Lime Marg

Delicious! Amazing food, excellent service and really good drinks. The atmosphere has a cool retro vibe and a fun outside dining area and a nice dining area in the bar. Drinks were perfectly made. Good tacos, good meals your pick and you will be glad your ate here. DESSERT was so delicious and the chocolate cake was the perfect ending. YUMMY

This hot, hip, new Mexican joint definitely fills a void in the Jasper, Indiana area. You'll find an array of Mexican street tacos, burritos, enchiladas, margaritas and more on the menu. Chips and salsa are brought to the table but you can also order other salsas that range from a jalapeño tomatillo to a sweet mango peach. Lots of varieties and unique flavors to choose from! I had the chorizo tacos, which came with a side of rice, cilantro, onions and a yummy sauce to pour on the tacos. The tortillas are homemade and the rice was delicious. Two thumbs up for this filling entree. My husband had a taco salad and enjoyed it and my brother-in-law got a vegan bowl. This traditionally comes with guacamole on top, but due to his avocado allergy, they substituted sour cream. His review of his meal is that it was "fire." We didn't have to wait long even though it was a holiday weekend and both the manager and our server were excellent. I 100% recommend that you stop in Retro Mexican Cuisine next time you're in the Jasper area. It's got so much going for it in a small town with fairly limited food options!

I took my family to Retro Mexican Cuisine for dinner while we were in town. We're headed to Holiday World tomorrow and everyone was craving some good Mexican food tonight. We weren't disappointed in the slightest. My wife and I both loved our meals. (ARROZ CON POLLO & CARNE ASADA) Our 5 kids all loved their meals as well. (MINI ARROZ CON POLLO x2, SPAGHETTI WITH RED SAUCE, & CHEESE QUESADILLA) Our server Teresa was awesome! She was very kind and attentive. She refilled each of my kiddos drinks multiple times. Lots of lemonade.. My son accidentally dropped a freshly poured lemonade on the ground, and Teresa rushed over and insisted she clean it up even when he offered to help. We need more servers like her in restaurants nowadays! The restaurant sat behind another restaurant, and was across the street from some cool ponds. The interior was well lit and was very clean. We also sat outside after dinner where my wife and I enjoyed our margaritas and watched the kids run around. Highly recommend if you live in the area, or are stopping through! 10/10

Piñata salad

We enjoyed a meal after Christmas and had a nice experience! I had the piñata salad which is served in a pineapple! Super fresh and refreshing. I needed a little spice, so I used the salsa as the dressing. My husband had the chicken poblano fajitas and really liked them. The sauce on top was 10/10. Our kids ground beef tacos weren't the best (by my taste buds), but the kiddos ate them. The service is also great. The wait staff is super kind, friendly, and accommodating. They had free little figurines of Jesus, and our kids LOVED playing with them while we waited for our food. Please come and support this small business and the great people who run it!

Wow. Although the service was initially slow, the food, service, and ambiance more than made up for it. We were served by Apollo (aka Fernando) who was very attentive. The menu options were super unique - i loved the Mexican / American fusion. There were a few items on the menu I'd never seen before. The star of my experience was the food (Retro Amor Tacos) - everyone else at my table was pleased with theirs. The vibe is very cool and I loved sitting outside on the patio. I'll be coming back here each time I'm back in Jasper!

This place is incredible! We were driving to Holiday World and stopped here for dinner. Great drinks, fantastic service, and excellent food. I tried the Chicken Mole burrito (see picture) - it was great! Highly recommend.

Excellent food and service both evenings we ate at Los Bravos…read more I'm always extremely skeptical of one star reviews. Some folks seem to think they can bully a free meal from restaurants with bad Yelp reviews. Others have never left a five star review, ever. The Monday and Tuesday nights we were at Los Bravos the restaurant was full of local families, something you won't see at a place that doesn't offer good food at a good value. Dinner for two was $30 and $40 plus tip, not including a cold Corona on a Hot!! southern Indiana summer day. Overall, as good a meal and dining experience as I've had in "white table cloth" Mexican restaurants at 2-3x $$ in much larger midwestern cities.

