Los Bravos is your fairly typical Americanized Mexican restaurant. Not too fancy, but striving to feel authentically "Mexican." The layout and design of the place actually reminded me of the long-deceased "Don Pablo's." Kudos for good chips and salsa; the chips arrived on the table appropriately warm, plus they were nice and thin and crispy and not too greasy. The salsa, while not chunky, was tasty nonetheless, with the right amount of cilantro to make it tasty. The cheese dip was your typical white cheese blend with a little bit of a kick, but nothing outrageous. I had the grilled chicken quesadilla and my wife had the grilled steak quesadilla. Both arrived pronto at our table and were hot and sizable, stuffed to the edges with chosen proteins. I enjoyed a side of rice, a nice compliment to the quesadilla. Overall, not a bad place for the price if you're looking for some reasonably priced and reasonably tasty Mexican food in Jasper. read more

Los Bravos is one of the best restaurants in town! They have a lot of options on their menu, the service is both very efficient and very kind, and the atmosphere is welcoming. For birthdays, the staff will bring you free ice cream and a sombrero and sing to you. My nephew loved it! Will definitely be going back. read more

I'm going to start this right here. can't say much for the food, because didn't have a chance to buy any. the inside looks like your traditional Mexican restaurant with Mexican decorum. let me get into my review I'm on foot here in Jasper. I called this place and asked them if they're showing the canelo/Ryder fight tonight. ya know, Mexicans are very proud group of people, so naturally I wonder if they're going to show the fight. I call this place and speak to a really nice guy and asked him if they're going to be showing the fight because I wanted to come in, buy a bunch of food and a bunch of cocktails. he told me yes, emphatically. so, after learning the fight had started, I walked about a half a mile to this place. well I was greeted by a very nice, very well mannered kid at the front. I explained the situation, and asked if they're showing the fight. he said he didn't know, so we both walked to the bar to take a gander. I look up at the tvs, and apparently they're playing football. I didn't even know football was already on, because I don't follow woke sports, but in a nutshell, the fight wasn't on. now I am very very big on integrity. when I call a business and ask questions, I expect honesty. they lied to me, on top of the fact that I walked in the rain just to come here. I absolutely will not support any business that lies to me or it's customers. since you lied about something so simple, how can I trust you that my carne asada is actually beef? I'm off to the schnitzel, to drop a couple hundred bucks around people who are honest. read more

Food is typical and bland but the restaurant is cute and inviting. I love the patio overlooking the riverwalk. There's a constant foul smell in the bathroom hallway, near the kitchen. I don't think the odor is from the bathroom because I don't smell it in the bathroom. I highly recommend the Mexican restaurant near Ruxers Ford on US231 (south of Jasper). I think the name is Azul Tapitio. It's where Los Bravos used to be. Food is SO GOOD! The building is older but they have made numerous updates. read more

Staff was friendly and service was quick. However I'd rate the food to be mediocre. I ordered a chicken chimichanga with refried beans and rice, and table side guac. The chimi was okay, not really fried how a chimi should be, the rice was tasty but the beans were very "runny". The table side guacamole could've used a lot more spices and flavor. I ordered a strawberry margarita. I could hardly taste the tequila. But it had good strawberry flavor. read more

Los Bravos is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants next to the river walk. When you walk in you're greeted with someone at a counter and then you're seated. I haven't been here in a while so I don't remember a lot from the menu but anytime I ordered the food was always good. The food was always warm and never over or under cooked. The waiters and waitresses are always nice and respectful. In my experiences, sometimes I've had to wait a little while for my food but otherwise it's pretty good! I recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes Mexican food. read more

