This is probably my favorite McDonalds in town. It seems pretty new and at night the fog rolls in across the parking lot in a way I can only describe as mysterious. Wet floor signs scattered about make a permanent obstacle course, and only one of the urinals flushes automatically, leaving the other one and the toilet to marinate into a pungent stew wetting our appetites in the bathroom. "Fast food" is more of a restaurant category than paired adjective and noun these days, so amble on over if you've got 15 or 20 minutes to spare to wait for your food, like anyone accustomed to the true pace of slow country livin' should. There's one person totally and wholly dedicated to making massive quantities of fries with her whole soul, even if there's no orders of fries coming in, about 45 other people struggling to slowly piece together each sandwich as it's ordered, a manager lackadaisically taking orders at the register with glazed eyes, and the rest of the crew bumbling about trying to open bottles of chocolate syrup for the flurry machine or rearranging the wet floor signs. read more

Great service, fast serving of course. Only issues I had is their serving size of fries and their hamburger was really greasy to me compared to normal and tasted very dry. They don't really fill it up that much. The fries tasted amazing, and them chicken was on point. The place was also very clean. read more

I am 62 years old. I have been eating at Mcdonald's for a looong time! I recently (Oct. 2019) moved to Mann's Harbor, NC. I still enjoy very much the pleasures of my youth which include Mcdonald's! I have to say that the service time at this particular restaurant has really dampened my pleasure! For at least the 2nd time in a month I have had terrible service time! My sister and I like to stop in at the local Mickey D's for food or a soft cone but as of today I will no longer be giving my business to this location. I am a patient person in general but when I see a full crew working and it takes 15-20 minutes (I saw fries dropped in oil to fry twice) AFTER ordering and still no food, I cannot in good faith go there anymore. I finally just asked for my money back, at which time I was told " I don't know what the hold up is with getting the orders out"! I can tell you one problem, moving at a speed that would indicate you only have 1-2 customers when you have a line at the drive thru and 5-6 people in line! I know we are "living on Island Time" here but as I told the lady who gave me my money back" if things are like this in the summer this particular Mcdonald's is in trouble"! I will drive the twenty minutes over to the beach side to that Mcd's OR just hit the Burger King or Wendy's when I want a simple homey burger! Sorry for the rant but when I try to support LOCAL business and get this type of service I can't in good faith do it! This is an unbelievably awful McDonald's. It is always slow, whether ordering in the drive-thru or inside. It is hit or miss whether you get what you ordered or not. I have vowed never to return, but it has a great location - only fast food joint on Roanoke Island. Tonight's misadventure was I ordered a couple of sandwiches... Simple enough, right. The clerk couldn't figure out how to apply the discount and needed help from another associate, but she was pleasant and eventually got it right. Then comes the cook... God help this boy... Got backed up on quarter pounders with cheese... apparently got confused and proceeded to make one of the two sandwiches completely wrong... Bless his heart.
