Even though it was near closing time on a busy Saturday night the employees were smiling and friendly. The restaurant was very clean and truly every employee I saw was pleasant and helpful. The jalapeño cheese curds were excellent! They were actually spicier than I had expected. I love jalapeños but many things that are advertised as jalapeño contain just a hint of jalapeño but these were spicy and full of jalapeño. I also ordered a grilled cheese and it was very good too. I know the jalapeño cheese curds are only a limited time feature but I wish Culver's would consider adding them to the regular menu.

Spaten is a rare treat for and this is the first time I have even enjoyed it on tap. When I was leaving, I was able to buy a six pack of harder to find German beers. My adult son loves German beer and did not even recognize one I brought that he loved. Restraining myself, I made only modest purchases in the gift shop. This will not be true next visit. As far as the museum aspect, there are many displays. Down one wall are many car models, train models, liquor decanters and numerous other German items. I sneaked into a closed dining room with great displays of stein and wine history. A few times a year, I head from TN to IN. I will make this a two day stop. The place bills itself as a "Sushi Bar & Grill" and yea, that is pretty much what it is: a bunch of Japanese style foods right up there with the American fried pickles and stuff. An unexpected combo, but it works. The apps were all pretty good, and we ordered almost all of them to get a good cross section for everyone to try: fried pickles, fried gyoza, beer battered mushrooms, calamari and chicken wings, just to name a few. All came out perfectly cooked, hot and tasty. The mains were numerous as there were about 20 of us, so I can attest to the sushi rolls only: I had both the dragon and tiger rolls and both were good sized and rolled / presented nicely. Somewhat unexpected in the middle of Jasper. The selection of mains is extensive with everything from seafood to burgers, sushi to pasta and even Asian style dishes. There is one person apparently that makes the sushi rolls, and she knows what she is doing. The only downside we experienced was that they seemed unprepared for us and we had a lot of fits and starts with getting drinks and food coming out. The food runner was a younger dude and he was just out of his element with who was supposed to get what: he would just yell them out as he brought them to the table and hoped someone would recognize what they ordered. Dinner for two was $30 and $40 plus tip, not including a cold Corona on a Hot!! southern Indiana summer day. It wasn't authentic Mexican at all, but instead tasted Tex Mex or German Mex, with no accent on flavor for the tongue, and instead just salt and pepper, with the most coarse pepper you could get, the sort that has no flavor on the palate, but scorches the throat. Those of us who were brought up on this "hot but not spicy German style food" have our throats destroyed and we have acid reflux of the esophagus. My tonsils were removed before I started school. The drinks were okay, and the rice was pretty good, but the only spices were salt and pepper. So, it may depend on who the cook is. I didn't feel comfortable there.