One of the first restaurants I've been too since Indiana started relaxing the quarantine requirements. Beautiful decor and the staff was friendly. I ordered the Chalula Shrimp. It was served with a side of rice and steamed vegetables. It was very good. I was not expecting the heat from the Shrimp!!! Holy Smokes. Made that jumbo margarita disappear even faster. Los Bravos is THE Mexican restaurant to go to in Jasper...because there's only one other one I know about. I agree with Cheryl M. in the fact that this Mexican food is not authentic, but for rural Midwest, it's good enough. For a chips/dip and beer/margarita place, it's good. For families, it's good. For a quick bite, it's good. The food comes out so fast that it makes you wonder if all the meat is precooked and just warmed up (which I'm sure it is), and every dish is smothered in either cheese, sour cream, salsa or something liquidy...which helps to hide what's underneath. I ordered an enchilada plate, with one beef, one bean, one cheese and one chicken enchilada. When it came out, I could not see any tortilla as it was completely covered in sour cream, lettuce and tomato. The chicken was dry, the beef did NOT taste like beef and was dry, the cheese was as if it had been microwaved and turned hard again and the beans..well...it's hard to mess up beans too much. At least my beer was beer. Will I go back? Yes. Why you ask? Because lots of people like it and I want to hang out with friends and family that go here...and because the waiters are really nice. To be fair, there's not a whole lot of competition down here in Jasper for a Friday night fiesta. That said I was pleasantly surprised. Solid American-Mexican food. The beer glasses were novel and they had both Dos Equis lager and amber on tap. Margaritas are pretty syrupy- heads-up for those with weaker stomachs. If you are looking for a place to have some drinks and snacks, I give it four stars just for the huge portion of free chips/salsa we got promptly after sitting down at the bar. Menu was massive with the same 10 ingredients you come to expect at a Mexican joint. I typically base my experience on the queso, and this place gave you a generous portion of cheesy goodness. No nasty film taking over the cheese as soon as you divert your attention. My burrito supreme did come swimming in juice and lacked the refried beans listed in its description. I came to think of it as Burrito Au Jus and moved on with it. A pickier restaurant goer may have taken greater offense at this and mentioned it to the staff- can't really complain as I didn't bring it up. read more

im going to start from first to last. they sat me and my boyfriend by a party of 18 people, they took 45 minutes to even take our order, both of our orders were dry as hell, they didn't make my steak tacos right, they barely had any steak on them at all, he didn't have any chorizo in his order, all the limes were dry like they have been sitting all day, the waitress didn't check on us not one time and lastly as we were walking out to leave there was a big spot black mold on the ceiling tile, and if we seen this, when we first came in, we would have left them. our experience was terrible, we will not be going to eat there again. read more

Went here for a work lunch and we had a larger group. They were very accommodating to the group and seated us quickly. The orders were taken right away and food came out piping hot. We were all able to have plenty of time to enjoy our food and get back to the office during the allotted time for lunch. This is a place I would go again when in town again. read more