I have been here twice. And you couldn't get a more mixed experience…read more The first time was on the Cinco Mayo day, May 5, 2026, and it was quite awesome. The salsa was tasty perfect, the blueberry margarita excellent, and the food great. But on June 12, 2026 it was the opposite. It wasn't authentic Mexican at all, but instead tasted Tex Mex or German Mex, with no accent on flavor for the tongue, and instead just salt and pepper, with the most coarse pepper you could get, the sort that has no flavor on the palate, but scorches the throat. Those of us who were brought up on this "hot but not spicy German style food" have our throats destroyed and we have acid reflux of the esophagus. My tonsils were removed before I started school. The drinks were okay, and the rice was pretty good, but the only spices were salt and pepper. So, it may depend on who the cook is. I didn't feel comfortable there.

Sushi / American An…read moreunexpected find in the wilds of Jasper, IN. Having the need to be in Jasper for a work event, the entire team met up at Ohana for after work dinner / drinks. The place bills itself as a "Sushi Bar & Grill" and yea, that is pretty much what it is: a bunch of Japanese style foods right up there with the American fried pickles and stuff. An unexpected combo, but it works. The apps were all pretty good, and we ordered almost all of them to get a good cross section for everyone to try: fried pickles, fried gyoza, beer battered mushrooms, calamari and chicken wings, just to name a few. All came out perfectly cooked, hot and tasty. The mains were numerous as there were about 20 of us, so I can attest to the sushi rolls only: I had both the dragon and tiger rolls and both were good sized and rolled / presented nicely. Somewhat unexpected in the middle of Jasper. The selection of mains is extensive with everything from seafood to burgers, sushi to pasta and even Asian style dishes. There is one person apparently that makes the sushi rolls, and she knows what she is doing. The only downside we experienced was that they seemed unprepared for us and we had a lot of fits and starts with getting drinks and food coming out. The food runner was a younger dude and he was just out of his element with who was supposed to get what: he would just yell them out as he brought them to the table and hoped someone would recognize what they ordered. Overall a good time. The place looks pretty large with plenty of tables and seats at the sushi bar, so if in the mood for something new, give it a shot. Parking all around the perimeter.

The inside was very clean and tidy. We were seated next to the bar so it was a little loud…read more The service started out excellent! The waitress was attentive. However, as it started to get busier, there was a noticeable drop off. Which is nothing out of the original, just something to keep in mind. The crab Rangoon was delicious and probably the only thing I would come back for. The outside was perfectly crispy and the inside was smooth and creamy. The ginger dressing was also great. The pad Thai was good, however, it tasted nothing like pad Thai. There were absolutely zero sweet notes and the eggs were basically whole. The limes were so dry that I was nearly unable to squeeze any juice out. There was an overall lack of vegetable variety. It was essentially just bean sprouts and noodles. I don't think there was any noticeable carrot or cabbage.

It feels like an old German inn. The waitress staff wore cultural dresses. They even have a cute little gift shop. The salad bar looked fresh with plenty of options. I had the Ruben. It was delicious. It does not come with any sauce, but the waitress was happy to grab me thousand island. This was probably one of the best Ruben's I've had. For the side, I went with the German fries. Everything was tasty and I hope to come back again! A lot of the group ordered the fried chicken plate special and it looks delicious. They all enjoyed it as well.

Previously family and I have attended some great German restaurants in the motif of a beer hall…read more This is not that. It is more of an inn. There are lots of items on display almost like a small museum. Don't forget the gift shop. I was thrilled. Obviously popular, the clientele was experienced, but diverse. While I did not hear German discussion, I might have. Next to the restaurant is a building that is their catering. It was as big as the restaurant. Walking in, the sign said to seat yourself. Sometimes that means a delay in a server finding you. Nay, nay. She was prompt, attentive and knowledgeable. She was great. Because I scanned the menu ahead of time, I knew that I wanted the trio of wursts. They were among the best I've had. My server talked me into the potato salad. It was great. Along with the wursts, I ordered a salad and completely enjoyed their house made blue cheese dressing. The beer menu had Spaten Special. Spaten is a rare treat for and this is the first time I have even enjoyed it on tap. When I was leaving, I was able to buy a six pack of harder to find German beers. My adult son loves German beer and did not even recognize one I brought that he loved. Restraining myself, I made only modest purchases in the gift shop. This will not be true next visit. As far as the museum aspect, there are many displays. Down one wall are many car models, train models, liquor decanters and numerous other German items. I sneaked into a closed dining room with great displays of stein and wine history. A few times a year, I head from TN to IN. I will make this a two day stop. Oh, did I mention there is a hotel right next door to keep my safe from driving after enjoying a few great beers on tap?