This place is AMAZING. They closed at 10:00 and we showed up at 9:25. They were happy to welcome us and then proceeded to give us the best Mexican food we'd ever had. Honestly. We're from Indianapolis and this place did circles around any Mexican we'd ever experienced. The steak in our fajitas was perfectly grilled and veggies sliced thin and sautéed to perfection while being jam packed with flavor. Review ALERT: I just moved here from Tucson; the Mexican food mecca, so my reviews are to my standards, and not the the standards of a life-long Mid-westerners who love spicy food. Having said that, this place is visually beautiful and ALWAYS packed/bustling. Apparently people really like it. For me, I'm not sure it will every pass A-OK. Ground beef and American cheese do not equate to Mexican food in my mind, so I'm pretty sure I'll never get over that. I will no longer be ordering tacos or enchiladas for that reason. So sad. Like I said, we're from Tucson and we had the most epic tamales ever so my son decided that's what he would order. Once our food got to the table I immediately wanted to tell our server that he brought my son the wrong order. But no. Upon digging....literally, we found the little tamale. The plating style was beyond bizarre; a tamale, COVERED...and I mean covered with a huge mound of ground beef and enchilada sauce poured over the top of that. It was like nothing I had ever seen but being so desperate for Mexican, the boy ate it right up. I ordered a simple taco salad which was really good and I must say their chips and salsa are incredibly tasty! Make sure you order a side of cheese dip. Pretty yummy. For me this place is more of a chips/dips/margarita joint. I certainly won't come here for serious Mexican eats. BUT, like I preempted my review with...you may think it's the best around! This place has two things going for it: 1) the decor is great 2) there isn't much else in Jasper to choose from. Other than that, the service was awful and the food was absolutely texture and flavorless. The plate I had had whole chunk tomatoes that were absolutely pale and colorless...flesh colored almost. They don't have black beans which is strange and they poured this disgusting white sauce all over the food. Had a very rude run in while picking up takeout last night. The conversation went something like this: Me: "Hi, I'm here to pick up an order for E." Him: glances at table seating wait list "I don't have an E." Me: "No, my wife called in an order. The name would be E." Him: "Well we don't take names on call in orders." There are a lot of Los Bravos restaurants in this part of the state. This is one of the better ones. The bar area is bright and comfy. They mix margaritas with just the right amount of kick and not too much sour lime. Salsa is above average and depending on random factors can sometimes have s little zing (which we live). This is a very brief review of the bar. I was staying at the Days Inn across the parking lot and wanted a beer before calling it a night. So I walked across the lot and found myself at Los Bravos at 9:30 PM. They close at 10 PM so the staff was already sweeping the floor and cleaning tables. I went into the bar and ordered one of the drink specials. $4.75 for a 32 oz. draft Dos Equis. Can't beat that. read more

Really delicious food. Haven't had a bad meal here. Service is always on point. I can't say anything bad other than the noise level due to vaulted ceilings that carry it further and echoes. But, I come here to eat, and not for any other purpose. I always have to eat here for excellent salsa and there chicken is amazing. I love Mexican food and Los is probably my favorite. OK! First off, this address is wrong. Los Bravos has built a brand new building fronting Newton Street and near the Cinema and Days Inn. We stopped going to the old location because of hair in the food. But we thought we would try the new location and have been pleased with the upgraded building and furnishes. The food comes on hot microwaved plates and occasionally there are cold spots where the microwaving wasn't enough, but there is a certain security in knowing the food is prepared and frozen and shipped -- probably from the same place all mexican food sold in America is prepared, so though not outstanding, it is consistent. I'm a fan of Los Bravos because of the consistent quality, cleanliness, quick in and out and the decor. My wife and I prefer the #3 lunch, which a stuffed poblano, an enchilada and rice with a light cheese sauce. Our daughter prefers the "Speedy". read more

So... what the hell was I doing in Jasper, IN you ask? Good question. I'm not telling you. But anyway, I was down here, sort of in the middle of nowhere with a dear friend and we needed somewhere to eat. She said it was decent food, even if it was very far from authentic, so I figured what the heck. It was this or Shoney's most likely. Overall, I was pretty pleased. The food was better than average (the steak in my burrito was chewy, but tasted okay, that's my only real complaint), which makes it spectacular as far as rural Indiana goes. The service was friendly and attentive. The actual restaurant was clean with a nice, cheesy atmosphere one would expect from a sit-down Mexican place. Now, if this were in Chicagoland, my review would probably be a bit lower, but context is important. If you find yourself stuck in southwestern Indiana, but not in Evansville, you could do much much worse. read more

When I went to Los Bravos, my mom got the steak quesadilla, her favorite thing. And when she started eating it, she said that the food was hard to eat. She told me to taste it, and when I did I understood what she meant. The meat was barely warm, the cheese was thick and hard, not at all melted, the tortillas was hard, as if it had been sitting out for a week, and the bell peppers and onions tasted as if they had been cooked for less than 2 seconds on each side. All-in-all it tasted like a shitty 99 cent t.v dinner that had been cooked for less than 1 minute, had been chewed up by one of my cats, shit out, put on the stove for a millisecond, then put on a plate and served to us. I would not recommend anyone coming to Los Bravos for Mexican food, I recommend that you go and find another place because it is not worth the $6.65 that the steak quesadilla costs. read more
